Environmental Microbiology examines the applications of microorganisms to environment, public health, industry and agriculture. This text attempts to bring all scattered material on applied effects of microorganisms on environment, human health and welfare together in the form of a complete book on environmental microbiology. Besides students, the book would interest those inclined to learn how microbes help maintain the quality of environment and balance of nature.

Environmental Microbiology Reviews

  • Elle Feeney

I read this book (with the exception of the agricultural chapter) to refresh my memory on microbiological techniques prior to taking a course in environmental microbial assessment. I found that it provided an adequate overview of the main concepts in environmental microbiology, although many of the diagrams are difficult to decipher and provided more frustration than information. Also, there are several typos and grammatical errors within the text, and often one idea was repeated numerous times within a paragraph, which lead to some very tedious explanations of concepts. Overall, I would recommend this textbook as a supplementary reading for someone who has a background in microbiology and would like to see how they can apply that to environmental sampling techniques.
