Girls Race!: Amazing Tales of Women in Sports (Girls Rock!) Reviews

Read with my daughters. We watched a lot of clips of the athletes on YouTube. So cool!

Mini biographies of women in sports through the decades.
I like the look of the book, but I agree with another reviewer that the order of the book is odd. It's not in chronological order, or by sport or by decade, but a random selection. Nice photos and short text.
I'm not into sports at all, and it held my attention. For some reason I really got interested in Babe Didrickson Zaharias, who was a superstar in many sports, not just the golf I knew about. She died very young and I looked up on my own what she died of--colon cancer--and was winning tournaments even in her later years.)
There is a nice timeline in the back of the book to give the reader a decades perspective. The writers touch on politics and the barriers women have faced in sports (and life). This is a great book for any kind of "Women in Sports" display and a wonderful collection of important contributions by women. Since I'm not a sports fan, I can't attest to how complete it is. But it says a lot that I do like it as a non-sports person. -
Spotlights contributions, accomplishments, and influences women have had in sports through the decades.
