Ohh sweet baby jesus! I'm losing it here!!!! Amelia, how can you let it end like this?! Where was he, what's going on, what will happen?! All these questions in my head, and I'm freaking out!!!! I need to know, like NOW!
Is everything lost? Will Ryder save her? What will the Horde King do? Why didn't he come? What will my Prince of Dark Fae do? Syn and Ryder.. Ryder and Syn.. Ryder… I need more! I miss them already!!!!
Ryder never disappoints, sexy, dominant, dangerous, snarky, sex god, yet still so.. loving! I want him. He's probably everything I want, and everything my parents would hate.. :P Ryder's still a fucking mystery, and I'm loving it while being frustrated at the same time..
He's MINE btw. I just wanted to mention that.. So stay the hell away from him.. Except Syn, my sweet Syn, so awesome, kick ass heroine, bloody brilliant warrior with her fantastic mouth! I love everything that comes out of her mouth, all of her comments are just so freaking perfect! She's so independent and strong. Everyone, everything is trying to bring her down, but she always get up, and becomes a stronger woman.
I think Ryder and Syn might be my favorite couple at the moment.. I love them! The passion, the lust, the feelings (that they refused to act on). Just the two of the together, is so powerful!
I love everything about this book, as I loved the first one, Fighting Destiny. Though, this one made me want to cry and rip my hair off!!! I got so freaking frustrating, and scared of what would happen, that I had no idea where to put myself.. Amelia Hutchins is a brilliant writer, and I'm aching for the next book, which btw, I will probably be dying slowly for while waiting for it……..

Spoilers
OMFG I loved this book! The first book was good, but this book Wow just WOW!
So this book picks up right where Fighting Destiny left off. Syn and Adam are trying to deal with the fact that they are Fae, and all that entails including their upcoming transition. Crazy murderers are still out there killing off Fae. Syn is missing her best friend, and she doesn't know who she can trust!
I just can't believe how good this book was. Amelia Hutchins added so much to the story line and some plot twist I never saw coming, that it kept me on the edge of my seat and my emotions all over the place.
Ryder:
I loved Ryder in this book. I love how he let his walls down and let Syn in. How she made him laugh and pushed him, and I love how she brought out his softer side. I love the fact that Amelia Hutchins kept Ryder true to his character. He wasn't a alpha ass one minute and a perfect sweetheart the next. He was still the sexy, dominant, cocky, dirty talking fucking fairy that he was in the 1st book, but better. The fact that he was slow in changing made it more believable.
"You've left a mark on me that will never be replaced. I'm incapable of loving anyone. You have turned my world upside down, Pet. I want you-the visions don't change that. Let me make love to you, Synthia. Let me show you what you make me feel. I need to be with you now. I need to feel you beneath me. I need to touch your soul and leave my mark on you, so that you never forget me."
"You," he said falling to his knees in front of me. "I'd want you, Synthia, to do with as I wished for the rest of my life. You would be mine, completely. I'd want you at my mercy, to taste, and touch when I wanted you."
"Synthia, I plan to keep you forever,"
Syn:
Syn was better in this book too. In the 1st book I really liked Syn, but I felt she let Ryder and others walk on her too much. In this book she grew her lady balls and wasn't taking shit from anyone! She was just as sassy, loyal, and funny as she was in fighting destiny. She just kicked more ass and I loved it!!!!
"Get away from me. I've lost everything! Everything, Ryder. I'm barely fucking standing on my feet and you just keep taking from me. I signed the fucking contract. You have me through transition! Why the fuck would you mark me as your whore?"
"I am not your anything. You marked me without my permission. So I'm not yours until I decide to give myself to you . You can't just piss on my leg and say I'm yours. It doesn't work that way in the real world."
"I'm Syn, and you're Ryder. You're my fucking Fairy, and you're wrong," I purred throatily. "How's that?" he inquired, sinking further inside of me. "You're my fucking Fairy happy meal,"
Ryder and Syn together Dayum! This book has some of the hottest sex I have ever read and that is saying something. I loved the build of their relationship there was no instant love. It was a nice slow development that made me feel invested in them as a couple.
"I'm going to fuck you hard and fast. I'm going to worship every inch of you with tongue until you tremble and beg me to fuck you even harder. I'm going to make you remember me forever, right now. Then I will fuck you slow and gentle, and show you what it is like to be cherished, by me."
Ryder made Syn's transition so special and sweet that I swooned a little, until the sex. Did I mention the sex was hot as hell!
"Tell me how much you want this cock inside of you. Tell me how bad you need to come. say it, and I promise to make you come, so many times that you won't remember your own fucking name."
"I fucked you in every position, in every way I could, and you begged me for more. You took everything I gave you. You begged me, and it was the hottest fucking thing I have ever seen in my life. You fed perfectly."
I also enjoyed the budding friendship between Ryder's men and Syn and that she got to meet her family. And the ending! OMG THE FREAKING ENDING!!!! Why do you leave me hanging like that.
I really can't think of much that I didn't like in this book. It was a great read and I would totally recommend it!!

“I told you that I would protect you. Even if you don't want me to."
Taunting Destiny is the second book in The Fae Chronicles. Ryder and Syn are back and with their destiny unknown, they both cling to each other in hopes that they can survive the battle that is looming all around them.“You suck,” I mumbled.
Taunting Destiny picks up directly after Fighting Destiny. Synthia and Adam are learning to adjust to the truths they have discovered about themselves and their past. Everything they have ever known has been a lie. Ryder never leaves Syn's side and trying to help her cope with the changes taking place in her life becomes his main focus. The battle between the Faes and the Witches is more deadly than ever and Ryder will stop at nothing to keep Syn protected and by his side. As the plot twists and turns, it becomes evident that some things are simply destined to be.
“No, Baby, you suck, and you do it very fucking well.”
“You broke, and I wanted to pick you up and put the pieces back together.”
Taunting Destiny is another heart-stopping ride with unexpected surprises at every twist and turn. Syn continues to surprise me with her adventurous spirit and strong personality. Ryder cannot keep his hands off of her (thank you Ms. Hutchins) and as their physical connection continues to grow their emotional bond becomes stronger than ever. Certain elements of the plot caused severe anxiety for me as I feared Ryder and Syn would not be able to overcome the many obstacles before them and yet, I have no doubt that things are about to get very interesting for these characters. Once again, the secondary characters enhance the story greatly and as these characters grow closer together their relationships become even more complex. I love this magical world and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
Overall, Taunting Destiny is an absolute must-read for PRN fans! This series must be read in order and just like the first book in the series be prepared for another big cliffy. Ms. Hutchins has created a fantastical world full of magic, passion, romance, and action and I highly recommend this series! Now on to book 3!

Ah, Ryder...You've Ruined Me!!!
5 ~"You take my breath away" Stars
She's addictive; her body makes me weak with need. I fucking hate it, and yet I no longer want to hurt her, to punish her for this ceaseless craving she's created. I want to save her, protect her. It's a weakness I can't afford.
Ryder is a thousand year old, Fae Dark Prince. Power radiates around him like live electricity. He can have anything and anyone he wants. Except he is obsessed with Synthia. A human witch, that is beneath him. Yet all he wants to do is protect her and make her his.
Ryder is adamant that he has no feelings for Synthia...but I think he protests too much. He loves the ever-living-shit-out of her but just hasn't figured it out yet. Actions speak louder than words and he shows it in all of his actions.
I listened to his heart beating and wondered what it would be like if it beat for me.
Syn is starting to fall hard for the sexy as sin Dark Fae. What female could resist his charms as a sexual demi god. He's always there to protect her and this Fairy is a Cuddler!! Gosh, I can't get enough of this man.
Ryder talks a good game. Walking around saying he doesn't care about others, but his heart is just to big. He shows that he cares in everything that he does. The sacrifices he is willing to make to save his homeland, Faery, are substantial.
My past is dark, and filled with things that still haunt me. I'd done things that she would cringe at, because she was raised as a human, and if she ever catches a glimpse of it, she'll willingly walk away from me and not look back. I've done things that I now regret, and if she finds out, she'll hate me for them.
Book 2 was action packed and Amazing. Synthia is more than she appears and her coven goes through some serious changes. There are crazy twists too, and nothing is what it appears to be.
This series is Freakin Wonderful and makes the paranormal lover in me giddy. There are Witches, Demons, Seers, and Sexy Fae fighting for power. There is a group of serial killers that are out to kill all that is good!! I highly recommend this series to all my paranormal, urban fantasy, erotic loving friends!!
My Fae Chronicles reviews:
Fighting Destiny
Taunting Destiny
Escaping Destiny
Seducing Destiny -
This picks up right after the first book with Synthia and Adam are trying to deal with the fact that they ...are now...
The book is dark, raw, passionate, violent, and honestly kinda heartbreaking. Just like the pretty cover!
The worldbuilding is full of magic with the different kind fey, passion from both characters strongly in denial, and action"I shouted as I watched my dog shift into a person.
"Nooo! You turn back into a fucking dog this minute!" I shouted, stomping my feet as Ristan barked with laughter...
"Only you, Syn, only you could find a shifter inside an animal shelter, and bring it home."
Syn
While I liked her in the first book, she was little bit of a pushover and was kinda stuck in her own bubble of limited magic knowledge
She still seems outta the loop about literally fucking everything. But she definitely stepped up her nonsense attitude and pushed back against Ryder's asshole possessiveness
She also kinda kicked me in the feels a little bit“I wasn’t asking for your love. I was showing what it would be like if you had mine”
......goddamnnn 👀👏🏻👏🏻
And then there's our Ryder
I was worried that after the first book, he might've mellowed out or lost some of his badassness. In fact, the total fucking opposite happened.
He still the sexy, dominant, cocky, dirty fae but now everything is cranked up to 60 where it seems like Syn has no fucking control when really its him losing it"She's addictive; her body makes me weak with need. I fucking hate it, and yet I no longer want to hurt her, to punish her for this ceaseless craving she's created. I want to save her, protect her. It's a weakness I can't afford."
He is a manipulative thousand year old fey bastard. He is focused on his power and his schemes. But for some reason this stupid human witch can't get out of his brain“You really are the most infuriating woman on this entire fucking planet!”
“And you’re the most annoying fucking Fairy on this planet,” I shot back with a twisted smile on my lips.
“I think I should chain you and give you another example of just how well I can fuck,” he purred."
this was definitely a --the man doth protest too much-- with Ryder saying he feels nothing but all of his actions screaming otherwise. Really he wants Syn to see all his darkness and embrace it... but can she?"My past is dark, and filled with things that still haunt me. I'd done things that she would cringe at, because she was raised as a human, and if she ever catches a glimpse of it, she'll willingly walk away from me and not look back. I've done things that I now regret, and if she finds out, she'll hate me for them."
My main critique
What exactly did Syn even do in this book?? It felt like she was constantly -there- but she wasn't really active or part of anything going on“Adrian was a vampire. Adam was the Dark Heir of the Fae. Larissa was dead. Alden was facing danger to help us. I was homeless, jobless, and attracted to the one thing that would surely kill me in the end. The reality set in that I had even lost my dog, and now my life was just one tragedy away from becoming a sad country song.”
Like sure, she was eavesdropping and sorta trying to piece together the bigger picture. But in the first book, at least i understood the general direction of the plot, while this one was very much just go with it vibes to enjoy the characters and see where it goes
Also that cliffhanger? yah fuck you too
Like okay for the first book, it made sense to keep me captivated and invested in the characters. But now its the second book. I’m here. I’m invested. Can ya be a little nicer about it ?!?
There are adventure books with sexy but this is an erotica with adventure. The emphasis is completely on these two crazy-fate-fighting characters that have no idea what they are doing to do, but know that they want each other. And it is hot as fuck. Overall, if sexy possessive alpha demon fairies are your thing. highly recommend. -
"You can’t fight destiny—taunt it, yes, but to fight it will only consume you and, in the end, destiny always wins.”
Fast paced, witty, exciting, action packed, HOT HOT HOT, bombshell after bombshell revealed just an all around good read.
Show of hands ladies... Who else wants Ryder?
"Who owns you?" He demanded.
"Oh fuck it! It's a dream, right? "You couldn't handle owning me, Ryder..."
Ryder and Syn have the makings of an epic book couple.
"It's sexy Syn," he whispered, refusing to move away from me as I tried to put distance between us.
"What's sexy?" I asked, even though I was afraid to know the answer.
"That everytime you sift, you land at my feet." He smirked and turned, walking away as he left me with my mouth hanging open."
I love all the characters and am fully invested in this series, I just can't wait for book 3!
"No Pet, I'll be your Prince Fucking Charming," He smiled wickedly and disappeared." -
5 Destined, Amazing, Damn HOT and Freaking Cliffies Stars
You can't fight destiny - taunt it,yes, but to fight it will only consume you and, in the end, destiny always wins.
I am awed, spell-bound, amazed and in love...
I am turned on, frustrated and I am currently looking for new panties and sheets...
I am dying, I want to hurt someone bad, I am going maaaaaaaaaaaaad...
As you understand,
and it's all because this f*cking fantastic series!
Dark, gritty, raw, passionate, violent, heartbreaking, until the game changing finale.
And the freaking cliffhanger!!!!
Syn and Ryder pick up exactly where they left us and the pace doesn't let us take a deep breath. Revelations, mysteries, sexy times, throw-the-kindle-against-the-wall stupid decisions and sacrifices (yes, Adam, I am talking about you!), action and did I mentioned sex?
Against the wall, on the bed and out of it, kinky, hot SEX!!!
And at 4 in the freaking morning I finished the book and fighting to remain alive I started the next............
Looking for your next addiction? Searching for the new must-read?
LOOK NO MORE! Read the Fae Chronicles! -
I ENJOYED this book...could not put it down until I was finished (even then I did not want put in down)!!!
Book 3 CANNOT come soon enough ;))) -
I have a love/hate relationship with this series. Well, maybe a like/hate relationship.
What I like:
The story is interesting and I want to know what happens
The characters, especially Synthia and Ristan (I'd like them to get together)
There are a lot of twists and action - it doesn't get slow or boring
Every time that Synthia tries to sift, she ends up at Ryder's feet
Synthia gets a dog that she names Mr. Fancy Pants (I had a Pomeranian named Mr. Fluffy Buns)
Said dog turns out to be a shapeshifter
I shouted as I watched my dog shift into a person. "Nooo! You turn back into a f-ing dog this minute!" I shouted, stomping my feet as Ristan barked with laughter...
"Only you, Syn, only you could find a shifter inside an animal shelter, and bring it home."
What I don't like:
The sex scenes are terrible and too long
There are typos and continuity problems. Poor editing.
Still too much rapeyishness
Will I finish this series? Yes, yes I will.
-
This was bloody amazing and I was transfixed from the minute I picked this one up.
Taunting Destiny was packed full of action intrigue and pure emotion and every word hooked its talons into me digging deep.
I connected with this story and it’s characters on every single level possible leaving me totally invested in the unfolding drama.
So here Syn is trying to come to terms with a whole new reality which is also pulling her in multiple directions.
Her life is totally out of her own control and all she can do is let the tide take her.
Even looking in Ryder’s direction for solutions won’t work as he’s just as much a prisoner of the fates as she is.
Syn’s importance to him surprising even himself, Ryder badly wants to fully claim her but Syn is that anomaly he just hadn’t counted on.
Unfortunately, there’s a whole world’s survival at stake keeping them apart and standing between them.
Finally, this is all wrapped up in a killer finale that leaves you panting for more.
This is such a fabulous series with such phenomenal world-building and no matter how many times I read this it never gets old.

Yep!! Even better the second time!! Ryder and Syn are definitely one of my all time favorite couples.. and the world that Amelia created with Faeries and other mythical peeps set in modern times but with an alternate Fae land is just crazy good. Sucks you in with the layers, surprises, and scorching chemistry.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVVVEEE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!!
This second installment to The Fae Chronicles series was even better that the first book and that is saying a lot considering how totally kick ass the first book was. Amelia Hutchins as created the absolute perfect paranormal romance .. but it's so much more! The story is so thick and detailed that you can't helped but get sucked into the world she has created.... We got a lot of answers in this book that we were looking for in book 1 but there is still a lot going on..
rolling on to book 3 now! -
Well, Syn's found out some things about herself but mostly she's still in the dark...and she's trying to figure out what she can and cannot do. Of course, someone is still trying to kill her and oh yea, a girl's gotta feed! ;)
I'm still enjoying Syn and Ryder but at the same time, they are a bit infuriating. Ryder's always telling Syn that he's not a human and to quit thinking that way but...he has feelings for her that he just won't admit to, at least out loud and it's insufferable. His saving grace is getting a few paragraphs here and there with his POV!
And you definitely won't be disappointed with the steam factor! Ryder makes every effort to make sure that Syn is full and happy...(remember how I said that the Fae feed off emotions and that emotions and sex is the best?)
There's this HUGE twist...and there was just no way I was buying it, No Way but things kept moving forward. Ugh! And if that wasn't bad enough...there's a second twist towards the end that believe it or not is even worse! How much can we take??
It was a bit frustrating how things seemed to get dragged out. I was needing answers like yesterday! But be patient because finally we get some answers towards the end.
Unfortunately, that second drama leaves us hanging. Ryder, Ryder, Ryder!! Thank goodness the third book is out but since there is no release date for the fourth book, I'm not sure if I should read it or wait especially since the endings are getting worse and worse!

♥ "I'm not a fucking Fairy happy meal, Ryder!”
♥ " Mental Note: Ristan was a freak!"
♥ “You’ve left a mark on me that will never be replaced. I’m incapable of loving anyone. You have turned my world upside down, Pet."
♥ “What’s your name?” he asked with a tremor running through his voice, fear shining in his eyes for me.
“Satisfied, by a fucking Fairy.” -
Liked it, didn't love it like the first. There was absolutely zero build up and sexual tension. Kind of hard to have sexual tension when every single scene leads to another sex scene. The dirty talk was cheesy...I never understand why an author writes sex dialogue in words that would never, ever actually be said by a guy. It's no less goofy to read on paper as it would be to hear it out loud. Example:
"Your pussy's drenched with sleek wetness that I created. Soaking fucking wet, for me." He moved his hands, holding my feet as he pushed them further apart and went deeper inside me.
"Oh, God! Yes, more, give me more!" I cried...
Come on...is this a porno? Or a soap opera? Maybe just somewhere in between. Slick wetness, really?
My BIGGEST ISSUE with this series is the lack of editing. What makes it so aggravating is that this could be an absolutely phenomenal series, a stand out above my other favorite Urban Fantasy/PNR series. I'm putting it out there and saying that it could absolutely top my favorites, for real, yo. :/ Instead, I read and read and grow more and more frustrated. An editor could catch the grammatical issues, yes. (honestly, the grammar here wasn't NEARLY as atrocious as book one) but even more than that, a content editor would catch weird phrases, continuity issues, cut out some odd irregularities slash unrealistic actions of the characters. I don't know how many times I read a paragraph only to reread it two more times because it didn't feel like it fit with the current situation. Or something would happen that I felt was a huge turning point or revelation, but the characters would just move on as if something big didn't just happen.
If only a publisher would snatch this series and put it through a team of professionals, like all my other favorites have, I think I could live and breathe in Amelia Hutchins world here. As it is, I will still move on because I'm really enjoying the world and I'm really enjoying the characters and convoluted plot. It's full of action and forbidden romance, the "hero" is more of an anti-hero (my favorite), and the heroine is mysteriously kick ass yet also girl enough to cry sometimes. I also love the band of men that surround the mysterious Ryder...they crack me up, and I adore them for their loyalty to him and their growing admiration of Synthia. I'm loving what I do get from this series, I just wish it could live up to it's full potential. -

Oh, God. This wrecked my soul. It was merciless and punishing.
book 1
Fighting Destiny 5/5 ★
Word of CAUTION if you want to begin this series: 18+ warning // whole lot of smut // obscene language and sexual content. Don't @ me -- you've been warned!!
Holy goodness this series has consumed my life. Everything just went to shit and I am not doing okay. Things are no okay.
So what is book two about (and my thoughts) (non-spoilers)
Taunting Destiny picks up immediately following what Syn discovered at the end of
Fighting Destiny. Syn has lost everything, and she is barely standing on her own two feet. She is still trying to fight what she is becoming. Her magic is changing into something that can consume her. She is in denial and trying to seize any sort of control and still thinks she can walk away from this world. The courage of Syn's character. The bravery. Never surrendering no matter what life throws. Her inner strength is admirable.
Ryder is still being dark, dangerous, and pleasuring. His every move has a purpose. Every word is spoken with a ferocious intensity. Readers everywhere (& Syn) are dropping their panties and devouring every word from his filthy mouth. He is a sex god. We begin to see some feeeels from him and it's SO DELICIOUS. Ryder has ruined it for all other fae characters...actually... all other book characters. Closest character that comes close is
Cardan as my number 2 on my fae-bae scale of sexiness. Most male characters that I've read in the past feel like little boys compared to Ryder. He is so alpha male and I am so addicted.
"Tell me how bad you need to come. Say it, and I promise to make you come, so many times that you won’t remember your own fucking name.”
The plot revolves around Syn becoming Syn 2.0 (Pssst... oh my god--you may never read anything hotter than those chapters) and trying to catch a radical group killing the Fae. I couldn't put this book down. I forgot to sleep, eat, and everything else until I finished it. Amelia has a gift-- She was able to drag me out of reality, paint a picture for me, and suck me into the story like I was truly there.
This series is hella passionate. I lost count with how many times I did a full stop in the midst of reading and muttered "fucking damn." Can we talk about those last 150 pages? My heart was cracking during every single page of it. It was heart wrenching. I don't know how Amelia did it but I felt every single emotion they were feeling as their whole world was about to be rocked. Do yourself a favor and pick up this series. It will become your newest obsession. -
Oh my!!!!!!! I have a theory!!!!!!!! Moving on to the third book to see if I'm correct!!! God, this series is like a drug!
COMPLETELY ADDICTING! -
4.5 "Prince Fucking Charming" Stars
"I had always thought that I controlled my destiny. Now, my rights are being taken from me by powerful people and leaving me with alternatives that range between bad and awful."
So we start of book two after finding out a revelation about Synthia as well as Adam.
"I was homeless, jobless, and attracted to the one thing that would surely kill me in the end."
Synthia is still being stubborn and thinks once the contract is over she will be good and won't want Ryder anymore. She's still mad at herself for wanting him. One minute she is thinking:
But her heart has other ideas...plus Ryder is just so swoon-worthy...
"You are strong and stubborn, but that soul of yours is undeniably beautiful. I know, because I’ve felt it from the inside when you stole part of mine. My soul was addicted to yours from the moment you stole it. I felt the pure untainted beauty of it. It only made me want to taste you more."
and regarding the sex scenes....
"Beg me for it, Pet. Beg me to fuck your pretty, pink, tight pussy. Beg for me to make you scream with pleasure."
Ryder, pick me! Pick Me!! I'll have sex with you if Synthia no longer wants you!!! Fuck me with your magic peen!!
All the while we are still trying to determine who are killing and destroying the Fae and are they the same people who are after Synthia? How will Synthia help save the Fae?
Ryder wants to keep Synthia for himself all to himself though.
"So you say it, but even destiny can change if the will of two people are strong enough. I say fuck destiny, and let us decide what our future is."
Finally that ending!!!! OMG!!! I have so many unanswered questions! Where are you Ryder!!!!!!
Sidenote:
I can't give it a full 5 b/c there was quite a bit of repetitiveness in this book but I tried to overlook it as well as how much Synthia continues to moan because I enjoy the story line so much.
Also Ristan is fucking awesome. Love him!
THAT IS ALL. :) -
another 6 freakin stars from me!!!
Ryder - where the fuck were you?!
review will come!
alright, alright, alright...let me tell you smth - this was one hell of a read!
I am stunned,
I am in awe
and I am quite possibly mute and ruined for a similar read...
unable to make a single coherent sentence...
and that is all because of HIM - the fucking faeiry!!! the Horde King, The Beast LOL that looks like this!!!!
and Syn - dear Lord, she cracks me up, her witty responses, sassy and bold adittude, a warrior, a fighter - now there is a heroine to be amired...
anyway, you have to read it if you wanna get the full picture, It was overwhelming and phenomanaly written plot full of...well, fuck...
every-bloody-thing that makes your own blood boil from excitment, thrill, anger, anticipation...
and yeah, yeah I know, I used Khal Drogo and Daenarys pics from Game of Thrones to represent these characters BUT i just couldn't help it - they so fit in here!
if anyone has any objections, well
LOL -
4.25/5
This second book was a little bit better than the first one. The story was intense, so much that I found myself intrigued by the series. The plot was very good and enjoyable but I had issues with the sex scenes. I felt like there were too many unnecessary details and I got tired of the repetition, so I just skimmed through some of them. I think I'm the type of person who prefers a good romantic buildup more than just a lot of steamy sex scenes. Sex in the story should have some sort of meaning, but in this case, I didn't feel the love connection between the hero and heroine.
Moreover, I wish there had been a little more character development. Both hero and heroine simply failed to impress me.
By the way, I'll need to read book 3 ASAP because of that cliffhanger!!! -
Slightly higher than 4 stars (better than the first book)
I was nervous going into Taunting Destiny because I invested a lot of time and energy into the first book. I didn’t want the same writing flow and I will have to say, the writing flow / character’s change some what so I can say now I’m completely invested into this series.
Syn is really stubborn in the first book and fights Ryder on almost everything, it was really hard to like her, but I’m starting to warm up to her. I feel like she is a bit more reasonable in this one and is less silly.
What I enjoyed most about Taunting Destiny is the perspective. I get to understand things a little better and from Ryder’s side. Ryder’s POV isn’t much in the book, but I do enjoy his POV from time to time, unlike the first book, I felt like his POV in this one had a purpose and I got to know him a little better.
I liked Ryder because he wants Syn, but I also keep him at arms length because he doesn’t love Syn so it’s a part thing to process. But this book goes into a little more detail to why Ryder is the way he is and why he acts the way he acts and what he did in the past.
I’m really starting to like this series, but the angst can be too much at times and it has been a little too emotional. We find out a lot more in this book and it kind of leads up to who Syn really is.
There are some stuff from the first book which I don’t like is that the book again takes awhile to go into things. Not as much as the first book, but good grief there is a lot of words to set up the scene and then you finally get to the scene.
What I did enjoy is that the book has more steam! Yay, I love that it changed because I think as characters change, so should the dynamics.
So I’m happy to say the book gets better and better with each book and the cliffy that we get is pretty dramatic. It makes me really grateful I have the next one to binge into. -

I don't even know where to start with this book. I just LOVED it!
There was so much going on, but not in that it was all over the place. Just great story lines and action and sex and cray cray-ness. I loved it.
Amelia Hutchins did a great job of creating this magical wonderful amazing world in The Fae Chronicles. There are a million different intertwined story lines, but she managed to keep everything clean and not confusing. There wasn't ever a time where I didn't understand where she was going with something or who someone was or how something happened...I never got lost, and I loved that. I hate being lost in a book, and have to reread to figure out whats going on.
Simply, ahhhh-mazing.
And, wanna talk about holy-hotness!
This book was just LOADED with all that is hot...ay papi!
Totes made me...
Only negative I had with the book...and, yes, only one...amazing, I know..was all the growling that went on.
Could have done with about 100 less of those.
BUT other than that...
Here is my Ryder...RWAR! -
AHHHHHHHH!!!! Next one NOW!

More...I need MORE!
It kind of cracks me up that I could literally type the exact same review again after listening to Taunting Destiny. I just left a message on Facebook asking Amelia Hutchins, when
Escaping Destiny will be released on Audible.
That ending is a SHOCKER! As it has been a few years since I read this series, I can't exactly remember what happens next. I'm not going to succumb to my curiosity though and read it, I'm going to patiently wait for the audiobook release. Fingers crossed it won't be too long.
The narrators do a great job of bringing the characters to life and I found them both easy to listen to. I would not be disappointed to have them continue on with narrating this series.
My rating stays the same because if anything, I think I prefer to listen to this series over reading it.
**************************************
I've finished it and loved the ride. I am just so impatient to see where this will go next. Ms Hutchins, I completely agree with your warning...I will be stalking you to get the next Fae Chronicle (haha). -
I really, really wanted to write proper review, but I can't *cries*. My heart and head ache too much to do so now. I don't know how I will be able to wait for next book.

5 Mind-blowing,Omg-how-do-I-live-after-this, I-am-an-emotional-mess Stars!!
What a bloody ending! Why oh whyyyy do you do this to us Amelia?
My emotions were bloody everywhere I cant believe it! No no no no this is not happening and then I was screaming for Ryder in my head..Where the fuck are you fairy!! Damn Damn I really need the next book like yesterday.
This book is just brilliant I thought the first book Fighting Destiny was awesome and thought no way can you beat that. I didn't know what to expect but wow this book did not disappoint.
If you are looking for a fast-paced, fantasy, brilliant, captivating book with twists and turns and much more you better go grab book one and jump on the Ryder train ;)
Okay if you didn't already know I LOVE RYDER he is mine you lot can have Adam ;) hehe
Oh Ryder ,Ryder I already miss you *sobs* I thought I loved him in book one , well in this book we have gone beyond love its just so much more!
Syn and Ryder are just so perfect for each other, they made me laugh, sob, scream out in frustration and swoon!
"Scared Syn?" he whispered back as his eyes changed from gold to burnt amber. He was hungry, and was making me wet with need.
"To be with you? Yes."I admitted it, which only made him smile. "You scare the shit out of me Ryder, is this what you wanted to hear?"
The story continues from where it left off and you are left questioning whether Ryder is evil or good. Both Syn and Adam are going through transition and it all gets worse more people are dying, the past ghosts are coming back to haunt them..what will happen when everything comes crashing down? Will Ryder be able to save Syn or will he let her go?
Syn is fearless, selfless, kickass, strong warrior and she is just as stubborn as Ryder. Oh man they are perfect when will they have a happily ever after? WHEN?!!? They both need some love, they are both lonely and need each other but yeah back to them both being stubborn idiots well they cant admit to each other how they feel.I loved that we got a mixture of POVs even though some were small we even got a glimpse into Adams head..okay a part of me really wanted to hate him because of the events happening (those who have read it will know what I mean) and I know its not his fault just a crappy situation but ahhhh I wanted to toss my book and scream and pull my hair out how could it have all gotten so bent out of shape? and then the ending I was like..lets rewind back to the other situation I liked that better haha!
I loved that there was some parts in Ryders POV because he is so bloody interesting and a mystery! What is he? TELL ME!!! Urgh I need to know his secrets it's driving me insane! I wanted the book to be half Syn's POV and half Ryder's but I think it would kill all the mystery that Ryder's character entails, I thought all would be revealed in this book but it wasn't the case sooo book 3..please be out soon!!
Oh and did anyone else love Ristan as much as I did? omg he made me laugh the pervy hilarious Demon! Haha
"Can I ask you something..err..well, can I ask you something that's a little uncomfortable Ristan?"..
"Uncomfortable how, flower?"
His eyes lit up with mischief.
"Are we speaking toys and nipple clamps kind of uncomfortable, because I am an expert with that shit, or are we speaking your vagigi uncomfortable? I'm game to look at it, play with it.Hell, Flower I'm pretty much open to it all.Lay it out on me." He smirked and his eyes laughed at me.
"No, this has nothing to do with that..
MENTAL NOTE: Ristan was a freak!
Hahah yes yes he is a freak! An adorable freak.
Overall I bloody loved this book I just could not put it down, every time I did the little voice in my head said "Just keep reading, just keep reading" I am weak!!
Amelia please hurry with book 3..I need my Ryder fix!!
When I started this book I was like..
Ryder I am ready for you!!
When I finished it..

I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who knew The Office gifs could sum up my entire feelings on this book. -
This series is a 5 star series. It's seriously the best fae-centered urban fantasy I've read in a long time, maybe just the best period. So why did I only give it and the previous book only 4 stars?
The editing.
It's not Pamela Ann grammar/syntax terrible, but it was enough to consistently interrupt my focus. The sentences didn't match up sometimes. It wasn't incomprehensible, just distracting. Things like changing the original word from (maybe?) "tears" to "crying" and then in the next sentence referring back to "crying" as "they." Like I said--not incomprehensible, just distracting. Incomplete sentences. Misuse of semicolons. Sigh.
Which is really a shame b/c content-wise The Fae Chronicles is amazing. -
“You can’t fight destiny—taunt it, yes, but to fight it will only consume you and, in the end, destiny always wins.”
This book overflows with twists and surprises:
Synthia thinks that Ryder tortures innocent Guild Warlocks, which
Synthia finishes transitioning with the help of Ryder. Synthia not only becomes a fae, but she also . But Ryder also
Adam also finishes transitioning with the help of every available fae female. He does not only become a fae, but he also discovers
So everyone believes that Synthia is royal and maybe someone important because of the fact that she was hidden away by her parents pretending to be human. And they suspect that she comes from the Light Fae family. These are the cheating type. The Light Fae Queen has enjoyed any available Blood fae. Maybe she is the mother. If this is the case, Synthia has to agree to marry a male that she does not lust, but she truly loves.
But alas, soon the truth will be revealed when Synthia is taken away by her true family. Are they nice people? All of them? Do they love her? Why they give her up? Who killed her human parents? Sometimes even the nicest families
There will be a ceremony in the end, but who will take Synthia? Surprise! The Horde King has arrived to collect what was promised to him.
So, where is Rayder? What he thinks of all these revelations? Rayder is gobsmack because he has just discovered that he will be
Much better than the first book of this series, but I still feel that the story is lacking something to make me call it “a great story”. Still the way the writer approaches the Fae mythology in paranormal romance, is interesting. -

“You can’t fight destiny – taunt it, yes, but to fight it will only consume you and, in the end, destiny always wins.”
With Adam and Synthia having been revealed as Fae, they now fight with an identity crisis in this sequel and adapting to the world and themselves in a new skin. Terrified of Transition growing ever closer for Synthia, and with her coven now not a coven, Synthia is the most lost she has ever been in her life and Ryder only serves to lead her and her emotions astray because she is falling for an incredibly deadly creature - her enemy, and without knowing very much about him and his convoluted past.
“That is what people spend eternity looking for. That’s why men go to war when they lose it.”
From being human to now being part of a species who not only cleaved her life but her soul apart, Syn is in the midst of huge changes and transformation with no real place in the world including the very Guild she grew up in. Already having lost so much, Syn only continues to lose more and more, Ryder still being responsible for those losses and still intent on claiming Synthia with everything he has, while still maintaining his own lethal secrets and having no plans of letting Synthia get too close to him or his sordid past. Only, for a man who has never known love and self-proclaims of not being capable of such a thing he can’t give her the one thing she deserves more than anything. But Ryder isn’t the only one concealing the truth, for the people closest to her are too, and Syn is being kept in the dark for her own safety but also to expend her from what hearing the truth will mean.
“Sometimes we have to rely on the most improbable course when looking for answers to our problems. Some call this faith.”
Destiny definitely puts Synthia through the obstacle course of life in this book and is anything but lenient where she is concerned. Her life is transitioning at the speed of a freight train. It’s a mess, her heart is a mess, her mind is a mess. Luck and fortune are really not on her side. Struggling with the foreignness of her own life and past Syn searches for answers but does not like the ones that show themselves to her. Synthia tries and fails to let go of what was and accept what is whilst coming face to face with some of the horrors of her past.
“I can get knocked down, but what I can’t do is stay down. Don’t ask me to, because the answer will always be no, every fucking time.”
Ryder has a crucial and substantial quest here in the human world because his homeland is dying and as closer and attached as he finds himself becoming to the woman he never saw coming, he will stop at nothing and no-one to reach his destiny, even if the price is Synthia herself. Though they may not realise it, Ryder and Synthia’s destinies may be more aligned than they comprehend and Synthia may have a bigger role to play in this fight for Faery and its demise. Though Synthia’s trust for Ryder is precarious at best and as unpredictable as Ryder can be, Syn knows he is her biggest form of protection from the threats coming for her.
“I told you that I would protect you. Even if you don’t need me to. Some things are worth protecting.”
‘Romance’ is too sweet a term for what flows between Ryder and Synthia. What they have is unforgiving and gritty and gruelling. What they have is tinged in with darkness, drowned in mayhem and deadly in its own right. There are so many reasons pulling them together, but so many more pulling them apart.
“Someday someone is going to look at you with a sparkle in their eyes as if you are the most beautiful woman alive. They’ll look at you like you are everything they’ve ever wanted, everything they’ve ever dreamt about. Wait for it, my daughter, for he will be the light that brings you to life, and lights your way through the darkness.”
In a generalised sense I’m quite an objective person when approaching matters but trying to understand the enigmatic anti-heroic mess that is Ryder tends to make me lose all sense of composure. I think it’s obvious that Ryder’s story is one of redemption and overcoming and that is what I am waiting for when it comes to this irksome and vexatious man. Taking a note from this book, I will also trust destiny’s plan in seeing where this tale takes Ryder.
“Destiny has a plan for us. It’s not our job to know what it is; we just have to follow It and trust that destiny will put us where we need to be.”
I appreciated this book as much as the first, it was fast paced and though some elements of the story were predictable, the majority of it was not and I was left stunned with what did take place, the twists and the aftermath. It was rich with speculations, deceit, confliction, the spectrum of emotions spreading a wide net and the characters being enticing to read – one of my absolute favourites being my fellow Demon, Ristan. We learn a lot more of the Fae history, politics and the twining of Celtic mythology in this narrative. Synthia is just as quirky, charming and frank as I remember, her banter with all is one of my favourite aspects of reading in this series. The lewd humour and sarcasm adds its own dimension and so much happens in a very short space of time without being troublesome to follow. I like the pop culture references this series highlights and how soundtrack heavy it is. New castes of the Fae are exposed amongst Faery kingdom rivalries, and with the ever - thickening breadth of the plot, it was another gripping read from start to finish. Although I have my issues with certain characters, the outline of the story, the way it was strategized and the impact it had on me can only allow me to give it nothing less than a 5 star. Addictive. Wonderful.
“I need to touch your soul and leave my mark on you, so that you never forget me.”
Destiny isn’t just fighting Synthia, it’s taunting her – with that she can have, what she can no longer, what has been robbed from her and that which will never be the same. Escaping Destiny may be the only option Synthia has…
“Even destiny can change if the will of two people is strong enough. I say fuck destiny, and let us decide what our future is. It changes every time we make a choice, and I damn sure don’t think anyone can say what will happen just by seeing it. Nothing is set in stone until it’s happened.”
