Maci Price isn’t really into relationships. Having four very protective older brothers has always made having a boyfriend very difficult, anyway. But her friend is set on finding her the perfect guy – and thinks the mysterious Connor Green is the perfect pick.

He’s Her Brother’s Best Friend

Connor Green is trying to find himself again. He loved then lost and it’s time for him to pick up the pieces. His brooding is making his friends crazy, but, Maci Price, who has grown up into a gorgeous and incredibly sexy woman, is about to break the spell.

They’re Made for Each Other

When Maci starts up old pranks to get Connor out of his slump, an all out war leads to a night that will break all their rules, and a relationship they must keep hidden. Together they’re electric. Apart they’re safe. And soon they’ll find they’re exactly what the other needs.

We met Detective Connor Green in From Ashes. I know a lot of people didn’t love him, but I did. I was really excited to get this novella of his! I don’t think you have to read From Ashes to read this, but you would understand it better if you did.

Six months after Connor left Cassidy, and he’s still not the same. He’s changed and no one really knows why. Not many people know about Connors past. It’s not something he likes to talk about. Maci is Connors next door neighbor. She’s had a long time crush on him, but it’s never went anywhere. He is her brothers best friends and her brothers are something else! There are four of them and they make it near impossible for her to date. She’s noticed how ‘off’ Connor has been and she’s going to try to be the one to pull him out of it.

Connor and Maci had great chemistry. I loved the steam between them, but I also loved the playfulness. Even though there was a lot of serious stuff going on, the pranks and fun stuff lightened it up. Friends to lovers stories are some of my favorites. Connor being best friends with Maci’s over protective brothers made it that much better.

Written in dual pov, it was great to get into both Connor and Maci’s head. I love Connor, but I was pleasantly surprised with Maci. She was my favorite character of this novella. I loved her spunky and feisty attitude. This was an enjoyable read for me. I love how this author can mix the humor, sex, and plot together perfectly. And kudos to me! I made it thorough an entire Molly McAdams book without tears!

Conner Green, remember him? We met Conner in From Ashes, the detective that fell in love with Cassidy when she returned home to California after the fire. It’s been six months since Cassidy told him to go home, six months of working, nameless women and longing for the only girl he ever thought could understand him.

Maci Price has a problem. She’s never really been in a relationship. It’s not because she doesn’t attract the opposite sex, she does. But her four brothers won’t stop chasing them away. No one has ever stood up to them, no one has ever returned after they ‘had their brotherly talk’ with them.

Maci and Conner have known each other for ages, he’ best friends with Maci’s twin brothers and she’s been in love with him since she could remember. Now they live next door to each other. But Conner’s never seen Maci as anything other than the kid sister. When Maci decides to play a prank on Conner the competition is on, but all these games seem to be drawing Conner out of the darkness that has invaded his life over the last six months. As they continue their games, it ignites something in both of them that neither of them ever expected.

But Maci still has four brothers that won’t let a guy get close to her and Conner can’t let go of his fears for what his future could hold. He hasn’t shared his past with more than a few people and he is consumed with the nightmares that threaten to destroy any chance at ever having love in his life.

But now that he finally sees Maci for the desirable woman that she’s become, he can’t seem to stay away from her. Ready to battle her brothers and his fears to claim what his heart can no longer deny.

I can honestly say when I find a new Molly McAdams book has been released, that I am paralyzed with fear. I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from Taking Chances and I’ll never ever be able to trust that survival is an option when it comes to this author. But Needing Her was such a fantastic read. I had been so intrigued by Conner during From Ashes and had it not been for Gage I could have easily been content with the pairing of Conner & Cassidy.

I am a sucker for the girl falling in love with her brother’s best friend. Maci was likable as the heroine although she had her own insecurities that had wanting to slap some sense into her, especially where Bryce was concerned. Her brothers were a bit over the top to be taken seriously as well. But Conner’s personality in this, is one of my favorites of the broken hero types. He’s a jerk, he is caring, and then bam – he’s just down right cruel. There is something about this kind of damage that just does it for me. He runs hot and cold, but so intense.

Needing Her gives us a great dose of humor with some intense emotional issues that balances out the light and dark perfectly. I loved being able to get inside both their heads as we switch between points of view. I knew that Conner was going to be an intense character (once I remembered who the hell he was) and am so happy that he got his a story of his own.

Needing Her, by Molly McAdams, was absolutely fantastic! From the cover to the amazing characters within to the perfectly executed plot, I was hooked. With every new book released, I fall more and more in love with this author and the amazing stories that she so expertly delivers.

After meeting Connor in From Ashes, I knew that I wanted, and needed, his story. Even though his character was a secondary one, he commanded the page with his strong presence and need to protect. He completely fascinated me and I wanted more.

After growing up in an extremely abusive home, Connor is terrified that he will become like the man that abused him. His fear consumes him and he struggles everyday to cope. After losing, what he perceives as his one chance at happiness, he completely withdraws. Then his best friends little sister brightens his world, chasing away every single dark shadow with her beautiful light.

Maci has been in love with Connor for as long as she can remember, but he has never felt the same. Her brothers refuse to let her have a relationship with anyone, much less their friend. She wants the ability to live her life without having every single move she makes be scrutinized by her brothers. Their overprotectiveness is slowly suffocating her and she desperately needs to be seen as a person, not just their little sister. When Connor finally sees her as something other than ‘Mini’, he changes her entire world.

I absolutely adored Connor and Maci together! Their pranks, their banter and the love that shown between them, were endearing and completely realistic. Maci had a fiery independent personality that had me girl crushing on her within seconds of being introduced. Connor was just 100% pure yummy alpha male whose badassness roared off the page and straight into my heart. And don’t even get me started on her brothers! Even though they could be complete jerks, I was definitely intrigued by them and would love to have their stories, especially the twins ;)

Overall, if you are a fan of Molly McAdams work, Needing Her is a must read. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Ms. McAdams work, what the hell are you waiting for? Her books are absolute MUST READS! Ask no further questions, just purchase them immediately because I promise, you will not be disappointed. Hands down, she is my favorite new go to author and I devour every single thing she writes. Her writing is perfection wrapped up in a case full of tissues. Her stories are real, they are extremely emotional and they will stay with you long after the last word has been read.

I feel like I need to clarify something before really starting this review, the description of this one may say that it is a novella but really it reads like a book, it is at over 300 pages, a book.

Everything is fleshed out and well written and while part of a series, completely a story all it's own. In fact, confession time. I read this completely out of order and I don't regret it at all. In fact, I love Connor and Maci and am so glad I read their story when I did.

I love that this was done in dual point of views. I seriously am loving that in this genre because it adds so much depth to the characters, to their thoughts and feelings and just to the story in general.

Molly McAdams is a fantastic author, and while all her stories might not have a happily ever after ending, they are all fantastically written, hard to put down and have characters that you come to care about and feel something for, whether that be love or contempt, she knows how to bring about the emotions in a story, in a reader, and she does it well.

I adored both Maci and Connor and this story as a whole. It made me smile, laugh, sigh, get teary eyed and it made me fall in love with it.

I want more with the whole Price bunch and I am really looking forward to reading more about them all. Even though this was a long novella, I truly wasn't ready for it to be over.

4.5 Stars. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this novella about Connor and Maci.

We first met Connor in From Ashes and this book starts 6 months after he left Cassidy in Texas. Maci is his best friends sister and next door neighbour and they are constantly playing pranks on each other which makes for some really funny scenes.

This was a great friends to lovers story.

Really liked this one by Molly! I didn't care of Connor in FROM ASHES but loved him on this one!

The book was good , nothing earth shattering . I would have rated it better if it was a novel rather than a novella as we get a characters' entire story here , not just a part . And the ending feels a bit like this ....

    description

And what was it with those ridiculous brothers ? Now I don't really have brothers to compare but I know guys can be over protective . But literally punching a guy who even so much as decides to have a date with your 21 year old sister ??

    description

They didn't even seem like actual characters , just huge hunk of guys bullying their sister and throwing their weight around most of the time . I mean , I can understand one , but you mean yo tell me that NOT ONE out of the FOUR brothers was mature ?

    description

Now we get to the actual main characters . I liked how Connor came to notice Maci and liked her . What I did not understand was what the hell did he see in Cassidy ?? Sure , she understood him like no one could which I know is a big thing for him , but how is it possible that you barely spend couple weeks with someone and then just up and decide to marry her ? How does a detective, who's job includes observing people , not notice how shallow she was ? And why would a strong guy who has gone through so much already be in a sort of depression for 6 MONTHS for a girl he knew for ONLY TWO WEEKS??

    description

I have NOT read the previous book , thanks to the awesome reviews { #notesarcasm } but I did read the spoilers so as to have a base for this book and I had the privilege of knowing what a bitch Cassidy was. So ...yeah .

For the novella , the plot progression was pretty good . Characters were well fleshed out and the book was in no means rushed , except for the abrupt ending .

Except the few problems mentioned above , the book was enjoyable . So do give it a try , especially if you liked the previous book .

Back when New Adult was still a twinkle in most people's eyes and the majority of the world had not yet heard of it, except book bloggers of course. Molly McAdams was one of the first New Adult authors that I had discovered, and I fell in love with her work, and to this day, I still support her books. In her book From Ashes, we met Cassidy who had gotten a black eye from her boyfriend at the time and Detective Connor Green was called to the scene, and the two got pretty cozy. Of course, we know that Cassidy ended up with Gage and went off to live their belated HEA. Did you ever wonder what happened to Detective Connor Green? Needing Her by Molly McAdams is his story. After the incident and Cassidy moving away, Connor went into a zombie-like stage and moved back home and ended up next-door neighbors with his best friend's younger sister. Maci Price hasn't had much experience in the dating world even though she is in her early 20's. That's what you get though for having four older brothers and a Dad and no female role-model in her life. During the book, though, we see that Maci and Connor are two people who love pranks and set out each day trying to outsmart the other. While this is happening, the pair starts spending more time together and of course you can guess what's going to happen. Can the couple though keep it a secret from Maci's brothers as she knows it will be short-lived and ruined if they find out? What will happen though when Connor decides to prove to Maci's family that he loves her? Will it backfire or will the head of the Price family stand up for his little girl? Though Needing Her is considered a Novella, I will warn you that this is, in fact, a full-length size book at over 250+ pages. I have to admit; I was quite surprised at the length of the book especially after reading the words "novella."
Needing Her is the perfect read for fans of Molly McAdams's stories and those who have ever wondered what happened to Detective Connor Green after Cassidy left?

Hmm... I might have rated this higher if not for the annoying twins.
    And Maci sometimes.
    And Connor sometimes.

After reading From Ashes I was really intrigued with Detective Connor Green so it was great to get his story.

Connor lives across the hall from Maci Price, she is the little sister of his best friends. They love playing pranks on each other and they really take it to the extreme at times.

Maci has always had a crush on Connor and now that she is older, she wishes he would see her as the grown up young woman she has become.

Connor has noticed but he knows he just can't go there and is very protective of her.

Maci has had a f*ck buddy now a while now and Connor has no shortage of girls in his life either.

The attraction between these two is slowly becoming too hard to resist and they eventually give in to it and they are damn hot together.

Can they really be together though, will her very over-protective brothers accept it?

What about Connor's past, will he ever share it with Maci?

I really enjoyed this sweet novella :)

I think Molly McAdams can write the phone book and it would be amazing. I loved this book. Some people are calling it a novella but it is a book. I didn't like Connor in From Ashes because I was team Gage and didn't want anyone to come between Gage and Cassidy. But I did love him in this book. The banter and the pranks they pull on one another are hysterical. Maci is a tough cookie but she lets her four older brother interfer in her love life too much. Conner is two of her brothers' best friend and she knows this relationship is not going to be easy. Can they make it with his past that is preventing him from a real realtionship and from her over protective brothers. HEA!! loved it! Was wondering since we have so many other characters, four brothers and Amber, Maci's best friend are we going to get some sequels...would love it!! Great Job Molly!!

  • alyssa

So I had a love and hate relationship with Connor until I finished Needing Her. My goodness I loved this damn story! Seriously Molly's writing is just perfect. I loved Maci's character. Her and Rachel are in competition to who is my favorite Molly female character! Needing Her got my missing Gage and Cassidy, I feel a reread coming soon!

    More Like 2.5

Even though I had a few misgivings after seeing the cover for my Blind Date With A Book pick Needing Her by Molly Mcadams I was excited to read it.
Maci Price doesn’t really do relationships. Having four older brothers has cured her of that desire considering they have that whole intimidate potential boyfriends thing down pat. That, however does not stop her from lusting after her twin brothers best friend, Connor Green. Feelings that he finds himself reciprocating wholeheartedly. Their idea of fore play? Playing outrageous pranks on each other. Soon they give in to their feelings and embark on a relationship. One- or should I say four things in their way? Maci’s brothers. Soon they will have to decide is their relationship worth the risk.
I was a bit disappointed because based on the mention of pranks in the synopsis I was expecting some LOL moments and I just didn’t have any 😞. I also wasn’t a fan of Maci, she came across as very immature. I’m glad I gave the book a chance though.

  • Jacquellyn

This was pretty perfect for the type of book it is. Loved the boy next door/brothers best friend dynamic. Just the right amount of push and pull. Just the right amount of drama without making me roll my eyes.

It was ok, but I wasn’t impressed. Connor was an ok hero but I wasn’t really feeling Maci. I thought she was immature.

Needing her by Molly McAdams is a William Morrow Impulse publication. I was provided a copy of the his book in exchange for an honest review.

Maci has some super overprotective brothers who have a tendency to scare off any potential boyfriends. But, the truth is Maci hasn't really cared all that much until now. She has been in love with a good friend of her brothers named Connor. ( Some of you may know Connor from a previous installment in this series) Conner is going a through a really hard time as he recovers from a relationship that didn't quite work out in his favor. Maci is spending time with Bryce who is more of a friend with benefits type guy. The relationship is obviously going nowhere and so Maci's friend Amber thinks it's time to shake things up a little.
Connor had a really difficult life growing up and and is beset by many fears because of it. Maci has put up a wall around herself so that she behaves as though she is tough and doesn't care, but of course she is much softer than she puts on.
The story is told in dual first person, so you get Connor's point and then Maci's. I was not sure if this was New Adult or Contemporary Romance, so I am going out on a limb and say this story will appeal to lovers of both genres, perhaps more so for the New Adult audience.

I liked this one, but the situation with the brothers was a little ridiculous and Maci should have set the record straight with them long ago. Once you are an adult your brothers shouldn't get a say in who you date. That was perhaps the part I had the most trouble with. That and Maci allowing them to control her love life without so much as making a peep. So, I had some issues with the characters in this one. I liked Connor and understood his reluctance to push the issue with Maci due to his background. Overall this is not a bad story, but it's not a book I would re-read or gushingly recommend to others. I think it appeals to a certain audience but it didn't overwhelm me. So, I'm going with a 3 on this one.

  • Maryna aka Ryna

I really loved this book. It was sweet and romantic and fun with all the pranks and stuff.

I loved this this book so much and I am so happy that Conner found love again. Marci brought out the best and worst out of Conner. He was living in a numb life after he lost Cassidy and he thought he will never have happy life again. After one night where Marci played a prank on him he started to get feeling back into him even if it was anger. Later he did not understand his feelings for her because he knows he can’t date her because her 4 older brothers will kill him or keep them apart. I really got over the moon that he chose to start dating her even if he knew that her brothers might stop them. They make each other really happy.

The day he got the courage to tell his two best friends (who happen to be her brothers) about it they both told him to break up with her if he knows what’s good for him. He told them he will be with her even if they don’t like it; they brought up his past against him. That day he broke up with her because he is scared that he might hurt her one day. She was hurt and miserable after that but thank goodness he came to his senses after he thought he nearly lost her by her ex “boyfriend” He told everyone in her family about his past to explain why he broke up with her and why he lied to her, how his two best friends used that against him. Her father was really angry at those to and at least they got together again and this book was a real refreshing book. This is was a real nice novella to read and I would recommend it to everyone to read.

This is gonna be a very short review. I've ever read one of Molly's books Taking Chances and was left quite like the book. So I felt so much enthusiastic to read another book of hers. Then I found Needing Her. I should have known that this book is a novella and should've read From Ashes (book #1) first. Well, to be honest, I'm not a fan of Needing Her, not sure about From Ashes though.

Maci Price finds herself so difficult to get into a real relationship while she lives among her four insanely protective brothers. Unfortunately, she might have fallen for her annoying yet charming neighbor Connor Green, who is known as a detective and her brothers' best friend as well. Problems are Maci's brothers would never allow her to date him and Connor is too afraid to love her because of his dark past.

    "We drive each other crazy."
"I like our kind of crazy."
    "We're always fighting."
"As long as it's you I'm fighting with."

The heroine cursed too much my ears hurt. I get that she was raised among protective brothers who cursed a lot but that doesn't necessarily means she should use the same language as they are. The storyline was okay. But the problem is I couldn't connect with any of the characters. None of them were catching my attention, neither the main characters nor the supporting characters. Good thing is I didn't do skimming, I actually read it.

"If you wanna change, then change. But do it because it's what you want for you and your life, not because other people have made you feel like you need to."

  • Eileen (Bangor Belles) Robinson

I loved this book. Molly McAdams has a way of writing that really draws out your emotions. It took me a little while to realise the Connor in this book was the young cop who tried to help Cassidy (Cassie) from another novel by Molly McAdams called From Ashes.
In this book we meet a depressed Connor 6 months after Cassie has gone back to her boyfriend Gage.
Maci is Connors neighbour, best friend of her brothers and her childhood friend. It's durin this time that Connor starts to re-evaluate and see Maci in a different light.
Maci's over protective and hugely alpha brothers have never let her have boyfriends nor let relationships develop, although unknown to them she has a boyfriend (Bryce)
Connor is delighted when Bryce is dumped, and when him and Maci finally get together the fireworks and chemistry explode!!!! Even knowing the outcome of her brothers finding out, they still want to make it work.
I really enjoyed the twists and turn in this story, Connor was hot sexy and did i say HOT AND DELISH!!!!
This story is a page turner you just won't want to stop reading till you find out what happens... so i won't spoil it and tell you !!! But you will be sorry if you don't read it !
I LOVE LOVE LOVED IT !!

All novellas should look at Needing Her and learn because it was the best damn novella I have ever read.

It was perfection, not only did it give a complete story it wasn't repetitive plus it introduced all the new characters in a fast and easy way without too much excess information. Molly Mcadams you've done it again!

Anyone who has any doubts about reading this because they didn't like Connor in From Ashes should just throw them out the window because it didn't even matter, he was completely different in Needing Her and we get to see things from his point of view which makes him more like-able.

Not to mention Maci is such a kick butt I-dont-take-crap-from-no-one protagonist that she's instantly loveable. While I was reading it I had such a happy feeling in my stomach the whole time and it was just like
