Bridge Novella Between Trial by Fire and Ring of Fire (All Fired Up Series)...

Annika is a beautiful cop with a troubled past who specialises in investigating arson while Sam is a hot-shot cop from a privileged background on his way to the top. It might seem that these two would have nothing in common apart from the job, and that's what Annika thought, but the chemistry between them jumps off the page. Wonderful fast-paced romantic suspense with plenty of action, mystery, and sexual chemistry to light up the pages.

This is the 4th book I read by Taylor Lee. I'm sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 2 because it didn't grab my interest.

  • Rosemary Hughes

I read this a part of "A Valentine She'll Remember" box set.

She was like a Nordic beauty, but due to childhood experiences, she was cold as ice, especially to those who wanted more than a friendly relationship.
He was a hot cop, capable and good-looking, self confident and charming. However, he may have met his match.

Hot read but some dialogues can be offending.. so many cliches.

    Summary:
Commander Sam Carter (introduced in book 2: Trial by Fire)is a "hotshot" cop learning techniques from the Lead Detective Nate Stryker. Annika is a fire inspector (known as the Ice Princess) has been brought in to investigate a series of fires in Chicadia Falls, MN. Annika is accustomed to doing things on her own, not just in her profession but in her personal life as well. Unlike Sam who's had a privileged life, Annika comes from a past that has only added to her cold exterior. Can Sam melt the ice that Annika is so bent on holding on to?

    My Review:
There was insta-chemistry between Annika and Sam. I liked that it was stretched out a little despite the fact it was a novella. Loved that Nate, Erin, Connor, and Katilin were in this book and they helped Sam and Annika find their fire. I've read a few suspense books, so guessing who the culprit was, really was a no brainer. The scenes are steamy and like the previous books in this series.. so fitting and appropriate considering the background of the characters.

This series is such an enjoyable read.. cannot wait for the upcoming books.

Annika is a blond, and beautiful cop with a troubled past. She grew up in foster care. A lot of her foster dads had groped her. Making her afraid to be with any man. Sam is a hot-shot cop that is good at his job. The two have different backgrounds and the only thing they have in conmen is the job they do. Sam senses Annika’s fear of sex, and men, and wants to be the one to break though that ice, and fear. They also have to find out who is starting the fires. This book has mystery, sexual chemistry, and action. The story line itself was good.

    Sample from chapter 12
At some deep level, Annika understood the brilliance of what Sam was doing. Absorbed with the blindfold, the cuffs, the sensation of being restrained, she’d forgotten her fear of making love. Instead she was doing what he told her to do. To feel. All of her sensations raced madly through the various gears, and were now on overdrive.

Still the same issue as I have the the series. The editing is not tight enough. There are many misspellings, made-up words (signally for signaling)? and bad grammar to taint my enjoyment of the story.

Also, a slight problem with the romance in this one. A little too pandering for me, and a stereotype I don't appreciate.
