    Wow. Tearjerker. Excellent book for parents and children. My boys 6&5 agree it was sad, but we can all help somebody!

    This true story focuses on the life of Denver Moore who was born into a sharecropping family in Louisiana during the Great Depression. He lived most of his life homeless and uneducated, feeling as if no one, not even God cared about him.

    Denver's life changed after he met Miss Debbie and Ron. Miss Debbie had a prophetic dream about a homeless man who would make a difference and she and her husband, Ron, volunteered in homeless shelters searching for the man from Miss Debbie's dreams. PreK-2.

    I just finished reading Same Kind of Different as Me, and really loved it, though I had to stop reading a few times near the end because of the tears in my eyes. This book is a bit of a condensed version written for children, and there are some sad sections in it as well. It is dedicated to Denver Moore who died in 2012. The overriding concept that, though we can't help everyone, we can help someone, is valuable for children as well as adults to learn.

    Excellent true children's story briefly describing slavery, poverty and homelessness in very simple terms. Then Gods love is shown to Denver, the mean, homeless man and his life is changed. A good, basic challenge for little children to help somebody.
