Walt Disney's Dumbo Reviews

They do a great job taking the movie Dumbo that Disney did and adapting that to a little book. The artwork is right from the movie. It’s a sweet story about taking your differences and making them work for you, if you can only accept them.

Any Disney fan out there will enjoy these books as it really reminds you of the movie. I love the scene with the crows. They are some of the best. The kids have never been Dumbo fans. We did see the movie remake they did and it was good, maybe even better, but it’s not not a beloved story for them.

A wonderful classic story for children. One of my favourite stories.

My love of reading started when i was young, and it gives me immense pleasure to provide books to Spread the Word Nevada, an organization that passes them on to children in the community. They are a terrific organization supporting an important cause. If your local I encourage you to check them out. For those living further a field, look in your own community, their may already be a similar program in place. And if not, you can always help start on.

Myself, I go out on the weekends and
shop thrift store and bulk book lots to rescue books and donate them. Sometimes I'll find a book I remember reading when I was young and will read it again before passing it on.

I don't rate these books using my normal scale, instead I give most of them three stars. This isn't a Criticism of the book, simply my way of rating them as good for children.

This is a book version of the Disney film.

  • Katherine Kapellen

    Dumbo,
I wish i could give it 5 more stars. This book is such an amazing read. It grabs you from the beginning. The beautiful pictures/graphics really bring it home. This bpok touches on so many things, a mothers love, accepting unforseen situations as well as accepting yourself no matter how different you may seem from everyone around you. A beautiful story told in such a grab you by the heart strings way. Read this book, it will really stick with you long after you turn the last page.

    **SPOILER ALERT**
This book is so relatable. Dumbo is a young elephant with an abnormality - he has humongous ears!
All the other elephants in the circus made fun of him. On his first day in the circus a couple of boys teased him and his mother (Ms. Jumbo), being overprotective, tried to scare the children away. The circus master kept her locked up! This kept them separated. But Dumbo unlocked a new power - the power to fly!

    A truly enjoyable read!

    Yours truly,
    Ahana:)

Such a sweet children book. I read them with my children many years ago and now I'm passing them on to my grandchildren

Dumbo was a very small baby circus elephant who had very big ears. His ears always got him into trouble, but then he was made a circus clown. One day he discovered his ears helped him fly, which made him the star of the show.

While some elements are problematic in hindsight, I do still love the movie and this Little Golden Book is a great little adaptation of that tale. I've always loved Dumbo.

  • Angelica Kennedy

Traditional Disney movie. It completely lost me at Dumbo’s mama dying.

  • Lauren

This book always made me sad when I was a kid, I didn't really like reading it. It has a good life lesson to never give up and kept trying but it was never one of my absolute favorites.

  • Janice

I am not a good one to rate this book.

  • Kenneth Flores

    Loved it!

This book is about a little elephant named Dumbo. He has big ears and everyone makes fun of him. One day, Dumbo realizes he can use his big ears to fly. I love this story. I would use it to teach about how to use our imperfections for good.
