A great read, I really enjoyed it! It is a well written heartfelt funny romance that had me captivated from the beginning.

It's your typical college story about Gabby who is smart beautiful and feisty and Linc your hot college football star who fall in love and face some obstacles along the way. I really loved the chemistry between them and loved the build up and anticipation to their relationship instead of the usual jumping right into it.

Not only did I like the main characters, but the supporting cast was equally great they all contributed nicely to the overall story. So love the banters they made me laugh!

Overall, this was a fantastic read. It had moments of heartache and pain. Cannot wait for Russ and Annie's story!

Lying With Temptation is an incredible story about love, loss, and growing up. This story had me laughing and crying and screaming at my Kindle like a loony girl because there was so much going on and so much done to a good person that it reminded me of my high school days and how girls can be cruel and back stabbers. You have to be careful who your friends are. They say keep your friends close but your enemies closer but I say keep everyone close because your best friend can destroy you with the secrets you share with them.

In this case we meet strong, funny, sassy, and gorgeous Gabby who is best friends with Elle. Elle is a hot mess because she sleeps with every guy she wants to and she does not care. So Gabby protects Elle from the other girls who want to kick her butt but then Elle breaks the girl code by sleeping with the one guy Gabby has always wanted Reece. Gabby gives Reece her V card and he just blabs to everyone that she was not good and then turns around and starts sleeping with Elle. Elle and Reece decide they are going to have a relationship right under Gabby's nose. But when Gabby finds out she ends her friendship with Elle and decides to start college early because Reece has started rumors about her losing her V card to him. So Gabby and her best friend Cade decide to start college early.

Cade has football practice so he and Gabby are going to hang out and work out. Then Gabby meets her roommates and holy shiz when she sees Linc she is caught off guard by his looks and his personality. To Linc Gabby is his angel but he has been burned to and he is very cautious when it comes to girls but he is at college with his cousin and his best friend Russ who is a man whore so Linc decides he will hang out with Gabby while Russ goes out. Soon Gabby and Linc form a bond that is inseparable. As Gabby and Linc find their way to each other through the pain they find that there is a rainbow at the end of the rain storm.

Come along and read the greatest love story I have ever read! Team Linc all the way!

Gabby and Cade were best friends and lived next door to each other since they were kids. They are overprotective of each other and always had each other's backs.

Gabby liked Reese and gives up her V-card at a party. She walks into school the Monday after to find out from Cade that her other best friend, Elle had been sleeping with Reese and thinks she is pregnant. Add to that Reese had been talking about his and Gabby's encounter.

Embarassed Gabby decides to accept early entrance to college with Cade right behind her.

She finds herself in the co-ed dorm with her new roommates Daria, Russ and Linc.

The rest of the story touches on the typical college life, classes, parties and forming friendships. A tragedy brings Cade and Gabby back home with all their friends in tow.

It was nice to read about how Gabby and Linc's relationship developed from a warm friendship to a budding romance. I loved that Linc was so considerate of Gabby's feelings and took his time getting to know her before they consumated the relationship.

Oh yeah, I forgot there was a creepy, stalker Professor also randomly thrown in the mix. He was quickly taken care of before Gabby got really hurt, but how Linc reacted and took care of Gabby after the attack shows what a gentleman he is and how much he truly cares for her.

Gabby, Linc, Cade, Daria, Russ and Anna, Gabby's sister all moved into a house together at the end of the story. Now, we have to wait until Book 2 comes out which features Cade and Anna's story.

oh the writing was horrible! I tought about quitting A LOT! The storyline was okay. Gabby was annoying, Linc was sweet. Her bestfriend and his cousin were okay.

  • Lin

I couldn't connect with the main characters at all. She just seem like a complete idiot. The hole teacher thing just grossed me out.

  • Khanique McDaniel

My mind is panting after reading this book. I have once again found an author who writes in fast forward. I'm like slow down and take it from the top again. Everything is so rushed and therefore seems so unrealistic. It's like watching a movie in fast forward mode.

The mother full on rants on the ex-girl and the father then literally just spin around and say she's going to bed. Then we are on to the end of the week and visit is over ... like ... ahmm ...zn o.O

There is so much emotions portrayed in this novel, from love, friendship, trust even death and rape and you don't get to savor it because it all happens so fast without much thought. This felt like the shell for a manuscript, waiting to be edited and for some one to proof read. Because with so much lacking, grammatical errors were definitely not welcome!

Linc is a pansy. But you still love him. The only time the boy showed some backbones was when he pummeled dude and I guess that was unbridled rage. Hell, I'd be mad too if I were in the situation!
He is uber understanding to the point where I wanna shout at him that this chick is a wench and he gets the right to at least be pissed.

Still, his interesting personality gave this story a spin that's not normally in these books, as the MCs didn't have your usual drama or break up. It seems as the problems came, they rallied around each other and became a unit. There was literally no heart ache, just really bad and uneven karma if you ask me.

On that note, I introduce you to Gabby. Very selfish girl if you ask me who keeps messing with the wrong dudes and blame it on liquor. Honestly, the chick could just be a masochist. She is such a glutton for punishment it's unbelievable! Still, I guess she had her ways. It was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She was shy and timid sober and a total sex fiend who would screw anyone when drunk .. get some morals Gabby!

The other characters played their parts well I guess, but reading a book in fast forward kind of clouds your judgment as to their capabilities and making a bond with anyone in this book. I also found the whole lot of 2 weeks later or 1 month later annoying, because the book is already jumping the gun so can we please slow it all down!!!

I like Anna and Russ together and so I am contemplating over looking this big blunder to read book 2 but I am on the fence. I loved their build up and really hope for a good story there.

Still, the story was written in too fast a mode, the dialogues were barely par and the language at times was rolling on the floor laughing ... "Hello my children" ... really?!?! No one talks like that Mrs. Donaldson!

All in all, I think the story had a good premise, it was just executed poorly and needed someone to see that this story needed to hold the brakes and put it in 1st gear because were all over the place and before you know it, people were dying and all sorts of things were breaking loose!! It seems everything was happening except for a relationship between the two MCs. Eventually they got there, and then the book basically ended.

It was also pretty clear that we were only going to get a brief overview of everything as most of the important things if any, were elaborated upon. I think it is by coincidence that we found out one characters major and that was Gabby. We aren't even gonna broach the subject of the football matches cause we got nada! Not even a huddle!

For a book written from two people's POV, it was very much lacking in substance and depth. A good amount of editing and thought was needed in this novel and sorry, but it showed that is was lacking and for that this book was a disappointment, as I loved the story line and the angle from which the love interest was taken. It was good not to have the usual heart breaks and separation.

Really wanted more from this one!

Btw ... didn't really get an explanation of the title until the literal end of this book and it in no way tied in with this novel. There was never any temptation, just reluctance.

Let me start off by saying that I think the author has a good story idea. The way it was told, the immature characters, and the fact that the book desperately needs a good editor, well that just totally blew the execution of that good story idea.

The way this was written made for extremely choppy reading causing the story to not flow well at all. The way the characters act does not seem realistic. For example, as a dedicated runner-and an endurance runner at that-why in the world is Gabby written as a smoker? Regardless if she smoked less once in college, it is highly unlikely she would have been good enough in high school (where she apparently "smoked like a chimney"-not to mention drank and sometimes smoked joints) to win a scholarship with a habit that can impede your breathing like that. You don't hear much about them going to classes either.

As for needing an editor, punctuation is just all over the place and not used properly. Wrong words, missing words...simple things that should have been easily picked up by even the most basic editing were rampant throughout the book.

I gave it two stars-one since I was able to make it through the whole thing and the other for the fact the the story is a good idea-it's just the way the plot was carried out by the author with very juvenile writing that really takes away from what could be a good book. It honestly sounded like it was written by a high schooler.

I do have the second book in this series, though I'm on the fence about reading it. I want to since it focuses on two characters that I did like from this book, however if the writing and basic editing is like this one, I don't think I can get through another one.

I'm so with Gabby on this statement, "you don't know s***...You knew how much I liked him...you knew what this would do to me...and then I finally get my shot and you eff me again. So what to top it all off you're carrying his kid now too?" Linc that boy it's fun being inside his head haha, "oh sorry...I space out sometimes...comes from getting hit in the head too much playing football." Crap now she's gonna think I'm mentally challenged." Linc is so considerate as well, "okay well I want you to come train because if you lose that scholarship then we have to get another roommate and I like you being my roommate not some crazy girl so get your a** in gear. I'm sorry I'm a selfish ba***** okay?" Good lord Gabby girl you're gonna kill me or I should say Linc will, "just thinking about Linc's chest working out, sweating, the way his gym shorts hang on his hips and show his little light brown happy trail running down to...oh Jesus help me." Linc and Gabby have a good relationship they tease each other, "Gabby you play football with us, you train endlessly and a four ounce mouse scares you to the point you can't move?" Linc is protective of Gabby I love that in a man, "for your dumba** information, most girls don't like being treated like a side item and they don't like having their sex life spread around town. Especially from an a**hole like you, who treats someone like you treated her. If I wasn't really trying to be a nice guy right now, you'd be in a bed in ICU but, since I'm being a nice guy...Gabby and I are going to go get a soda and come back, when it's visiting time."

  • Chrys

What is it with shit head guys that think they are all that and take what they want and then act like a jackass?! What a piece of work Reece is and as for Elle, who needs enemies huh.
I applaud Donaldson for writing a female lead that acted on her feelings of anger instead of falling apart. I loved Gabby and her feisty nature.
After moving to college and her male room mates, Russ and Linc, spot her bending over as they walk into their dorm room. From that moment on Linc is a gonner.
I love his patience with Gabby and his tenderness and sensitivity to her feelings, so he keeps their relationship on a friendly level until she is ready to take things further.

I really enjoyed this book. Had me crying and even lol a lot! "Oh shit my dick...Baseball, icecream,Platoon, The Sound of Music...okay I'm better." I felt the book was a bit rushed and I wished it would've been longer cuz I loved the story! I am excited for the next book, I need more of their story as well as Anna and Russ.

  • Shaquala Dalambakis

Holy editing errors!!! I enjoyed the concept of this book and I like that the issues are relatable. I would have liked to read more about Linc and Gabbys relationship. The book seemed to focus more on the drama and the issues then the couple. Then the constant repeat of dialogue was annoying. No need to repeat a scene over and over to each individual person. I will not be reading the next book.

I LOVED THIS STORY!!!! It was such a great coming of age romance! I fell in love with Linc right away. It was just a great read and I am looking forward to the next book in this series! I read this book cover to cover in one setting!! Truly an enjoyable read!! I highly recommend this!!!

Okay reading this book just got me even more excited for Cade's book! I love S.M. Donaldson's writing! I highly recommend this series!

  • Scandalous Book Blog

Interesting, very interesting this one. I love the concept and idea behind the overall story.
Gabby got burnt by one of her supposed best friend and the guy she had a crush on all throughout high school. The humiliating events of her betrayal become town gossip so when the opportunity presents itself for her to leave shitville (that is how she refers to her home town) early to go to college, she jumps at the opportunity. And would you blame her?

Cade, her life long best friend and next door neighbor moves with her to attend the same college. I love Cade such an amazing friend. And did I tell you he was HOT a playboy but I see a very pretty girl in his near future that will tame the wild beast. *wink wink*

After arriving at the coed dorm she has three new roommates two of which happens to be boys Russ; crazy fun man whore (all he needs is a good women to keep him grounded).
Linc, good god Gabby is instantly attracted to him, however their is a small problem upon entering the dorm she learnt of drama that took place between other mixed roommates having relations with each other so they came up with the no dating a roommate policy.

Will they break the rules and cross the roommate agreement to act on their attraction?

Linc was played by his Ex-girlfriend and after that he is not interested in any form of relationship, he is jaded with serious trust issues. He moved with his cousin and best friend Russ on a football scholarships. When he meets Gabby something changed, he has never met anyone like her before and he just wants to spend time getting to know more about her.
"She thinks I'm shy, but I honestly find it hard to form words around her. I want her so bad that I am afraid if I say too much it's just going to Tumble out."~Linc

Gabby has an interview for a TA position with Hot Professor Jennings and she lands the job. She now has a new job New College she has a great group of new friends with Cade right by her side she is well on the road to being happy again but how long will that last?

I love that Linc was not some crazy man-whore its certainly a change form the norm, They both have an even plane filed to build something real but will they see what is right in front of their eyes before its too late.
One night after the gang from shitville visits Reece (the guy who treated her badly and humiliated her) says some pretty nasty things that she takes to heart and causes her to question what is building between her and Linc.
With confusion and mixed feelings about herself she runs into professor Jennings and they take things way beyond a professional line. She has completely messed up and this is not one she can easily walk away from.
It has also put a spanner in the work with things between her and Linc.
"Gab, I really like you. I mean I really like you...not just your body which is awesome...but you as a person. I would like to ask toy out on a date, but not right now..."~Linc

    The secondary characters are great.
Russ: Linc cousin and best friend is your typical man whore, he had a rough upbringing but he is a wonderful friend and an all round good funny guy. When Gabby's younger sister comes to visit, they have an instant connection and after she leaves they stay in contact.
Daria: She is Gabby, Russ and Linc roommate and a bit of a Mystery to be honest. She is in a relationship with Cade and I must say they are HOT together.
Cade: Gabby's life long best friend, typical Jock and an incredible friend. I love his relationship with Gabby he is protective of both her and Anna.
Anna: Gabby's younger sister. she might wear cardigans and pearls but I get the feeling that she is a tiger under it all.
All their stories developing in the background did not overshadow the main characters. They all added something to the story in their own way. This story is as much about true friendship as it is about Linc and Gabby finding their way to each other.

Their relationship develops slowly, and I like that Gabby has a few issues she needed to work through and Linc gave her that time to properly heal and you have to respect him for doing that.
Once they started a relationship its one that is built on a firm foundation
"Awe sweet Jesus, I didn't know it could be like this." ~Linc
Things between them gets HOT HOT HOT and heavy pretty fast.
"For me not to have been big on sex before. Jeez we cant't keep our hands to ourselves. We almost got caught in the laundry room of our building the other day. It's like I've found my own sexual Revolution."~Gabby

Overall the book is well written, with a good story line which I enjoyed. Its told from both Gabby and Linc POV. A very good start to a promising series

Gabby Lewis has pined after the same guy for forever. When he finally decides to give her the time of day, she makes a bad decision that could ruin her life, thanks to the prick running his mouth and her BFF, Elle, stabbing her in the back. Now she’s looking forward to early admission into college and getting away from all of the drama with her best guy friend, Cade, who she knows she can rely on. And no, this isn’t a story where the girl falls for her best friend…

Linc Addison is the perfect, gorgeous, all-American football guy. He’s starting college with his best friend and cousin, Russ, and things couldn’t be better. Since they’re staying in coed dorms and rooming with two girls, they make a pact not to date the roommates to avoid drama, but Linc is immediately regretting that promise when he walks in and lays eyes on Gabby.

Linc and Gabby’s friendship is easy and fast. It’s obvious they both like each other but since they made the pact, they can’t date. Instead, they spend any time they can together – running, working out, watching TV, any excuse works. How long can they last before the temptation proves too strong to deny? When more drama rolls into town and more bad decisions are made, will the “friendship” survive?

Lying with Temptation is a great start to the Temptation Series and I fell in love with all of the characters. Linc is hot and a true gentleman, and I especially love the fact that Gabby isn’t a girly-girl and has no problems keeping up with the boys. Russ quickly became my favorite, I can’t wait for his story.

  • Victoria Rainey

Lying With Temptation is the first book in the Temptations series by S. M. Donaldson. I read this series backwards. I started with the second book before jumping back to read the first book. I really like this series. This book gives you a really good look at Gabby and Linc.

Gabby is a typical all American girl, smart, pretty, and athletic. While she does not take any crap from anyone, she is loyal to her friends. This blows up in her face her senior year of high school. Therefore, she takes early admission to college, and begins to start a new life. Gabby is a strong person with an honest heart.

Linc Addison is a popular quarterback and star athlete. Linc and his best friend and Cousin Russ move into the same dorm room as Gabby. Linc is the ultimate boy next door. He is kind, sweet, and sexy wrapped up in one package.

The chemistry between Linc and Gabby is blistering hot. These two are made for each other. They spend a lot of time getting to know each other and I loved that they did not jump into bed together right way. They spend the time to form a solid foundation to their relationship.

This was a great start to this series. Overall, this was a great book that kept me on my toes all the way through. This book was filled with drama along with typical college life and people finding themselves. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

WHAT DID I THINK: 3 out of 5 Stars: Gabby is betrayed by her best friend before she goes away to college. There she meets and becomes roommates with Linc. Linc is hot and also the star quarterback at the college. However, Linc is different than most guys. He is actually quiet and has some reservations about having any relationship after his girlfriend in high school repeatedly cheated on him. However, neither Gabby nor Linc can help ignore how they feel for each other.

I really like these stories, but my disappointment was with Gabby. She kept making the same dumb decisions in this book. It was hard for me to connect to her. At some point, I felt like she would even mess up what she had with Linc.
Some of the dialogue needed to be smoothed out. Some of the verbize between the characters seemed awkward at times.

There was a nice story here. I saw the author’s intent. I think the author has a lot of potential. That is why I am excited to read the next book in the series.

A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

What an emotional rollercoster this book is!!! What Gabby goes through, throughout the book and how she comes out the other side is amazing. She kicks ass and doesnt let anyone mess with her or the people that she loves (kinda reminds me of me lol.....) perhaps this is why I could relate to her fiesty with a soft side character.

    Linc.... awwww
www..... hes a sweetheart :D He likes Gabby as soon as he sees her, her past doesnt phase him and he just takes her for the person she is.

I love how protective Cade is over her and Anna and I love the cheeky and fun relationship they all have with each other. It makes you want to be part of the gang!

I thought the book could of been longer with more of their love story in and about them at college and I felt the end was slightly rushed but other than that it was a cute easy read. I am glad we get to see more of the gang and I'm looking forward to reading Russ & Anna's story.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK. Gabby and Cade are best friends and Russ and Linc are cousins but also best friends and Linc, Russ, Gabby meet their new roommate Daria. Together they all become great friends. then Gabby falls for Linc and Cade falls for Daria and Russ falls for Gabby's younger sister Anna. Talk about all in the family. Lol. The story line is great. I cried my eyes out for Gabby when Elle her so called best friend stabbed her in the back. But Reese was the biggest ass ever! I think if I were Gabby I would have kicked his ass too. Lol. Even though this book isn't as sexually charged as I like my books, I would definitely recommend like book to everyone. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

In Lying with Temptation, we find out all about the Gabby Lewis and Linc Addison... They are college freshman. Gabby comes to college early with Cade... Gabby is living in a co ed dorm with Daria, Linc and Russ. Linc and Gabby have the hots for each other, but Gabby makes a mistake after being warned about a not so pleasant teacher! And Gabby's roommate, Daria, falls for Gabby's best friend Cade. Lots of drama and there is some sadness. :( Makes me want to make up with those that I don't have a good relationship with because you never know if tomorrow will come. We are introduced to Gabby's sister, Anna, who has the hots for Linc's cousin Russ. Also, he happens to be Gabby's roommate.

3.5 stars. This book had a lot of potential and I loved the storyline but when it was getting good at the end it was to rushed! It had to much fluff and not enough of action (not sex) in the end. It could have been so much more but still a good read.

First of all I want to thank S.M. Donaldson for my e-copy of Lying With Temptation! I so lo♥ed Gabby & Linc's story! I so couldn't put it down! I read it in one day! Can't wait to read Anna & Russ' story next!! =)

Can't finish the book. How the hell did this get such high ratings!!!?? The book had a good plot. The author couldn't get the flow worked out. I read the first 5 chapters and it's was like I was reading from a teenager's diary.
