Fantasies of a Housewife, "Desert Dreams" is a contemporary romantic short story.
Shaylene Thomas is a busy working mom. Raising her two girls on her own in rural Arizona's high desert country, each day is an adventure filled with both beauty and challenges-- and she wouldn't trade a moment of it for all the riches in all the skyscrapers in the world. But sometimes she dreams of a warm pair of arms to curl into at night ... and sometimes dreams come true.
Desert Dreams Reviews

This story is best described as cute-steamy. It's fun and makes a great palate cleanser between longer novels.

Never more have I wanted to be a single mother of two than after reading Desert Dreams. Of course I would need to be Shaylene for it to work. This is my favorite of Sophia Jones' short stories. I couldn't put it down and laughed as well as sighed through out the story. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good erotic short story. Loved it.

Divorced Mama Shaylene Thomas loves her kiddos and her desert home, but it gets a little lonely. Her sister-in-law's solution? Take the kids for the weekend and hire an escort to help Shay get her groove back. Shay balks at first, but when tall, dark, and gorgeous shows up at her door, who is she to pass up a fantasy come to life?
Sophia has a real knack for mixing humor with her steam and for creating compelling characters that you just can't help but connect with and root for. And she'll always leave you wanting more (hint hint, Sohpia)! -
I really enjoyed this story!! I read it from the Anthology it was originally published from - Fantasies of a Housewife- and couldn't help but smile; wanting more when I was finished. It was sweet and made me giggle. Really enjoyed the main character and her hot visitor, the chemistry that they had with each other was *phew* H-O-T!
Definitely would've loved to see more of what the author could come up with from these two. Like someone else who reviewed this story said - this would make either a great novella or full length book :) ! -
In Desert Dreams she has dreams that she dreams about everyday and every night. Will those dreams be brought to life? Will she have warm pair of arms to curl into at night finally?" Shay thought back to the incident that led to the fur-only rule. It had involved her tomboy daughters, a six foot long bull snake, and her kitchen sink. "But mama, we just want to see if he can swim!" Good lord, she still had nightmares". (That is the only quote from the book you are getting from me but Good Lord I would have nightmares too.) I will be coming back for more when Desert Desires comes out

This was one of the short (5000K) stories featured in the Fantasies of a Housewife Anthology edited by Tina Pollick.
Sophia's story was funny and sweet and sexy hot! Everything a fantasy should be. :-)
I would love to see this expanded into a novella cause this sexy neighbour seemed like he had lots of interesting things to say. -
I read this in the anthology where it was originally published. This is the review I wrote about it there:
This was a wonderful little story even if it is more than a bit predictable. The characters come alive despite the short length, and the scene throughout is set so vividly that you can easily picture it all. Shay and Derek are interesting characters that I would love to read more about. -
I've just read the short story on Shaylene and Derek, I would love to hear more of their story. It would make a fantastic novel. It pulled you in from the beginning. With a bit of humour as well.
Well written and yes it was steaming hot too.
Defiantly a 5 star rating from me.xD -
This was cute, and funny, and sexy. Very well written, it really reeled me in and made me care about the characters. Worth the read though for sure!

Short and quick read... Review to be on my blog in August 2015

Super short
This was super short and quite dirty. I enjoyed it but wished it had been a bit longer. I need an ending and this one just dropped off. -
Desert Dreams is a short romance read with humor and a very likeable heroine, but it would be even better with some tweaking. Even as a short story it needs to be fleshed out a bit more near the end, which is somewhat abrupt. The sex scene is too explicit for this to be considered a "clean" romance story, but the scene is so sudden and brief that it is not steamy or erotica, either.
The author's writing is very nice and the editing/grammar is clean. I like Jones' work and would enjoy seeing this story expanded. -
An enjoyable, quick little read with some sizzle. *thumbs up*
