So I was downloading books I had on my kindle onto the laptop and you know how after it's downloaded it pops up to the first page. Well, when you see a line like this "It really is just a giant penis, isn't it?" for the first sentence you tend to get a bit curious.

After reading that line I didn’t dive right into it (knowing there was a sex scene in it I really didn't want to read it in my living room with my family sitting out there too haha) so I did a bit of research by going to good ole' Goodreads. I reread the summary and this got me more interested. So with that line, the summary, and the steamy cover I decide to just go for it. Lately I've been feeling like I have been in a slump so I said whatever to that slump, I mean it’s a short story, maybe it can help.

And you guys, it totally helped out my slump. I was hooked from the beginning and I so didn’t want to put down my tablet. But since I started it right before I had to take my sibs to their dentist I had to. I was so sadden. I was in the action and I was dying to know what was going to happen next. But I had to restrain myself cause there was no way I would read this in public, especially with my sibs sitting right next to me in the waiting room that short period of time. So you ladies who are comfortable with reading erotic stories out there in public, you guys are so brave and can be looked at as hero’s for having the courage to do that.

Anyways, so I read a review and they said that this isn't a real erotic so I took the time to look up what it means. I know what it means but I wanted to see what the true meaning they have for it in the dictionary. "Of concerning, or arousing sexual desire or giving sexual pleasure" and it just did that.

Look, I don't read much erotic so if I offend you in any way I'm sorry but these are just my opinions. Erotic stories don't need a certain amount of sex scenes to make it an erotic. It just really needs one passionate one that'll make you melt. So if you're looking for a book that's all about the sex and not the story, then look away. But if you want one hot scene that flows within the storyline, then pick this short story up.

This story is written beautifully with a deep passion in the words. It'll consume you and you won't want it to ever end. Yes, at some moments it might feel fast but it’s a short story. But even then it was able to tell a story, a great story. We were able to see and learn about these characters. We were able to fall for them and when that passion finally got to come forth, it was just the cherry on top for me. So thank you Sophia, for writing that first sentence cause without I wouldn't have been able to fall into this magical world so soon.

    Sweet Readings!

Sophia Jones has done it again! A spunky, intelligent (if a bit frustrated) museum curator on an excursion in Egypt runs into smokin' hot ancient god incarnate, Ra. Fate brings them together, but an old enemy threatens to tear them apart.

This shorty packs one hell of a punch. With her trademark humor (gotta love a deliciously snarky villain), fast-paced plot, and swoon/fan worthy romance, Ms. Sophia delivers!

    Can't wait for more!

The Pharaoh and the Curator is a wonderful story about the Sun God and his mate and their struggles to find each other. Weaved with suspense and sexual tension, the book was a page turner for me. Sophia did a great job of pulling me in to the story and keeping me there.

Set an Egypt. A Sun God, his mate. Need I say more? It's a fabulous smutty short tale sure to appeal to most paranormal romance fans.

The Pharaoh and The Curator by Sophia Jones

Okay I really enjoyed this Paranormal Erotic Short by author Sophia Jones!!! This is her second shorty and you can really tell that she enjoys writing. This story had humor, sex, passion, creativity, and it all came together quite nicely. I was left wanting M-O-R-E!

Starts out with Michelle and her partner Seth working on site in Cairo, both are curators from a museum in Boston, MA. The opening line of the book, had me rolling, LOL.. I knew immediately I loved this author, she's my kind of people. Ha Ha.. They're working on getting a 60foot tall Obelisk raised using only the tools that the ancient Egyptians would have had available to them at the time.

After they had it raised and all the Hoorays are going on / people applauding each other for this great feat they accomplished, she notices a man appear. A delicious, bronzed skin man... Wearing Leopard Print LOL. Again, I died laughing at Michelle's reaction to this sight. She thinks that the sun has gotten the best of her and doesn't trust herself that this beautiful man is actually standing there, so she turns the head of her colleague to prove she's not crazy. He confirms that there is indeed a man standing there, so after this discovery she breathes easy knowing she won't be sleeping in a white padded room later. Then the giant Obelisk starts to fall over... Right in the direction of where the mystery man is standing. Michelle wastes no time getting to him and knocking him out of the way. She saves him by just a few mere feet from being pummeled down into the sand like a hammer to a nail. But after that's all said and done things take a turn for the worst......

Although I would love to keep going with my thoughts of what's going to happen and how it will all be resolved.... I won't. Without wanting to “Reveal” too much more, I will stop here.

But I really have to hand it to Sophia, this story was just really cute. I love, love, loooooved the attitude the lead female Michelle had in the book. Her humor with a flare of snark was great and I can identify myself with her :) .

Some of you by now know that I am completely obsessed with Ancient Egypt mythology. I was ecstatic when a copy of this story was offered to me. Of all the day dreams I’ve ever fantasized of the Ancient Egyptian times with all its art, artifacts, Gods, and architecture, I never once imagined such an exotic and risqué passion of the Gods of those times. Which made this read all the more pleasurable for me.

This is a short story set in Modern day Egypt, Michelle Beaumont works as a curator and has an undying love for Ancient Egypt, and it’s no coincidence. After a thrilling chain of events, she learns that she is not exactly who she thought to be. She is one part of a God’s soul (ka). The one and only, leopard skin bearing, Ra.
The Egyptian Son God is resurrected as Michelle and her team finishes repairs on an ancient and damaged Obelisk. Michelle feels the undeniable and magnetic pull instantly. This is the man of her dreams…literally. More importantly, Michelle learns this encounter with Ra isn’t the first time they’ve been united.

*Cue’s suspenseful music* Read to find out!
(Oh, now come on guys. You know I don’t like spoiling! And this is definitely worth every page to find out for yourself!)

But just as quick as Ra appears below the newly repaired Obelisk, danger is in their sights and to Michelle’s disbelief, the person who is destined to jeopardize Ra’s and Michelle’s relationship, was under her nose all for the last two decades. Will they ever escape the vicious cycle of their perpetual curse?

There is one naughty scene, where the awakening of Michelle’s long lost powers return to her, and man, it was sun-sizzling hot and naughty!
Sophia Jones is absolutely brilliant! The story was riveting, witty and surprisingly hilarious but most notably, a profound sentimental value of undying love. The awesome thing about this book, it has all the key elements to keep the reader on the edge of their seat; mystery, thrill, romance, comical dialogue, and exotic location! My geeky heart is a happy one today.

I quite enjoyed this short story, though it could have easily been a full length novel, and I found myself wishing it had been, so that I would have had more time to relish the well-developed plot and characters. It was a sexy little read with a hot male lead. I do wish the love scene had played out a bit longer, though it was well done for being a short story. All in all, it had quite an interesting concept. Perhaps the author will consider expanding this tantalizing little story into something longer to savour. I would say that for a debut author, Sophie Jones is well on her way!

The Pharaoh and the Curator is for people who like...

    ...fated love.
...sexy shenanigans in the great outdoors.
    ...dudes wearing loincloths.
...a sweet romance with a side of naughty.

Short and definitely sweet, this story takes the idea of starcrossed love and runs with it. Throw in a side of evil and call it a day! *thumbs up*

I love everything about this short story. Its unusual and very interesting premise, sexy, strong and believable characters, and the author's exquisite writing. What more can you want? More of the same, of course, and so I intend to read every book in the Paranormal Erotic Tale series.

I thought that this was an easy and steamy read with some adventure thrown in. I love Egyptian mythology and this really resonated with me. My only complaint is that I felt it could have been longer. But can’t that be said about any good story?

  • Lucy Dosch (EBookObsessed)

This was a quick ready at only 30 pages, but the story was enjoyable and well written.

For a short story this one packed a lot into a short time. Really enjoyed it.

Given the subject matter, and all of the glowing reviews on this one, I really wanted to like it. I went into it expecting and hoping to read one of those short story gems that makes you marvel at how much the author accomplished in very few pages. Unfortunately, I was kind of disappointed with what I found, for everything moved so fast in the story that I never really got to know any of the characters or get any real sense of why I should care about them.

Ra especially is mostly a stick figure here in my opinion, for we don't get much sense of what he's like as a person, what his personality is like, other than that he's totally enamored with the heroine. Michelle is supposed to be a scholar, and we're given to understand that she's apparently quite intelligent, but despite that she barely even questions what's going on and just more or less accepts what she's told when some guy shows up out of nowhere claiming to be the god Ra and her mate. There's some lip service paid to her being skeptical and thinking he's a nutcase, but still, she saves him, more than once, and then is doing the nasty with him at the first good opportunity. The antagonist was especially weak I thought, for he establishes his complete hostility toward the couple with a hatred that's gone on for centuries, and a long explanation of why he hates them so much is given, but then within the space of a paragraph or two all is made well and everyone gets an HEA.

Despite how negative this review sounds, however, I did like this story, just not as much as I'd hoped to. I thought it was a good concept but it fell victim to the short length. The author could have easily expanded upon this a great deal, given us more time to get to know the characters and to come to care about what happens to them. That was the main thing that I felt was missing here was the characterization. If that had been given more space in which to develop, I think some of what happens at the end would have more impact, though I also think the main confrontation scene could have been drawn out more to heighten the tension and to make us appreciate the HEAs more when they come.

This was a good effort, and the writing is good, I just wish the author had given her story more time to develop and play out. I think the sex scenes could have been added to and spiced up more as well, for the heat level in the story doesn't really live up to the super-sexy cover image. I'll give this one three stars, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent quick romantic read, so long as you're not looking for a great deal of depth.

This came to my attention as a recommended freebie a few weeks ago. I picked it up and, as I could not download my current read to my Android, decided to read it today. It wasn't bad, but it confirmed the reason I stay away of paranormal: it's not my thing and I found it utterly stupid.
I rather not give it a rating as I know I'm not being impartial and I don't want to put a bad rap on something other people appreciate just because I don't like it.

  • Djg

I'm baffled by the 5 star reviews. It was mildly entertaining but not satisfying and is not erotic at all.
