Did not finish this book, it was rather difficult to listen and read.

I am not currently in a relationship, but I will sometimes read relationship books to learn about my past mistakes and to learn tips for future relationships. I really picked up this book, though, because I am doing the Kindle Unlimited trial and it was one of the short books that available on Kindle Unlimited that also had narration.
This is a very short read that covers four basic concepts to help you improve your relationship. The four concepts are:
The magic of appreciation and gratitude
Care-full communication
Amping up the sizzling connection of sexual amore, and
The spiritual magic of love.
The author gives a chapter to each concept and readers are supposed to spend a week practicing each concept. Each chapter contains an explanation of the concept, examples, and exercises for using in your own relationship.
There is nothing profound in this book, but there is good basic information to get people started on changing their relationships. From what I could tell, the author discusses these and other concepts in one of her longer books. Perhaps readers will be able to get more information in that book. This book seemed like more of a small piece of a bigger relationship plan. Reading this book, then, may give people a taste of what the author is all about and help them decide if they want to go ahead and read her longer books. -
Target Audience: Prudish, insecure, uncommunicative ladies in a relationship
I am a man, single, and read this book in a day... eventually I began to feel like I shouldn't be reading this, but the intro told me not to worry, but keep pressing on. It became clear by around halfway through that I was not the target audience when it began to go into depth on about stimulating yourself, such as beginning with a vibrator on your face on working south...
Most of the general purpose advice is learned in the beginning while the rest is spent on relationship advice and examples. The concept this book tries to teach the reader is how to open up to giving and receiving compliments. Most useful was the analysis on how we should gauge people's reactions to our efforts before responding appropriately. This is a useful metric to consider when motivating people to maintain positive externalities. -
Easily said. Not easily done. Especially because there is no mention of how to do this with a small child in the house. The exercises are time consuming, so there's no way this could work for a couple with a young child at home. Also, if the couple really is at the brink of separation they will need more than a book to save them. Perhaps reading this while in therapy might be helpful.

I rarely read nonfiction. Kirschner has some good ideas.
