A book about more than just cheese. It's a story of those who have made the best cheeses for generations. Everything you could want to know about almost any cheese in the world. Burrata comes from Italy, is made from cow's milk and is like "Mozzarella with a soul." Each description comes with how to serve it and what to match it with, including the right wine or beer. There are also some wonderful recipes, like Swiss Fondue and Lavender mustard. Not to mention some lovely photos. Great book!

I got this out of the library and am going to have to buy a copy. I can think of a few people I'd like to give it to as well. A very informative book about a subject I do find intimidating. I loved reading the descriptions ~ Tenaya is an amazing writer and blends her poet soul into her charismatic riffs on cheese personalities. Food and music writing are so hard, and when done poorly are particularly atrocious. Well done, it's magnificent, and brings all your senses into play ~ this book fits that bill.

The book cover is super snazzy looking, the color similar to that of dark wood cabinets. It's definitely a cheese guide; I realize that "Cheese Guide" is part of the title, but I thought it was just a cookbook for some reason. If you're looking for the recipes, I suggest that you check out the recipes that Serious Eats featured on their "Cook the Book" segment, since the recipes featured there are (in my opinion) the most interesting recipes of the book.

The Photography is beautiful, the recipes delicious, cheese blurbs informative. Great book however I had a hard time with the organization of the cheese. It wasn't organized by milk, country or type of cheese. It had cute categories such as "Vixens" and "Free Spirits" with equally cute descriptions.
The quirky fun approach to the writing grew old, fast.
When you look past this books cuteness you will open yourself to tasty cheeses and great ways to enjoy them! -
This would make a great reference book for different types of cheeses and how to make them with foods and beverages. It has a lot of little snippets of information, including a portion on how to talk to a cheese monger. It's categorized well and would be a good introductory book for anyone wanting to explore the world of cheese.

Interesting book, and the lovingly detailed descriptions of all the cheeses made me drool, but I don't know how I would ever remember all the different cheeses.
I only kept one recipe, for Cheddar Ale Soup; hope it's tasty! -
As someone who makes my own cheese, I was hoping for more. It is pretentious and inadequate.
-
I borrowed this from the library but it is so packed with good-to-know information on pairings that I may buy my own copy.

Made me want to go shopping.
