101 Melt and Pour Soap Recipes and Techniques Book Reviews
-
My spouse has been complaining about Christmas for the last three years. He does not matter the family time, but he despises having to spend 100s of dollars on overly prices Christmas gifts. Since I am quite creative, he encouraged me to start making my own crafts, that we can use as a custom and personalized Christmas gift for the ones we love.
I already looked at Dolen's book on how to make beauty products, but I wanted something even cheaper, so I decided to take a look at her book about making soap. To my surprise, I found many recipes in this book, and one of those was for a Christmas soap. Even my moms favourite Lavender soap had a recipe (mixed with rose), so what else would I need...?
Dolen explains the techniques very clearly, and after I got all the materials I need to make the soaps, it took some experimenting with getting everything right. It made the house smell soooooo nice.
My first soap fell apart as I made it too dry (I think). But since the smell was quite strong, I placed it in our garage to take away some of the musky scents. My second soap, the Lavendar & Rose one, looked and smelled really great, now I just need to work on making nice shapes (and there is also a chapter for that in Dolen's book).
This is a soap making basics book you can use like me to make your own Christmas gifts, or just for making soap for yourself. With the variety presented, there is something for everyone! -
Good recipes, interesting information about essential oils. Great info and ideas for natural colours and dyes.
Could have been formatted better.
