This was one of my most highly-anticipated books of the year and it delivered everything I'd hoped for and more!! The Crossfire series is one of my all-time favorites. Gideon and Eva’s tumultuous and intensely passionate love story first captured my heart years ago and this final book kept me glued to the page from the moment I started until the very end. I adored every word and I couldn’t be happier with the ending. It’s extraordinarily gratifying to read about these two damaged people who love each so deeply and with such intensity working as hard as they can to build a healthy relationship and emerging stronger as a couple in a way that makes you truly believe that their love will last forever and ever and ever.His hand curved around my nape, the hold possessive and tender at once. His face was impassive, giving nothing away, but his eyes… those blue, blue eyes… they raged with emotion. “We’re going to make it, angel.”
I'm not going to mention the plot at all in this review because if you've read the series, then you know where Gideon and Eva are at and if you haven't, then I don't want to give anything at all away. So this review is more about my reaction TO the book.
The one thing I've loved since the first book was that you are always made to believe that Gideon and Eva's love for each other is the kind of love that transcends pure desire, but has the depth to wether any storm. Even when they fight (as any couple naturally would in a growing relationship), you can always feel that there's a genuine reason behind their disagreements. Given their respective painful and damaging pasts, being open and communicative is an area that is shaky for them and so you definitely see them stumble and fall, but they always get up stronger. You genuinely see the strength of their relationship grow over the series. I really applaud Sylvia Day for writing such an incredibly erotic series that was balanced with so much depth and complexity that it truly made this story one that you can't stop thinking about.
So often it's people's insecurities and fears that are the root cause behind actions that might seen irrational or unwarranted but in this book, Gideon and Eva have grown so much and we're always shown the causes of their actions. It's like getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes view into their minds and you don't just see their actions, you see why they're acting a certain way. It's the ultimate example of 'showing not telling' with writing and this level of emotional depth and detail kept me constantly connected to the these characters. More than anything, this quote represents the book so much to me:“Gideon and I challenged each other. We pushed each other to change and grow. Sometimes, we hurt each other to accomplish something or make a point, which worried Dr. Petersen but somehow was working for us. We could forgive each other for anything except betrayal.
It was inevitable that others, especially those close to us, would look at us from the outside and wonder how and why it worked, and whether it should. They couldn’t understand— and I didn’t blame them because I was only just starting to really grasp it myself— that we pushed ourselves harder than we ever pushed each other. Because we wanted to be the best possible versions of ourselves, to be strong enough to be what the other needed.”
Even when one of them messed up, it was never out of insensitivity or ignorance, but rather it was usually out of a desire or in an intense circumstance where one of them truly believed that they were doing the right thing for the other person. It was a learning curve for both of them to trust each other and do the right thing, but it really gave validity to their mistakes and strength to their growth.“We both had a rough moment there, but we didn’t fuck it up. It was like we knew how to make it right between us. And we knew that we would. There wasn’t any doubt about that, either.”
For those of you wondering and needing reassurance, there is no cheating, no love triangle, and no stupid drama in this book. Gideon and Eva love each other more than anything. They're not the kinds of people to ever jeopardize that relationship and in this book, you see that more clearly than ever. They belong to each other and no one else. I can honestly say that that was one thing I never questioned.
From the very start of this series, I've been completely captivated by this beautiful, erotic, and heartfelt love story. There's a special intensity that Gideon and Eva's relationship always had that really resonated with me deeply. Back when I read Bared To You when it was first released, I remember it was the first book in my life that I read, finished, and immediately flipped back to page one to read again. Since then, I've been addicted to this story and loved each one of the books.
Every time I start a Crossfire book, I get this supercharged feeling of excitement. My heart races, emotions are heightened, and this time it was bittersweet anticipation because, while I couldn't wait to read more of Gideon and Eva, I was sad to see their story end. However, by the end of the book I was left with such a full-filled and satisfied feeling that I couldn't be happier with the way their story concluded. Sylvia Day really did justice to this series because the ending was gorgeous. I truly loved it and highly recommend the Crossfire series to everyone as a top favorite!!ALWAYS MINE. PPS: Here are my personal responses to some of the criticisms... First, I strongly urge you NOT to read ANY of the reviews. For whatever reason, this series and Fifty Shades both attract so much criticism and hate in ways that I will personally never understand. But I as a long time fan of this series who read the first book literally when it was still an indie before it even had a major publishing deal, I can say that I loved this book. I loved it enough to purchase both the kindle copy and the paperback copy and feel like it was totally worth it. And... based on how well they both sell, it's clear that the majority of people love them too.
In response to people who say there was too much distance between books, I'd like to point out that considering this is a 5 book series and the first book was released in 2012, thats 5 books in 4 years which for a traditionally published series (which often does 1 book per year) is actually really normal. Most of us are used to reading indie books with very high turnaround and very little space between books, but we all have to remember that the traditional publishing world works on a very different timeline and this series release schedule was actually totally normal. The quality of the story was always high and I personally have loved them all and am happy to support this series.
And in response to people who say that all the side storylines (i.e. Cary's) wasn't fully wrapped up, I'd say that this was never Cary's story even though he was a major part of it and I liked that she laid the groundwork for things to happen in his life showing that things would be happening but I don't really personally need to read it in detail in order to believe that he will find his own HEA. Ironically, I so often see criticisms of books that wrap up every single side storyline with people commenting that it's all too perfect so I feel like authors are kind of damned if they do and damned if they don't. I personally think it's unfair. And I don't need to see side storylines wrapped up in a bow to be happy as long as they are set on a path to happiness, then I'm happy too.
And in response to people who wanted babies in the epilogue etc, I'd say first that you have to remember that this series takes place over a very few short months, babies would have been rushing things. And to me, the point/focus of this series was more about Gideon & Eva overcoming their pasts to be able to build a healthy relationship than necessarily seeing them live their future, and because of that focus, I was really happy with the ending. I feel like she ended the series at a point where I had no doubts that they'd fully built the trust needed to hold as a strong foundation for a life long healthy relationship. That was the point of the series: Can two abuse survivors who fall in love build a relationship that will last? They succeeded at that. By the epilogue you know they've created their forever. I guess I just don't need to see every detail of the rest of their lives played out for me in order to be fully satisfied with their story.
And finally I saw the info on her the next series she's writing and I'm so excited for that one. I'm glad she's moving to a new story even though I love this one deeply as probably one of my favorite series EVER. But I'm also ready for something new :)

What?! I can't for the life of me understand the 5* reviews. How can anyone be satisfied with this ending or the entire read for that matter? It was barely a HFN forget about HEA. We got more of a HEA after book 3 when they secretly wed. We did not even receive all of the many issues brought before us resolved. Tatiana, I guess we're to assume she's still pregnant and that it is indeed Cary's? She was a no show in OWY, only spoken of, no dialogue. Corinne? Did the book ever publish and release or not? That was an exciting part, leading their dialogue to be fulfilling and promising with more angst to come, then nothing, fell flat to assumption. Elizabeth, well I guess that's life, she'll never accept what happened to him and is willing to lose everything because of her denial. Monica, good God the woman deserved more grieving, uncontrollable tears, Eva lending some comfort to Stanton, the man who did everything to protect her and raise her to get all the help she needed emotionally after Nathan. Stanton, even though Victor, her biological father was there for her, Stanton stepped up and supported her in many ways as if he were her biological father, Clancy for example how he made sure he looked out for Eva always even after Gideon's men showered her with protection. She had the best of everything unconditionally from that man. There should have been more of an interaction with Stanton and Eva after Monica died, especially with the circumstances. Victor?! Monica, was the love of his life, for forever. He never got over her, I expected to cry my eyes out from his grief alone dialogue, nope just a little dialogue, description of his red rimmed and glossy eyes. Then suddenly he's moving to NY to protect Eva on Gideon's payroll...ew! They go at it like rabbits at every chance they get cars, elevators, clubs, etc. and Gideon told Victor to expect their intimacy and that he would have to deal with it. Then he's moving in with Cary? So let's get this straight, a forty something year old man, straight is moving in with a twenty something year old man, a bi man, who cuts, may or may not be a father, who enjoys orgy's and hello...Victor's a cop! Eva, does she end up working for Gideon or not? Brett, yep after book 4 poof the man just ran off into the sunset. Christopher, we're to believe a therapist (Hugh) told him Gideon never wanted him at a young age and a quick conversation with Chris resolved that, suddenly he's up Gideon's butt. Then is Gideon's sleeping issue with Eva resolved nope, just assumption that it's getting better. Children in the future, maybe, sounds like Gideon's too selfish to share Eva with anyone including a creation of both of them. Lancorp, brought in then, nothing. Jean Francois Giroux just mentioned in this one, like Tatiana. Deanna Johnson, really after all that ghostwriter nonsense with Corinne's book she's now going to work for Gideon? What is that? The best that came from this book was Lucky and Gideon's friends. Cary, who I found funny in books 1&2, the man became annoying and immature and did nothing to grow as Eva did. He did nothing but hold her back and that's a shame.
After all of that and there's more trust me, then we have the repetitive nonsense. We got a recap of books 1-4 over and over and over and over again! Redundant. I loved the breather of them with no sex but once it started again bam it Did. Not. Stop! I had to skim through it, it was too much. They are more than that. Books 1-3 held a much different story than this series ending in 4&5. It almost was like Day lost sight of who Gideon and Eva were at the beginning. That's just so sad. We deserved a good cry for loss or for happiness but it just wasn't possible. I don't know how this got approved for publishing. How anyone thought this would make fans happy. Is this all for some kind of material for a TV series? Why would we want to watch it now? For that great epilogue? Why the hype of a great wedding to be shared with family and friends when it was never to be? Now we meet the Reyes'?
I will mention I give 1 * for the book itself but if I could, I'd give 5*s for Sylvia's writing because she is seriously talented when it comes to her word structure, the expressive flow and details. Because of this I can't stress enough how I wish someone, a friend, the publishing team, anyone would have guided her before it was approved for release. She deserved much better guidance than this, how can anyone think her true readers that really loved Gideon and Eva would be okay with this mess. I hope this is definitely the end of the road for Gideon and Eva because it just gets worse with each new book and I'm sorry to say I will not be purchasing anything else from this author. Goodbye and good luck Gideon and Eva. -

You see, elastics too get loose if you over stretch them. The same way, dragging a used up story line is not going to work any more. People are bloody going to get fed-up!!
I AM FED-UP OF A ABUSED BILLIONAIRE MALE AND HIS DARK PAST. And even more fed-up of too much sex and no story in a novel.
I mean, yes if book 4 and 5 feature new characters it will work, but if they drag it out... NO FUCKING WAYS.

2 Stars? 4 Stars? I'M NOT SURE! There were parts of this book that I loved while other parts bored or confused me. I guess I'll settle for 3 maybe 3 1/2 stars.
Overall, I loved this series! I loved every second I spent in Gideon and Eva's world, especially during the first THREE books. The TRILOGY aspect of this series was phenomenal. I even loved the fourth book, though it brought nothing new to Gideon and Eva's love story.
As for this book? Well, I'm not sure what to think. There were aspect that I absolutely loved (LUCKY, THE PUPPY), other parts that I really enjoyed, and a few parts that bored me—enough already with Gideon's ex's causing problems. Then there was the subplot that came out of nowhere and had me questioning what series and genre I was reading. The direction the author took the plot toward the end of this book was simply bizarre.
I know many had issues with the ending and the illusive way the author wrapped up some subplots. I, personally, didn't have a problem with it. I felt all the characters were left in a good place and their issues resolves enough that I was fine filling in the blanks myself. I did want a bit more from the epilogue. At this point, though, I'm not sure the author could have satisfied all her readers with any type of ending, so the happy-for-now one was probably for the best.
Now that this series is complete, do I feel the last two books were necessary? ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, NOT!!! But I'm glad I finished the series.
I closed this book with the reassurance that Gideon and Eva were on the steady path of healing and their relationship would, in fact, weather the storms. BUT, that didn't require five books to accomplish. So, as much as I enjoyed this series, book four and five were completely irrelevant to the overall storyline and seemed to cause more damage than good for a lot of readers, which is a shame! Gideon and Eva deserved more than the sour taste this series left in the mouth of those readers.
Overall, it's been an amazing journey. I love Gideon and Eva. I love their struggles, their failures, their triumphs, and their commitment to improving not only themselves but their relationship. Their epic romance will be with me for a very long time. -
2.5 stars I've liked this series since the beginning, but what a soap opera this story turned out to be. Dragging out the drama and adding a million side stories and histories just made everything seem repetitive and melodramatic, Eva and Gideon's relationship really doesn't progress much beyond the barest superficial stuff, a lot of things just didn't make sense, and it's kind of crazy that after five books the author still chose to leave a number of loose ends. (Like we'd actually be clamoring for more or something.) Plus--call me jaded, but Eva's fabulous clothes might've been more exciting than the sex in this one.
I'm also docking a half star for the unbelievably controlling decisions Gideon takes after the big climactic scene towards the end of the book in not telling Eva a major, major thing. It's nice to indulge in a little bit of "billionaire wants to take care of everything and shelter you" fantasy, but it crosses the line when you treat someone like a child incapable of dealing with life events. Oh, and the egregious overuse of pet names still annoys me. Stop calling him "ace!" Stop calling her "angel!" Cary, stop calling her "baby girl!"
Ugh. Please let the next series be limited to no more than three books. I also see nothing wrong with standalones, c'moooon. -

I have decided to stop reading this series. It was originally ADVERTISED as a trilogy but after the success of the first 2 books the author became greedy and decided to release a 4th and 5th book. I am so disgusted and disappointed by this author. She is clearly taking this opportunity to make a quick buck and thinks nothing of the fans that are responsible for her success. For now I will no longer read ANY books by this author. Maybe when I've calmed down that will change but for now all I can say is, "SHAME on YOU, Sylvia Day!"

I keep checking the series because I'm terrified a book #6 is going to pop up. But while I'm here I want to say a few things.
Everyone complaining about there being 2 more books, carry on. Everyone accusing Sylvia Day of having evil money making intentions, saying she is taking advantage of her fans by extending the series solely to grow her piles of money, you need to chill. I am seeing it everywhere. I say this mostly with love. I lied, I'm probably not capable of the emotion. But you sound hysterical, a little crazy, and about as reasonable as this guy.
Seriously, I'm concerned.
1. I doubt that's the reasoning behind the 2 extra books. It's likely her writing plans got away from her. Things change. Plot bunnies have a tendency to fuck like rabbits and reproduce. It causes mayhem. It happens to the best of them (ex. George R.R. Martin).
2. Like George R.R. Martin, Sylvia Day is not your
bitch. She can pretty much do whatever she pleases with her own characters. They are her intellectual property.
3. Sylvia Day is a professional writer. She writes in order to make money. It's how she earns a living. So, everyone moaning about how she is writing these books in order to make a profit. Well, you're damn fucking right she is. And you still sound unreasonable, because I don't get how you missed that very important aspect of the publishing industry.
Can we all agree to bitch reasonably? Complain about the added books. Please, complain away. Need help? Complain about things like:
1. The added wait time for the series to end.
2. A far off HEA with drama obstacles strewn haphazardly along the way.
3. All the extra sex scenes you will have to wade through.
4. The fact that your ovaries can't take all the explosions.
5. Not much happening in the middle books. Sure, they may feel like filler from time to time. But it's important you know how Eva styled her hair on Tuesday.
Please, for the love of sanity, just stop viciously attacking the author for doing her job.

When One with You went live, I clicked the audio and started it right away. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book for the longest and I was so excited to get back into the world of Gideon Cross and his angel, Eva. My overall thoughts- I really enjoyed this book. Honestly, I feel like it had a lot of 5-star potential. There were a few things in the last 20% that irked me personally and had me lowering my rating, but truly I did love this book and this series is a favorite of mine.
Gideon and Eva are together and strong. They’re married now and determined that nothing can ever tear them apart. Gideon is fantastic and alpha as ever, but what really surprised me was how strong Eva was throughout the entire book. I loved the confrontation she had with another side character…
“You got the fairy tale right. But Gideon’s the beauty. I’m the beast.”
Gideon has never met anyone like Eva. He’s never needed anyone before, but he needs her. They need each other.
I loved the growth of their relationship throughout the book. As I said, a few things at the end rubbed me the wrong way and I wish they were handled differently but that may be just me. Another thing that made me so happy was watching the relationship between Gideon and Chris change. My heart soared with every scene they were together. I also liked Cary’s changes.
The Crossfire series will always hold a special place in my heart. Bared to You was one of the first books I read after 50, and in many ways, I’ve loved this series more. It’s had its ups and downs, but overall I feel like it ended on a high note. I think lovers of this series will really enjoy this conclusion.
If you’re like me and love broken characters who find healing in each other, if you’re looking for an epic love story that’s captivating and enthralling, pick this one up!

One with You is an unnecessary addition to the series in every single way. However, I was more than okay with Sylvia for adding book 4 and 5 to this series back then because it means there're more books to read and I love to follow the incidents after the wedding that happened in Entwined with You. At first, it's such a real joy. But after I finished this book, I knew suddenly that I'd been terribly wrong. Moreover, I think this is the worst book I've ever read this year. I'm so sorry, guys !
I didn't hate this book because it's bad and edgy. Noooo ! this book is well-written and her writing style is immaculate, the characters I've seen are the ones I always love since the first book. Gideon and Eva are the same persons they've been before, and they continuously find the way out of the problems. I'm glad to see that, of course. So who can resist the attraction between them while Gideon always adores her like she's an anchor to his life ? I know you've been curious why I gave this book just one star, so I will tell you from the next line straight.
- The story is pointless and boring. I couldn't see the point of it more than G and E bicker. They make love. They have the new problems coming. and eventually they say how much they love each other and BOOM ! Love conquers all. Dragging on is very terrible indeed.
- The whole point of this book gets nowhere. I didn't know what's going on with Gideon's exes, or anything. As if Sylvia thought this book was overly long and she wanted to end it, so by all means, it ended.
- The conflicts, especially in the last few chapters, are absurd, I can't even accept they exist for real.
- I couldn't stop feeling detached all the time G and E are together. They love each other, of course, but that's all I'd got. I didn't feel any dynamic in the relationship in this book at all. It already reached its highest point in book three and four, so this one is kind of a falling action for me.
- The sex scenes are so bleak I felt sleepy every time I read it.

Sorry for the fans of Gideon and Eva. Frankly, I can't make myself love this book even if I want to love it so badly like you. I swear, if there's just a little point that made me want to give it more than this, I would add the stars without hesitation.

A letdown.
This is the worst book of the series. It was so boring and didn’t have much of a plot. Nothing new here. Too many unnecessary conversations. Too much internal dialogue. Too much drama. It was pointless to add to the book. To be honest, with or without those, they made no difference to me at all. In my opinion, they contributed nothing to the story!
I loved both Gideon and Eva in the first and second installment, but in this one, I felt mostly indifferent toward them. They did nothing but annoy the hell out of me.
And what upset me the most was that there was no actual conclusion to the series! What about their ‘sleeping separately’ problem? Can they completely fix it? I think I didn’t get the answer, or did I miss something while reading this? I can’t believe I read five books for no answer!
I was dissatisfied with the ending. Enough said!

5 'One with Me' Stars
My rating is more for the complete series than this one book alone, but ESPECIALLY for the incredible love and devotion Gideon and Eva have for one another. I adored how secure they were of the other's feelings for them, and the complete faith and trust they've shown in their relationship, all throughout the book. And Gideon, OMG, he couldn't be more delicious (no wonder all the OW drama, we all want a piece of him...lol). I loved how we could really see, not only the evolving of their relationship, but also their incredible personal growth. It was simply beautiful....
That being said, there were added to this book some elements I could really go without, , I get that it was to show her unmoving trust in this love and loyalty, but added to the book reveal, Corinne and Anne, it was just to much, and unnecessary, in my opinion.
The last 20-15% felt rushed and left some small unanswered questions. And the epilogue didn't even come close to satisfying me (yes, I'm a greedy bitch, but you probably already knew that, lol! I just felt that ending of such a long and awaited series, it finished with a time frame basically in the present, which translates in having no look into their future and not only theirs, but all the characters that were so important throughout this adventure.
Anyway, this is mainly my personal wishful thinking (and maybe at some point some other book will cross between series and brings us back to this universe and characters -I really hope so) and just SMALL details in the roller coaster ride that has been the Crossfire series, and I adored every second of it!!!
I would read it all over again come to this point, that's how much I loved their love story.
Sylvia Day's writing is truly addictive and so enrapturing, that she gets us so hooked in the first book that by the end we are already anxiously awaiting the next fix like a true junkie! Crossfire will always keep a special place in my heart as one of my favorite series of all times, as will Gideon and Eva! <3

If there were more than 5 stars, this would be the book , the series, I would give them to.
I LOVED IT!
I'm pretty sure many readers will be disappointed - like with book #4 - no idea why, it's something I just can't understand. I didn't understand it with book #4 and I won't understand it now. If you've loved the series from the first book, you just have to love it all through to the end. And I do. Even if it took Sylvia YEARS to give us those last two books, that's no reason to write a bad review!
I don't want to say anything about what happens in this last book - don't want to spoil anything.
Just know that it's just as amazing, sexy, sad, funny, adorable, deeply moving as the first 4 books. I wish this series would never end....Maybe in a few years Sylvia will gift us with an epi-epilogue...to tell us where our darlings are and how they're doing. Also there were some loose ends here and there...mostly about secondary characters...
Perfect ending to a perfect series!
(if I had to mention a few things that bothered me a bit in this book - it would only be the too-detailed Brazil travel-guide aka Sylvia Day, and the too many times the word FIEND was used...and...but pffff - those are just 3 tiny little things!)

I'm torn with how to review this one......
Well it's over, sadly it's over and I don't feel like I got the ending I wanted. I didn't hate it, I question a lot of 'why' did certain things happen, the way this book moved in directions I thought were wrong, but ultimately I got what I was waiting for.
But really that was like 2 books ago.
I was nervous going into this last book. A lot of time invested in my love for Gideon & Eva. My love grew for them in this book yet I wanted to see so much more for them both.
Not only was I invested in the two main characters I was invested in the majority of secondary ones as well. And I feel so much of their stories are left wide open and unfinished. I definitely want more (not really, I couldn't handle another book) but I want to have that HEA I have been craving since book 3.
With that said, I'm left feeling let down and my story is unfinished. However I will always love Gideon & Eva!!!❤️❤️ Again I didn't hate this book, I just didn't love it -

I so looked forward to this book, only to get majorly disappointed.
I loooooove this series so much, and I will cherish all of the previous books in it, EXCEPT this one.
This was a mess of a mess!!!! There was some sort of disconnect here. It's almost the author forgot the characters and the story she was writing. I don't recognize the characters in this book, or even the story...
I hope it's not really the final one. If it's not the final one, my rating might change. But for now, it's a big ass ZERO for me. -

One With You is the fifth and final book in the Crossfire series, and frankly I’m surprised I enjoyed it so much. Let’s just say I was less than pleased with the previous book,
Captivated by You. The series seemed to be going downhill fast. Then Sylvia Day made us wait for-freaking-ever for this last installment which really irritated me. There was about a year and a half between the release of Captivated by You and this book. That’s a long-ass time! I have the world’s crappiest memory. I have a hard time remembering the details of books I read last month, let alone over a year ago. Yeah, so I was prepared for a rather mediocre conclusion to a story I barely recalled. Quelle surprise! I liked it.
Sylvia Day provides the perfect amount of exposition to help the reader remember key events without getting bogged down with too many details. Eva was annoying as hell in the previous book, behaving like a spoiled teenager prone to temper tantrums. Gideon seemed like a victim of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, acting like a whiny, powerless pussy. I couldn’t recognize him at all and what’s more I didn’t like him.
I’m happy to say that Gideon has his mojo back. He and Eva have finally matured into a healthy couple—gasp. Manipulations and game playing are a thing of the past between them. This book focuses on them strengthening their marriage while making preparations for their vow renewal ceremony in front of family and friends. There are many obstacles (i.e., drama) and twists that keep the plot moving and captured my interest throughout.
I do wish some of the loose ends regarding Cary’s story and Corinne were tied up. Otherwise, I think this is a fitting conclusion to the series and there’s nothing else that needs to be added to Eva and Gideon’s story. I truly hope Ms. Day doesn’t decide produce a sixth book. As the Beatles sing, let it be.

Long story short: I was expecting MUCH more from this book but it seems the ideas just run out. What is also a big issue for me is that this series reminds me too much of another one I read on a regular basis. What the heck am I talking about? Try reading the In Death series. I know the author admitted to liking it but in reality it seemed more like Crossfire is a fan tribute to J.D. Robb :)

Some authors just want to watch the world burn:
This book was pointless. It wasn't bad, it certainly wasn't good, but it didn't add anything to the story.
I'm happy I finished this series, and this world, but I couldn't help but want more. I know this story gets trashed on a lot because of
Fifty Shades of Grey, but this was always the superior book series.
I couldn't help myself from buying this the day it came out, even though I should have known better. My reading tastes have shifted so much from when I was in college, but I just always viewed this series as a guilty pleasure. I saw the warnings from the very first chapter, but I was in too deep, too invested, I couldn't stop myself from devouring it.
The bright side of this book is the sex was great, like always in this series. I'm seriously Gideon trash. Like, I know he's a controlling prick that I would end up slapping if I ever heard him speak in real life, but the sex - Good Lord, the sex. 12/10, would read again.
Unfortunately, the sex was probably the only bright side. Even the "twist" at the end felt like complete shock value. Or maybe it was for a spinoff prequel? Also, I can totally see Cary getting his own spin-off, because we learn nothing about his situation. Regardless, I probably won't invest in anything else this series, or Sylvia Day, has to offer.
It's been a crazysex-filledride, but I'm happy to get the fuck off this train. This book was completely unnecessary, and the series would have ended on a much higher note if it stopped with
Entwined with You as originally intended.

Always Mine. Forever Yours.
And so Gideon and Eva's story has come to an end. How do I feel? Exhausted, and kinda unsatisfied. Sadly disappointed.
Sylvia Day created two extraordinary characters in Gideon and Eva....and I just wish that she could have found a way to streamline her storytelling. This series, and this book in particular, is entirely too long. SO. MUCH. FILLER.
Their story is complex....their love is intense, passionate, all-consuming, and filled with a desperate yearning for healing and peace. I don't deny that or doubt it.
But holy hell was this series dragged out and padded with so much extra stuff in the last couple of books that all that potent emotion was diluted with forced prose and repetitiveness.
I didn't need constant reminding of Gideon and Eva's connection, nor of their attraction. Got it. Been reading about it for 5 books now.
He would never be just a man. He was ferocity sheathed in elegance, perfection veined with flaws.
It shook me to the core to know that I could bring her some measure of peace. And what had she brought me?
Everything.
And the added stuff with Eva's mom? Why? No, seriously? WHYYYY? What the hell was the point of it? Did it add anything, ANYTHING, to the story? Absolutely not. Oh no...wait...it added words and pages.
I'm happy that Eva and Gideon are finally in a place where they're fully trusting each other, adapting & evolving their coping mechanisms, and growing both individually and as a couple. I'm happy for them. But do I feel they got a true HEA? Ummm, not really. There's still stuff I have questions about, and not all the threats are dealt with and gone.
There's still loose strings with secondary characters too - you know, those folks that also got their own subplots. Why include it in this FIVE book series if you're not going to resolve everything?
I've said this before, but this series holds a special place in my heart. I read Bared to You when it first came out years ago and immediately fell head over heels in love with Eva and Gideon's story. The passion that these two share is addicting and combustible and I was drawn to every part of their fiery relationship.
The second book came out and I devoured it as fast as I could. I couldn't get enough of the explosive intensity that poured out of these two. The second book only cemented what I already knew....Gideon and Eva were etched into my heart.
But with each passing book since then, my frustration has grown with the unraveling of their story.
And now that I've come to the end, instead of feeling this deep satisfaction and full heart that Gideon and Eva have gotten their HEA...what I feel like is a tired marathon runner. I've crossed the finish line, am waiting to get my participation ribbon, and definitely ready go home and take a nap.
Not exactly the end I wanted (and waitied for) for these two...but I'm happy they're happy. -

Gideon Cross, you have had my heart from the very beginning. I know you are a complete mess, but I don’t even know that I care.
I have loved this series, it was the first series I really fell into after reading Fifty. I know it bothered a lot of readers when it was extended to five books, but truthfully I would continue to read Gideon and Eva’s story indefinitely. This conclusion was bitter sweet for me and I truly enjoyed so much of it.
This won’t be a five star favorite for me just because there were a few things I just didn’t understand them being necessary to the story. Definitely a few things I wish had been different. Regardless in the end, I love this series and it will always be a favorite of mine.

I get that Ms. Day plans to make books 4 and 5 about Gideon finding peace but sorry 5 books is ridiculous!! Especially when it was originally supposed to be a trilogy!! Ugh.

Sylvia! You are KILLING, woman!!! I just recovered from the news that there is a 4th Crossfire book and now I find out there is a 5th one in the works?????? Please, please, PLEASE don't make us wait a year for 4 and 5!
