Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Forever.

Second Chance Boyfriend (One Week Girlfriend, #2) Reviews

Um, I'm not trying to be an ego maniac by giving my own book 5 stars but I just wanted to let everyone know a few things about SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND...

-- There will be no cliffhanger. This book wraps up Drew + Fable's story.

-- It will be LONGER. Much longer.

-- It will be SEXIER. Much sexier. I've come to realize that Drew + Fable can't keep their hands off each other.

-- Release date is scheduled for **EDITED TO ADD** April 9th (SORRY EVERYONE ONLY ONE MORE WEEK TO WAIT!).

-- Just because this is the sequel doesn't mean I won't continue in this world. There's a character who's in this book and I love him. He needs his own book. So he shall be getting one.

-- Am I the only one who thinks eventually Owen deserves his own book too? I hope not. *winks*

'Drew Callahan is my absolute weakness. Like a drug I can’t get enough of. He’s my addiction and if I’m being honest with myself, I’m not looking to kick that particular habit anytime soon.' ~Fable

This book was just shy of the 5 STAR mark for me.
Did I love it? HELL YES!
Do I think other readers will love it? HELL YES!

“My mom was pretty dead on when she named me Fable, wasn’t she? I don’t feel real to anyone.”
“You’re real to me,” I whisper. So damn real, it hurts not to touch her.

When this book starts two months have past since Fable has seen Drew. And once they finally lay eyes on each other again he knows he cannot continue his path of loneliness. It’s time for him to admit what he did was wrong. It’s time to get his girl back.

    Marshmallow

A boys night out causes Drew to call on Fable when he finds himself to drunk to drive. She picks him up and takes him home and then stays the night. Drew apologizes for his actions after their one week together. They talk and follow it up with earth shattering sex.

‘She holds my heart in her hands.
And for the first time in my life,
I give it over to her completely.
    Freely.
Fable Maguire owns me. And I know I own her.’
    ~Drew

These two sizzle on the pages, I wish we could have gotten a little more of them as a couple, doing couple things such as dating. Life seems to just get in the way, everything for these two as a couple moves forward. Unfortunately their personal lives outside of being a couple has them both in emotional turmoil.
Things go from really bad to extremely horrible for Fable and Owen on the home front. Having to keep Owen on the straight and narrow plus deal with their BITCH of a mother is NOT easy. She clings to Drew in her time of need yet still remains her independent self by not relying on a man to get things done.
Drew battles with his secrets as his father reaches out to him as a confidant. Drew's fear of no longer having his father in his life if those secrets come to life cause him to be constantly on edge. Meanwhile Fable is a steady guide and strong life line in his time of need.

The truth is rarely pure and never simple. – Oscar Wilde

As you read on you start to get that “uh oh” feeling, like you know shit is about to hit the fan. And then it does. And it happens in a way I was not expecting. AT ALL.

    Highlights

    -A punch to the jaw
    -Game of True Confessions
    -Sex against the wall
    -A surprise POV switch

In my humble opinion -One of the best lines written in 2013

‘Now, we own the happily ever after and we refuse to let that bitch go.’ ~Fable

    Love this chick!

    My Thoughts
I love love love these characters. I love how Murphy kept Fable’s independent spirit in tact even when she hit the bottom of her sanity. I love how Drew was respectful of her spirit; how he was gentle with her needs and tender in the way he cared for her and she with him. I loved Drew’s vulnerability, how he had it all but didn’t at the same time… Because he allowed his past to haunt his thoughts and fill him with guilt.

I stopped myself from giving this book five stars because a story line that has been burnt in to my brain was not resolved. I’m curious to see the reactions of readers to Adele and her part in this book…

I highly doubt this is the end of Drew and Fable. Meaning we will most likely see them featured in another book as supporting cast mates to a new couple…
Not my idea of an HEA, but it does have a happy ending. Ok, so my idea of an HEA is a nice flash in to the future. You get marriage, a house, maybe 2.5 kids.. You get my drift right?! This story gives a flash forward in to their near future and just ends on a happy note. Also as I previously stated, I do foresee more books in the near future. We meet two new characters(Colin and Jen) that will grab your attention strictly based on the dynamics of their relationship...or lack there of. PLUS, I would love to get a book for Owen. You'll understand why once you read it.

    My Ratings
    Characters- Loved most hated others
    Writing Style- Savory
Plot/Storyline- Emotionally charged with good sexy moments
    Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy
Overall- I loved it!! READ IT!!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

I DON'T EVEN WANT TO RATE THIS BOOK.
    It disappointed me so badly!

It was pathetic and so fucking bad.
The book felt incomplete firstly!! So many things were just left unsolved.. blank pieces..

Like I was looking forward to this, because the first book rocked, but this one? :| Not even worthy of the 1 star.

    Now here is my Drew...

     photo SecondChanceboyfriend-Drewshirtlessredone_zpsd75f7b96.jpg

It’s been a few months since Drew left Fable in her apartment... they haven’t communicated or seen one another since. But that doesn’t mean they have forgotten one another and the time they spent together. Drew is

Lost. That one single word describes my life at this very moment.

and spending his time in class writing poems about Fable.

     photo SecondChanceBoyfriend-Marshamallowredone_zpseb61b16f.jpg
He is talking to a therapist, trying to get himself together. He misses Fable like crazy. She was the one real thing in his life.
“My mom was pretty dead on when she named me Fable, wasn’t she? I don’t feel real to anyone.”
“You’re real to me.”

     photo SecondChanceboyfriend-Fableredone_zpsc6982285.jpg

Fable is heartbroken, but she has to move on, has to survive, even if she is dying inside. Fable has a little brother who counts on her, so she continues to work hard. She even gets a new job at an upscale restaurant making much better tips than before. One night while working, he comes in...

     photo SecondChanceBoyfriend-Drew1redone_zpsda6253c1.jpg
Drew Callahan in my absolute weakness. Like a drug I can’t get enough of. He’s my addiction.

That night, they throw everything out there. They talk. They get back together.

     photo SecondChanceBoyfriend-kissredone_zpsd7463ef9.jpg

I was so happy we didn’t have to wait and wait for Drew and Fable to be together. They are much stronger now then they were in the first book. Although they have just as many (if not more) obstacles than before. Not only is the crazy bitch back- and CRAZIER than ever, they have to deal with Fable’s mom, and her little brother. Plus, Drew’s dad is getting closer and closer to finding out his big secret. There is a lot going on.

Fable is such a kick ass heroine. She is strong, supportive, and carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. I was so happy Drew was able to step it up and be there for her this book. She needs someone she can count on.
“I’ll always save you. You never have to worry about that.”

Drew... I was so happy to see Drew overcome parts of his past and really start to heal. He made a ton of progress. Drew is just the total package. I mean, a sexy football star who writes poetry for his girl? I love it!

The story was great! We got introduced to some new characters (Jen and Colin... getting their own book I hear? I hope so!) Now back to Drew and Fable... they couldn't keep their hands off one another in this book! This book was definitely hotter than the last! Trust me- I’m not complaining! One of my favorite parts was the strip True Confessions game they played ;-) And it may be morbid to say... but I was really happy
And the ending... OMG this was the most perfect thing...

If you haven’t read One Week Girlfriend, pick it up, then read this one! It was amazing!

    4-4.5 STARS.

*I'm on a Drew Callahan Cloud Nine!!!*

I loved him in the first book but now, he's also become a poet!?

    "For a passion that's
    Able to shine like ours
    Blessed are we to
    Love
    Each other."

And he had this^^ particular poem tattooed as a sign of his true love for Fable. How can you not love a guy who does a romantic gesture like that? Him alone, makes this book worth reading. Seriously. So, if you're going to read this series, prepare to *swoon* over him. Don't say I didn't warn you!

    Now, on to the review...

Second Chance Boyfriend is the second part of the Drew + Fable series and I LOVED it even more than the first part!!! This series is the perfect relaxing, entertaining read with some very steamy scenes and a few unexpected turns that kept me glued to the pages the entire time I was reading it. Although I liked it even more than the first part of the series, I felt like "something" was missing for me to give it a five star rating, but still, I very much enjoyed reading this series and I would highly recommend anyone to give Drew and Fable's story a try!

    Drew -

"Drew I'm going to kick him in the balls next time I see him Callahan."

Yes, the way he left things at the end of the first part of the series, two months before the start of the second part, wasn't very smooth and it's perfectly understandable, Fable was furious with him for it. Although Drew seems like the guy who has it all together - he's extremely handsome, rich, has good grades and is the star football player in college - he's far from perfect. His past still haunts him and he's often still confronted with those issues in his present life. But Fable makes him want to change. She makes him want to address those problems and work on them in order to win her back.

"I've always run away in the past. But you, Fable. You make me want to stay."

Because for the first time in his life, Drew has found someone who makes him feel normal, who makes him feel anything at all. And he's not willing to let that go. I loved the fact that he was strong enough to face his old problems and that he was willing to embrace his love for Fable.

"She holds my heart in her hands. And for the first time in my life, I give it over to her completely. Freely. Fable Maguire owns me. And I know I own her too."

    Fable -

Poor Fable... All she wanted was for for once, to be someone first choice. And with Drew, she thought she finally found what she'd been looking for...only to have it ripped from her hands all over again. So, after the way things ended between her and Drew, she tries to move on. She gets a new job, makes new friends but deep down, she's still hoping for her knight in shining armor to show back up in her life and sweep her off her feet.

"Drew Callahan is my absolute weakness. Like a drug I can't get enough of. He's my addiction and if I'm being honest with myself, I'm not looking to kick that particular habit anytime soon."

Her life isn't easy either. She has a lot of responsibilities to take care of, but she never complains about them. She's such a strong character with a personality that never backs down from anything and I loved the fact that she stood by Drew no matter what. Even when she discovered all of his darkest secrets, she never, not once, gave up on him.

    Drew + Fable = PERFECT
They are both broken souls with a lot of baggage and a lot of drama in their live, but somehow they found each other amidst all of that and together they try to help each other through all the hard times. They still have a lot to learn about what it's like to be in a supportive relationship, but they're both willing to fall down and stand back up when things get rough. And that is what I loved about these two. Their relationship is real with real problems. It isn't always rainbows and butterflies but things aren't like that in real life either. But even when they were faced with difficult situations, they tried to make the best of it and they never gave up on believing in each other.

"Our relationship isn't perfect. Drew Callahan isn't perfect either. But I wouldn't have him any other way."

Other than that, I don't want to give away much more about the plot, because it might spoil too much. But, you should know, Adele makes an appearance again, one that doesn't go unnoticed. Oh, and there was one chapter in her point of view...

Yeah, I didn't feel really comfortable reading that...BUT luckily it was a pretty short chapter!

I also loved some of the additional characters in this book, especially Fable's little brother Owen. I love how he always stood up for her, despite his young age. And I felt bad for the way their mom treated him. Then there were Colin, Fable's new boss, and Jenn, her new co-worker and friend. They seemed to have a thing going on between them (which I heard might be explored further in a new book?) and they definitely made the plot more interesting. But still, the main focus was on Drew and Fable and the undeniable attraction between these two and that is what I loved most about this book. Needless to say, it made me very happy to see these two get their happily ever after.

"Drew and I were never believers in the fairy tale. Now, we own the happily ever after and we refuse to let that bitch go." ~ Fable

I LOVED THIS BOOK MEGA LOTS!!!!

Holy hell this book was AWESOME!!!! I'd give this one more stars if they were available. I love it when a book totally lives up to the hype and this sequel did that and more... It was everything I wanted it to be...

This one picks up about 2 months where
One Week Girlfriend left off.. Drew and Fable are seperated and both very unhappy. Drew and Fable both come from very unstable families and we found out some extreamly heart wrenching things about Drew towards the end of OWG. It leads Drew to think he's not good enough for Fable. He has one last beautiful night with her then leaves her with a note:

    Dear Fable,
My worst enemy is behind me because of you.
And there’s still a lot left for me to explain.
Right now, all I can think about is you.
So many things in my life confuse me and…
    Hurt me— except you.
Maybe we can be together again someday.
All I really want is you, but I can’t do this now.
Losing you will be the hardest thing I’ve dealt with yet.
Loving you might be a mistake. Drawing you intomy world will
Only hurt you. And I refuse to do that.
    Will you ever forgive me?
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
    I love you.
    Drew

MARSHMALLOW...the first letter in every sentence is their code word for each other that they need saving... Fable knew that Drew needed her and she tried for weeks to get him to see her but he ignored her. Now two months later and Fable is trying to move on but not doing a very good job of it. Neither is Drew. When they finally run in to each other the love is so clearly still there. The love these two felt for each other was just... beautiful. They were both everything that each other needed. They both needed saving.

This book is the next part of their journey; them coming to understand the depth of their love for each other and be there for one another when the rest of their worlds are crumbling around them. I love how we did not have to wait long at all for them to get back together where they belong and the majority of this story is them dealing with all of thier outside issues together..TOGETHER.

I simply could not stand to put this book down.. every page had me wrapped up in Drew and Fable. My heart just clenched and ached for both of them so much and then those special moments would happen when I just felt so much happy sappy good love and my heart would breath easy again. I love books hat do that--take hold of you and don't let go until the very end. I had a huge smile on my face at the end. Such an awesome awesome story.

If you've not read Drew and Fable's story you need to get busy.. they are totally worth your time.. And to Moncia Murphey-- PLEASE get us a story for Jen and Colin!!

”Drew Callahan is my absolute weakness. Like a drug I can’t get enough of. He’s my addiction and if I’m being honest with myself, I’m not looking to kick that particular habit anytime soon.”~ Fable

Second Chance Boyfriend is a fast paced, sexy, romantic, wonderful sequel!

This book picks up with both Drew and Fable feeling the loss after Drew leaves her “the note” at the end of the first book. This story is told in alternating POVS of Drew and Fable with a shocking POV from the evil stepmother.

Drew is sexy and sweet and Fable is kick ass and fantastic. As a couple, they have it all!

I was expecting Monica Murphy to torture me with the wait for Drew and Fable to get back together but...NOPE. Fable is offered a new job from a hot restaurant owner which left me nervous for about two seconds until Drew comes in with his fellow teammates and sees Fable. Drew is working with a therapist and has come a long way in his ability to face his problems head on.

”I’ve always run away in the past. But you, Fable. You make me want to stay."~Drew

Between Drew’s father and evil stepmother and Fable’s mother our couple gets through some heavy situations but they do it together.

There were many sexy scenes that weren’t drawn out or over the top… they were just plain HOT! Dirty-Talking, True Confessions Game, and the club scene I just loved!! On a sweet note, Drew’s poems were completely swoon worthy!!

My guess is Jennifer and Colin may possibly get a book?

I loved the epilogue and I couldn’t be happier with the ending.

Where do I start with this amazing story other than SQUEE!!!

Okay, so this is not a review based on expectation. I have READ Second Chance Boyfriend. I read it even before it went to the editor. As a long-time friend and critique partner of the amaaaaazing Monica Murphy, I have the ultimate BEST FRIEND JOB IN THE WORLD of reading her delicious books before everyone else does! That's right! I get to see them get born and watch their magical journey, every. Single. Time!

And I have to tell all of you waiting for SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND - this book will rock your socks off as much or even more than ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND. It is amazing! I'd give it more stars, if I could!

Right from the start, there's the longing, the angst, the palpable love between them - and yet, the obstacles. Among them, that damn woman Adele. *shudder*

I couldn't wait for them to overcome the obstacles, let down their walls, and just be with each other! So I truly can't begin to express how heart-wrenching and beautiful it was to watch Drew and Fable reconnect. I drank up every word they said to each other and melted with each one. Then . . . it is HOT. Hotter even than OWG. Oh my god! And the drama! Adele! I hate that woman so! I won't spoil this incredible read, but Monica blew my mind. Nothing could have prepared me for the climax. This book is a fantastic, emotional, angsty, sexy, dramatic, whoppingly romantic read that will leave you breathless and wanting to scream MARSHMAHLLOW!!!

SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND, I just can't wait for the world to read it and love it like I do!

  • Karen

    WOW WOW WOW!!!!! Loved it!!!!!
FIREWORKS AND A MARCHING BAND SHOULD FOLLOW THE ENDING TO THIS BOOK!

Before you start this review, if you haven’t read One-Week Girlfriend, stop right now and go read it. You will not be disappointed!!!! This book is a continuation of the story, so there may be some spoilers included from the first book.

Two people in love, alone, isolated from the world, that’s beautiful. –Milan Kundera

So this book begins at the end of One Week Girlfriend, well actually 2 months later, following the heartbreaking note that Drew left for Fable after their last night together. She has tried contacting him several times since, but has gotten no response. She is still wants to believe he cares for her after that incredibly heart felt note he left her with, but still…who does that?

Who spends the most intense week of their life with another human being and shares their most intimate thoughts, their craziest, darkest secrets, has sex with a person – and we’re talking amazing, earth-shattering sex –leaves them a note that says I love you and then bails?

Well apparently Drew Fucking Callahan, that’s who!!! Fable is left feeling very conflicted, and once again losing the fragile trust she was finally building with him. So what does she do? She does what Fable Maguire always does; she picks up the pieces and moves on. Back to her life, back to her responsibilities. But this time, she can’t seem to shake him. She can’t stop thinking of him, wondering what he is doing, and how he is coping with all of the shit going on in his life.

"Sometimes you have to stand alone, just to make sure you still can.” –Unknown

But true to her ways, she accepts her fate, she puts him out of her thoughts and she moves on with her life. Until one night, working at LaSalle’s, she meets Colin. A devastatingly handsome guy who sweeps her off her feet and into a new job at the hottest new restaurant in town…The District. But while Fable finds him very attractive, she still can’t quite get a read on him, and she is very hesitant to accept his kindness. She is constantly feeling scrutinized by him. His suggestions for personal improvement, and his generosity to pay for them are both admirable and insulting to her. But Fable goes along with it all, in the name of a better job, more money, and the hope for a better future.

”So why did you hire me?” “I saw your potential,” he said softly. “Do you, Fable? Do you see it?” I couldn’t answer him. Because the truth wasn’t what he wanted to hear. No.

Then there’s Drew. He has tried to move on too, but the poor guy is still heartbroken. He is still dreaming of the girl that changed his life, the girl that changed him… in only one short week together. But he is still convinced that she is better off without him, that she is too good for him.

I just loved reading Drew’s POV. He is just SUCH A GOOD GUY!!!! A romantic. Those poems he kept playing with…. So damn SWOONY!!!! Drew may have been a bit messed up in his head, but let me tell you… there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with this boys heart!!!!! And his tattoo…sooooo sweet!!!!!! Fable hit the freaking lotto with this guy.

Maybe it was a mistake leaving you.
And I don’t know how to make it right.
Regret fills me every single day.
So much of it builds up I
    Hate myself for
    Missing you. Hurting you.
And I want you to know I…
    Long for you
    Love you
Others may come and go in our lives but…
    We belong together

SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I’m totally in love with Drew!!!!! I think the only thing he did wrong was to beat himself up over things that weren’t even his fault. He was always quick to blame himself for every problem. But still, it didn’t make him weak… he was still possessive and jealous, and even a bit forceful at times… which was a TOTAL turn-on!!!!! OK, have I gushed enough…I think so.

She holds my heart in her hands. And for the first time in my life, I give it over to her completely. Freely. Fable Maguire owns me. And I know I own her.

Now I have to say, Fable did irritate me occasionally throughout the book. She was a little moody and irrationally bitchy at times… but I got over it….but only because she got over it. ;)

Now, without expounding on anything from the story, I will say that the story dragged just a little in the middle. Not to say there wasn't some smoking hot sex between these two. They have such an amazing chemistry together. And there is still some innocence to the couple that is just beautiful!!!!

But, I was waiting for something explosive to happen, and it just didn’t….until….IT DID!!!!!! But it wasn’t until the end that I was just fucking BLOWN AWAY!!!.

I have to say, the last 20% of this book was just fantastic!!!!!! I was shocked, pissed, and fucking jumping for joy all in about 30 minutes time. My updates speak for themselves. I think I woke my husband 3 or 4 times cursing out-loud or typing furiously…my horrific updates!!!!! I even made a new GR friend at 1am who couldn’t help but respond to my constant cyber shouts of pain and ire!!!!

And in the end….the author GOT IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! She ended this the ONLY WAY it could have worked for me!!!!!!!! AND I FUCKING LOVED THE ENDING TO THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!! It actually changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars!!! And completely deserved it!!!

I highly recommend this series… but if you are going to read the first book… you HAVE to read the second one…MANDATORY!!!!

    Major spoiler...

    4.5 stars!

I love Drew he is awesome!!!

This book was soo amazingly sweet!
It picks up from One Week Girlfriend after Drew walks out on Fable after leaving a letter...

Fable is broken and devastated. She tries to move on focusing on her life and her brother.

One say she gets approached by this mysterious man called Collin to work at his new up scale restaurant.

Drew is lonely.. He misses Fable. He is sorry for what he did. Left Fable.. Just like that... Drew does what he does best. Runs away.. He messes up everything so shuts himself off and starts seeing a shrink..

Offcourse Drew and Fable must meet again..
We see how they find their way back to each other. When I love is so strong like theirs it can withstand anything.

"Drew Callahan is my absolute weakness. Like a drug I can’t get enough of. He’s my addiction and if I’m being honest with myself, I’m not looking to kick that particular habit anytime soon."

They both have Crazy issues- Drew with that sick Adele and Fable with her mother but they make each other strong.

"I’ve always run away in the past. But you, Fable. You make me want to stay.”

Their connection is undeniable! They have crazy chemistry and u cannot get enough of their sexy times together!

"I’ll never forget the things you said to me. Not because they mattered, but because they made me feel like I did.

"I’ve heard those sorts of declarations before. Where two become one and you can’t tell where one begins and the other ends, blah, blah, blah. I always thought it sounded like a bunch of romantic crap"
"But I feel that way right now with Drew. As if our bodies are entwined, bound so tight we could never, ever come apart. His heart is mine."
    "And my heart is his."

I Loved every minute of reading this book!

"True love isn’t easy, but it must be fought for. Once you find it, it can never be replaced"

I still not on board with this duet. In the previous book, I do not like how Drew'a past was handled in the story. And its still not handled well in the conclusion, IMO.

I was expecting more angst. More serious story line.

The only thing I like about this book is the swoony part. The relationship between Drew and Fable is swoon worthy. Especially Drew who tried his damnest to be better man.

Overall this is OK story to close my weekend.

    1.5 STARS

2 consecutive chucks to the dnf pile is a no-no for me so I stuck with this one until the painful end. Which means churning out this review was excruciating.

I read One Week Girlfriend as part of a group challenge and remember liking it enough because of Drew's screwed up, soapy past. I really wanted to know how his secret will hit the fan. I also remember my Monica Murphy Reading Experience to be quite pleasant with very little cringe-worthy moments.

That's breakfast right there: Hammy AND cheesy.

I don't know, maybe my heart really is a giant block of ice or maybe I'm missing a few bits and bobs on the part of the brain that should make me melt over these romantic literary feats but my gag reflex is just a wee bit too ticklish, I feel. These juvenile efforts to make me get hot and bothered over Drew just ended up with me bothered.

The book picks up 2 months after the end of OWG. I'm not sure where Murphy was going to take Drew and Fable's story but I wasn't expecting to bitch and moan over the seam-ful writing. Arguments got rambling and repetitive and the use of the "we'll talk later" plot device was used to the extreme. Can't you just resolve an issue once it arises so you can make up new ones instead of drawing out the argument for a hundred or so pages? It's bad enough that the paper-thin plot was stretched to absurd limits but to be perpetually stuck in the same discussion written with such an immature POV was just exhausting.

I look at Drew. No way am I going to say anything to Owen about... that. "She's a little mentally unstable at the moment. Everyone's worried about her." Ick. I can't believe I just said that. I'm not worried about her. I wish she'd fall off the face of the earth and rot in hell forever.

Are we sure Fable's not in fifth grade?

The new secondary characters (save for Drew's therapist, who sounded like the only sensible person in the story) felt rudimentary: what was the point of Colin and Jen? Colin was supposed to be the enigmatic boss who has faith in Fable's capabilities but by the end of the book just so he'd have some use.

The only thing I was looking forward to was resolved too conveniently. While others might have gotten squicked by it, I found made the first book original and intriguing (though certainly some messed up, sh*t). How it was tackled in this book felt like it threw away the one interesting thing it had going for it. The way Adele acted was completely ridiculous and out of her conniving, devious character (mostly because there was really no effort to develop her beyond the evil stepmom here).

Drew's efforts to be a man worthy of Fable (outside the poems, anyway) and Fable's relationship with Owen and her mother would've been more interesting to me than the pedestrian sex scenes which automatically follows the "we'll talk later"s. I'm not even going to speculate how they'd fare as a couple beyond the last chapter since everything gets resolved with sex anyway so they OBVIOUSLY have a great happily ever after ahead of them.

You know how there are just some authors whose writing style just “clicks” for you. It’s so effortless and easy to read. You find yourself sitting down to read ONE chapter and the next thing you know, it’s 3 hours later and you’ve completely ignored all those things you were supposed to do today. Yeah, Monica Murphy is one of those people for me. I devoured both One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend and loved them both.

This book picks up right where One Week Girlfriend ended. Drew and Fable are no longer together, though neither one has really moved on. They are both so broken and still dealing with their terrible family situations. My heart broke for Drew and all he went through with Adele. I was so proud of him for taking it upon himself to find a therapist and get the help he needs. And the tattoo he got for Fable, I was majorly swooning. He’s got such a good heart and I just loved him. Excellent conclusion to Drew and Fable’s story!!

    And thanks to Tessa at

The whole time I was reading this book I had a smile on my face.Well pretty much the whole time. There were a few moments that didn't have a smile. But let's just say by the time I finished my face hurt from smiling so much!!There are a lot of happy moments!!!!

This book picks up 2 months after Drew left her behind to try to straighten out his life and the family devastation his stepmom dumped on him during Thanksgiving break. He is seeing a therapist to try to sort things out but he misses Fable and isn't sure how to get her back or if he is the man she deserves. The pair are reunited by chance when he goes to the new restaurant she is working at and when she spots him she wants to find out why he left her behind and if there is still a chance for them.
Putting their love back on the front burner means work but they are willing to try even though the odds are against them.

Drew the great poet.I loved him.Loved his little poems.
He is really broken, dealing with his past and fears. But still he tries to fix everything with Fable, he needs her to heal, both of them are one. I loved how he starts building his life once again, getting ready to feel and open up to a new life with Fable and dealing with his insecurities. He is so sweet!!!

Great series!!!!! I really liked Drew and Fable...I thought this book was a little more tame than the first but as a whole it was fabulous!!!

The only reason I'm not writing a bigger review for it is because I'm being lazy it has nothing to do with the book:))

    Absolute GREAT series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5--Thank-you for not making us wait forever for Drew + Fable to get back together--Stars!

5--Drew is so sexy, sweet, funny, generous and caring--Stars!!!

Did I mention how much I Drew!!! No really! I am IN LOVE with Drew!

Second Chance Boyfriend was the perfect conclusion to Drew + Fable's love story! I loved every minute of it....the good and the bad. As I mentioned before, I am so glad Ms. Murphy didn't make us wait ages for Drew + Fable to get back together.

The story begins with Fable working at a new restaurant and has a new hottie boss (I was a little worried about where this storyline might go). Drew is seeing a therapist and trying to work on his issues. He shows at the restaurant for a party and it was all over from there.

One look, one touch, one kiss and Drew + Fable realize that they can't live without each other. The chemistry between Drew + Fable was electric....sparks flying off of the page. It was HOT. Drew promises he's not going to run anymore. He's going to be open and honest and allow Fable to be there for him.

Unfortunately, Adele (that evil skank bitch) hasn't gone away and Fable's mom continues to be her worthless self. But Drew + Fable work through their problems together....strengthening their relationship along the way.

Drew! Yes, he needs his own paragraph. Drew was so sweet and sensitive. Caring and loving. Sexy and romantic. He was perfection, flaws and all. His poems...gah!

I buddy read this book with Elena. :)

Oh my Marshmallow. The continuation of Drew and Fable's story is sexier than the first book. I immediately start this because I can't get enough of these two. The story is still predictable but I really enjoyed the drama going on. I'm in awed of how these two get together and it's a sweet thing to see despite of all the shits they've been through. I think their story is greatly concluded.

Monica Murphy's writing style made me hooked into the story. I'm looking forward to read more of her books.

I adored One Week Girlfriend, like a lot… like a lot, a lot, a lot. I loved the character of Fable and her strong will. Drew is another great character who seems to have it all, a big football star, wealthy, and very good looking but holding onto a big dark secret that no one knows, until Fable comes into his world. They were amazing together and the ending of OWG left you in shock and so mad at Drew. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Second Chance Boyfriend and hopefully Drew figures his crazy step-mom issues out and step up to be the mad Fable deserves and who he really is. So of course when SCG was released I read it and had it read within in hours.

Second Chance Boyfriend picks up a few months after where OWG left off. Drew had left Fable after sharing a very passionate and confessing one week with her. Once they return to their town Drew leaves Fable in a note stating he cannot be with her. SCB is again in both Fable & Drew’s POV; I love that I am able to get into both their heads and know how they feel about each other.

The roles were a bit revered in SCB. I felt Drew helped Fable a lot more in this book when previously Fable helped Drew cope with his Step Mother, Adele. He really stepped up in this book compared to the last book; he wanted Fable, wouldn’t let her go, and even fought for her. I enjoyed him so much more in SCB, he grew up and changed a lot since he walked away from Fable. I felt like I was given closure to all the craziness of Adele and Drew from the last book. I agree with the author that I felt sad for Adele by the end; I know I shouldn’t but I did. Though she is not in the book much she gave me the total creeps still!

He needs me now more than ever. I hope I can be enough for him. I hope we can be enough for each other.

I don’t think I felt the spark in this book that I did in One Week Weekend. I guess I prefer the crazy drama a bit more. Yes there was drama in SCB, don’t get me wrong just not really until the end and even that did not last very long, I was hoping it was a bit more of the story. I do love the relationship Drew & Fable now have. It seems healthy and stable, something they both need desperately. I really hope their story continues. I would love to see them get married, have babies and live happily ever after.

Drew was never on my book boyfriend radar but he sure is now! Drew and his poetry can do whatever they want to me! I’m on the Drew fan train now!

“I’ll always save you. You never have to worry about that.”

I give Second Chance Boyfriend 3 Stars

    Excerpt from the Author. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!

  • ♥Rachel♥

****Spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read One Week Girlfriend****

Second Chance Boyfriend was a perfect ending to the Drew+Fable story! I adored these characters and their emotional story in One Week Girlfriend, so I picked this up as soon as I finished OWG.

Our story picks up two months after One Week Girlfriend with Fable heartbroken and trying to move on after Drew basically dropped off the planet two months ago. You can’t really blame Drew, because seriously this guy had a whopper of a revelation from that evil witch Adele!! HATE HER!!! Rest assured the pain doesn’t last for long and we are soothed and consumed with lusty moments and steamy scenes! Oh Drew and Fable are such a magnetic couple and their desire for each other is palpable and so very sweet!! I reveled in their happiness, because these two deserve it!!

God, he is so stinking cute and he’s all mine. Mine, mine, mine. We’re pretending we’re perfectly normal and we’re not. We’re both all sorts of messed up….
More than anything, I know I love him. And Drew loves me. Even though we haven’t said it to each other yet, I know deep in my heart it’s the truth.

This is not to say there weren’t bumps in the road, how can there not be with the situations Drew and Fable have to deal with. I will say that I was entirely happy with what happened to Adele in the end. Does that make me evil and unfeeling? Maybe, but I don’t care! She was not sorry and let’s face it, she would do it again given another opportunity! *shudders* She’s a train wreck waiting to destroy another’s life. So, no, I’m not sorry for how I felt about what happened to her!!

My heart soared reading Drew and Fable’s lovely and moving romance!! *sigh* It was an utterly satisfying conclusion! Monica Murphy has been put on my “automatic buy list” after finishing! She managed to sweep me up with her intense and compelling story!

I just met the author at an event, and I’m happy to report that we’ll get a novella of them in the future! And we have a companion novel centering on Jen and Colin’s story,
Three Broken Promises, set to release December 10th of this year. I can’t wait!!

  • Mafi

A very good read, although I still liked the first one better. Fable is still a very likable character. I was glad even though Colin is very hot and very mysterious, the author didn't take the easy way out by exploiting the Colin angle and turning this into an unnecessary love triangle. I liked that it was really about Drew and Fable dealing with what happened during the first book.

Plus, I did get a beautiful and believable HEA that I wanted. I enjoyed it very much!! Can't wait for Colin's book.
