This is the first time that I have had the chance to read an erotic anthology.
Each story just keeps getting better and better. We get to read a story of a husband forgetting his tenth wedding anniversary. I would have taken a longer time to forgive my husband for that. Needless to say he did make it up.
In this book you will have all kinds of different experiences. Some are so hot you will be pulling out some extra toys to help you put out the flames. You will have a woman feeling bad that she will soon be a mother so she shouldn’t be getting kinky with her husband. You have a couple that are getting divorced find that extra something they had been missing.
I think one of my favorites is the woman that gets tied to a table and the meat butcher gets to have his sexy way with her. Every story is less than ten pages. After I read this book I have come up with some new ideas to try out myself.
I will warn you that when you read this book you better make sure that you have no kids around. You’ll want to jump the closest person to you. So as you read this book keep an open mind and see if you can pick out your favorite story. It might just put an extra spice into your sex life.
I just want to thank every single author that had a hand in this erotic read. I know that I will be going back to read it again and again. I would recommend this hot sexy read to everyone that just wants to have several short stories in one book. Just take a chance and open your mind to the erotic side of life. -
When sex meets love, there should be some hot sexy scenes which appeals to both the mental and emotional parts to a reader. One would expect to feel really good between the warm fuzzy love and the arousing sexual scenes. In this book, BEST EROTIC ROMANCE 2013, it falls a bit short. Each of the short stories are well written. There are no grammar issue. They are smoothly edited by Ms. Wright which is expected. What is unexpected is the lack of heat and arousal. This book is a 2.5 star because it was a bit more than okay but not enough for me to like it at a 3 star. Since I truncate, it ends up with a 2 star.
There are a couple of stories in this book which deal with infidelity which doesn’t exactly arouse. While one woman did end up leaving her apathetic husband for a more exciting and passionate man, it was rather sad. Several of the stories leaves the reader wondering where the love existed. There were a few cute ones such as the white knight rescuing a damsel in distress from a bathroom in Vegas or a Yoga partner assisting a new lover to reach unchartered heights. Still, the overall book did not illicit heated desires with passionate flames of love. This is surprising as previous Ms. Wright collections have been delicious filled with smexy hot stories. This collection of stories recommended for the romance reader who enjoys contemporary settings with reality endings.

As an avid reader of both erotic romance and erotica, this Cleis Press titled (edited wonderfully by Kristina Wright) is a terrific blending of the two genres. With some stories that are edgier than tpical erotic romance, and with some HFNs as opposed to all HEA,it is a tempestuous mix of story plots and writing styles and tones. "Waiting for Ilya" is a terrific story that illustrates how much emotional punch an erotic tale can pack as it explores an adoptive-mother-to-be's guilt over her lust for her husband as they prepare for their child's arrival. "Kiss and Make Up" is a great tug of war of forgiveness and horniness. "Three Nights Before the Wedding" had a trick ending that made me smile. As a gardner "Flowering" made me lust for such a hunky landlord, Kristina Wright's own story "Sweet Memories" with it's relationship angst and lovers' pressure had great heat to go with the sweet. But I have to say my favorite was "Cutting Out Hearts" by Kristina Lloyd, with its rough tough dominant butcher and a protagonist who gets exactly what she wants when he ties her up and talks dirty, spanking her and oh, so much more. It's just the way I like my raunchy romance stories, along with a bit of a tender exchange to round things out. Definitely recommend this great collection. And if your bent is to the erotica and more stinging stories of BDSM? Cleis has plenty to sate that appetite too!
