Impassion (Mystic, #2) Reviews

The continuation of a series I love. We learn more about Layla and she learns more about herself. And Quin. I. Love. Quin. I also just had the opportunity to read an ARC of book three and believe it or not, Quin is even hotter. Hello, my Alpha male.

I'd hoped I'd like this better than the first book. In some ways, yes. But mostly, no.

I find Layla to be naive and whiny. Where's the strength of character?

Where is the tension in the story? Layla doesn't know what her strengths are yet as a twice bonded child and neither does the reader. Heck, Neither does Agro, the "bad guy" in all this that hasn't necessarily shown how ruthless he might really be. He doesn't know why he wants her. He doesn't know her powers. He just assumes that as the child of a bonded couple, she will have these super powers. Finley is introduced to create a possible love triangle? Or secondary bad guy?

The story just moseys its way along, really going nowhere. It's not much as far as a romance. It's not much as a paranormal tale. It's lightweight. If that's what you're in the mood for, it might fit your taste. I just find it unsatisfying.

wow, just wow, I absolutely loved this second book in the mystic series, I thought the first book (descension) was really good but impassion just blew me away.
You start to see the love Layla and Quin feel for each other, ( which was beautiful) the trials they face and the baddies that make thereselfs known. Argos being one and a stranger who you wander who he is. I think i had everyone as the stranger through out the book lol. Once again we have no idea who he is and have to wait for book 3, which i cant wait for. The emotion in this book is high. It emotionally drained me big time. I cried when Layla met her family for the first time, I cried when she realised Quin wasnt as perfect as she thought and I cried when she went to her parents memorial, basically I cried through the whole book, haha. B.C.Burgess is an amazing new author that brings emotion and true depth to her characters. You are mentally pulled in to this book and find it hard to get back out. I carried this book with me for days after I finished it.
For a new author the writing and editing was faultless which is hard to find in books, especially a first and second book. The story just flowed.
B.C.Burgess is now one of my favourite new authors. BUY IMPASSION NOW! you wont regret it. Make sure you buy descension first tho, to get the background to the story (also a fantastic book) Defo worth the 5 stars and more.

So many thoughts about Impassion. Though I did enjoy the plot, some things, certain conversations, I found really had no relevance to the story. I did enjoy reading Impassion. The support characters were amazing, I just loved everyone of them. I really wish I had a family like this one. I want to jump into the book and hug them all. There is only one complaint I really have about Impassion. And that is Quin. What happened to the honest, easy going nice guy. When did he all of a sudden turn into a playboy hiding secrets? Sure I understand that there had to be some kind of character conflict, but to change his character or what I was lead to believed of him, just wow. I am still speechless about it. I mean she only gets mad at him for a whole 24 hours then forgives him. Meh I would of made him work for it ;(

First off we have Layla. I was hoping that she would develop a little bit more in Impassion but she didn't, not really. Magically she did. But emotionally she didn't. Though because the 2 books take place over the period of about a week you can't really expect much character growth. She is still the innocent girl who is hurt by her families devastation, and of course certain secrets she learns in Impassion. Mind you her first outburst in response to the those secrets had me a little shocked. You go girl! I did enjoy reading her advancement with her magic. She is coming a long way fast. I am sure in the third part she will become one powerhouse to reckoned with. Honestly I believe Layla has a lot of potential, but I think she needs some time to discover it without Quin. As much as I still like Quin, I find he is a little too protective/possessive with Layla to give her a chance to spread her wings.

Quin, what happened to you? I loved Quin in the first part of the series, but in Impassion not so much. Sure there is still the same nice guy qualities I fell in love with but now all of a sudden he is a playboy who really makes the rounds. I will admit I figured he had been with other girls but not the magnitude that is suggested in Impassion. Don't get me wrong, I love a bad boy, but it should be stated in book one not book two. All I am left feeling at the end of Impassion is that Layla should take Quin's suggestion. Which I found surprising that he even suggested it. God, he couldn't even handle her being near another guy for a few minutes. LOL, good way to dig your own grave Quin. Hehe, guess we know what kind of drama we might encounter in the third installment of the Mystic series. Anyway enough harping on Quin, hopefully in the next part he fully redeems himself. *Shakes head at Quin*

Now plot wise I did enjoy the book. Like I said if Quin was this guy from the get go I would not be so annoyed by it. Impassion was a good read, filled with some very sizzling sexy scenes, love and magical mayhem. I did enjoy getting to see more of Agro and what he and his minions are up to. I can't wait to see what his actual plans for Layla are. It should be interesting. The chemistry between Quin and Layla is heating up and I look forward to reading more sexiness in the third part. Overall I would recommend Impassion to an older audience. Though yes it is rather tame compared to other adult romance it still has content I would not recommend to younger readers.

Book provided by the author for an honest review.

I left this review over on Amazon but I couldn't help but to put it here as well! I loved this book!!

B.C. Burgess has done it again. She strapped me in for an invigorating roller coaster ride, the emotional highs and lows believably authentic. In Descension, the plethora of emotions Rose, Aedan, and their covens dealt with hit my heart with such force that I had to constantly remind myself that I wasn't actually experiencing/enduring the things they were.
The same can be said about Impassion. I found myself anxious along with Layla at times and when her family showered her love and acceptance, I couldn't help but smile (I'm sure many of the people around me wondered why the heck I was grinning ear to ear so much, that I cared).
Burgess has a unique talent--creating vivid images with her superb diction. She has an eye for beauty, this made evident through the world in which the wizards, witches and hexless live--whether it's the houses, fields, plants or people. Every once in a while I found myself closing my eyes, imagining running my fingers through some flowers or peering over cliffs and whatnot.

Layla Love and Quin's relationship is one we all yearn to have. I for one love to see that relationship flourish throughout the story, despites the obstacles they and their coven encounter. It shows just how strong the bonds of love can be, just how little can stand up to that love once it is established.

One other thing: Alana. Need I say more? She is so adorably cute! I loved her! Quite a few times I found myself wishing that
I could reach into Impassion and snatch her out. I would be honored to be related to such a delightful little witch. Brietta and Sky are awesome too.

Impassion was an amazing read. When I reached the last page, I was both satisfied and disappointed. I had such a great time with Layla, Quin and the entire clan, but once I realized our time was up, I couldn't help but be hungry for more. I can't wait for the next installment!

Burgess effortlessly and gracefully slipped her way into my top 5 favorite authors and is now top Author to Watch For. If you haven't read Descension or Impassion, I only have one question: What are you waiting for?! You are definitely missing out. Check her out, that is unless you prefer not having books you want to get lost in and never be found.

FANTASTIC BOOK!!! I loved this book! I literally could not put it down.i stayed awake late into the night just to find out what would happen next.which is huge for me to give up sleep for a book since my daughter wakes up at 5am like clockwork.well worth it. The storyline is compelling, the love story is beautiful and it keeps you on your toes. I love the way burgess lets you get to know the characters without rushing you through it and because of this you feel all the emotions with those characters.
i laughed and cried and cheered them on....oR not at times.lol the only part that sinks is that I now need to wait to find out what happens next...I'm sure out will be worth the wait as impassion
was. Burgess is definitely on my list of authors whose books I will always read and whose career I will follow.would recommend this book!

I absolutely loved this follow up to Descension. It had adventure, passion, romance, love and of course lots of magic! B.C. Burgess creates a wonderful story. I love her writing in that she finds different ways to describe the average thing/event. I would say it's eloquent. I like how the wizards speak act and handle themselves. I truly feel like I'm looking in our their world and it's so colorful and beautiful. I cannot wait for the next book.

  • Susan

damn this series is good, the age old good versus evil but in the world of witches and wizards there is one shining light. Cant wait to finish the next book.

  • Romancerwblog

First things first, if you have not read Descension do not read any more of this review. It will contain spoilers from the first book and we do not want to ruin any of this fantastic series for anyone! Impassion begins the day after Descension ends. There is no lag time, which we love. That means we never miss a moment of Layla’s journey. You have been warned.

Impassion begins with Layla struggling to come to grips with the deaths of her parents. Due to the dramatic way she learned of her own birth and subsequently her parent’s death, it was as if she were actually watching it happen in real time. It is hard for her to not blame herself and move past this horrible event that took place over 21 years ago. On the other hand, she now knows and understands how great her parents’ love for her truly was…they made the ultimate sacrifice and died to protect her. Armed with that knowledge, Layla vows to always appreciate things around her, no matter how small and live life to the fullest with no regrets.

We are also learn more about the other members of the coven, including Layla’s grandparents. With the knowledge of her being a double bonded witch, she is now in more danger than ever. As Layla begins to delve more into the magical world, it becomes evident that her magical abilities are second to none. With training and time, she is on her way to becoming the most powerful witch around. Now that Layla’s eyes are open to her true identity, she is even more scared for her family.

Argo is out searching high and low in Idaho, Oregon and surrounding areas. He uses everything possible in hopes of capturing Layla. He feels utter embarrassement because Aadean, Layla’s father, tricked him into believing that Layla never existed. This is a huge blow to his ego and now that he knows she has been living in the shadows in Oklahoma for 21 years his fury knows no bounds. He will let nothing stand in his way of retrieving what he believes is rightfully his. He knows that once Layla is trained in magic she would be his most powerful weapon in the Unforgivables army. Will he succeed in locating Layla and forcing his plans on her? Or will a mysterious stranger beat Argo to Layla and force her into his own evil scheme? Which one is the greater evil?

Quin and Layla have a powerful attraction that is undeniable by both of them. Each moment they are together, their desire for one another as well as their friendship grows. Layla struggles with Quin’s playboy past, her greatest fear, being history repeating itself like it affected her parents. In addition to these fears, a new wizard, Finley arrives on the scene causing trouble for this budding romance. It seems like he is attracted to Layla in a sick stalker way. He challenges Quin’s every word and really gets under your skin.

If it is even possible, we love these characters more than we did in the first book. Quin makes us melt every time he speaks to Layla. We love that Layla finally has found a family and is experiencing happiness for the first time in many years. She never fails to surprise us with her selflessness. It is such a great love story that not only encompasses romance but the family ties that bond us all.

LAWD!! I’m dying! LOL first lemme tell you guys this, there isn’t ONE bad review of this book and mine is going to follow! So the author so sweetly asked me if I’d like a copy and I had to dive on that opportunity. The first book had me a slobbering sobbing mess. This book gave me a list of emotions! Happy, sad, giggly, anger, I mean, it’s crazy but awesome! The story picks up immediately from the end of the first book and doesn’t miss a beat. And there’s new characters and a new bad guy, plus the old bad guy…. And lemme say, at the beginning, the “almost” sex scene… HOTTEST no sex EVER!!! I really need to get me a Quin! Hahahahaha

I like Layla. She’s literally a mess right now, but if I were her, I wouldn’t have made it this far! After learning so many devastating revalations of secrets, I’m thinking she’s handling herself pretty darn good. I also like that even though she isn’t sure, she’s shy, easily embarrassed and doesn’t always understand, she’s willing to do whatever to try to help others. I smiled the whole time she met her grandparents. I love her interactions with Quin. And I’m glad to see her old friends from the diner. I have a feeling her story is Gunna be epic.

I still love Quin. I’m not sure I agree with all of his choices-LOL- but he’s a man, and who understands how their brains work hahahaha! Hell, I don’t think THEY even understand how their brains work I really like that he tries his hardest to make Layla happy and he genuinely seems to love her. I have high hopes in the future for this couple. They are becoming a true favorite to root for!

Lemme also say that the plot has thickened! We all caught on in the first book that Layla was special. She has powers that were never expected and she caught on really quick. Now, it seems that everyone wants to get their dirty little paws on her to steal that something special. I’m blown away by the fact that seeing into the bad guys head can feel so realistic. It’s creepy, but that’s what makes for a wonderful book. Way to tell a story so emotionally charged!

I’m not sure I can really do justice to how wonderful this series is. The writing is phenomenal and for a new author who is self published, I can’t help but say that there are SUPPOSED to be mistakes, yet I find NONE! Hooray for you!! and even though I’m normally not the romance reader, I’m sucked in, right from the beginning. I will tell you that you should get your hands on this series, you will not be disappointed! A VERY well deserved 5 PAWS from me!!

his review is for the second in the Mystic series. If you have not read Descension yet, you may want to check out my Descension Review before reading this!

I haven’t been able to buy very many books lately. I absolutely love reviewing and being able to join tours with fabulous books and this just makes me thrilled. This is one book where after I finished the first, Descension, I could not go on with my life. I couldn’t bring myself to read another book without knowing what was going to happen with Layla.

The first book was amazing, the second just picked up from there. The intensity of the relationship is definitely there and the sweetness of the relationship is notched up to a fiery, and wonderful level. What is great about this aspect, is that although they haven’t known each other for long, Layla is really taking things slow. She has an intense attraction to Quin that can almost be called love at first sight BUT for those of you that hate that, this relationship has built over the past two books. They still haven’t known each other for very long, but the building is very gratifying and absolutely fabulous to read about.

But this book is not only about the relationship. It’s about Layla’s survival. It’s about her finding her happiness. It’s an absolute perfect second book and although some series have issues with a middle book, this one just gave me more to go on. I love Layla even more than I did in book one.

The thing about this one is that there is a mysterious stranger hanging around and I wanted to know who he was! It was a very intriguing part of this.

The plot is great and although this is just over 500 pages, the plot flew. The world of magic is opened up more and kept me wanting more! Much like in the first book, I found myself looking up and realizing I was not living in this fantastic world! Which just made me want to keep my nose stuck to my Kindle!! I didn’t want to give up a world that was so interesting!

There are also more characters in this one. But they are introduced at a rate that isn’t overwhelming. It’s a perfect way to meet a community of people and as they are introduced in the book I felt like I was getting to know them as well. There are quite a few characters but never did I feel like it was an overwhelming amount.

Again, this did end on a cliff hanger but it just left my appetite whet for more! I am really crossing my fingers for Mystic #3 and will be holding my breath until I’m holding that in my hands and reading more about Layla!

Re-read: 07.19.15 Just perfect. Alana is still my favorite.

    06.29.13
Layla finally meets her grandparents and the rest of the coven. She wondered what took her so long because they were the sweetest people ever. They instantly felt like family she's been around all her life.

Layla is becoming a super witch as she gets more comfortable using magic. The magic in this story is amazing (if only, I wouldn't have to lift a finger anymore)and without consequences, at least not unless you cross paths with a crazy witch or wizard.

Layla and Quin is as consumed with each other since the day they met. In this book their beautiful love hit a snag. I remember Quin thinking he had to take care of something and I instantly had a feeling it had to do with another woman. I was a little disappointed in him for not coming clean with Layla but I understood his situation. I was thankful that the drama wasn't drawn out and they were able to repair the damage quickly. I understood Layla's fear about repeating history with the Medea situation her parents went through which did ultimately started the situation she finds herself in now.

Enter Finley, I have my suspicions about him. I do not trust his innocent coincidence of running into Layla. I was very turned off by his arrogance and my spidey senses telling me he might be someone we're waiting for their identity to be unveiled.

Agro continues to be a source of guilt and a pain in the ass for Layla and the coven. Wow, he is really short tempered, shouldn't he be happy and having fun terrorizing the magical world? Why so moody all the time? He's another obsessed one, maybe that's a defect of being magical, at least in this story, you eventually go insane. LOL

I just love it when I decide to start a series, not knowing if I will like it enough to continue, and then be surprised how much I love it and can't wait to get to the next book. The Mystic series is one of those surprising reads. I've enjoyed following Layla, Quin and the other coven members stories. I just love books with characters you can fall in love with and even hate passionately enough that you just want to continue, to see the good guys defeat them. Such a wonderfully compelling series and beautiful storytelling, which keeps me wanting more of this series.

  • Christina M

I received this book from B.C for giving her the name of one of her characters. I was chosen from an online contest her facebook fan page and was absolutely thrilled when she chose my choice of Selena. And when I first read the book I actually laughed and thought she’s my character, I then immediately fell in love with Alana so much so that she was MY little girl, just like her mother is my character. Now this all aside, this book is AMAZING! Burgess has outdone herself with this book and I rank her up there with the likes of J.K. Rowling, Stephanie Meyer, and Michael Scott. I can easily picture her books on film.

In this story it picks up where we left off in Descension, Layla found her family, and has discovered she is a witch. She also has met Quin, who I have to say I adore! He is so loving and attentive and oh gosh just everything a woman would want in a man. I can honestly admit I am addicted to Quin.

Gah, I just want to tell you parts of the book I loved but I hate spoilers. I will say that the plot in this book continued with the base story of Agro searching for Layla. I HATE AGRO! But it’s not just Agro that I hated, I hate his right hand man Farriss and ooooooo I do so love what happens there. *rubs hands together evilly*

B.C. Burgess has created characters that are not only loving, but so human that you completely forget your reading a book. You are LIVING their life. I adore Layla, love Quin and all the family, Finley I am reserving judgement on, I can’t decide if he is bad to the bone or just misunderstood, and we know how I feel about Agro. As for my character Selena and her beautiful loveable cuddly little Alana all I can say is I want more.

I can assure you that this book is as good as the first if not better. I loved how much time we get to spend learning about the magic that she is born with. I also love what comes out about Finley and no I will not spill the beans here but trust me its good! I truly do believe that B.C. Burgess has created a series which will stand the test of time. And will most likely wind up being a fabulous movie.

Well worth the read and I plan on purchasing the Hardcover series when she has it completed so that tells you something about how much I loved the first two books in this wonderful series.

  • Tara

I should probably note from the start that I am Quinsessed! I looked back and my “updates” on goodreads for this book and the first book and the only thing I noted, both times, was that I heart Quin! So, my reviews may have a biased slant toward Quin, but I think anyone else reading it will feel the same way.

This series is quickly becoming one of my favorite PNR series!! B.C. Burgess has written a family we all wish was our own, an enemy we can all hate together and a couple we all want to get behind.

Since this books picks up as soon as the last book ended, and it’s not very long as far as time, Layla is still going through all the emotion of losing her mom (Katherine), moving across the country, finding a family she didn’t know she had and all the emotions of reliving her parent’s relationship…oh yeah, and the fact that she is a witch. Although being a witch is what she seems to be adapting to the best. She is also learning the dangers of being a twice bonded child.

We also learn a little bit more about Quin, and I have to say – I for one am glad he wasn’t this perfect guy just waiting for his dream girl to come along. He knew ever finding her would be a long shot and while he never gave his whole heart, I’m glad that B.C. Burgess didn’t make him some super sexy virginal character, it would just not have been believable. Even in the short time they've been together, their interactions and reactions to each other and situations shows you so much of the bond that they are sharing.

We also meet Finley, who I guess is throwing his hat in Layla’s ring…however I don’t trust him and because I’m Quinsessed, I want him gone… I think I know who he is, and if I’m right… well, let’s just say I’m never going to be Team Finley! He does share something special with Layla though, so he could be a possible contender (here's hoping not!)

A discussion board asked us to Vote between Finley and Quin and answer why... I of course chose Quin and my why is because I think they were born to be together! I hope I am right!!! :)

All in all I thought this was a great follow-up and it definitely left me wanting more!

  • Melanie

Impassion is a beautiful story filled with love, passion, and magic! B.C. Burgess has done an amazing job of giving so much detail that you begin to feel you are living in the book with these characters! This book is an easy read as it has good flow and no errors that I noticed!

The first book was an introduction to the series and did well as such, but this book was a small section of the growth and changing of Layla. Not only did she learn some of the depths of her twice bonded magic, but she is learning about her emotional self as well. In the first book I loved Rhosewen and Aedans romance but I'm having a hard time with Layla and Quin and I think it's because it seems like its happening in the midst of all this more important drama. I think it's scaring me because if they are falling in love the same will their love end the same tragic way.... I really hope not :(

This is why I am semi rooting for "new" character, Finley. Although I feel like we have seen bits of him before, at this point you can never be too sure. I realize he is bad, but I've always rooted for the bad boy in the books. The ones who do not have perfect intentions and then fall in love, hopefully that's what is coming for Fin. Because I love him.. Sorry Quin you broke my heart this book. Will keep that to myself though :)

Burgess has done an amazing job of continuing this series and adding new elements like detailed passion and a large amount of new characters without any of them getting lost in the crowd. Everyone has their personality even if they have two sentences on the page. It's amazing that she was able to give so much life to characters who are seemingly fillers.

Cannot wait to get my hands on book 3, to see if Layla and Quin prevail and bond or if my new ship sails with Finley! To see if Evil Agro gets his way, and to see Laylas continued growth as the lead character. Great book, easy reading, you will not be able to put it down until you finish! So start now!

Impassion is the second book of the Mystic Series by B.C. Burgess, and picks up from where Descension stops.

The knowledge of her parent’s sacrifice to keep her safe weighs heavily on Layla. But she found the silver lining to her current situation – she found her family. A family who loves her unconditionally and who supports her wholeheartedly. And the best part about this, she found Quinn … Quinn who takes care of her without any reservation, without any conditions. Quinn who protects her and who teaches her how to tap and use her new found powers. Everything seems idyllic, but there is a dark cloud closing in on Layla. She is hunted by the darkest of covens led by Agro. Her life, and the life of her family is in mortal danger. And to complicate matters, she is also being pursued by another warlock whose powers are equal or even greater than hers. Will she survive this?

Webster’s defines impassion as “being passionate.” And this book reflects the strengthening of Layla’s passion - for being a witch and for the family she has found. We see a progression of Layla’s powers. We also see the burgeoning relationship between Quinn and Layla.

You know what I want? I want the powers this coven possesses. Imagine not having to wash dishes again or making the bed! Imagine the money I could save from getting my hair done if I could just change the color of my hair with a flick of my wrist. I want that. But alas, I live in the real world.

B.C. Burgess story telling maintains the steady pace she set with book one. The characters she introduced in book one are now fully developed. She has also introduced several new characters who will grab your heart or set your teeth on edge.

I am very happy to read a book that is well edited and written, so that the story pours through the pages. B.C. Burgess provides us with scenes that make your heart clench, your spirits soar. The mystic series is a great tale of love, romance, finding yourself, finding family and overcoming what seems to be overwhelming odds.

  • Joanna Mongelluzzo

    B.C. Burgess does it again!

First of all I have to say I like the way the description is laid out for each book. Letting us know about Layla, Quin and the Enemy separately. Great way to grab a reader's attention.

Now going back to this book. I was excited to start it after I finished the first book. The style of writing pulls a reader in to this magical world, a world I can't seem to get enough of.

I love the progress of Layla's and Quin's relationship in this book. It gets a little rocky and it honestly had me afraid and ready to send an email to Bonnie about what she was thinking (hahahaha) but thankfully these two beautiful, young adults can't be away from each for too long.

I love the relationships Layla is forming in the community and loved how she was becoming more comfortable. The author has this easy way of bringing others into the story and also gives us a little feedback so we aren't lost and confused.

I was gripping my phone real hard towards the end. Tears forming in my eyes, I had to force myself to read it and hope for a good outcome.

Bonnie did not disappoint in this book. Filled with love and magic, it gave me something to think about.

    Onto book 3 :)

  • Laura

This book is awesome, well done B. C. Burgess. This is part two of the Mystic Series. Once I started this book I could not put it down until it was finished, I stayed up half the night reading it. This book has it all, romance, excitement, suspense, and adventure. I just love Layla's story and how she is coping with her new family and her powers. When reading this book it just draws you in and you feel like you are right there with them. I have to say that the ending will leave you hanging on and wishing that book three was already in your hands. I sure hope B.C. Burgess hurry's up with book three because I can't wait to read what happens next. Even though we are left with so many questions, the author ended this book perfect. I love the new character Finley and I can't wait to read more about him and his story. I also hope see how everything works out with Agro in the next book. If you read this story the first book is Descension, trust me you will absolutely LOVE this series. Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

  • Fatma Alici

I read the first book and I loved. Therefore, I went out bought the second one. I did not disappoint. I like how Layla's and Quinn relationship is evolving. Though for me the highlight was Layla's relationship with her various relatives and coven members. It reminded me a lot of the closeness of my own family. We aren't touchy feeling, but we think something we are going to say it.
Alana is crazy cute as well.

I also like how as wonderful as her family is, they aren't perfect and can sometimes unintentionally push Layla off to the side as far as the decision making goes. And, they are over protective, especially the adults. It all makes sense especially with what's going on.

As far as negatives go I would have to say at times it gets overly mushy. From a plot perspective Burgess is laying down the groundwork for something truly awful, hard, or bad to happen. But, in this installment it can be a bit much. It is balanced with the cutaways to search for it, and what's Agro's up to, so it's only a bit mushy for me. However, I'm possibly the least romantic, mushy person on the planet.

Still, loved the book. I've already brought the third one.

My aura is espresso brown with pink stripes. :)

Two words came to mind while reading... Touchy-feely and aww
    www....
It seems Quin couldn't keep his hands to himself and Layla didn't seem to want him too. They were so affectionate, passionate, and so sweet.

Impassion introduces you to aura dissection and it's so stinking cute!

Quin proves to be so thorough and thoughtful. He doesn't let one detail slip.
Layla's magic power is stronger but still not enough when faced with Farris, Agro's right hand. And there is one more important character introduced, Finley. Finley seems to think he could easily replace Quin but Layla disagreed. She put her foot down and I LOVE her for it. She's finally grown out of her shell.

Can't wait for Deception (The Mystic Series). I'm so eager to find out what awaits them when they have finally admitted I Love Yous to each other. :)

I loved this book just as much as the first one (Descension)! Impassion picked up right where the first book left off and captured my attention just as much as the first book. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down! I can't wait for more of Layla & Quin and the rest of their story!!! Magic, love, excitement ... so many different words I can use to describe this book and it still won't capture the essence of the book well enough! All I can say is ... More! More! More!! :)

Love, Love, Love this book!!! B. C. Burgess did not disappoint. I didn't think it was possible to pour the same amount of emotion into Impassion as she did Descension, but of course she did, and did it brilliantly. Everything about this book (series) is amazing. Burgess has a way of pulling you into the book and making you feel like you are part of the family (coven) and experiencing everything the they are. I miss the characters already and am anxiously awaiting book 3. I appreciated the flawless editing also. It was refreshing to read a book without huge mistakes on every other page. It just shows the amount of pride that was put into these books. B. C. Burgess is definitely on the top of my list of favorite authors.

Upon reading the first book, I immediately bought the 2nd book and am so glad I did. This isn't a stand alone book, and it starts off right when the first book, Descension ended. The first book was so amazing I didn't think it could get better, I was wrong. This book left me speechless. I couldn't put it down. I felt so many different emotions within the book, it kept me completely enthralled. The passion felt between Layla and Quinn is nothing short of amazing. Once again the author left no detail out. I felt like I was watching a movie as opposed to reading a book. This is the kind of book that keeps you thinking about it for days/weeks/months after reading it. I have already purchased the 3rd book and am looking forward to reading it. I strongly recommend this book. You will love it!

What can I say? I repeat my review of book 1. BC Burgess is fantastic. Her ability to "grow" the story in book 2 is amazing. She manages to keep the foundation of book 1 without dropping the feeling when entering into book 2. The transition couldn't be smoother. The introduction of new characters - one in particular - happened at just the right time however I must say during one dramatic part I didn't expect it to be as relatively easy as it was for end result to "go up in smoke" so to say. Yes cryptic but no spoilers are going to be given away from me. Read the story and you'll know what I mean. Lol. All in all I still can't wait to get book 3 and see how the story and relationship evolve!

WOW!!! So worth the wait but I hate that its over. B.C. has taken Layla's and Quin's love affair to a whole new level. From beginning to end, B.C. takes you on a roller coaster ride of love, fantasy and magic, leaving you craving more; much like Layla's coffee addiction. I especially love the new characters being introduced and the nice twist they are putting on things. Don't worry no spoilers here, I don't want to ruin the journey for anyone....lol. 2013 can't get here fast enough!! If haven't joined in on the magic that is B.C. Burgess, you need to do so immediately!! Her "Mystic" series is an addiction worth having. Enjoy!!

I first read Descension as a free book from Amazon. Little did I know that When I started it, I would not put it down until I was done. I could not wait for Impassion to come out. Mrs. Burgess did not disappoint! I made the mistake of downloading and starting it before bed. Next thing I know, I was finished with it and it was 1 o'clock in the morning. Mrs. Burgess puts you into the story with the full and colorful details, she makes you one of the family. You can't help but want to help Layla in her journey. The only problem is now I have to wait for the third book.
