"I love clothes," cries the Emperor, and he's not kidding. He doesn't care a fig for anything or anybody else--he doesn't have to, he's the Emperor. What a spoiled pig! He's so vain and stuck-up that he's the perfect target for two sly swindlers, who weave him a suit of clothes no one will ever forget--especially not the Emperor!

The Emperor's New Clothes Reviews

I read this book to a year, two class, during my block placement and thought it was hilarious. The part where the emperor asked his servants or others working in the palace, what they thought of his clothes made all the children laugh. The children said, ” miss but he's not wearing any clothes”.I felt that the book sent important morals on the importance of being honest and to not be greedy and appreciate what you have.

Hans Christian Andersen’s tale of the emperors new clothes is humorous. I would recommend his Story because it teaches children about the importance of trust, helping them to understand that they must trust anyone before they ask them to do something for them.

Andersen retells the story of an emperor who comes across two frauds who convince him they can weave invisible cloth. The illustrations done by Rowe are colorful and very appealing to young children. The emperor is portrayed as a human, while all of the other characters are different animals such as mice and monkeys. In particular, the two frauds are depicted as cunning little foxes. I read this story to my youngest sister, C’Jay (who is seven years old). Her favorite part of the story was the pictures – he found them interesting and amusing. When the emperor tried on his “clothes,” the monkeys covered their eyes in embarrassment; C’Jay would giggle at each page. This classic story was told in a creative way through the illustrations as well as the text.

The only issue I had was declaring “The Emperor’s No Clothes Day.” I was unfamiliar with this spin on the story, but was overall satisfied with the book.

A great story with a good message for my kiddos. If something is too good to be true, it probably is. And Don't be afraid to question what other's tell you. They enjoy it.
