Attack on Titan, Vol. 6 (Attack on Titan, #6) Reviews

This is where the story starts getting really interesting for me. The "aberrants" and the Titans that are made up of humans lend a real interesting twist, but this female really seems to kick a lot of ass.

I also love the whole discussion of trusting your team versus your own intuition. There's definitely no strict answer here. Especially since I know what's in store, this becomes even more interesting in light of Erin's current choice.

A lot of hard-won lessons are going to get upset, sadly. *sigh*

“There's something I firmly believe in: the people who have the ability to change something in this world. All, without exception, have guts to abandon things important to them if they have to. They are those who even abandon their humanity if they're pressed hard to outdo monsters. People who can't throw away something important can never hope to change anything!”

I'm beyond addicted at this point.
    Amazing!

    Spoilers

So we've got the female titan out looking for Eren and just in general fucking things up. Why you gotta kill the horses? She seriously just chucks them.

Here's something I'd like to point out though. The art, as a whole, isn't really that great. I think Isayama does a great job portraying movement and tense, suspenseful action, but most of the time the art is pretty messy. There are moments though where I see potential for something more polished, like this:

But then just a couple of pages before that we got this:

It took me way too long to try to figure out what was going on in the top right panel.

The story is actually really entertaining now, but I just wish the quality of the art matched it.

Well that was quick! I feel like they kind of held back the action in last few volumes, but in this one, all hell broke lose. I don't think I'll be able to stop until I read every volume that's currently out.

    On to the next one!

    5 starsss
(i skipped some volumes because why not?)

  • Maria

    sooooo goooood

  • Henk

Very good and tense, this venture into Titan land. A gambit is up in the air to the very last, while Eren builds up new relationships
Now think. Use the modest intellect you do posses - Captain peak coolness Levi

There is a chase that makes this volume very exciting, nicely paced with Eren learning to trust the survey corps more.

Target is accelerating made me laugh, no you are the target and the hunter is accelerating towards you dear man. But Levi his plan is impressive. A good and tight volume, this one!

definitely the best volume so far. the character moments are super sweet and memorable and the action sequences are so hype. i didn't know that graphic novels could be this vivid, until i finally dipped my toes into some manga.

the female titan arc is one of my absolute favourites in the anime, and it's interesting to see it play out on a page with even more details making up the mystery.

say what you want about isayama's art style, but it is EXPRESSIVE. there are definitely a few issues with clarity, especially during the action sequences and it probably helps that i've watched the anime and know what to expect and who's who. i can see it being a little muddled otherwise. but i think the art really shines in emotional, character-heavy moments (which are usually my favourite parts!)

  • Tina Haigler

Another action packed adventure with a nicely done flash back. This volume was more about adapting to new situations, believing in each other and your squad leaders, and the art of tactical maneuvering. Levi really is a genius. We didn't really get any answers about the abnormal titan in this one, except one, so I'm on to read the next volume. Cheers!

  • Krystal

Wow I am officially invested in figuring out what the deal is with the titans!

Also, I want more Hange experiments! FOR SCIENCE!

Lots of fun in this volume - a good blend of action, story progression, character development, and good, old-fashioned blood and guts.

    ONWARD!

A much shorter volume, yet it was one of the most interesting ones yet. The introduction of a new type of titan and the mystery around its purpose made for an intriguing and gore-filled run, but the artwork is still pretty amateur most of the time. There was also a huge focus on trust, both in one's self and in one's team. I still find that there's too much spelled out for the reader in the character's thoughts, but I'm just going to go on with this series thinking that it's the author's style.

I wish Goodreads would let us give half stars because this is definitely more of a 4.5 than a 4 star read. This volume was really fast paced and intense. It was filled with great character development and action. I love the setting of the titan forest and I can't wait to spend more time in the titan forest in the next volume.

Which part of team work is the best you forgot Eren and you brought us to episode 87?!

  • Nərmin

Intense... with anime soundtracks twice more intense!
It is nice to see Eren becoming more mature and calm. Maybe thanks to Levi?
I wish I hadn't spoiled myself with the female titan. I know who she is, but still I wonder how she became a titan.
I love characters more and more now. I even liked Jean! He has become a nice guy even though he still express his feelings openly. I think I like that character of his.
By the way, I like the art now as well. It is nice to see that authors develop their artstyles with more practice.

  • Brandon Baker

Love the inclusion of the abherant titans; the female one is absolutely insane!!

  • Rob

    Story
Big questions from this one, and if I hadn't been hooked on it before, I certainly would now. Questions introduced in this volume are a large part of why I had to jump into the manga after the anime ended.

It's really transitioned from a monster/survival story to something much deeper at this point.

    Artwork
I'm going to be redundant and say while it's improving with each volume it still doesn't hold up as well as anime.

  • Sara Salehi

Reiner deserves the best actor award for his performance 👀

  • Filipa

I would like to apologize to my wallet in advance for the colossal damage I'll be making when buying all of the manga!

  • Lila

Jean's personality finally coming to light!

Can't wait for Eren to figure out his power. It's fun reading this already knowing what will happen so I can see the more subtle clues.

  • Sara Saif

Those bastards went through all of that to capture the female titan! I didn't realize this when I was watching the anime. Oof, the pains they go through at the hands of titans.

I read this book via Kindle Unlimited.

The Survey Corps have begun their mission, deep into Titan territory in order to work out what secrets are held in Eren's old basement. We see them split up and search for safe routes but they are suddenly under pressure when an abnormal titan seems to be chasing them. But she doesn't want to eat them like normal titans do, and she's looking for somebody...Eren. There were a couple of moments in this book I really enjoyed; firstly, we get to see how genuinely intelligent Armin is. He is the first one to work out that this Titan isn't just a normal titan, like Eren, this titan is a human. Secondly, we get to see Eren begin to trust his team, and in return, they to him. It's about time we start to see that happening and I hope it continues. I wonder who is inside this new titan and what their purpose is in hunting down Eren.

  • Maria Starkov

This was such an intense volume. The trust built, the hope for the future, whatever it is, is just so realistic, at least I feel that way towards these feelings. Everyone just wants to survive in the way that they believe is the better one.
Another thing that I find even more interesting about the manga is the characters. They are realistic. There is fear in their eyes, not glorious confidence and courage all the time. Each of them is different due to their past, their beliefs and I think that is one of the aspects that make this story, as a whole, a great representation of what takes to be human.

  • Dylan Williams

This series just keeps getting better and better!

  • Diba Tano

How great can a good be if the human life in its way isn't considered an obstacle?

Any way that being said, the characters are still unbelievably well-written, I'm in awe. Plus the drawings are simply astonishing.

    5⭐️ Review:

Levi: “I don’t know the answer. I never have. Whether you trust in your own strength…or trust in the choices made by reliable comrades. No one knows what the outcome will be. So, as much as you can…choose whatever you’ll regret the least.”

This volume was so intense from beginning to end. But, it also had funny moments, mainly all from Levi. How can anyone not love him?

My favorite quotes from this volume:

-Reiner: “I saw the flare indicating an abnormal…was that it? The one with the nice ass?”

-Levi: “I know he’s a true monster. It’s got nothing to do with his titan power. No matter how much he’s held back…no matter what cage he’s in…no one can force him…to submit.”

-Levi: “Then we would cut off your hands and feet…they’d grow back anyway, like a lopped-off lizard’s tail. Right? Disgusting…” (This one made me laugh, his facial expression was too good.)

    -Levi: “…Took that four-eyed annoyance long enough…”

-Levi: “What, were you taking a long shit?”
    Hange: “No, that went smoothly…”

    And lastly:

-Levi: “I just hope whoever it is hasn’t pissed themselves.”

Levi is truly the comedic relief of this volume.

  • Kesa

How come I was so oblivious when I watched the anime? Another great volume. Action packed, well-written and tight art!
Last volume my sister has so I'm probably going to read them digitally in English now.
