1. Get her parents back together
2. Organize a stellar prom
3. Find the perfect date
Finding the perfect date--an excerpt from Do Over:
I read, “Would you rather have someone run their fingertips or fingernails over your wrist?”
Trey’s eyebrows lifted. “I don’t know. Show me.” He flipped his hand over, palm up with the back of his hand against the black foam bar.
I swallowed and ran my fingertips over the blue veins on his wrist. His fingers twitched. I looked into his eyes when I lightly scraped my nails over the same spot. His fingers flexed and touched the back of my hand. His eyes widened and dilated. His dark green gaze dropped to my mouth.
I took my hand away. “Which one?”
“Yes,” he said. “Both.”

3 sugary sweet, nostalgic stars
PROM.
*This story reminded me a bit of MTV’s Laguna Beach, and Prom (that Disney film).
I’d have to say the cute fluff factor was at a 10. Although, the story was a bit too sweet, formulaic, and predictable for my tastes, it worked. And I liked it. The plot basically revolved around Paisley (& the drama surrounding the PROM committee she was in), as well as, her quest to find the perfect prom date. It's fairly easy to predict the outcome of the story, but I enjoyed it, nevertheless.
I would've liked to see a bit character development, though. Also, most of the "issues" Paisley dealt with seemed rather trivial, but I guess in HS, those things might seem really important. Still, a fun, light read, if you want to take a trip down memory lane. -
“I want a do over...
...I want to start over. Start here...
...I want you. Only you. I want that Do Over.”
It was a nice mix of friendship, blossoming romance, high school drama, and family issues. Some of my favorite moments were definitely the ones between Trey & Pez. Those moments for me were not only sweet and "awww"-worthy, but it was also funny. I think the only problem I had with this book was it was kinda short, thus the story was a little bit rushed. With this, the conflict & climax were not that given much thought. But in other things, I really had fun with them!
I did enjoy this one, so 3.5 stars! -
A high school coach father who allows his daughter to massage the star football player but won't let her date him??? Just one of the weird unrealistic plot points in this book. Despite that, not bad for this genre...
-
Too short! It was good! But the ending left me craving more. Like the author decided she didn't want to write anymore and just hurried and hacked away important shit to finish it up.
-
This story is a romance. Pez is forced to interact with the jocks her father coaches. She finds one of them attractive, but she recognizes that he's promiscuous and isn't generally into jocks, so doesn't act on it. Over the course of the story, they get to know each other better and develop a relationship. There is some tension before they act on their attraction, and there are difficulties they overcome when they start having a relationship, but the author doesn't unnecessarily draw out the problems, and Pez doesn't spend all her time wallowing in thoughts about the relationship - she's got things to do after all.
I love that the author avoids the standard YA tropes and tendencies. There's no love triangle, insta-love, or angst. The girl doesn't feel unworthy of attention and she doesn't need - or get - a makeover. She's popular and good at school without being a genius or a goddess. The boy has no impulse control issues and wasn't her best friend from when they were kids. Nobody is abused or bullied. Mind you, I've loved stories that had all of these things, but it's refreshing to see YA romance that doesn't use any of them.
Highly recommended if you like YA romances. -
Let me start by saying why I rated this 5 stars. Before I read any NA books or YA books - Emily Evans is and will always be one of my favorite authors. Nowadays, books tend to have a lot of sex scenes (including mine, lol) in them but I think the sweetest books are the ones that make you feel all the emotions and the anticipation without the actual "sex" parts.
I will always be a fan of Emily Evans :)! -
I pretty much devoured this from start to finish in just a couple of hours. I couldn't put it down! It was addicting, funny, sweet and just so full of romance that I didn't want it to end! I just LOVE Trey! I will definitely be re-reading this! :-)

I cannot count how many times I giggled. Yes, giggled. Cute.
-
really enjoyed. Paisley is a great character but I would have liked to hear more about Ashton and more from trey
-
at the beginning, it was kinda confusing. This is the kind of book that doesn't bother to explain the setting, the problem, the characters. The readers will just have to pretend they know the characters already lol. It worked for me. I love books like that actually but the effect on this book with that particular technique is confusion :P. But when I grew to love the characters. I actually liked Paisley even though she said something pretty offensive about developing countries. And about proms too. I can't believe she's basing the economic status of countries on how they spend their proms.
Oh. and even though the characters and the writing is worth 5 stars,I rated it overall 3 stars because of the shallowness. PROM? PROOOOMMM? REALLY? Oh well, even though I did not find Trey THAT hot.. maybe just a little but I like him. And Paisley's thoughts about fashion and how people dress is ridiculous and dragging! I mean, I LOVE clothes but she just goes on about how people dress and how they SHOULD dress. I was so relieved she did not start judging people of how they look.
Despite all that, I really liked Trey and Paisley. I think Evans has a knack of writing good characters but she dwells too much on her two protagonists that the minor characters appear pretty minor. LOL. no, I mean the minor characters are also good ones and I see a lot of potential in them...like Paisley's Dad, Star (i love star!!! haha), her bestfriend and the Sparkle committee (SPARKLE?! ewwww. :<) and of course the jocks!
if there would be a part 2 I would gladly read it!
oh and the title made no sense at all. ha-ha.
and even though the cover is worth 1 star (don't judge XD) the story is good (despite the Prom shallowness) Paisley and Trey is cute together :3 And Star is an uber supportive future step-mom even if Paisley won't admit it :)))) -
I love that Emily Evans' heroines aren't afraid to speak up. Paisley is effortlessly confident and talks circles around anybody who'll listen. I like that she doesn't overthink things. There's something satisfying about characters that are self-assured enough to be flirty without freaking out over everything. I liked that Paisley knows what she wants.
Paisley's crisis is planning prom. I was pretty darn angry along with Paisley with what happened to her plans. It was really infuriatingly unfair.
Aster is Paisley's dad's girlfriend. She's a cheerleader and she's ditzy – no surprises there. But Aster backs Paisley up when no one else will, so I kind of started to like her.
Paisley's dad is a coach and obsessed with sport and everything to do with sports.
To him, parents who failed to show up at their kid’s games ranked somewhere between mothers who gave birth in public bathrooms and serial killers.
Paisley works with her father and so she's around jocks all the time. She thinks they're a brainless bunch. But she understands the way they work too and she doesn't mind it when her father delegates football-player tasks to her. She even helps them with college planning. I love that she knew how to play them.
But with her father the coach, all the boys steer clear of Paisley and warn other boys to watch their step. All Paisley's dates have been very respectful.
Trey is a serial womaniser.
Paisley to Trey - “Like three dates in one night. You’re kinda a pro. Or a perv.”
He's also extremely reticent. Ridiculously so. You might miss out on the clever banter, but Trey makes up for it by his actions. He even wins Paisley back over with an object. You gotta love a guy who puts his money where his mouth is.
Verdict: The story was not exactly flowing or coherent. But it's Emily Evans so it still rocked. -
Emily Evans books are always awesome and this one was no different. Definitley a great read. Emily Evans never ceases to amaze me with her light, yet extremely fun books. Do Over was really good and here is why.
THE PROS
1. The characters. I loved everyone in this book, which is unusual because normally I always find a character to hat.
2. Pez's name. Okay, so her middle name is by far the funniest thing ever. I laughed so hard when I read it. And on top of that her first name isn't to good either. :)
3. I love how she is still working to get over her parents divorce and her father's upcoming marriage.
4. The events that occured in the book. Every single thing that hapened added to the story. There was no fluff/unneeded nonsense.
Okay so I have more pros, but since I'm not in a listing mood I'll leave it at that.
THE CONS
Normally in a review this is the part I hate to write and I hate to read this part in other reviews, unless of course the reviewer and I share a mutual hate about the same part in a book. So here is the good news, I don't have any cons. Yes you read right, NO CONS!!!
OVERALL
I loved this book. It was worth the time it took to read and the space it took up on my Kindle. Emily Evans did it again and wrote another amazing book which I could not put down! :)
WOULD I READ THIS BOOK: YES
WOULD I BUY THIS BOOK: YEP
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK: To readers looking for a light fun read. Definitley appropriate for young adults. :)
WOULD I READ OTHER BOOKS BY THIS AUTHOR: YES (ex. The Accidental Movie Star, The Boarding School Experiment, Epic Escape, and a couple of others) -
This would be get 3.8 stars. The title do gave me a sense of some crazy game show but nonetheless the story was captivating. Trey's affection was a surprise and also a non-surprise, i was expecting him to be the one to snag Pez but God they were hot hot HOT, the scenes that they do sneak out was hotter than the other two books from my now newly favored author Emily Evans. Pez was not really described in here but I have to mAke do on all that graphic touching and steamy kissing it makes me ache to find my first kiss.
The Tent burning was knack of finishing and Pez and Trey as a couple is such a jewel they shine through and through! Soo glad they were the Prom King and Queen, they are perfect for each other im surprised no one had though about it once!

Paisley (AKA Pez) is in charge of planning an epic prom. All she needs is a date. Too bad she mostly hangs out with jocks, which she'd never date, since she's the coach's daughter. It turns out that Pez has a lot more to worry about after they lose their prom funding to buy Tron the Jumbotron. And as much as she wants an artsy man, she can't seem to stay away from Trey, the jock, man-whore, star soccer player. Did I mention her dad's new fiance, the NFL cheerleader? You know, this isn't some deep, earth-shattering, soul-moving story. It's fun and sweet, and I read the whole thing with a smile on my face. I loved Paisley. I thought she was strong, smart and witty. She's very into fashion, and I didn't think I'd end up liking her, but she's actually a really good person. And even though Trey was a man-whore, he was actually a really decent guy. Very swoon worthy. I thought this was a really great story, and I appreciate that it didn't need a bunch of cuss words and sex to make it great. Don't get me wrong, many of my favorite books have those things, and if it works for the story, I love it. But this story was really great even without it, and that's refreshing sometimes. Loved it :)

I chose to read Do Over because, while it only had a few reviews on Amazon, they were all pretty good. One review in particular, the one that ultimately led to my purchase, said that it was refreshing to read about a girl with confidence rather than a shy girl with low self-esteem. After reading, I agree, it was nice. It was also nice that there was far less whiny drama than usual. Of course there was plenty of drama and some was whiny, it wouldn't be young adult romance without some, but there was less. Mostly I think I didn't love this story because I didn't really like the main character, Paisely. She wasn't bad but she wasn't someone I would care to befriend. You might like her though. You never know until you read it.

Cute.
All though, from the title and the cover, I was kind of expecting it to be a little like Groundhog Day or
11 Birthdays. So I was kind of... annoyed that the only reference to a 'Do Over' and a 'Do Over stone' was at the beginning and the end of the book, and none of those times did it hold any importance, other than the main characters wishing for a Do Over.
But eh.
Maybe it's just me. -
Okay, wtf did I just read? :O
The book did not actually made any sense and there is no depth at all. The chapters of the story is abrupt and I'm a bit confused because it just moved from one thing to another thing.. This is just my opinion, and other people may felt the oppsite way I'm feeling but I don't know. Maybe this book is just not for me:( -
Very sweet, pleasant and relaxing book. Loved it!
-
This was a cute story. Well written

Cute read.

Book #9 for 2013
-
Another Emily Evans' creation.
Looking forward for more.. -
I really love Emily Evans' leading men, however if I had spent all that effort in raising $50,000 and it was taken by my dad and the sports team at my school, shit would go down!
-
Just too cute.
-
Awwww! That was so fluffy and cute.
