But nothing could have prepared me for this.
My brother’s friends are wild, protective, secretive, always around.
And drop dead gorgeous.
Out of all of them, there's something about Reid Knox.
Brooding, temperamental, guarded…
And I want him more than anything I have ever wanted in my life.

I've had this book on my TBR for a long time. The Audible version was on sale recently, so I thought, "why not?". It's been a few days now and I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this one. I loved parts of this story and hated others. I'm left feeling torn over how to rate this one. Finally, I settled on 3 stars.
The story begins with a 19 year-old Summer, our heroine, moving in with her 18 year-old brother, Xander, after picking him up from jail. Her mother had recently died, leaving Summer to reach out to her estranged father and her half-brother for help. It was apparent that there were some strained family relations. Summer hadn't been previously allowed to have a relationship with Xander, as he was the product of their father's extramarital affair and Summer's mother forbade it.
To say the least, there were some very interesting dynamics in the beginning. As they got to know each other, I kept having to remind myself that Xander was actually the younger sibling. He was fiercely protective of Summer and made sure that all of his friends knew that she was "off limits". Any man that messed with her would have to contend with Xander and their father, the leader of their MC.
Of course, the fact that she was forbidden fruit only served to make her more desirable. In no time, Summer has set her sights on Reid Knox. Honestly, I didn't get it for most of the book.
Reid Knox is the resident bad-boy. He was moody, inconsiderate and just a royal a**hole. Now that I think of it, that was his appeal. He was all over the place. One minute he was warning Summer off. The next minute, he'd be snuggling up with her. He was an Alpha-male, domineering, jerk...but that's why I loved him.
There was plenty of angst and drama in this story, holding my attention from start to finish. I loved Xander's twin brother, Ryan, who becomes Summer's best friend. He was the type of fun-loving sidekick that every story needs. There is also a crazy ex-girlfriend that keeps things interesting...because what story would be complete without a crazy ex to stir up trouble?
So, why only 3-stars? One word -- GROVELING. If you follow my reviews, you know that I demand groveling. It is one of my biggest pet peeves to have a hero that screws up royally, breaking the heroine's heart, only to be forgiven with very little effort on his part to make up for his actions. It really irks me. If I have to suffer through the heartache, I demand that he suffer as well. Otherwise, all of the pain that the heroine supposedly felt seems insincere and invalid.
That is exactly what happened in this book. It was no big surprise that Reid would screw up...big time. However, Summer became some insecure, weak-willed heroine that let him off with little more than a half-assed apology. No! Just, no! Thus, the 3-star rating. Otherwise, it would've been a 4-star read for me.
Overall, it was a good story. I am still a little peeved at how easily Summer forgave Reid, but I'll get over it eventually. I am looking forward to reading the stories of some of the other characters that were introduced. I will be starting the next book immediately. -

3.5 Adorable Stars
A few reasons why I picked up Maybe This Time are: the blurb, the author and I wanted to lick the cover. Yup! If I want to lick the cover, you can bet, I will want to read the book.
I think the author is cute, sweet and adorable. I wanted this to be a home-run for me, because I can smell the alpha-male coming from the pages, BUT there were a few things that I had a problem with. Mostly it’s a personal issue, but I will explain more in detail later.
BUT do not write-off the author, I see greater and steamy, tension filled reads coming our way.
So, there’s Summer and she has a brother, Xander, who has friends, Reid and Reid has a twin brother Ryan. THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE! YAY!!!! I kind of like a strong Heroine with a bunch of over-protective male characters. It’s just too cute! Xander and Ryan treat Summer like their sister. Summer and Reid have some nice sexual tension, oh man, you fill it a mile away.
I would caution readers and note Maybe This Time reminds me a lot like Beautiful Disaster, with a similar-ish story line, character and phrases. NOT completely the same, just mirrors a few elements. This did not bother me, I love BD so, I’m for anything that is like the book.
There are a few things that didn’t work for me…
I’m not a fan of short reads, but I do read them and I don’t judge my rating based on the length, however I think the book wasn’t long enough to build on character development. As much as I love the tension between Reid and Summer, I felt the last 30% was a bit rushed.
My issue... oh my little issue. If you have been following my reviews, you know I have a hard limit. It’s something that is very difficult for me to get pass, I actually started to tell authors I can’t read books with this because it will be hard for me to give a high review. Anyhow, yup, it happened and oh boy, that was enough for me. I was very close to not finishing, but I had to see how it ended.
Because of this, I do not like Reid. I didn’t find anything redeeming about him. Oh and don’t get me wrong, I LOVE damaged Heroes, but to me, he was weak, a bit insensitive and all around too emotionally reactive. He needed to reel it in and really look at the big picture (in my opinion).
I know we all love the brute, the alpha male, the sexy Hero, but sometimes, extending the story a bit and toning down the typical characteristics, really do help the story. I loved Summer, she was a bit typical. She had an awesome support system and I sympathized with her struggles. I liked Reid in the beginning, but in the end, he pissed me off.
So, book 2, will be about Ryan and there’s a little excerpt in the end. Will I read it? HECK YEAH!!! I’m excited. I know my above review was less than glowing, but I know the author has the backings of a really epic and great read. I’m a full supporter and you should too.

A whole new world!
The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗
World building: 🌎🌏🌍
Character development: 🙂🙃☺️😍
The heroine: Summer - she grew up with a Mom that hated her Dad for cheating on her. After her Mom dies, she moves in with her half brother who lives near their father. Summer loves her brother and her Dad though she has issues with the fact that her Dad wasn’t there when she was growing up.
The Hero(es): Reid - he has an identical twin Ryan and they are in the group of guys that hang out with Summer’s half brother Xander. They all really like her Dad as well. They also have secrets which they don’t think Summer can handle.
The story: Reid and Summer are attracted to each other at their first meeting. Though it seems to me that it all happened way too fast. It is one thing to be very attracted to each other from the start, but it seemed like just because of the attraction, they were treating each other like they had some sort of claim on each other right away. It was just a bit weird to me.
I liked Summer’s relationships with her brother and father, but the secrets were really odd. They kept hinting that Summer might not be safe, but they didn’t say why. I know her Dad, brother and all the guys have motorcycles but were they an MC? I wasn’t sure.
Reid is involved in something and with people that he was keeping from Summer, but it is weird when she doesn’t immediately demand answers. Everything was just a bit too disjointed to me. It seemed there was a lot of back story about Summer and her mother but not enough detail on things that actually are going on.
Though that isn’t to say the book was bad. The story was good and I liked all the guys and how Summer was with them. The narration was good, but it was all told from Summer’s POV. Ido like dual POV books better with both a female and male narrator.

Didn't enjoy this book, liked the last 30% but overall it was pretty Meh..
They talked tooo much about how beautiful the chick was... I'm like just fuck off people, I'm going to slap someone if they go on about her beauty once more..
It was like they all wanted to hump her [father included] and her beauty
Dialogue writing needs work...
I liked the characters.. but the story had no plot to support it as such..
After reading Worth the Fight by Vi Keeland the whatever base this book had, it felt like such a contradiction..
They went on about the age thing in so many scenes, and about her beauty NONSTOP
then alsoooo, the secret ruse thingie in the start of the book.. SO NOT NEEDED..
This book had no base to keep it going.. it was not very much to my liking, but I will still read the second book of this series because I did love the characters :D -
3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads.

UPDATE: Reread, October 2021
======================
UPDATE: Reread, May 2019
======================Ryan is here alright. He’s currently got a woman up against the wall. She's fully naked, and he has his jeans around his ankles. The man has a great ass, and it’s in full view for me to see.
I see Reid staring daggers at me. Then he turns, looking around the bar until his eyes come across a stunning blonde. He waits until her eyes meet his, then tilts his head slightly towards the office. She smiles seductively, and walks towards the office, her hips shaking with each step. She opens the office door and walks in, Reid following her, and closing the door behind him. Ryan heads to the bar, taking over.
Ryan laughs at his brother. “'Bout time you got some action brother.”
“Where’s Ryan?” I ask, looking around. I swear he was here a second ago. When I see him heading to the office with a different chick, I gape. Again? Really?
“I don’t belong to you, Summer,” he says, putting me in my place.
“This car smells like… sex,” I say, looking at Ryan’s profile. Ryan laughs but doesn’t explain. Knowing him, he probably got some action before he came for dinner.
However, when I see its Reid’s blonde my temper gets the best of me. “Who is this bitch?” I ask Reid, saying it loud enough for her to hear. “Don’t talk to her like that, Summer,” he snaps, walking over to the girl and talking to her in hushed tones. What the hell?
I see Reid leaning against the wall, wiping blood from his nose. He throws the towel over his shoulder, and then the blonde leans up and kisses him on his mouth.
I sit down on the bed next to him. “You hurt me. You kissed her. Her fucking lips were on yours.”
enter the living area, and gape when I see not one, but two women sitting there. I send Ryan a look that says you sly dog, you’.
“I thought you were a virgin,” he blurts out, holding my body in place so I can’t move away. “I never said I was a virgin,” I say slowly. “I know, but you’re so innocent, and young, and you didn’t say otherwise, so I just assumed…”
“Reid has fucking lipstick all over his neck!” I say to Ryan, turning my back on Reid so I can’t see him.
“Who was she?” I ask him through clenched teeth. “The doctor. She’s kind of my ex. The one I broke up with just after Reece died,”
“Mia was right, you're way too immature to handle this,” he says to himself. That comment hits me like a blow to the chest. One thing I’ve learnt about Reid, his words can be cutting. He knows exactly what to say to hurt you the most. And he hit his intended mark with that one.
“You gonna see Zara again?” I ask, talking about the woman he went away with. “Maybe,” he says, smiling mischievously. I roll my eyes. “Your dick is gonna fall off one day.”
“Worst fucking day of my life when I realise Mia was right about you,” he says. I go silent, his words having the effect he wanted them to.
“You may be a fucking bitch but I’m not a bastard. I’ll take you home,” he says, his words final.
Reid is sitting there, with a girl on his lap, straddling him. His hands are on her ass, and his lips are attached to hers.
Ryan gives me a look I’ve never seen before from him, and for the first time in my life I wonder if my brother hates me. He stares pointedly at the bed, and I turn my head to see what the fuck he’s on about. A woman.
In bed. With me. Fuck. It all comes back to me.I glance down at the woman in my bed, wondering how the hell I'd fucked up so bad.
“If this is how you love someone, by leaving them and cheating on them, then I want no part of your love,” I yell, my voice cracking.

DNF at 58%
Nothing happened in this story. Absolutely nothing. The hero kept gushing about how "beautiful" the heroine is. One minute he hates her, then the next they're in "love." Ughhh
I can't take this anymore...

4.5 SO-MANY-ALPHA-MALES-I-CAN'T-SEE-STRAIGHT STARS!
Alpha-caveman heroes, they are my weakness. Jerk? Temperamental? As long as it has some possessiveness on them, I'm a happy woman.
“I fucked up. I’m gonna fuck up. But I wanna try,” he whispers
Reid... Scarred, sexy, tall, blonde, blue eyed but he also comes with a lot of baggage. This might put you off but he's temperamental, confusing and frustrating to the point that you just want to strangle him! He goes hot/cold and gives mixed signals. Reid has a lot of flaws and it's either you love him or hate his guts but for some reason, it was hard to remain too angry with him. He does or say something that melts my heart and made me want to crawl all over his body.
“Are you going to kiss me?” I whisper, arrested in his blue gaze.“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” he whispers back, his eyes dropping to my mouth.“Good ideas are overrated,” I say breathily.
Summer... Big brown eyes, huge tits, tiny waist and a round ass. To sum this all up our heroine is a stunner. First half of the book, I actually like Summer- she's opinionated, feisty, hard headed but behind this is a vulnerable-weak woman. She doesn't play mind games like some heroines out there. Maybe one thing that I didn't appreciate was she forgives Reid soooo easily. I wanted to see more groveling in his part but hey... I'm not judging here.. I guess if I have Reid as my own begging for my forgiveness, I will probably forgive and forget and do make-up sex all night long!
“I think he’s doing enough fighting for other people, Sum, maybe he needs someone to fight for him,”
The plot might not be original but the twist and secrets made the story more intruiging and enjoyable to read. Everyone was tip toeing around Summer which kinda frustrate me. I didn't know what the hell was going on and I'm not good in guessing so I've been itching to know what was the damn secrets!
When finally everything was revealed.. I was like this...
I'm not disappointed at all but I was hoping it's a big mind blowing thing ya' know? But what I liked in this story is that on each revelation, you discover another new secret that you want to unravel...
“You’re it for me,” he finally says.
“I’m not gonna give up on you, ever.”
I wouldn't say this is the best book ever or that I love everything about it. Because it's not. There were too many characters that I somewhat couldn't keep up. The pacing of the story was way too fast. For example Also when
“It means I’m sure Reid likes anything you like, or at least pretends to. Hell, if you were mine, I’d play that stupid game, too, just to see you smile.”
There were so many protective alpha males in this story that I couldn't see straight! lol! To be honest, at first I had a hard time remembering all of them to the point that I even wrote down all their names, what they look like etc...by the end of the book, I know them all like the back of my hand! hahaha! Reid, Ryan, Xander, Dash, Tag, Silas and Jack OMFGjorkillmenow!!! Don't judge me but I'm interested to know more about Jack!! I know he's old and cheated but I find him so sexy! I want him. O__O
Despite me ranting about the paced and too many characters, I loved all the characters in this book. Even though it's a very fast paced, you can't help but love them all.. well.. except for Mia. I hate that bitch but her presence added some spice in the story.
“Did you see her? She’s fucking hot!”
Reid laughs. “Not as hot as you, baby, trust me.”
It’s true. Love is blind
Overall I love it but I'm not in love with it. I think it's a good start for a great series. I'm a big fan of Chandal Fernando and been stalking her ever since I read Resisting Love series! This author never fail to write some Alpha, possessive cavemen heroes!
I highly recommend this book if you want a quick sexy read with possessive alpha males!!!
Next book is Ryan's story. OMG! Did anyone see that coming?! The manwhore is freaking AFKJIDONTWANTTOPUTANYMORESPOILERYOUHAVETOREADTHEBOOK!!! Eeeeek! I'm so excited!!!! -
Reread August 2017.
I had originally rated this 4 stars but upon reading it again I have to wonder what the fuck I was thinking. While it was a quick and easy read it was also fucking annoying.
First, the writing. It was immature. Like something I would have written when I was a teenager. Ideally I'd be beautiful - big boobs, slim waist, glossy hair, sweet but strong with a bit of attitude. All the men would want to protect me but lust after me. I'd have a small flaw of course to make me more relatable and interesting. The male characters would be hard bodied, hung, big manly men that have used women and never loved one enough to stick to them until the fictional me comes along.
That is why I say the writing reads like a fantasy tale from a dreaming teen.
Add onto that the fact that the heroine was a whiney arse immature insecure brat. All another woman needed to do was be in the same room as her man and she was off on a rant. This was full of needless drama like that. They were constantly accusing each other of shit and storming off only to declare their love again 2 pages later.
The messy drama.
I do love a messy angst filled book every now and then but this was constant. There was never a time were they were solid and just together.
Safety wise I'd say some would class it as having cheating -
So yes, while I couldn't stop reading it the heroine wasn't very likeable. I'll still be trying the next book and hoping the writing and character likeability have improved. -
2,5 Stars, Maybe NOT this time!!
I 've read Chase too by the same author and i'm starting to think that she has favorite traits that she uses all the time..
I didn't like the lame storyline then and i feel the same way for this book too..
The problems are too many and vary from 'meh' to 'i can't take it anymore'.
The main picture is that Summer is boring and Reid is an ass..
If one more person says she is soooooo beautiful i swear i 'm going to kill something.. She is sooo innocent, cute, naive ugh!
And Reid is deeply disturbing and his motives for what he does are well 'noble' but really cruel..
Xander is a nice kid i liked him but he surely didn't protect his sister, neither did her father.. They were exaggerating about how much they would guard her but i didn't see such thing at any point of the book..
And if you want my opinion her mother was right in so many things and the big revelation about her parents relationship was bullshit.. Summer acted like her mother was a criminal..
I was like the girl above mostly while reading..
But the truth is i loved Ryan and Tag..
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- I liked the ending.
- Ryan is my favorite character..
- I don't get how easily they bonded with her right away..
- I don't get either the age difference..
- The writing is mediocre..
- Silas was the most intresting character..
- I also liked Jade just a little..
- There is a twist.. Good twist..
- Her father was weird.
- I don't understand why she should like Xander's mother..
- Her old friends were nice..
I will read the next book eventually because it's Ryan's time.. -

I forgot how angsty this book was but I loved it. I did think it was a little weird that there was only one narrator that did both POV's but it wasn't a problem while listening and I thought she did a great job. -

Scrummy Hot alpha males, MMA Fighters, *Gasps* Twins (Reid & Ryan)
(SUMMER)
A sassy mouthed, brown eyed bombshell with pouting lips, huge tits and a tiny waist and hips that flare out..Who Reid would conveniently call Beauty..
(REID)
Blond haired gorgeous bright blue eyes and a killer body with a scar down the right side of his cheek, which kind of added to his appeal..His hair is shaved on both sides, with it being longer on the top..
From the get go you could see the attraction between that drop dead gorgeous *twin* Reid and Summer..
During the book, Reid definitely lived up to his name, he was a cave man temperamental SOA at times, but oh so hot..He kind of gave me whip lash, one minute he wanted her, then the next he was pushing her away, but like a doormat she allowed him to get away with some of his cave man tendencies..
But it still makes for a compelling read..
Some of the scenes were hot!! This book had a lot of elements going for it!! I just wanted more focus on the illegal underground fighting, more grit, and I felt like the ending kind of fell a wee bit flat and rushed fro my liking..But I still enjoyed the story..Nothing too heavy..
For me though it's the hot alpha males that made this book!! Oh and I can't end this review without some knowledge of that cover IT'S HOT!! -
Uh, Maybe not.
Don’t get me wrong. I love a badass alpha male. But there’s a difference between ‘alpha’ and plain ‘asshole’. For me, Reid was the latter. I firmly believe that Katy Perry’s song “Hot N Cold” was solely inspired by him.
Besides that fact that I didn’t care for Reid, the overall story seemed all over the place. There were several inconsistencies and contradictions that at the end of it all, my head started to hurt.
The 2 stars were mainly for the supporting characters which I enjoyed. But as much I liked them, I won’t be continuing this series. -
Wow!
What a train wreck... From start to finish.
From the wtf plot to the actual writing to poor character development to editing (or sad lack of it)... hell, just the whole thing... hot mess.
But, like, I couldn't look away and ended up reading
the.
whole.
thing.
I don't know whether I'm proud of myself or sorely disappointed. -
That's right...meh!
Maybe This Time was frustratingly difficult to read.
There were times I happened to somewhat like reading it, and then there were times I felt like this..
At first I enjoyed Summer, I thought she wasn't too bad of a chick. She was hot, beautiful..whatever! though I don't see why that needed to be announced all the god damn time.
It seemed as though she completely changed into this self centred, jealousy ridden brat overnight which didn't work in her favour with me liking her character. Though she had her moments, so it wasn't a total loss.
I adored Reid's twin Ryan, also Xander, Tag and Dash! Who wouldn't? They're all drool worthy.
Reid however, didn't float my boat. Maybe at first but once his demanding and controlling ugly head reared itself ( and not in a 'fuck me' sexy way) I ran outta that fantasy real quick.
Reid and Summer were both as bad as each other. There were always women getting in the way, jealousy, fighting and then they'd make up literally SECONDS later. Is that possible? Oh and I also didn't like the pet name 'Beauty.' So that'll go onto my list of endearments I don't like with 'daddy' *Shudders* yes I have a list.
The story wasn't the best, with nothing really going on. It was a bit of a disappointment, though I'm not one to dwell...for too long. The beginning actually had me thinking there was something horrible happening in the story, which is the main reason I continued. Yes parts of the characters story did suck, but it was making me feel little to no emotion about the fact.
I'll continue onto the next book at some point, because I can. I'm also hoping that the next will improve because I did enjoy majority of the characters :) -
Be careful who you trust, the devil was once an angel.
I could write a lot of negative things about the story or characters. But I will not because in fact I enjoyed this book and I am in a good mood now.
I finally felt some connection with characters and I could literaly touch the desire between Summer and Reid. I had a stupid grin on my face almost entire book! I liked how Reid‘s brother Ryan helped Summer to provoke him and how all men in Summer‘s life protected her.
Oh, and please welcome my newest book-boyfriend – Reid Knox
Looking forward to read book 2. -
Well I never got to finish it cause it was THAT bad so I will only review about the 50 pages I managed to read. The book so far was like:
Reid: Hi!
Summer: Oh hi!
Reid: I just met you but you're so hot so I guess I will want you.
Summer: Please, I know I'm hot but for the sake of our readers I will pretend that I don't know it and that I'm decent looking. We really need a good story! Btw you're hot too and I think I already want you.
Reid: No I am not hot. I have a scar and I am sure that you want my brother. But I want you even if I'm not good enough for you and I tell you that.
Summer: Oh look at that, you clearly tell me that you want and that you're not good enough for me, that's why you're acting weird. Yet, I don't get your behavior and you're confusing me. Why do you act like you want me but you back off??
Reid: I told you.
Summer: That's right! You're such a mystery!
Xander: I'm here too, your overprotective younger brother!
Jack: Me too, your weird father.
That's all I got from the book. -
4.5
This book was intriguing. It wasn’t what I expected. I really wasn’t sure if the guys were bikers or fighters or both. And that little mystery kept me guessing.
I liked Summer’s brother Xander. I really want a book for him. They had such a great brother/sister relationship. You could tell that they enjoyed being around each other and that there was genuine affection between them.
I have to say that I loved Reid. He was definitely sexy and moody and I loved him. He had a few moments where I wanted to smack him. Actually, there were some really big moments when I wanted to smash him around like the Hulk. There were two parts in particular where he was such a big idiot, that I was afraid he couldn’t be redeemed for me. But, he did bring me around.
And I have to say that I’m dying for Ryan’s book. Ryan completely cracked me up. He and Summer became such good friends and they had some great conversations between them.
Overall, I have to thank Jay McLean and her book More Than Her for recommending this to me. When Reid Knox was mentioned in that book, I knew I had to read it ASAP! -
I love it!! Love the cover!! Love the synop!!
Heeeelllo, Reid Knox!!!
-
Loved it..full review to come
4.5 Hot Ass Damaged Alpha Stars
I am really enjoying all of these debut authors and their alpha leads, not only in the male lead but also the female. Every book I have read lately has really nailed what I like to read. And if I like it then it's awesome, k? This book was no exception.
It started with the back story of Summer who has been kept from her father and step brother because of her dad cheating on her mama. After Summer is suddenly found alone she decides to take her brother Xander up on his offer to stay with him. Summer thinking this is a temporary arrangement doesn't believe she will find common ground with her father. While still wants desperately to get the love and attention from him that she was denied during childhood. Summer isn't a wallflower and speaks her mind, I love that in a lead. Watching her find a family and realizing that her dad wasn't the bad guy she had always been told he was a great part of the story too. I love a protective man in any capacity, brother, dad, I love em all!
"They seem to think you're the sweetest thing, but I know there's some fire in you."
Summer Kane recently moves in with her half Brother, Xander Kane, after her mother passes away. She’s never really gotten the opportunity to get to know her half-brother since he was a bi-product of Summer’s fathers cheating ways, but now she wants nothing more than to spend every minute of her time getting to know her little brother. Yet Summer soon realizes Xander doesn’t come alone. His three best friends obviously feel at home there and tend to make themselves known at all hours of the day and night. It takes some getting used too at first, but Summer quickly begins to bond with Xander, Ryan, and Dash, with Reid as the exception. Yes Reid is a standoffish prick to Summer, but two can play that game…and Summer is all for it.
“Yes, We all know I have a fucked up face, you don’t need to stare,” he snaps, averting his eyes to the TV. A muscle ticks in his jaw, his posture stiff.
“Actually, I was thinking how sexy you are.”
Reid Knox is a brooding hunk of man beef! He’s the epitome of an alpha male with commitment issues. So when Reid goes to his buddy Xander’s house and is introduced to his gorgeous sister Summer, Reid is immediately pissed. Not pissed because of anything she’s done, but just for the simple fact that she’s beautiful and he wants nothing more than to make her his. But Reid knows the strain that would put on his relationship with not only Xander, but also their father. Plus Reid felt she deserved better than him. Afraid if she knew what he really did for a living, Reid pulls out the asshole card in hopes that it would push her away. What he didn’t bet on was the fact that he just gave Summer an open invitation.
“I shouldn’t want you. I’m not good enough for you. I know it and you know it. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting you. Just being near you… You bring me peace, beauty.”
This was a hott one and Chantal Fernando didn’t disappoint. I gave this one 4.5 Stars!!!
Reid and Summer were two strong and independent characters which I enjoyed getting to know. I was so glad Summer wasn’t hung up on her mother’s death and that the story focused on her moving on. She was a dominant character who knew exactly what she wanted, and that’s exactly what I look for in a lead female role.
Reid was also very dominant and controlling but he also had this commitment issue. There were moments I wanted to kill Reid, but other moments where I just swooned over him. But once he finally got over himself and gave into his feelings, the chemistry between Reid and Summer was off the charts sexy!
Getting to know all of the guys was my favorite part. They each had their own different personalities and kept me chuckling throughout. Not only were they funny but HELLOOOO they were HAWT!:p
Now what I'm most looking forward too is Ryan’s book! I can’t wait… I loved Ryan’s quirky character. He’s sure to bring a lot to the plate in book 2.
Maybe This Time -
This book sucked me in from the beginning.. It's starts with our heroine Summer, who is 19 years old and is picking her 18 year old brother up from jail. The thing is Summer and her brother Xander have never met in person. Why? Because her mother was a self loathing bitch..not to speak ill of the dead and all.
So, Summer and Xander's daddy cheated on Summer's mother and knocked someone else up and that's how Xander became. However the reason on why Summer never met Xander was bit iffy, because if I knew I had a half brother out there somewhere (which I hope I don't) I would put my foot down and meet him. Not wait til mommy dearest passes away and finally growing some courage.
So, Xander totally over protective, all tatted up, part of Daddy's MC... total opposite of Summer, however they hit it off right away. She moves in with Xander, and he has a lot of friends so boys/men are coming in and out of the house. Annnnnd.. there are these twins Ryan and Reid, hot as hell! Ryan is the sunshine where Reid is brooding, mean and just rude. She is attracted to Reid, he is attracted to her, however he has his secrets and is not ready to settle.
Now in the beginning I loved their banter, however grew tired of it quickly. I was cheering Summer on, thought her attitude was the shit, and she all together was bad ass... however that changed sooner than later, once Reid started paying some attention she went from self assured, to insecure and annoying.
He treated her shit and she was like a hungry dog waiting for the next scrap!
Me, personally I didn't see this "specialness" in Reid. Too many personalities and all that. I would have been happy with Ryan, since they are identical (minus the scar) but the bonus a great personality!
It was entertaining, I will probably re-read it one day.
The epilogue though? It sucked.. I wish it concentrated more on a future.. -
W.T.F
I want the hours of my life back spent reading this!! Seriously, should have cut my losses in the beginning when it wasn’t working for me. This is the 2nd book I’ve read by this author, and I’m truly baffled at how I could LOVE her newest book and completely LOATHE this one. We are talking opposite ends of the spectrum here, no meeting in the middle.
I absolutely hated Reid. Summer was a fucking doormat and pathetic. He called her a bitch, cheated on her, left for a month with no word and she takes him back at his “I’m sorry Beauty” every time. I did not like Summer because she was so weak. I never even felt her connection with Reid. He was an irredeemable asshole and she was a pushover with absolutely no backbone.
There is only ONE book I think I’ve ever hated more than this one. -
Reid Knox. Angry. Frustrating. Alpha. HOT.
Summer and Reid are not meant to be together, from the protective father and brother, the secret lives they live and all the other interfering girls..... But somehow, we see that their bond keeps breaking through.
We get to meet Summers wonderful brother, and Reid's funny twin brother Ryan, plus a whole bunch of other characters that make you feel like you are one of them when you are reading. It was written so well that I felt like I really knew the characters. There was lots of playful banter, to keep the mood light when trouble starts brewing and there are moments you wanna scream and laugh!
I don't want to give too much away, but Maybe This Time is a great read. -
I like this book. Easy writing style and a light read. The characters are great, Reid was a bit annoying at first but he is really romantic and good. I can't say that the story blew me away. It is too predictable and I am a bit disappointed because the ending was a MEH.

OMG!!Do you hear that? Yes its me fan-girling over Chantal. Why you ask, because I just got to spend 6 hours locked in Holy Mother of Alpha world with Reid Knox.I love when you start a book and instantly become drawn in.She had me from 5% and never let go.I was unsure at first thinking- oh wow, these kids are young.Reid is 23 and by the time he opened his mouth his age flew out the window and my wanting to do things to his body came flying in.Wait! Not only do you have a hot,bad-ass,protective fighter you also get a sassy, feisty and headstrong female.Reid puts the first Bam in my Bam Bam.He growls, mumbles, tosses attitude and says things like "MINE" its freaking hot.If you are looking for a sweet book about love and learning who you are and how to walk away from revenge when it feels right then look no further. Its a feel good book that is a must read with a little twist.Add in some mistakes being made and women you will want to throttle and you have an evening of book love.
I loved Summer and her smartass comments.I swear she was never at a loss for words even being surrounded by bossy men.She held her own and the verbal sparring with her and Reid is why I love reading these type of books.Summer is 19 and is moving to live with her brother who she has never met. They instantly bond of course how could you not because, Xander is so protective and loyal your heart just melts.Once she arrives she is introduced to Reid and Ryan the holy hotness twins themselves. The attraction is instant for them and Summer has no trouble letting Reid know that she finds him attractive. The crazy back and forth relationship starts and possessive Reid Knox begins.
The only thing I can say after reading this is I want to be one of Reid's bitches.Yes that is just how swoon worthy he can be.All his badboy-ish attitude melted my old woman panties right off me.I can't wait to continue this series. What can I say "I'm in to deep" now and have to have more of these men.Write faster Chantal I need Ryan now!!!

Oh oh oh...sneak attack!!!
Soooo, I was Chantal's beta and let me tell u.. wowzaa!!!
I think I have found my new underground MMA obsession! Because Reid Knox is the sexiest thing I have had the pleasure of reading in a while. You Travis lovers have found competition in the form of TWINS!!! hahaha YES! Chantal went there.
Ok, so what was this book about?
Summer goes through a loss and has to relocate to stay with a part of her family she doesn't know all that well, except from what she's been told. Xander, her brother, lives in a house that's constantly over flowing with his friends and I guess you can call them associates as well. The night she gets there she meets none other than Reid Knox and his brooding temper. She can't stand his attitude, but what she can't look past is his sexy looks.
Reid is hiding secrets that seem to spill oput onto the pages of this book, I mean right after you find out one another one just rolls right on out. I couldn't take all the mystery! I mean come on! Chantal I know you will read this so I gotta say you killed me! LOL. But, really I loved him and his temperamental ways and I couldn't get enough. You DO NOT mess with what belongs to him and that DOES include Summer.
Their relationship doesn't just bloom over night, do they want each other? Yes. Do they have that sexy desire to tear each others clothes off? UM HELL YES!! But, you have to build into that, Summer is not some dumb 19 year old girl who just likes the bad boy. She is so much more with everything she's been through you have to respect her for that. She needs Reid to open up to her about all the insecurities causing them not to be able to move on into a relationship and until he can be honest she will wait to go there.
Ryan is Reid's twin brother and turns out to be Summer's BFF, I loved them together. You may think there friendship is a bit skewed, but it's perfect none the less. Ryan is her rock throughout the book and I had to appreciate him for everything he did for her.
Summer and Reid find there way to each other and Reid pisses me off more than once, but I loved their story and wouldn't have asked for anything different. Y'all get ready for this book , because once you read the first few words you are immediately sucked in.
Congrats Chantal! You did an amazing job!!!! -
Holy crap, where do I begin? There were so many things I disliked about this book!
*****POSSIBLE SPOILERS******
The character of Summer really pissed me off. What 19 year old acts like that? I know 10 year olds who have a higher maturity level than this chick. She's sweet talking the Knox boys one minute and ready to throw down and knock fists with other equally immature girls the next.
She's been brainwashed into thinking her bro and Dad are bad news and decides to move in with her brother after seeing him for the first time when he gets out of jail? Seriously? She's supposedly hated her Dad all her life but does a complete 180 after 2 conversations with him?
She knows secrets are being kept about her Dad and what he does, but doesn't bother to ASK anyone about it? WTF!?!
Reid -- ho boy what a mess of a character he was! He's fucked his way through the entire county but shits a brick because Summer had ONE previous lover? Yep, there's a keeper!
More than the characters (Reid was a douche AND his hot/cold behavior gave me whiplash, thank you Ms. Fernando) what I really disliked was the way it was written. Oy vey!!
Too much dialogue, too many characters seemingly coming out of nowhere without stories to back up their significance and way too little actual writing. For me, a good book has story AND dialogue to move it along, this had way too much of the latter.
Also the setting of the story is never really described-- I'm guessing somewhere in the UK (although after reading up on the author, it may have been in Australia perhaps) judging by the dialogue spoken throughout.
It was verbose, predictable, and seemingly rushed to have published. Not a fan. I "needa" get those 2 hours of my life back.... ;-P -

[Edited]
Heey you all if you want alpha male. Chantal fernando books is the answer :D

Oh i wanted to kill mia!! Going to torture her until she dead! Arrrgghhh
And for me summer are funny and bossy at same times but heck girl you really so easy when it come to reid!

2.5 stars
it started out pretty strong, but then it was drama overload. I need a neck brace for the whiplash I got from the MCs. too much immaturity and acting like toddlers. the reactions and all the resolutions just confused me. I skimmed through a lot of it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have finished -
3.5 stars.
I enjoyed this book. The family is unique-ish & their friends are a solid group.
I read the book in one sitting...so that is good!
