I would very much appreciate it if you could stuff my stocking with these two cuties. (Then I can stuff their stockings. ;)) One is never too old to receive a Christmas present, and a tale about these two wonders would be just magnificent. And what better way to warm up during the winter than with a steaming poolside tale?
Photo Description: Two young men, standing on the bottom step of a private swimming pool with the water mid-thigh deep. They are holding each other and kissing sensuously.
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Stuff My Stocking" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

Thick as Thieves Reviews
-
Thick as Thieves is the story of Charlie’s first love and his first (terrible and awkward) sexual experience, written in a clinical style, without emotions, humor and dialogues.
Not recommended. -
Edit
I think I was a bit too harsh on that story. It still isn't my piece of cake but the writing was good and a friendship ruined by sex isn't that uncommon. So I'll raise my rating about 1 star.

Okaaaaaaay... This was not what I'd expected!
Where was the Christmas?
I want my Christmas! - NOW!
I'm quite sure this story could have happened like this in RL.
But it was defo not what I have hoped for.
It started really nice but then it left me with this big feeling of disappointment.
If you are okay with no HEA go on! Read it!
(And tell me if it was a good story of that kind, please!) -
Story 2 of Stuff My Stocking:
WTF, did I just read?!
This was awful. Two best friends having not-so-good sex when they are 16. And it ends with this:
It wasn’t until years later that he discovered Anthony was simply a poor lover. By the end of the month Anthony was dating a girl named Carol and they didn’t see much of each other anymore.
Over the years, Charlie took many lovers. But he never forgot his first. And Charlie was happy; mostly, he was happy for himself. -
It is somehow difficult to rate this story. I really enjoyed the first part; the MC’s meet in school, they become friends and slowly one falls in love with the other. The sexual experience between the MC’s felt very strange to read, however I got the feeling that these kinds of encounters do happen in reality quite frequently, maybe way more often than those cute, emotional, caring coming together stories that I love to read. The end felt very rushed, I would have loved to get a bit more information. 2 stars for a good first part and a stable writing!

This short story just did not work for me. Liked the build-up to Anthony and Charlie's first sexual experience at age 16, but the ending is unexpected and hurries along far too quickly without fleshing out any details.

How did an MM where neither MC passes away, end the story with them not together? Excuse me while I rewrite that ending! No MMs without an HEA! 😠 The MCs have been in each other’s pockets since elementary school and into high school and have an on page steamy scene and off page scenes before one of them turns away from a gay relationship. They go their separate ways, end up with other people, story ends and I’m ‘WTF?’ Yes, not every love affair ends happily and it was well written, but I wish the ending was different.

This short story is part of the "Stuff My Stocking" collection. I liked the story up until the ending. It left me feeling rushed and sad. There was no resolution, no reconciliation, just an empty ending. It didn't connect to the Christmas theme at all; which was the point of the collection. The writing is well done, told from Charlie's POV so it bumped it to three stars for me. I enjoyed getting into Charlie's head even if I disliked the ending. I'd give the author another go to see if a different book worked for me.

I thought it was a good story, but their was no connection with the characters because it really felt like a story that you hear of years and years after the fact.

I just felt icky for reading this story .No HEA whatsoever.
-
This was so sweet up until Anthony became an ass, why would he do that? I was so hoping that they would reconnect...not that that is very realistic but still. I felt a bit sad when the end came.
-
Short and steamy but hated the ending!
-
I liked Charlie but I didn't like the ending
-
Hm I don't know what to say. It feels weird that the whole story is centered around Anthony and Charlie but the ending isn't really about them together.
