After that, any attempts to keep him at arm’s length falter in the face of his obstinate sexuality. Rubio’s methods are ruthlessly erotic as he introduces her to the pleasures of sadism, bondage, pain, and submission. The more Petra tries to resist him, the more she craves his strength and control.
But as they play their sensual games of dominance and submission, career pressures mount, and an overzealous fan brings dangerous tension to their relationship. Soon, the dream gives way to the stark reality of her vulnerability. Maybe, just maybe, some risks are too terrifying to take.
Fever Dream (BDSM Ballet, #2) Reviews

DNF at 60 %.**2 stars. One extra star for the secondary character Liam (hero of
Waking Kiss)
After reading and enjoying
Waking Kiss my expectations for Fever Dream were very high and it saddens me to tell you that the story didn’t meet my challenges, not by a long shot. I still can’t believe it. After a great beginning which was so much fun, I never thought I wouldn’t like Fever Dream. Everything went south when Rubio spanked Petra at Liam’s house (around the 22 % mark). How silly was that scene? Also, I can’t believe that he bound and spanked a vanilla girl without a prior SERIOUS TALK. There was no build-up whatsoever—only a super horny Rubio who couldn’t wait to jump the heroine’s bones. What followed suit was a very awkward sex scene at Rubio’s and plenty of silly conversations. Plus, I couldn’t stand Petra’s antics and her babbling nonsense all the time. Sheesh, she better make up her mind! Since I read and enjoyed Waking Kiss, I knew Rubio as a crude and insulting asshat but not as someone who made a TOTAL fool of himself. Yeah, jumping-jack said to say hello. WTF? The stupid nonsense that came out of his mouth was mind-boggling. No real man talks like that. Never. Ever.
My first eye roll moment:
He stared at her a moment, then he snorted. "You have sub all over you like fucking body oil. Is leaking out of your pores."
"It is not."
"I knew you were a sub from the second I met you. I just wasn't sure you knew it."
Thanks for a good laugh. Is Rubio psychic?
Another "memorable" scene…
(…) Oh, she'd had orgasms, plenty of them. This wasn't an orgasm. This was a whole-body death and resurrection. *snort*
"My cock was so happy inside you." *double eye-roll moment*
"I don't care if you want to live your own life. I won't make any demands. Only tease you and hurt you and fuck you, and maybe sometimes I'll pee on you in the shower--" I think his brains went down the plug hole.
"We could be together, you know. I think you're out of balance. Too much work, not enough play. You have sad, horny eyes." Yeah, right. O__o
"Let's see how my pretty Petra feels. Oh…" He pretended to be shocked. "Wet as an Ocean. Wet and horny. It's a waste though. We're not using your pussy today."
During another scene she's very distraught because but he gets a hard-on. *facepalm*
"No, I didn't, and I don't. I don't want you," she snapped, turning away. "And I don't want you to make me want you when I don't want to want you. I don't want you tempting me to want you just because you can, when I've already said I don't want you."
In case you were wondering, that's Petra babbling nonsense.
Honestly, I love reading BDSM books and it is very unfortunate that Fever Dream didn’t do it for me. Although it’s hardly a surprise considering the less than appealing dialogue as well as the strange sex which was neither hot nor sexy, let alone erotic. If anything, it was coarse and a real turn-off. Let's face it, a great BDSM book provides so much more than silly spanking scenes and quick f@cks. Besides, Ruby actually hit her (at 51 %) and I wouldn't call that "taking care of a sub." He simply ignored her signs of distress.
There was absolutely no chemistry whatsoever between these two. Nada. Zilch. Also, I must say that one hour puttering around in my kitchen evokes more emotion in me than these silly sex scenes could ever accomplish. If I have the desire to read these kind of sex scenes then I can watch a porn movie. Simply put, fabulous sex is more than sticking a c@ck in a c@nt. I want more than inserting tab A into slot B. What I want are heartfelt feelings and emotions. Plus, I want believable dialogue and characters.
Since I DNFd the book I've missed out on the Ugh! Boy, am I ever glad that I didn't have to read that scene. I decline gladly and I'm pretty sure I would have deducted the second star again. What's it going to be next time? A
In any case, don't mind my little rant and happy reading!

3.5-4 Dancing Stars!
When I read Waking Kiss a few months ago, I fell in love with Rubio. He was hilarious, charismatic, sexy and a self centered asshole. He still has some of those characteristics in Fever Dream, but he has changed some. Four years after Waking Kiss, Rubio is losing his dancing parter, Ashleigh. He is very upset about this. No matter how good the other ballerinas are, no one can take her place. The directer of the company brings in a ballerina just as talented and famous as Rubio. Her name is Petra.
Petra has been a dancer for as long as she can remember. Both of her parents (her estranged father, especially) were famous dancers. Her life is dance. Petra is sick of living in NY, so she moves to London. She is going to dance with Rubio, or so she thinks. He isn’t so excited about the idea. It was nice to see someone stand up to the asshole version of Rubio. It’s safe to say, at first, these two don’t get along.
“I can’t stand her,” he said to Ashleigh as soon as they brought her up. “Really, she is the biggest bitch ever.” “Ruby,” Ash chided. “ heard she’s really nice.” “She’s about as nice as someone who kicks dogs and drinks baby’s blood.”
Despite Ruby’s attitude towards her, Petra joins the company anyway. It doesn’t take long for these two to realize that they are amazing together.
Rubio and Petra have a ton of sexual tension. Dancing together just intensifies it. One night after their performance, Petra decides to sneak over to Liam’s on a Saturday night. Anyone who has read book one knows what happens at Liam’s on a Saturday night. After fantasizing about Rubio for weeks, she wants to see him. Outside of dance. Even though these two have a strong attraction and connection, Petra is terrified to end up like her mother and father. She knows how easy it would be with Rubio, so she decides to keep her distance.
It would be all too easy to fall head over heels and sacrifice everything, her entire career, for this hedonistic playboy.
It’s not as easy as it seems. This couple has a lot of back and forth. They both want each other, but Petra’s insecurities make it challenging to be together. In any way except sexually. For the fist time ever, Ruby wants to be with someone in every way possible. He’s falling for her.
“I don’t know what love is all about,” Ruby said, and that was the truth. “I just want her closer to me.”
And as much as she doesn’t want to admit it, she is falling for him as well.
Petra must decide if she is willing to take a chance on Rubio, despite all her fears...
Fever Dream was a highly anticipated new release for me. After finishing the book, I feel conflicted on how to rate it. The first 65% or so went a little slow for me. It didn’t capture my attention, and in my opinion, it didn’t measure up to Waking Kiss. However, 66% and on it got much better for me. That whole Christmas scene, which lasted like 10% was sexy, sensual and hot damn... it was so hot! It had some action and conflict with the whole stalker thing. I loved Rubio, loved seeing his different sides...
funny Rubio
“I know I’m rude sometimes. I know I always touch your tits and pretend it was an accident. I know, it’s bad.”
hot and dominant Rubio
“I want to fuck you, Petra.” he said, pulling away from her. His dark eyes glittered with mayhem. “That’s what you need, yes? To get fucked like a naughty little slut?”
sweet Rubio
“I die every time I touch you.”
Petra frustrated me at times, but I feel like she was a good match for Rubio. It was really nice to catch up with Liam and Ash. I adore them both. In the end, I would give the first 65% of this 3 stars, and the last 4 or 4.5. So my rating will be somewhere in between. For me, it wasn’t as good as Waking Kiss, but still a good read.
Thanks for the buddy read, Kara & Foxy :)) -
4* The Prima and the Prince STARS!!
The continuation of Waking Kiss with different main characters. Liam's kinky and arrogant friend, Fernando Rubio. He's rude and spoiled. Although, Rubio is super talented and worshiped like a God among the ballet. I couldn't connect with him in the first book because his attitude kinda major turn off, but now, Rubio got his own story!
Let's meet Petra Hewitt, a top rank and prima ballerina. They first met was a total disaster. Rubio couldn't control his attitude and Petra never knew such a man exist. Sexy brilliant dancer with vulgar mouth also grabby hands. It seems they've mutual attraction. Rubio never face a challenge like Petra. A perfectionist and a girl who doesn't afraid of him. Even BDSM couldn't stop Petra to know more about Rubio.“You torture me, every day, every hour. You’re a very bad girl.”
“I don’t mean to torture you, but I’m scared. You scare me in so many ways.”
“Do you think I’ll hurt you?”
“Yes. I think you’ll steal part of my soul.”
He tilted her head back to look in her eyes. “Really? You believe that?”
“Yes. I want you so bad, but I’m scared. I’m so scared of what you’ll do to me.”
“Ah, querida, ...You know what, though? Is okay to be scared.”
I just wanna say that this couple was much better than previous, Liam and Ashleigh. More into my taste. Petra and Rubio were like cat-and-mouse. It was so entertaining with their struggle with chemistry. Work hard, play hard! Rubio was already known as a Top, not Dominant. But when Petra enter his world, he's more becoming like Dominant even still far away from Liam. He's still kinky AF and I loved it! Maybe there were some 'overrated' terms between them like how Petra suddenly feels so submissive.
With a different setting, there's a mysterious stalker who haunted Petra also both Liam and Ashleigh have important role in the story. I liked a bit thrill inside the romance. Anyway, Rubio couldn't forget about Petra and keep pursuing her. Even Rubio promise safe and kinky relationship with Petra, she's starting to open up with problems. She's very vulnerable and skeptical about their relationship. But I enjoyed every kinky sex they did except for the 'Christmas present'.“I could teach you everything about dominance and submission. About pain and pleasure and giving yourself up.” His fingers closed over her clit in a tightening pinch. “You want to give up control, I know it. You want to be my special toy, my lover. My sweet sex slave. Only for me.” ~Rubio
My issue is Petra was too agreeable and too horny to think. She was quickly hooked with all fetish and sex with Rubio. Overall, it was an enjoyable read with a healthy amount of sex and hedonism.

5 breathe taking STARS!!!
I am a fan of any one of Annabel's books. She could write down her day to day activities, and I would love to read it, and probably request more.
Rubio finally has his own book!!! I was anxious to read his POV. He was very mean in the last book. Very, self centered. Rubio is such an asshole in this book the same way. But he made me laugh from the very beginning. His English not so good. LOL. Cracks my shit up. He is very pissed off from the very beginning of this book.
It starts off right where we left off in Waking Kiss. He is upset when he finds out his partner Ashleigh is no longer going to be his dance partner. He was down right mean about the whole situation. Now Rubio is need of finding a new partner. Should be easy because he is the best male dancer there is out there! Mater of fact! Well Petra so happens to be the best dancer also. These two did not get off to the right start when meeting.
"Me and my big feet do not want to dance with you,"
"I need a partner with grace and lyrical beauty. Not a big-forehead robot like you."
"No matter her misgivings, no matter his guff rudeness, as artist they belonged together, as did their hands, their feet, every part of their painstakingly trained bodies. Rubio was the dark to her light, the strength to her grace, the premier to her prima. Damn it. Why did it have to be him?
These two are literally soul mates in the ballet. There connection when they are dancing together is so, intimate, graceful, beautiful. They can be come legend just dancing together. They could make super ballet human babies together. Yes... They are that perfect together.
This book gets STEAMY . Probably the best sex scenes I have read in a while. My favorite sex scene is the It was out of this world let me stop at that.....
Yes this is a Ballet and BDSM book. There is also a suspense feel going on in here. Which takes it up the notch for me and made me not want to stop reading till I finished it. Brilliant Annabel!!!

My Petra and Rubio:
Petra is the world best prima ballerina with daddy's issues. When Rubio needs new dancing partner, she seems like the best choice. Will Rubio's intense sexuality be too much for Petra? Or will Rubio finally find his match?
I thought that Rubio would be amazing character. Sometimes funny, sometimes obnoxious, big-headed, extremely talented... The list goes on and on. He hides his insecurities, never shows his true feelings. Yes, he may behave like a prick, but he can be very charismatic if he wants. That is how I remember him from previous book, where he was a supporting character. But he was just a caricature of that person in this book.
Comparing to previous instalment in this series
Waking Kiss, this book was not so attention grabbing. It just didn't work as BDSM story for me. Rubio may be kinky and interesting character, but he was no dominant. I was expecting some resistance from such a big player as Rubio, but he was enamoured by Petra from very beginning which made some parts of this story a little bit boring for me. I was definitely expecting more angst in their relationship. And sex scenes were too boring...
Fever Dream is not a bad book, I'm sure plenty people will love it. But I wasn't charmed by this book at all.

4 RUBIO LOVING, HOT, BRAZILIAN STARS!
This is the second installment of the BDSM Ballet series but can be read as a standalone. In book 1 Waking Kiss the story focused on Liam and Ashleigh and Rubio played a supporting role. This book is Rubio's story I guess it was time for an insight on Rubio's life. I absolutely adored him in Waking Kiss even though he was big-headed, horny and obnoxious. He made me laugh anda lot of timessome times I wanted to slap him for being an idiot but overall he was definitely a lovable character. There was always more to him than his behaviour and I couldn't wait to explore.
The book starts off and you find out that Ashleigh is having a baby and won't be doing ballet anymore which shocks Rubio, he is upset and angry about losing his partner.Finding a new partner with Rubio acting like a child is close to impossible until Petra walks in.To he shock she finds out that "The Great Rubio" doesn't know anything about her arrival and doesn't want her as a partner.
"Me and my big feet do not want to dance with you," Fernando snapped."I need a partner with grace and lyrical beauty. Not a big-forehead robot like you."
Petra is a new character who is a great dancer, she wants to get away from her past from the shadows cast by her father who is a legend in Ballet and wants nothing to do with Petra. Most of her life she has been trying to get her fathers attention yet he has never once looked at her as a daughter.Trying to start in a new place with a partner like Rubio who frustrates her isn't something she wanted but she will do her best and get through it. She just has to make sure she doesn't fall in love with him because that would be the worst thing. She can't be like her mother and go through what she went through.
What are you up to now?" she asked in the lengthening silence.
.I wish I was up your pussy, he thought.
This book made me laugh and fall in love with Rubio especially knowing what he went through and how he got so far, his relationship with his mother and well he is all round brilliant!
“You have sad, horny eyes.” – Rubio
“I do not have sad horny eyes. That’s not even a thing. Some crazy shit comes out of your mouth, you know that?” – Petra
Petra annoyed me I really wanted to shake her and scream Wake Up!! to her because well..she needed to wake the hell up and stop living in the past. She kept pushing Rubio away and all it did was piss me off. There was a lot more BDSM scenes in this one than book 1 I think and you see the dominant Rubio the one in control. He had a tough childhood and it all shows. He likes control due to not having any throughout his childhood. He acts immature at times and you are like wtf man? But if you look at it through his eyes he didn't exactly have a normal childhood/teenage life he had to grow up fast and now that he has money, power, control he feels ahh so what if I act immature! ;)
I really enjoyed being in Rubio's head and in the end I didn't end up hating Petra so that's a plus. Ending was brilliant and overall this is a good book!

4.3 Hedonistic Playboy Stars
“We could be together, you know. I think you’re out of balance. Too much work, not enough play. You have sad, horny eyes.”
---------------------------------------
*full review to come* -
"“Yes. I want you so bad, but I’m scared. I’m so scared of what you’ll do to me.”
These three-point-five stars are all for each and every single time Rubio used "is" instead of "it's" because for some reason, it never failed to get me all hot and bothered. But in all seriousness, I've wanted Rubio's own book ever since I read Waking Kiss. He really puts the "c*ck" in cocky and all that attitude mixed with a broken English and strong Portuguese accent definitely equaled to one deliciously spicy-hot package.
“Ah, querida... you know what, though? Is okay to be scared.”
"I was lost back then. Now I'm found."
Rubio and Petra's partnership as ballet dancers was like 'Clash of the Titans' in the ballet industry since they were two of the best of the best in their field... diva attitude included. But of course, intense attraction ensues and neither of them can deny their growing desire for each other.
Now here comes the bad part... why the hell was there an insta-love between them, more especially on Rubio's part? I was very much looking forward to having a lot of back and forth banter and battle of wits between them but that happened only in the very first parts then voila! They just easily gave in to one another without much development and proper progression in their relationship. That's basically my main gripe with this story. The fact that Rubio became a sappy lovesick puppy almost immediately... like waaaay sappier than Liam ever was (who happens to be just as perfect as he was in the first book btw). Sigh.
Still, I ended up loving the Rubio and Petra's story and I really liked the fact that Ashleigh and Liam were heavily present as well. In fact, a lot of my favorite scenes included them. All the quirky and witty remarks still had me giggling, especially when I imagined Rubio's strong Portuguese accent and broken English. Once again, the whole BDSM aspect didn't really do much for me (just not feeling the whole scene) but the scenes after all the hitting were quite steamy if I do say so myself *wags eyebrows*. All in all, I wished there was less details with the whole stalker thing so there was more suspense with that aspect and more attention to how Rubio and Petra's relationship progressed before they eventually gave in to their attraction. That sweet epilogue got my heart melting, though. I still highly recommend this one to those who loved Waking Kiss!

Since I only made it to 49% I will not rate this book. I loved the first one in this series, but no matter how much I love that hot BDSM ballet Brazilian, I just am not interested in finishing... moving on....

This was definitely one of those guilty pleasure books. I felt a tad bit wrong while reading it but at the same time it felt so good.
I try to rate books within their genre so in the erotic/BDSM genre, this one definitely stood out. I’ve only read one other Annabel Joseph book before but I really enjoy her writing. I love that her books are still pretty smutty without crossing over into lewd or vulgar territory. She handles the BDSM lifestyle very tastefully and doesn’t treat it as some cheap hobby people have.
Fernando Rubio aka The Great Rubio was introduced in the first book of this series (which I didn’t read) and is the premier ballet dancer for the London City Ballet. He meets prima ballerina, Petra Hewitt after his partner of a few years retires. Petra and Rubio don’t like each other at all when they first meet, and almost refuse to work together.“Me and my big feet do not want to dance with you.” Fernando snapped. “I need a partner with grace and lyrical beauty. Not a big-forehead robot like you.”
But when they danced together, it was pure magic.
Petra
The Great Rubio
After their first show together, Petra follows Ruby to a BDSM party at his friends house and accidentally runs into him. Since she found out about his kinky preferences, Petra had grown more and more curious about the lifestyle. Soon they begin to play a dangerous game, finding the thin line between pleasure and pain. But with Petra’s past catching up to her, will their dark, sensual affair disappear like a dream?
First off, holy hotness! This book was scorching right from the beginning. Even when Petra and Ruby were fighting, sparks were flying. And the sex scenes…yeah don’t even want to get into those. Just make sure you’re sitting in a cool, well-ventilated area while reading. There is a foursome, which might make some people uncomfortable. But it wasn’t awkward or weird, well it was very kinky, and didn’t seem totally out of place.“And I wasn’t offering you a choice, I was telling you what was going to happen. So take your clothes off and we’ll get started.”
Petra has lived her life perfecting her craft, trying to get the father who abandoned her to notice her. A lot of her issues stemmed from these abandonment issues, which was why she was so hesitant to let Ruby in. I loved her passion for dance and how she could give herself over to Ruby. Despite keeping him at arms length, I could feel how much Petra trusted him. And she’s kind of a little spitfire. Yes, in the bedroom she’s a sub. But everywhere else she’s not afraid to stand up for herself and doesn’t give in to anyone, not even The Great Rubio.
Ruby is that lovable combination of asshole and sweet. I started reading the first book and I would say he’s toned down his asshole-ish tendencies a bit in this one. And he is definitely all alpha male; don’t let the ballet dancer fool you. His struggles with the English language were adorable and I could feel how much he cared for Petra. I loved that he owned who he was and didn’t make any apologies for it. And behind the jerk exterior is a very sweet, caring guy who can be really protective.“You make me happy, always. Even when we fight, an hour later I want to love you again because of your smile, and how you make me feel.”
This book isn’t super emotional and I don’t think we dove deep enough into Ruby and Petra’s past but I could still feel the connection between them. I kind of love when it’s an enemies-to-lovers type of scenario because it’s hilarious to watch 2 people pretend to hate each other while really wanting to just rip each others clothes off. Besides during sex, Petra and Ruby also connected on the dance floor and were truly magnificent together. Their passion for dance really shined through and I loved how committed they both were.
There was a very sweet, happy ending in this book and it was great to see where Petra and Ruby ended up.
Overall this was one of those really enjoyable books. It may not be the most profound book I’ve ever read but it is special in its own way. I am definitely curious about some of the Annabel’s other books and can’t wait to see what happened in Liam and Ashleigh’s story.
“Rubio was the dark to her light, the strength to her grace, the premier to her prima.”

This is a very strong book covering the beauty of Ballet, BDSM relationships, trust and love.
It picks up after Waking Kiss which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is an additional element of a stalker adding to the plot.
If you love dance with the added ingredient of intense "play”, you will not be disappointed. -

Fever Dream is my new favorite Annabel Joseph book. That's a crazy thing for me to say, cause I LOVE everything Annabel Joseph writes and, even as I write this, I'm feeling Matthew Norris (Mercy) and Jeremy "#TheOriginalMrGray(tm)" Gray (Comfort Object) burning holes into my back with their glares. Not to mention Court (Disciplining the Duchess) and Duncan (Cait and the Devil)... They're scary, okay, people? So, for me to say that Fever Dream is my favorite should tell you just how awesome this book is.
Fever Dream is the story of the Great Fernando Rubio and Petra Hewitt - the top ballet dancers of their time. There is so much chemistry between them that explodes off the page. You feel it from their first meeting where they battle it out and the ever charming Rubio says:
"You have a tragically big forehead."
Oh so charming. Kinda like when boys pull their crush's hair in the playground.
Rubio is so much fun, in that frustrating-playground-boy way. And then he gets down to business and is The Great Rubio, Ballet God!
And then he becomes this Sex God who melts panties and makes girls scream and cry. And by `girls' I mean Petra. To her dismay.
She hoped to God that Rubio was gross and unattractive while he was having sex. She hoped he had a terrible "o" face and no rhythm and a miniscule dick. She hoped the BDSM stuff was cheesy and laughable.
Fat chance, little girl, cause see above. Is a fact - Petra has no chance.
I got immersed in their battles of will and their panty-melting (see above for confirmation) encounters. The story is just so absorbing, beautiful, and engaging. It is HAWT (there's a whole chapter of HAWT) and fun. Once you pick it up, I can guarantee that you won't be able to put it down. Annabel Joseph knows how to capture her audience. It's a combination of her easy-to-read writing style and the authenticity with which she writes due to her extensive experience with both the ballet world and BDSM. That experience adds so much realism and depth to the characters, the sex & BDSM scenes, as well the nuances of Dominance and submission.
I would recommend this book, this series - BDSM Ballet - to anyone who enjoys well written BDSM romance, dominant men, and beautiful ballet. And anyone with a sense of humor will ADORE this book. It should come with a warning - don't drink anything while reading (for the safety of nearby objects that may end up drenched with whatever was in your mouth before you snort it up your nose and then expel it all over the place...I speak from experience) and keep your battery operated boyfriend close. Especially when you near the notorious Chapter Sixteen.

Three and a half stars
I loved the first book better.
I like this book very much but something about Ruby and Pet just didn't work as Liam and Ash for me.
But still it's an enjoyable journey.
The epilogue adds half a star for me. -

Fever Dream was fantastic….on so many levels it just about delivered everything you’d want and more from one of Annabel Joseph’s books. It was so passionate, beautiful, emotional, erotic and incredibly funny and sexy. My favourite bit? Rubio….Rubio the lovable arse from book one; Waking Kiss. This is his turn to properly shine and entice and wow did he do just that. He’s still arrogant and condescending, sexy, and funny. However, this time throw that fierce protective streak in and a dash of vulnerability and strong kink and he just became one of my favourite heroes in this genre!! I bloody LOVE this man, The Great Rubio!!! Sigh…
‘He had an aura, a way of moving that communicated both sensuality and masculine power.”…”with his tousled black hair and dark eyes, and that carved Brazilian jaw line.’ – Petra
The combination of the ballet and beautifully written characters just sweeps you away into an intense and stunning escape where your emotions will be racing all over the place as the angst, the drama and the love heightens. Oh and this one is intensely HOT with hard play…there’s no other word for it really, you may need to escape to the freezer whilst reading certain scenes! One in particular…bloody hell I thought I was going to pass out!
Now, who doesn’t want to strangle Rubio, seriously this man is still an arse but this time you kind of get why.
‘For the first time in a long time, The Great Fernando Rubio felt insecure and a bit threatened, and he didn’t like that at all.’ – Rubio
Sure he’s infuriatingly cocky, (his command of the English language is still funny), but feeling abandoned and excluded does that to a person right? It totally justifies saying someone has an unnaturally large and ugly forehead? Well…hmm maybe not.
“I need a partner with grace and lyrical beauty. Not a big-forehead robot like you.” – Rubio
For those of you who haven’t read Waking Kiss yet I’ll try and not spoil it for you. But basically, Rubio finds himself without a dance partner. His best mate Liam, the ballet benefactor and security expert from book #1, forces a new partner on him who will literally rock him to the core. The beautiful and brilliant dancer Petra. Neither make a very good first impression on each other and if words and looks could maim and kill…well. There’d be no Romeo & Juliet showing on the London Ballet scene. So, they say when we’re kids we taunt the ones we ‘love’…well it carries into adulthood in Rubio’s case. But seriously, this amazing man had me in fits of laughter at times, Annabel Joseph’s writing is so fantastically brilliant that you hear him in your head, with that accent, and you can’t help but laugh. And I have to say when he’s in his sadistic element, this guy is, what did I say earlier? Intensely HOT!!
“You have sad, horny eyes.” – Rubio
“I do not have sad horny eyes. That’s not even a thing. Some crazy shit comes out of your mouth, you know that?” – Petra
So, the emotional, dramatic and passionate journey that Rubio and Petra embark upon begins when Petra gate crashes a BDSM party at Liam’s house. This party jump starts a relationship that’s suddenly anything but professional.
‘He wished she wasn’t such a hard ass bitch. He wished she was a horny, cowering, deeply masochistic submissive, so he could run amok all over her delectable body until she broke down and cried. But no, she wasn’t. Too bad.’ – Rubio
Not that Petra wants anything other than to dance with Rubio (even that is reluctantly the case). She tries to fight him off, fight off the feelings he shockingly inspires deep within her
‘She could dance, but she couldn’t love. She was too scared, too selfish. She was a dancing robot…’ – Petra
But hey she’s human and Rubio is…well Rubio. That man would melt the hardest ice with his sexuality and commanding voice alone. No one would be safe! Temperamental and rough, he doesn’t suffer fools gladly and will not take any nonsense.
“I’m staring because – because_”…..’Because you’re completely ridiculously beautiful and because I’m insane. And because I want to take you up on every one of those offers right now.’ – Petra
Well, Petra sure makes an impression and we see the effect she has on him, how she brings out his heart closer to the surface of that hard exterior. It’s quite frankly heart breaking yet inspiring at times, which Annabel Joseph does best.
Lives are threatened, scandals are exposed and hearts play with fire as important self-discovery is made on both sides.
Now, the BDSM……if you don’t like it, don’t read this series, and definitely don’t read this book. If you do enjoy it, well, you’re in for a scorcher, a real treat to be exact! Enjoy it with a glass of wine sitting in your bath of ice!
‘Is okay to be scared. Is okay to be scared. Is okay to be scared.’ – Petra
Seriously love this Author, if that wasn’t quite clear yet hahaha! I mean I’m no fan of the ballet but her characters and her writing makes me want to jump on the train into London and head straight over to watch it…..then I want to watch Rubio…in any dance! Preferable the horizontal variety…..Too much?!

I was so looking forward to Rubio's story, and it didn't disappoint. He frustrated me, and made me laugh in equal measure. He was such a freaking ass at times, but I would have been disappointed if he hadn't been, and had suddenly turned into a different person.
Joseph remained true to the original character from the first book, while giving him extra depth, and us more insight into who he is. He's shallow, conceited, complex, sweet, cruel, funny, innocent, naughty...all combined, he's just a fucking awesome character to read about.
The second book starts off where the first left off; Rubio finds himself without a dance partner for the first time in 4 years, after Ash-leeee becomes pregnant and retires. Rubio of course dose not take this well, and isn't receptive to the idea of a new partner, but has one foisted on him by his friends and the ballet company.
The first meeting between Rubio and Petra is a disaster. Rubio is a huge douche canoe (shocker), and Petra, who's no shrinking violet gives as good as she gets. Despite this less than stellar first encounter, Petra decides to give Rubio a second chance, and when they dance together for the first time, their chemistry can't be denied; they're soul mates on stage, their connection intimate and breathtaking. Even Rubio, who resents the idea of a new partner can't deny it.
This was an incredibly sexy book, from the erotic nature of their dancing, to the raw savage sex scenes. The scenes do involve bdsm, so not for everyone, but if you like your bdsm scorching, this doesn't disappoint.
The BDSM Ballet series has fast become my favourite Joseph series. She has evolved as an author, and while I love almost all of her work, I love the addition of humor to this series. It adds a feel good factor that some of her previous books didn't possess.
5 orgasmic stars. -
4.5 raunchy dirty stars. i loved it! i was a little worried going into this read because i was disappointed when i read book 1 several months ago. luckily, this book was much better. annabel joseph is one of my favorite authors (i have read all of her books except the historical romance ones). this book is one of her best. it is aggressive and raunchy and contains bdsm that is not for anyone easily offended. i recommend reading this series in order, because i think it is worth it and enhances rubio's story in this book, if you were already introduced to him in book one. if you like rough, unforgiving and bossy dom's... you should give this a try. if you liked this book, i would recommend the "comfort" series by this author (it is one of my all time favorites).... specifically "comfort object" and "odalisque".... they are great.

I fell in love with Rubio when I read Waking Kiss. He is quite a character - I love how he talks. I can just hear his accent.
This book is hot. I mean HAWT.
It is definitely BDSM - some parts were a bit difficult for me to get through because I do not like pain involved in sex. The cane was a bit much for me - so heads up if you don't like to read about BDSM.
But Rubio and Petra together were amazing!
I think I enjoyed Liam and Ashley's story a bit better, I connected better with those characters than I did with Petra for some reason.
I do recommend for anyone that is in the mood for a seriously sexy BDSM read. -

OH... to have the lithe body, the discipline, and super-hot ballet dancer to throw me around like a rag doll. To tie me up, spank my narrow ass, and make me his plaything? Fever Dream makes me want all of these things. -
from time to time I heard friends complaining that Goodreads reviews aren't accurate (although personally i haven't read anything Goodreads recommend that is so far off from my own review.) Of course that was before I came across this book. I got the recommendation via Smart Bitches and Trashy book when I wrote to Sarah for some recommendations on books with dancer heroes. Sarah gave me quite a few books to read. I picked this book as my very first one to start because it has the highest review rating on GoodReads unfortunately. Honestly i questioned why this book received such a high review. i found the characters boring, and the storyline extremely silly, even the explicit sex scenes feel meh... there are so many laughable components in this books. where do I even start..
Rubio (Ruby) is a terrible dom (although I am not into this whole BDSM, from my understanding, being a dom is all about control, they like to control others as well as they hold highest regards in self-control. Rubio has a reputation as a groper, he frequently made "mistakes" and touched other dancers inappropriately. What kind of immature dom is that? (inconceivable!!) and really how can anyone like a dom who claimed that he wants to pee on you in the shower?! this is NOT sexy...
and Liam (Rubio's bestie, who is supposedly the owner of this multinational security firm as well as the host of all the BDSM sex party). honestly, i don't even believe for a minute that Liam's security business would actually survive when his employees couldn't even ID check/guest checking the list of his own "sex" party attendees. Petra's able to "gate-crash" the party with a black synthetic wig, (OMFG, a black SYNTHETIC WIG on a ballerina who is supposedly very pale-skin) by simply stating that she is dancing with London City Ballet, which the doormen security replied "she does have the look about her" and let her in the party. next you know, Petra ran into the FULLY NAKED Rubio. oh great.. this is just totally plausible, a sex party, where famous ballet dance walking around naked, and guests actively engaged in various "activities" with minimum security. now do you get why I don't believe Liam's security business would actually survive, let along making internationally successful?! (inconceivable!!)
When they were in the playroom on the Christmas Eve party..
"Can I touch your girl?" Ruby asked Liam
Liam drew his hand back. "Oops. Were we supposed to ask first?" (what the hell..seriously *eye-roll*)
I know these are only few little examples. really if i was to quote everything I found ridiculous, i would probably quote at least a third of the whole book..
and the big twist
I guess one can argue that people don't read this book for the plotline or romance, but for the BDSM sex scenes. but when there is no chemistry/romance between the characters, even the sex scenes seems totally meh.. just awkward, flat and boring. I like my books to have all, a good believable storyline, and most importantly a good romance (even in BDSM format); needless to say, this book fell terribly short in everything. -
Fever Dream (BDSM Ballet, #2) by Annabel Joesph Fever Dream, book 2 in Annabel Joseph's BDSM ballet series is a delightfully funny, erotic, romantic and eye opening story about two ballet stars whose initial dislike of one another blossoms into a sensual romance. A suspenseful stalker subplot adds a bite of angst and turmoil to the story.
Rubio (Ruby) our hero is hilarious. I laughed throughout the entire book. From his outlandish remarks in his not so perfect English to his love of sadism, you can't help but fall in love with him.
He had signed it “R.” He had not written I think you’re marvelous, or You smell like vanilla and sugar, or even I wish you were a horny, cowering, deeply masochistic submissive, and he was glad for that now.
He is so playful in his dominance. He doesn't embrace the recent trend of broody tortured heroes who dominate and use BDSM to overcome a tragedy in their lives. He is vocal in his reasons and they are simple. He likes to give pain and be in control.
“I would like to spank you,” he said, taking the bold and direct approach. “I want to put you in bondage and punish you for being a bad girl. That would be fun, huh?”Her eyes widened. “I haven’t been a bad girl.”“Oh, please,” he said. “You’re a naughty, cock-staring girl. Everyone here knows it.”
Petra was the perfect blending of naivete and boldness. She challenges Ruby from the get go and he can't get enough of her. Her mother's doomed relationship with Petra's father holds tight to Petra and has a hand in shaping her emotional make up. Rubio faces many obstacles trying to get get Petra to let down her emotional shields. And what he says doesn't help.
“My cock was so happy inside you.” He stepped into his jeans, thinking about all the possibilities. “We could do it whenever you liked. Before class, after shows. During rehearsal breaks in my dressing room.”“No.”“I don’t care if you want to live your own life. I won’t make any demands. Only tease you and hurt you and fuck you, and maybe sometimes I’ll pee on you in the shower—”
The sex scenes are outstanding in both heat *get out the ice water and fans* and reveal. Joesph does a fabulous job of incorporating BDSM and making it completely natural. No posing or feelings that we are being "taught" something. It's fun, naughty, intense, and sensual. You never feel like neither of them aren't enjoying their playtime.
Liam and Ashleigh are featured heavily in here adding a sense of family into the story; continuing their story from Waking Kiss. I also love that we are given a epilogue to see where Petra and Ruby are doing down the road.
A winner across the board for me.

Sexy does begin to cover this book! Annabel did it again! Once and again we get to feel the ballet with some twists, great characters, great plot and great secondary characters from the first book.
A MUST READ!
First things first, you should read the first book (
Waking Kiss) before this one. It gives you a better knowledge of all the characters and make this entire even more remarkable.
Again I must say I really find amazing how Annabel gets to captivate you with the very well written ballet scenes. Ballet plays such a big part on this series, we get to see the sexual tension, how the characters deal with their feelings without sounding boring, it's something that adds to the development of the book.
It's really amazing to see Rubio's story. We got to see him as a secondary character on the first book and he was an amazing secondary character! And now we get to see his story and how he mature as a character and its a wonderful experience!
Petra was incredible. I really felt that Annabel found a character to stood up to Ruby! She does not fear him, she challenges him, they both make each other better. You actually get to feel they get better not only as a person, but also in ballet.
Now let's talk about the kinky, sexy part of the book. This is a very very HOT book. Around 67% if I'm not mistaken there's a freaking HUGE sex scene. I don't want to give in more details because I want you to feel the preparation before the scene. Like "they are really going to do this?!".
I must say that was one of the most hottest scenes that I have ever read... I was just =>
I just LOVED this book!
Hello
Annabel Joseph I absolutely want Rico's story! I also wish that we get a little inside on Alanna's story as well. Maybe you should make those two grow up with each other and love each other since childhood but then just discover their true love after partnering up to a ballet dace like their parents! I'm so IN for this book! *lol* -
I'm not a huge fan of Rubio, but I really enjoyed Book 1... I'm on the fence
Petra Hewitt’s the top ballerina in the world, and The Great Rubio her obvious counterpart, so why does she want to strangle him whenever he’s around? He’s haughty, abrupt, demanding—and alarmingly sexy. Petra knows Rubio is dangerous to her heart, to her peace of mind, and worst of all, to her career, but his rough flirtation compels her. When she gets a chance to play with him at a BDSM party, their professional partnership takes a feverish left turn.

Wow! I absolutely could not put this book down. I literally read it in a few hours. I was mesmerized. I loved every second and did not want it to end. Annabel Joseph is an amazing writer. This story tugged at my heart strings and excited me beyond belief. Her character exploration and deep knowledge of ballet are impressive. Rubio and Petra are sizzling together. I loved how this book build upon Waking Kiss. To say that I was jealous of Petra during her scene with Rubio and Liam, would be the understatement of the century. Bravo Annabel Joseph! You have done it again!

Ah, Rubio. This is fantastic, really. Ruby is taken over by Petra. The fall is fast and hard. I'm so happy to see him find someone to match him completely. Also great was the interaction with Ash and Liam. It was nice to see them again, and have them play such an important role in the love of Ruby and Petra. Once again, Annabel Joseph created characters I'll not forget, in a story worthy of their amazing strength, love, and compassion.

Bravo Petra, Rubio and Annabel Joseph!!!
Encore!! Perhaps, Federico's story! ; ) -
Rubio is funny, charming, and sexy hero. The pairing of two best ballet dancers Rubio and Petra creates tension, bantering and awesome chemistry. I still don't find the attractiveness of BDSM schemes, but the storyline, characters, and dialogue are the best elements I like in this book.
#stand alone# awesome hero #stalker -
I definitely liked Rubio more in this book. Overall I enjoyed this book, though of course there were certain things that kept me from giving this book 5 stars. Regardless, I will be reading more from this author.
