Broken Promise (Promise Me, #2) Reviews

I could not stop reading this book. I am not sure what is going to happen in book 3. I can not believe I like this one as much as I do. I bought book 3 before I even finished book 2 so it would be in my Kindle ready to go.

I don't love Sar. I think the comment someone made that she does not know what she wants Theo or Daniel is correct.

Broken Promise picks up right where Promise Me, the first book in the series, leaves off. (This is a hint that this review will contain spoilers for Promise Me. It's difficult to review book 2 of a series without revealing a few things about book 1.)

The title is also a hint and a half. Danial broke all of his promises to Sar. Over and over and over. Have you ever heard the old joke about the three biggest lies? Number 1 is the one about the check being in the mail. Danial, even though he's a vampire, managed to break number 3. The one that goes, "I can't get you pregnant". He took some really magic potions so he could. The big problem was the he forgot to tell Sar. She found out when she miscarried. Then she left his lying arse. Of course, this was after she gave him her oath of loyalty. It figures.

And the vampire is possessive. Of course he is. It's all part of the power trip. He may actually love her, but his definition of love is very last millennium. And then there's Devlin the Vampire King, who just so happens to be his brother. And a little bit too bwahaha crazy into the bargain.

So Sar and her oath to Danial, along with Danial's lying to Sar, get caught in Danial's power battle with his crazy brother. A battle that's been going on for centuries. They're vampires.

And even though Sar has given her oath to Danial, she realizes that she made a mistake in more ways than one, because she either doesn't love him or falls out of love with him.

All along, she's had a terrific, bantering friendship with the head of Danial's bodyguards, Theo. Except that the banter has been concealing some feelings that are much more than friendship. And Theo isn't a vampire. He's a were-cougar. Sar seems determined to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire.

At least were-cougars are not immortal. Of course, that means that Danial might murder his former bodyguard. Unless the vampire king kills them all in a crazed fury first.

Escape Rating C+: For a widow who spent a year keeping to herself, once Sar got back into the game, she really got back into the game. That's not a criticism of her deciding not to stay home and mourn, but she does have a tendency to leap before she looks.

Danial was a mistake, and Theo, while he may be a much better guy, she's still staying in the supernatural world where she keeps putting her life in extreme danger. Adrenaline-junkie, maybe?

Then there's the half-demon, Terian, waiting in the wings.

While Darian's conflict with his brother, Devlin, created a lot of the external tension, and ratcheted up the suspense factor, Devlin's motives, or Devlin's insanity, seemed a bit too over-the-top for this reader.

I did like seeing how Sar helped Theo resolve his issues with being a were-cougar. There was a lot of healing in their relationship that worked well. I enjoyed their banter from the beginning of the series.

The epic continuation of the Promise me series!

    5^^^^^ stars from me

The second installment is simply amazing, is a rollercoaster of intense emotions, suspense and action. One thing that i truly liked was the dark vibe that was in the most part of the story and the pace was steady. The love triangle make the book even more interesting and the many twists raised the level even more for me, so it's very difficult to think what else will see in the third installment.

My favorite character was definitely Theo, i loved his gentle heart his caring personality. And i have to say that i liked how Sar's character evolved and i got really angry by Danial's actions i didn't understand them at all. Furthermore Terian's character brought a really interesting vibe in the story. The ending was definitely a cliffhanger for me i can't wait to read the closure of the series.

    Thrilling and Horrific

Sarelle, who loves all living things and once rescued a dying vampire by giving him her own blood, has reached a cross roads in her life. Her vampire lover has betrayed her and she has returned to her solitary life while she rethinks her situation. Almost immediately two new suitors present themselves – Terian the demon and Theo the were cougar. Will she return to Danial or choose one of the others?
Broken Promise, the sequel to Promise Me, is as beautifully-written, but considerably darker that its predecessor. I loved the characters and the plot but was horrified by the sadistic scene of "vampire justice". In fact, I had to leave it a few days before I could write the review. But I liked the end.

Ms Fox Hall’s depiction of the shadow world of vampires, demons and were creatures is utterly convincing. Do not read this alone at night unless you are very brave indeed.

With Broken Promise Tara Fox Hall has once again justified her right to the title of Vampire Queen.

Broken Promise was a page turner, it was one of those books I didn't put down until I was finished. I had to find out what was going on. What a love quadrangle, lol. Once the dust settled for the happy couple, I did not expect one of the twists in events. While trying to move on from the drama, the past comes back to bite the in the a**. I'm definitely not mentioning any of the book for this review, you're going to have to read it to see who she picks, lol.
    A must read!

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about the book and also a few things I didn't. Let's talk about what I didn't like first and get that out of the way. I didn't like that there really wasn't any refresher at all. I read a lot and there were a lot of books that I picked up between this one and the last one. Read the rest of this review here:

“Broken Promise” : Book Two Does Not Disappoint

I initially started reading this story before noticing the author’s note and realizing that it was book two in the series. Don’t do that. The stories must be read in order, otherwise things become rather confusing.

Having read book one in this series, “Promise Me,” I was happy to find that this sequel did not disappoint. Danial and Sar’s romance has been tested, and other supporting characters are added to the mix, complicating things and keeping them interesting at the same time.

I came away from book one a bit annoyed with Danial, but still hopeful that things could and would work out between him and Sar. Like book one, the characters are well rounded, each one multi-dimensional, including supporting characters.
I’ve enjoyed learning about Sar, Danial, and the secondary characters in this series thus far, and fully intend to continue reading. In the midst of immediate danger, both Sar and Danial maintain an understated, endearing sense of humor. I recommend this series to vampire romance lovers.

Darker than "Promise Me" and filled with action and romance...
Broken Promises is a darker story than the first book Promise Me and starts out with Sar being betrayed by Danial. It is action packed, romance-filled, funny and has its dark moments. While Sar goes off to deal with Danial's (vampire), Terian (demon) confesses his desire and kisses Sar. This is witnessed by Theo (were-cougar) who becomes angry and confronts Sar.

In this paranormal romance/desire filled menage and more love tangle who will Sar choose. This is a definite page turner and all-nighter. I wonder what Ms. Hall will write next....

By the end of the first book, I was rooting for Sar and Danial, in spite of being slightly annoyed with his half-truths. Book 2, however, kept me very interested because Sar had more than one man to choose from. I had always felt that Sar had a connection with Theo and to have that explored was wonderful. Book 2 continues to flesh out the characters and make them as real as can be. There's a few sad parts that hurt your heart and a lot of fast paced action to move things along nicely. Great romance with a side of action-adventure!

    Edgy, Had My Heart Racing!
I enjoyed the sequel to Promise Me. It was totally engrossing and well written. There were times I wanted to throttle Sarelle. Then again, I've never been in her shoes and probably would have been just as conflicted - at times. I loved the way the Author kept you on your toes, anxiously awaiting what came next - then just as thrilled at the outcome of what came next.
    Awesome book and thoroughly enjoyable.

After reading Promise Me I couldn't wait to get my hands on Broken Promise and just like the first book I couldn't put it down.
I loved how Tara Fox Hall makes you feel like you are right there with the characters. I felt this was the perfect continuation to Promise Me!
    Now onto book three.
