Smell the fumes in the pesticide aisle. Read the labels. Spend a fortune on poison and ask what is it doing to us? These authors give a run down of insects and offer numerous ideas, recipes and home made traps we can use to keep pests away. Bay leaves, garlic & cucumber to repel cockroaches, or use beer to lure them into a trap. Rodents, garden pests, termites -all are well described along with their favorite places to lurk, and alternatives to chemical warfare are offered.
From back cover "many more traps, barriers, controls, repellents and handy hints, including valuable information about the insects and animals that are our allies to the war against pests"
This has been adapted for Australia, so I assume there is an original overseas.

I've found this very useful over the years. Have tried a few concoctions and wow, they worked! The main think is remembering to refer to book when a new pest turns up! This book easy to read and well set up, alphabetic headings and an index.
For us bibliophiles, booklice not a pest, but are a sign of poor ventilation -they feed on moulds - so ventilate!

Wow. I've loved this book for a couple of decades. Used it to make premises flea-free after the pets departed, confuse the ants until they lost their way, dream of pranks I never pulled. Seeing ourselves as part of an ecosystem: territorial mammals.
