Not bad. Not bad at all. This takes place after the events of the second movie, I believe. Mulder and Scully are living together under assumed names far removed from the X-Files, but before long Skinner shows up to tell them there has been a breach of the FBI's network and we're off and running.
In the space of just a few pages, this book manages to lay the foundation for its story as well as get me interested enough to want to continue on.
The artwork? Mulder looked like Mulder and Scully looked like Scully. I can't ask for much more than that. -
Phew! It's been a while since I've looked at anything X-Files so I was thrilled when I came across this graphic novel via Kindle for free.
Obviously the story takes place well after the end of the TV series (I haven't watched the movies yet) and this is a completely new storyline. The plotline has me totally salivating for more - the story drew me in and, as per usual with comics, it finished right at the juicy bit!
There was an enormous amount of work put into the illustrations with Mulder and Scully looking so life-like. It wasn't necessarily to my taste but that's just a personal choice.
An excellent start to this series of X-Files graphic novels. -
The x files is a show that I've liked for many years. Recently, I've been reading more comics and graphics novels, so decided to give this a try.
It is set much later in the series and in it Mulder and Scully have left the FBI. The story, overall was alright. The characters and plot seemed like the x files that I remember.
I was frustrated towards the end because it came to a sudden stop.
If your a fan of the x files then it is worth checking out.

The art is pretty terrible, but the story (and dialogue) is surprisingly good! Not that I wouldn't read it even if it was trash. I mean, come on. It's the X-Files.

The X-Files franchise is known to be a mess. Even though it's hard to imagine nineties without this show, the main storyline was so messed up and full of contradictions that it felt unbearable at some points. And when Chris Carter and Co decided to bring the show back... it became even worse. But we're not talking about actual season ten today. We're talking about comic, which was released years before the actual thing. So, what is it? Well, as you've probably already guess, it's an attempt to give us the ending we deserved. I mean, even though technically, the final season of the original X-Files run was not the worst one out there and personally, I think that season seven with episodes like Third Person Shooter was way worse, people hated it just because of how unsatisfying it was. Pretty much every single development ended in the most unsatisfying way you may ever imagine. Samantha, The Lone Gunmen, William... it was a disaster. So, maybe this comic will fix things?
Well, at this point it's pretty hard to tell, since this issue doesn't really tell us much. Aside from the fact that it totally ignores the events of 2008 movie called I Want to Believe. Which is probably a good thing, since nobody ever liked that one anyway. This issue shows us its own version of what happened with Mulder and Scully after the events of the original run and... it's not that bad, actually. Aside from the fact that we still get the annoying crybaby version of Scully. But aside from that... pretty tolerable so far. Artwork needs more work, though. Looks like a pretty quick job. The characters are easily recognizable, but the entire thing looks kind of homemade. -
I Want To Believe. And I do, I believe in The X-Files.
Disclaimer: I have been a fan of this show since its original run. I was a Mulder/Scully shipper before I even knew what a shipper was. I was totally invested in the story line, the characters, the show, even Chris Carter! The show was and still is my favorite show of all time.
So, when I saw that, as they did with Buffy and Angel, the story was going to continue through graphic novel I was both psyched and scared to read it. The first seven seasons of The X-Files were excellent. Seasons 8 and 9…well… not so good.
The graphic novel picks up after the second X-File movie, I want to believe. Mulder and Scully are in witness protection (I am still not sure why…). Scully works as a doctor at a clinic and Mulder… I am not sure what Mulder is doing, PI work? Well, someone is after Scully and a big part of the mystery is why. The first few issues threw in everything but the kitchen sink: Skinner, William (yes, THAT William), Cigarette Smoking Man (wait, wasn’t he dead?!), Doggett, Reyes and the super soldiers. They even had flashbacks.
I spent ninety percent of the time confused, in true X-Files fashion. You never really know what is going on. And I am still confused. But, I do not mind! I welcome to confusion, just as I welcome a new chapter of The X-Files.
The story did have a few iffy moments… if say…Reyes and Doggett disappeared, do you not think there would be an extensive search? Well, let’s see how the new issues deal with that.
The art was not the best. Very basic and somewhat gritty.
Overall, great comeback. I can’t wait to read more and… figure out how CMS is back. -

For those among us that were glued to our televisions at the mere mention of Mulder and Scully there is no question but that you will love this graphic novel. It takes off where the last X-Files movie left off. Scully and Mulder are hiding out from the limelight. Mulder has begun to put his memoirs together and Scully has take up her medical knowledge to use and is practicing as a doctor under the assumed name of Blake. Deputy Director shows up on their doorstep to inform them that someone has hacked into the computer files looking for anyone who has ever had anything to do with the X-Files. Who is doing it and why is unknown. Now the safe harbor is in danger and Scully and Mulder are drawn back into the danger and intrigue once more.
We are gifted with the reappearance of the Smoking Man and The Lone Gunman. With Skinner keeping the story cohesive this was a delight to read. I enjoyed my return to bygone days of always looking forward to what new adventure Scully and Mulder would take us on and allow me to join them. True it is not the same as the weekly series, but this is a close second. It keeps our need to know what is out there alive. -
For the most part Volume 1 of X-Files Season 10 in comic form is a warm comfort to fans of the TV show. However, somewhat lackluster artwork kinda makes the first full volume fall short of expectations - at least for me. The story by itself is in good keeping with the story arcs we saw near the finale of the TV show. The characters are true to form and the general feel of the X-Files storyline is present. There is a good amount of suspense and plenty of hmmm moments along the way to keep the story enjoyable. Mixed with plenty of action and a good detective arc, the story is well fleshed out and written. But in the end all that is good about the issue is painted on a canvas that is very lacking. The cover art is beautifully done, unfortunately that is where the beuaty ends and the basic begins. It has been a long time since I've read a comic/graphic novel that had such plain pictorials. The scenes are so bland I would have expected them to be more fitting on a Bazooka Joe strip rather than on anything associated with this large of a franchise. But in the end the entertainment is in the story and the story is entertaining. Hopefully the next volume brings better artwork to the reader.

Excellent comic!
This is a splendid return of the X-Files with Chris Carter and Joe Harris picking up the characters from when we last saw some of them in 2002 at the end of series 9 and some of them in the 2008 movie.
Mulder and Scully are living with pseudonyms and no longer on the Files as per the 2nd movie, but things get disrupted when (a great idea) a group of individuals start hunting down all key players that were involved with The X-Files.
The art is great and gives the appearance of the TV Show with all the right likenesses, the story is instantly gripping and it is just plain fun to pick up these characters again in a genuine approved story. -
Much like with Buffy and Angel, beloved tv series the X files returns with a graphic book version of the continution of the hit show. I am old enought o remeber buying the Dark Horse comic books when they first came out and absolutely love the nostalgic look of this. In the abscence of any more movies, off shoots or reunion shows, this fits the X Files gapo in my life perfectly! Really good for anyone jumping on board the Mulder/Scully train or those who have been with it from the start. Big thumbs up!

Vzhledem k tomu, že je to úvodní část a k tomu velmi krátká, mohly být ilustrace o něco málo propracovanější. Ale tohle jsem si uvědomovala jen na prvním dvoulistu. Na dalších stránkách se totiž dostavil pocit, velmi podobný tomu, který znám z let dávno minulých, když jsem sledovala nové díly na německé televizní stanici PRO7. Komiks jako takový je přesně to, na co mnozí fanoušci Akt X čekali celá léta. Autor textu i ilustrací má cit pro fandom a porozumění pro postavy. Nejlepší je, že se těším na další díl.

X files is back
The series which defined a major timeline of my childhood didn't fail to deliver even in its digital art form and I loved how in short stretch it had captured the entire spirit of the populae series.
Graphic work was clear and supportive of the entire narration and I felt that a special care had been taken so as to not merge flashback narration and then switching to present scenario.
It is definitely a good opening to the sequence that is started by this book which I believe is a part of the five series story

I am so in love with this comic book series. Granted, the comics are EXTREMELY short. It took me a total of five minutes to read the first issue - but what a great five minutes. There is an intriguing plot, just like we're used to it from the show. What I like is that it pays great attention to what has actually happened over the years. William is mentioned for example. This is not some cheap thing without knowledge of the show. The characters are true to those we have come to know and love.

Only their selfless actions, and partnership will bring them threw... This is an interesting continuation of the X files story line, would love to seem more of the story told... the artist did a great job in their drawings, and portrayal of the characters. -
I love The X-Files and actually watched the latest 6-part season this week. I loved it, so I decided to read this on my Google Play app.
It's completely different to the show. Almost like another, completely different episode.
Scully and Mulder are living together and have different names. So when Skinner shows up to tell them the FBI network has been hacked, trouble follows. And a super creepy kid, too. :/

The art is not THAT great, but Mulder & Scully are back for good! I could totally hear Mulder complaining that their guest didn't bring a six pack and a cheese plate! And (of course!) that damn cliffhanger! Are they trying to kill us? It looks like I'm watching the series all over again (just like the last episode form season 4, the same feeling!).
However, X-Files is back! <3 -
This is a decent start to the continuation of The X-Files, much better than the last outing of the disappointing 'I Want To Believe' bringing the mystery back and a little bit of humour too. I'm not too keen on the artwork but the colouring does lend well to the atmosphere on each page. Hopefully this will progress into a great series.

A tenth season of the x-files? How could I not be excited!? The problem is, I think I built this up too much. I think the art could be better, and the storyline hasn't grabbed me yet, but I'm happy to see my favourite duo again even if it's not on the screen. Of course I will be reading the others :)

Off to a great start.
A story reminiscent of the series and it cut off where one would definitely want to know how it ends. I gave it four stars because I didn't like the art too much. I have the 90s X-Files comic books and the art there was better. I'd still buy the rest of the graphic novel (this was a teaser and free) because of the story. -
The art could have been better, and this volume was very short, but the storyline is everything the fans have been waiting for. The authors demonstrate a deep understanding of the characters and the fandom, even in the few short pages that comprise this volume. Can't wait to read 10x1.2.

The X-files is back, picking up where the last movie left off. My only gripe is that we have to get this in comic form instead of on tv or film. Still its worth checking out. Looking forward to the next issue.

I got this free from NetGalley, thinking it would be fun to read to my kids.
Bad idea. I stopped after a few pages. Hopefully my six and four-year-old won't have nightmares.
I tried to read it on my own later, but just couldn't get into it. Maybe if I'd watched the show... -
Die Zeichnungen sind z.T. leider unterirdisch (was die Ähnlichkeit zu den Darstellern betrifft), die Story hingegen würde in etwas detaillierterer und ausgefeilterer Form tatsächlich eine gute Mythologie-Folge abgeben.

The artwork in this story was absolutely abysmal. I mean, terrible. However, for the story alone, this comic is going to get five stars. It is brilliant. I can't wait to read more. That is another trade paperback which is being added to my Amazon wishlist.

Continues where the television series left off and does an amazing job of keeping the same tone and flow. So glad Mulder and Scully are back! I just wish I didn't have to wait month to month.
