    BR with Jo and Sammy!

Ryder's cousin Tenielle (who is the sister of Layla from the first book in this series Chase) shows up at Ryder's door one day with her best friend Lexi. They are just getting back into town after travelling and need a place to stay until they can find an apartment of their own. Of course since Ryder is someone who is always looking out for his family and willing to help them any way he can, he lets them stay in his guest room.

Ryder is in the band 'Morning Alliance' and is well known with the women of course and is a bit of a man-whore. But from the moment he meets Lexi, she is all he wants. Lexi feels the same about Ryder. There is definitely chemistry between them from the very beginning!

Ryder and Lexi eventually start dating and everything between them seems to be going well. Then when Lexi is finally able to make it to one of Ryder's gigs, something totally unexpected happens. Someone from Lexi's past is there and he happens to be in Ryder's band. The person from her past is still in love with her even though it's been years since they were together. Because of the way things had ended between them and the circumstances behind their break-up, this is the absolute last person Lexi wants to run into.

What will happen when Ryder finds out the his band member was involved with Lexi in the past and it is the woman he never got over? What will happen when Ryder learns of the circumstances behind their break-up? Will this cause problems with the band? Will Ryder and Lexi's relationship survive this or will they end up breaking-up? Will Ryder and Lexi get their HEA? You will have to read this novella to find out the answers to those questions and so much more.

I will say that Ryder drove me absolutely crazy with how he was almost too overprotective of Layla in the first book in the series Chase, and I didn't really like him too much when he appeared in the second book in the series Kade because of the situations he was involved in with that book (which briefly got brought up in this book as well). So I wasn't sure how much I'd like this book since Ryder drove me crazy so often in the previous books because in my mind, he's always taken being protective of his family to an extreme and has gotten involved in situations in the past that I felt he had no business even being involved in.

Well, my opinion of Ryder changed a great deal after reading this book. He no longer drives me crazy and I've grown to appreciate the fact that he looks out for his family when I've gotten to see things from his point of view. I still don't completely approve of everything he's done in the past, but I can appreciate Ryder a bit more and know now that his motives behind things aren't to be a jerk (like he seemed to be in prior books I felt), it's just because of his love for his family. This isn't my favorite book in the series by far, but I did still enjoy it. I would definitely recommend this book and this whole series!

Oh my lord!!! I have only just recovered from my ARC of Kade, four days ago! This women is a machine!!

Firstly let me say, I went into this with very, very HIGH hopes, but realistically wasn't expecting to love it as much as Chase and Kade, as I never really felt a connection to Ryder, he annoyed me ( check out my other reviews)

But hell, wouldn't you know it, Chantal got me again!!

We see the deeper side of Ryder throughout this novel. He is far from the man whoring, band leader that I though he was.
Yes I knew he cared deeply for his cousins, but it annoyed me in the first two books, especially with Chase!! It felt over the top, however reading of his concerns through his eyes is a totally different experience ( obliviously!!)

'The truth is, I’m worried about Sasha. Layla is taken care of and Tee can take care of herself, but there is something about Sasha. Something fragile. Something about her that needs nurturing. Like the other girls in my family, her beauty is obvious, but Sasha’s heart is still wounded. There is something she’s not letting go. Something or someone. '

Although these two have an insta attraction, they don't act on it straight away, and I LOVE that!

Their first night alone was beautiful.

'His voice is perfection; deep and soulful, husky. It gives me goose bumps. We finish the song, and Ryder looks over me with his brows drawn.
“You are fucking amazing on that thing!” He exclaims.
“Thanks,” I say blushing, “And you are one of the most amazing singers I have ever heard.”'

    *swoon*

What I first date * sigh* Ryder has won me over already!

“That’s going to be a hard first date to beat,” I mumble. Ryder pulls back, his eyes searching mine.
“If all goes well, hopefully, that will be your last first date,” he says simply. I gulp. Ryder’s lip twitches.

I love how effortlessly this book flows. I know I've said that before in both Chase and Kade, but I feel the need to say again how smooth the transition between POVs are. I find a lot of authors struggle to keep the flow going and it often turns out choppy, which in turn make it hard to read, and I find myself often loosening my place in the book, as I don't know where we're up too. It is one of the MAJOR things I love about the writing style and ability of Chantal and Dawn.

As the relationship progresses, we see how much deeper these characters are. Lexi isn't just a pretty face, she has a past that comes back with a vengeance, Ryder isn't just in a band and a guy that hits anything with a vagina, he's a fighter and a deep nurturing soul.
These two are as beautiful as they are damaged.

I was expecting the girls to continue living with Ryder and was extremely glad that didn't happen! I feel that would have been over the top, not to mention way, way too soon.

When Lexis Ex is reviled, man, I felt like I'd been kicked in the gut! Of all people?!?

The way these two ladies are able to write all these novels from different POVs and all through the same time frame is simply amazing!
Little pieces from previous books are explained, for example the blond leaving when Ryder agrees to give Nikki a chance.

Once again the singing gets me! I'll admit it isn't karaoke, but still!! 'The special two' stunning!

"And we will only need each other, we'll bleed together,
Our hands will not be taught to hold another's,
    'Cause we're the special two."
I was singing right along with her, tears in my eyes!

"I'm next." I hear Ryder call out.

    Cue more tears!

Such a beautiful moment when she turns to find him there. <3

"This song is for Lexi. "

He starts playing ‘Suffocate’ by J. Holiday
Instantly I had tears falling faster!! ( you'll understand when you read the whole story)

Ryder~ "Her voice leaves me breathless, and I can’t help but feel proud that she is onstage because I know just how much she hates it."

I feel terrible for Derek, but as he is getting his own book, I'm guessing we will see his whole story soon.

I was EXTREMELY happy everyone works out their differences.

The epilogue was neat and tidy, however I wished it was longer!! Everything was wrapped up nicely, no loose ends and it is beautiful. I think I was just sad it was over :(

Looking forward to reading James!!! I Was sad he didn't make an appearance at all durning this one. I understand why we didn't see much of Kade, but James? *sad face* ( yes I'm a greedy little girl!!)

Thank you Chantal you have outdone yourself once again!!

    ****Revised review****
I am in LOVE with the new epilogue!! Made me teary! I am happy a James scene has been added, seriously I CAN.NOT.WAIT.FOR.JAMES!!

When his cousin Tenielle (Tee) unexpectedly shows up at Ryder’s apartment with her gorgeous friend Lexi, Ryder finds himself with two temporary roommates. There is an instant attraction between Ryder and Lexi and their shared interest in music sets the stage for a great relationship between the two of them. But someone from Lexi’s past threatens to ruin not only her relationship with Ryder, but his music career as well.

Ryder is by far my favorite story in the Resisting Love series so far. You might be wondering how a novella could possibly be my favorite in a book series… my honest answer for you would be that I fell for the hero Ryder... and I fell hard.

    What I Loved About Ryder:
    ♪ Talented musician? ✔
♪ Uses a unique nickname (Queen of Hearts) for the heroine? ✔
♪ Hot, tatted, and pierced (including down south)? ✔
♪ Loyal, protective, loving, romantic at heart, and alpha male? ✔✔✔✔✔

    Other 5 Star Attributes:
♪ Tee – I think Ryder’s description of his cousin was very fitting. ”While Layla makes you want to protect her, her older sister, Tenielle, makes you want to hide your valuables and cup your balls. She’s one of the hardest girls in my life to protect because she’s so damn independent. It frustrates me, but it also makes me proud as hell.” Tee definitely isn’t afraid to be herself and doesn’t seem to care what others might think about her. She also made me laugh out loud on several occasions!

♪ Lexi – She has had a difficult life. Her father left when she was young and she lost her mother three years prior to the beginning of this story. During the three years following her mother’s death, Lexi was travelling the world, working random jobs, and pretty much lived like a nomad. I loved that even though she hasn’t had the easiest circumstances in life, she didn’t let that drag her down as a person.

♪ There was a huge twist in the story line that I did not see coming at all!

Overall, I could not put this novella down! The characters, story, and humor completely had me hooked! It was definitely a 5 Star read for me!

    Memorable Quotes:
“There are no words for how stunning you look, Lexi, and I write songs.”

♪ Lexi: “this is the best desert ever. It’s like an orgasm in your mouth!”

While Layla makes you want to protect her, her older sister, Tenielle, makes you want to hide your valuables and cup your balls.

I take a step back when a scantily clad blonde jumps into my arms and fuses her lips to mine. I detach her from me as soon as I can, but by then the damage is done.

Nikki isn’t a subject I want to breach. I thought that one day when I was ready to settle down she would be mine, but I was wrong. End of story. Life goes on.

“Queen of hearts?” “Your new nickname,” he says proudly. “How the hell did I get that nickname?” I ask, confused. “It’s a secret,” Ryder mock whispers, passing me the guitar.

“Most of all it’s this heart shaped ass. It's perfection,”

Who doesn’t want a bad boy, tattooed musician who is tough on the outside, but sweet and gentle on the inside?

“Any woman that takes a cheater back is stupid. And I’m not a stupid woman, Sax! What would happen when you went on tour? The trust is gone, you can never get that back.” I hiss at him.

“I think we should give this a go, Ryder, don’t you?” Nikki says huskily. “I guess we could give us a try, or we will always be wondering what if,”

If Lexi finds out I even attempted a relationship with Nikki, that’s another strike against me. I've fucked up so bad, it’s not even funny.

After I had left, heartbroken, Ryder resumed a relationship with Nikki. It didn’t matter to him one bit that I was gone. I’m not gonna lie – it hurt to hear it.

Derek undresses himself afterwards, his brown eyes connected to mine the entire time. I gulp when I take in his muscular body. He's ripped.  He pushes me back onto the bed, and pulls a condom out of his wallet, putting it on his aroused cock. When he leans over me and slides inside me with one smooth thrust, I moan out, “Ryder.” He instantly stills. Oh, shit. Shit, shit, shit.

I storm into Sax’s place without even knocking, and I'm shocked when I see him with a chick in his bed. She’s on all fours, and he’s pounding away behind her. I so do not need to see this shit, especially when I recognize the girl. It’s Payton, the bartender from Steele.

“We were about to have sex for the first time,” he tenses, “and then when it was about to happen, I sort of moaned out your name.” He doesn’t say anything, but I can feel his chest shaking, and when I look up he bursts out laughing.

Let me start out by saying that I love the Resisting Love Series. While Ryder was not my favorite so far, I still liked it.

We got our first taste of Ryder (although not a lot) in Chase & Kade. Ryder is in a band and also a player. He may have a reputation with the women, but when it comes to his family, he is extremely protective and loving and would do anything for them.

Tenielle, his cousin shows up on his doorstep looking for a place to stay with her friend Lexi, after being gone for quite some time. When Lexi meets Ryder, the chemistry was very strong for both of them. Things progress quickly between the two until one night something unexpected happens to change everything. While out listening to Ryder and his band, Lexi runs into someone from her past which causes complications between herself and Ryder.

Lexi has to make some decisions which may or may not affect her relationship with Ryder. Ryder also has to make some decisions which could affect his relationship with Lexi or his career or both. Will Ryder choose between the love of his life or will he choose his love of music and loyalty to his band?

Lets just say that there are a few things that happen that will make you laugh and make you cry. Will relationships that have been torn apart be able to be mended? Will people be able to move on with their lives? I won't give any more of the story out. You will have to read it to find out. I would highly recommend reading the whole series.

When I first read this I gave it 4 stars and I’m not really sure why, I absolutely don’t like lying and to me Lexi flat out lies to Ryder and never told the truth. At the end when they are reconciling she tells him she cried out his name right as she was about to have sex with other guy but the truth is she cried out his name when the guy was sliding inside her. So to me she made it sound like they never actually had sex and they did. Not a big deal to some I guess since they weren’t together but I believe in total disclosure.

Only because it too short, so the story like in hurry when you read it. But I love Ryder.

    HOLY F&*^%$# SH*&!

Girls you are like the gift that keeps on giving.......

I wanted more of Ryder since I first read about him in Chase and Lord help me Jesus did I just blow off work and am half a$$ cooking to finish this book and yes ladies and gentlemen this book was so worth the sh*& load of work I have to do tonight. Man Ryder has always been very protective of his family and no matter what he is always there for them. So when his cousin comes back from traveling and needs a place to stay he agrees and when he sees the beautiful bomb shell behind her who is her best friend he is all about it.

When Tee comes back into town and does not tell her family she is back she has no place to stay. She knows Ryder has an extra room because they talk regularly and they are not only cousins but best friends. Ryder is serious about taking care of his family and so when Tee shows up with Lexi he says yes they can stay at his place for a while while they look for an apartment but what Ryder never figured on was that he would fall for Lexi and hard. As he and Lexi get to know one another he realizes they have a lot in common and he starts feeling things he never felt before.

But with all good things there are secrets and hidden pasts and when sh*& hits the fan things will go from great to bad in a nano second and Ryder and Lexi will have to fight hard to keep what they have. Will they fight for the love they deserve or will they walk away and move on.....

Ryder is the man with the master plan so read on to see what happens between Ryder and Lexi!

I don't like reviewing novellas because I have no idea what to say and not spoil anything, but here goes.

Of the three books in this series I've read, I felt this one was the strongest. Sad it was a novella, because it would have made such a great full-length novel, but oh, well.

Both Ryder and Lexi are great characters and I really liked their story. It was kind of insta-love but it didn't bother me too much.

The twist I did not see coming at all! It was great.

The writing has improved and the story flows much better even if it skips in time a little.

There's a mildly graphic sex scene and some swearing.

Overall, I felt it best of the three. It had a beginning, a middle and an end which is something I find novellas usually lack. The second part was a little low on drama for what it could have been, but I can't complain because I don't like a lot of drama in books. Anyways, definitely recommended.

  • ~`*Ella Lee*`~

This mini-Ryder book was great. So great I wish it would have been longer! Oh well, it was a great tease that definitely will have me coming back for more. Of course, we already knew the mistake Ryder was going to make with Lexi from Kade & Nikki's book. What we didn't know was HOW MUCH HE SUCKED because of it. Man I was so mad at him. I was hoping they weren't as in love as they were when it happened. Bad man that angst felt so good! Kudos ladies for writing it so well. Ryder was a perfect alpha hero. So good I wished for a little damsel in distress danger to show his over protectiveness even more because I totally love that stuff. But even without it, it was all good.
I loved that the separation wasn't drawn out and that even though he made a huge mistake with Nikki that made Lexi wonder if she meant anything at all, it was what he DIDN'T do that allowed the reader to see that he really did love her and wasn't being a total douche-bag, and you really could forgive him right along with the heroine.
Can't wait for the next book! Also, thank you authors for not making us wait long for each book. It is so exciting to pick up the next book because I already know without looking back where we are at and who's who. I know it may not always be like that, but because these first few have been close, it's guaranteed me not to veer too far from their stories.

I enjoyed this story. It's part of a series featuring recurring characters but I read this as a standalone and it all made sense.
Ryder is lead singer in an up and coming band. Lexi is a friend of his cousin who stays with him. The chemistry between the two of them was great. I loved the fact that even though this was a short story, the way they got together wasn't rushed. They weren't jumping on one another within minutes of meeting. The tension is so much better if it's drawn out like that and I enjoyed anticipating where all the searing looks and low whispers were leading.
Unfortunately once they did get together they have a shock when they realize they share a mutual friend. I felt the story was a little rushed from that point, there was enough plot for a full length story but the story whipped through to the end at breakneck speed and the epilogue jumped years ahead. This definitely left me craving more. I'll be looking out for more in this series.

  • Maureen Mayer

Hmm I hate to say it, but I'd have to give this 2.5-3 stars. This wasn't like the first two books at all. I felt like there was definitely something missing. The character development, in my opinion, was poor (especially for Lexi), there was no humor like in the first two books, and I didn't really feel much of a connection between Ryder and Lexi. Honestly, the only part I liked was the twist with Saxon, but even that part was a little dry. I love this series, but this book definitely wasn't for me.

  • Leeloo Dallas - Books Fifth Element

Hmmm, I started reading the 2.5 book in the series Ryder and now I want to read also Kade -yummy- and Chase. I noticed that there are 2 authors that wrote the books. I want to see the difference between the way each writes if any

I definitely liked this one better then the first two. it just seemed to flow better

This novella wasn’t good. But wasn’t awful. She forgave too easy. Him dating Nikki ruined him for me. But I can’t stop reading the damn series so I couldn’t give it 1 star like I wanted lol. 2.25 stars ⭐️not safe

    Ariana's review:

    4 Stars!!!

I absolutely love the way this series has been written so far! Each book dives into a new character and story line based off a smaller part from the preceding book... All the while keeping with the same basic story. And yet it is not just a re-telling of what you have already read but rather a more in-depth look into parts which were barely touched previously. There has not been any point in time while reading these books so far where I sat there trying to skim through parts while thinking to myself "didn't I already read this?".

This book is a novella which tells the story of Ryder and Lexi. They first meet when his cousin Tee shows up at his door after traveling for quite some time needing a place to crash until her and Lexi can find an apartment to rent. Ryder is instantly drawn to Lexi, but when some chick shows up at his door the same night they meet, Lexi puts up her guard. Being that her ex had cheated on her while she was grieving the loss of her mother, the only family she had, she was very cautious of opening up to another man.

Ryder has a dream of making it big with his band. And just as that dream begins to become closer to a reality, Lexi enters his life. He has his heart set on her, and he will have her. Not just as a quick fling like the girls in the past, but for the long run. If he has to chose, he knows what his choice will be.

"When I have you, you're going to be blown away."

What Ryder doesn't know is that the one thing Lexi had been running from the past few years is actually a very big part of his life and a piece in his future. But when they are both faced with the fact that people they each cared about in the past now want to be a part of their lives, will they be able to move forward together, or will the past simply drag them apart?

I absolutely cannot wait to begin reading the next book, James! This series is a MUST READ!

Well, I’m happy to say that RYDER is hands down, the best book of this series so far! Now, the fact that it’s a novella makes it a bit tricky to compare it to the previous two books, but here goes.

The writing style, although different because it is a novella, is SO MUCH BETTER. I love how the authors drop little tid-bits of info into the story only to weave them back in later. And there are no glaring inconsistencies or holes in the plotline like in KADE.

Now, I do agree with some of the reviewers who say the book is shorter. Of course, it is. It’s a novella! Although, I too would love a full-length book for Ryder and Lexi, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of them in the future installments. The banter, while a pure joy to read in the previous two books is still present, just not to the same degree and again, I think this has to do with the fact that it’s a novella. I’m happy that the authors chose to focus more so on the story itself versus filling it with steamy sex scenes and/or witty banter like most novellas out there. It truly is a perfect setup for the last half of the series. Now, I really can’t wait to get my hands on JAMES! No pressure ladies, but I’m expecting it to be the best yet!

    description

I'm a big fan of RESISTING SERIES and I would like to say thank you to the authors for writing a novella for RYDER. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with short books but despite it being a novella, reading Ryder's story was a treat for me!

We saw a few glimpsed of him in Chase and Kade's book and I got interested from there on. Ryder is a bad ass guitarist and a player, but what I find adorable is that he's loyal, protective and loving specially when it comes to his family!

I'm just giving this a 4 star because as everyone mentioned, it's too darn short! I liked Ryder but I didn't fall in love with him... I wanted to.. but the story just didn't do any justice on him. I didn't feel the BAM! that I felt with the other books in this series. Don't get me wrong, I'm not disappointed or anything (just wished it was longer! hehe!)

Ryder is a short story but it's well written with a hot possessive hero, likeable heroine and a surprise twist at the end! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!

NOW I CANNOT WAIT FOR JAMES BOOK! ^_^

These Girls know I LOVE their work!!! And Ryder is no different.

We got a Glimpse into Ryder in Chase and Kade, but now we finally get to meet the real him, and trust me, There is so much more to Ryder underneath thay rugged exterior... Literally :P

Ryder is total swoon-worthy! He is a lead singer in a band, loyal friend and family member, funny, a sweet talker and knows the way to a woman's heart through music. You cant help but feel sorry for him when he has difficult decisions to make. Life, Love or Loyalty????

Lexi, is a sweet and innocent girl, not looking for much, until she meets Ryder! And how can you blame her really!!!!!

There are some beautiful times, some sad times, some funny times, some HOT times, and some bad timing, but all lead to a beautiful love story.

Great Series! Keep them coming! And thanks again for giving me the privilege to read an amazing book before anyone else.

It’s no secret that I am a HUGE fan of the Resisting Love Series. Having devoured Chase and Kade, I must admit I wasn’t quite looking forward to Ryder. I think that because he didn’t play a major role in the first two books, I really didn’t know what to expect from him. I am so glad I finally sat down to read it!! Ryder was just delicious!! This is a very quick read (it is a novella) and I devoured it in one sitting. I absolutely loved Ryder. He was always so protective of his family and it was so nice to see him find love. He truly is an ultimate rock star with a heart of gold. You are introduced to a few new characters in this story and I’m so excited hoping that it will lead to more books in the series. So if you love the Resisting Love series as much as me, you need to read this now!! If you havent read any of the series, then you need to do so immediately.

The only issue that I have with Ryder is that it didn't have as much drama as the other two... I don't know I guess I secretly love all the drama.. lol.. It was still a great book... Ryder is awesome and is totally hooked on Lexi from the start but once he finds out what she means to his friend and what it could mean to his band he stupidly backs off in a very hurtful way to Lexi.. Lexi is the shy girl who plays the guitar. Ryder is the outgoing Rockstar. Their relationship is going to be interesting.

It's was great to see all the original Chase and Kade characters. I have fell in love with them all and this novella keeps them alive for me.

I love this book and would recommend it to everybody!!

Ryder is another great story in an amazing series! I love Lexi and Ryders love story and can't wait for James and Derek's stories! Please Please Please Please let Sax, Jet and Kid get stories too! and Tee too if she doesn't fall madly in love with Kid or Sax!
