***YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.***
I HATED THIS BOOK.
Why, you ask?
#1. Jack is a JERK!
#2. Cassie is a MORON!
And #3. JACK IS A JERK!
Look, all this book is… is Jack and Cassie going back and forth completely destroying each other. I mean, he cheats on her with someone who he ends up getting pregnant.
Then he LEAVES Cassie to marry Miss Pregnant Lady.
And then he comes BACK to Cassie, and not only does she take him back.
Ooooh no. You want to know what she does?
She apologizes to HIM!
And then they live happily every after.
So. If you find yourself wondering as to whether you should read this book or not…
Just picture me in the back of your mind doing this:
And then if you STILL decide to read this humdinger of a book:
Well…
Questions? -
REALLY?! I MEAN, REALLY?!?!?
it would be 1 star (didn't like) but the way jack apologized in the fucking end, IN THE END, actually saved the book. i mean i was so frustrated with them! this review will contain lots of spoilers so please don't tell me you haven't been warned, because i ain't hiding them!
first:
it was like reading soft version of "beautiful disaster";
second:
all the time he called her kitten and all the time i tried to remember why is that so fucking familiar to me too, together with first one,in which book did he call her also like that all the time and also teased her about it, and then it hit me!;
third:
are you girl really so fucking stupid??!!!!!!!?!?!?! i've read books that have more irritating heroine then this, but this, this is..... arrrrgh i mean he cheats you, then he gets her pregnant then he goes and marries her (EVEN THOUGH YOU BEGGED HIM NOT TO), then he comes back but you leave, then you mope because he doesn't even bother to text you for 6 months but then he comes and then he apologizes on the most cutest way ever (this i have to admit is the reason i gave one more star) and above all of that YOU ARE APOLOGIZING TO HIM!!!!!!
WTF?!?!!?!?! IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THIS UNIVERSE??!?!?!?!?!
forth:
jack is obviously stupid! his logic is so stupid and so irritating and so "uuu i need to be punished for hurting her so i'll do everything to fuck things even more worse"...
honestly i wanted to kick them both for being so annoying!
this book started so boring then started to give a hint to become something but then jumped to soooo much drama, and then i was just rolling my eyes and wanting to end this because it was becoming so frustrating to read it!
i apologize for such a outburst but i feel better now... -
5 JACKTASTIC STARS
I absolutely adore the feeling you get when you've found an incredibly fan-f*cking-tastic book. A book that takes you from happy, to thrilled, to anxious, to sad, to gutted, to depressed, to on top of the freaking world. An amazing book to me, is a book that I will remember almost every moment once I've read it. It's a book that devours my heart, soul and mind. It sticks with me and when it ends I want to cry because I'm so attached to each of the characters, that the thought of my journey ending devastates me. That's MY mark, that tells me if a book is an absolute favorite! The Perfect Game by Jenn Sterling hit all of those points and more. I was BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!
Jack f*cking Carter is a bad ass, man whore who never sleeps with the same girl twice until he meets Cassie. He's taken with her the first time he sees her and try's to get her to go on a date with him. Cassie sees him for what he is and knows he's trouble just from looking at him. She really wants nothing to do with him but Jack is persistent and finally wears her down until she agrees to a first date. The love story that continues between them is EPIC and REAL, it gave me butterfly's and made me smile like crazy. Jack had me so completely and utterly in love with him, I couldn't see straight. Being with him is a battle for Cassie though because they both have some serious issues with trust that stem from their childhood. Cassie has daddy issues and Jack has abandonment issues that makes trusting each other hard.
"What does your heart tell you?!""Who cares my hearts dumb! It believes anything," I said, clutching my chest above my left breast. He laughed his eyes glued to my hand. "Fine. What does your head tell you then?" "My head questions everything and believes nothing." "So your head wants proof and your hearts want reassurance."
There's a specific moment in this book that rocked me. I think I stopped breathing, clutched my chest and thought I was going to die!!! I know, I know...lol. I'm being a tad bit melodramatic but I was in physical pain, my chest ached, my heart was shattered and I didn't think I'd be able to recover BUT I did!!!!! I seriously LOVE books that rock me to my core like that....I had an actual "moment" and I will NEVER forget it.
"When I told you I loved you. I meant it. I didn't mean that I'd love you only if it was easy, or only if it was drama-free. I think we both know life isn't like that." ~ Jack Carter
Jenn Sterling left me feeling like I was on a book high at the end of this. I haven't felt this strongly towards a book in awhile and it's such a awesome, refreshing feeling. In all honesty I almost didn't pick this book up but I am so glad that I did. It's a favorite of mine this year and I loved every second of reading it.
IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT READING IT, MY THOUGHTS ARE...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR. HOT SEXY BAD ASS BOY MEETS GORGEOUS, SWEET AND SASSY GIRL AND YOU HAVE THE COMBINATION FOR THE BEST ANGSY ROMANCE EVER.
P.S ~ I went a little crazy with my status updates while reading! I couldn't help it.
J. Sterlings perfect Jack f*cking Carter...YES PLEASE ;) -
*** HERE THAR BE SPOILERS. YEE HAVE BEEN WARNED ***
I have decided to petition the author to rename this book: The Perfect Lobotomy, due to all the brain cells that were destroyed during its reading.
This book was an epic...
That's right. Fail.
Never. NEVER before have I encountered two characters I actively wished death upon. I not only wished death on these characters, I wished for it to be slow and painful, preferrably consisting of some kind of flesh eating disease that rotted off body parts but kept their minds clear and lucid. Yeah. It was like that.
The beginning of this book was okay, formulaic, but okay. It's the same ole, same ole really: bad-boy, manwhore is really just *sniffle* misunderstood and needs that one girl to fix him. Y'all know the girl for the job, right? Yep, you guessed it, she's the only one around who can't stand him of course. Yeah, totally formulaic. But that I can deal with to an extent if the baser story is interesting. Only it's not. It's a maddening exercise in futility.
The author chose to show us the beginning of the relationship. The one where Jack is shamelessly chasing Cassie around poking and prodding her, vacillating between uber-jerk and charmer, all in attempt to get her to go out with him. Because folks, she's just that speshul. Once said date is secured, Jack proceeds to interrupt it halfway through to smash someone's face in. No kidding. Seriously. Then, if that's not bad enough, the author fast-forwards the timeline by one month. Huh? Excuse me? I actually had to go back to make certain I wasn't reading that incorrectly. What happened to those all important "getting to know you" aspects? Nope. Not there. Guess what, we jump back into the story and these dipshits are screwing and spouting promises of forever love.
Hold the fuck up. Really? I guess that's one way of skirting the insta-love claim. Except it's not, it's cheating. And I really, really hate cheating. It's also lazy and I hate that too.
From there the relationship between Jack and Cassie was:
Very little time is given to allow for any sort of normalcy before BAM! the first accusation of cheating pops it's furry little whack-a-mole head into the story. That's right, Jack goes to an away-game and some mean girls approach a very easily influenced Cassie with some pics of him at a hotel with another girl. She immediately believes them, though the photos were less than incriminating, and refuses to speak with Jack. Oh the swoony drama. Not. It's stupid, but I was willing to let it go and chaulk it up to young adults being young adults. Hey, I'm not that old, I remember the days, things could get pretty dramatic back them. So it got a pass. But by then I was suspicious. Why? Because it was so early in the story.
Moving on.
The two lovebirds work out their little misunderstanding and all is good (briefly) until Jack gets drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks minor league team. Shortly after which, he cheats on Cassie for reals. And this, my friends, is where the story nosedives. Grab your parachutes and walk calmly to the nearest exit because this mother is going down. Baseball super fangirl and whore (the author's words, not mine) Chrystle gets knocked up and Jack decides that doing the right thing includes dumping Cassie (the love of his life) and marrying Chrystle. And Cassie goes from broken hearted to begging for him to come back to her in 2.5 seconds. Which Jack promptly shuts down, noting that his parents ruined him by abandoning him so he must do the right thing. Remember folks, he's damaged. What in all that is holy in this world is wrong with this bitch? Can someone please tell me? Can't you please have some self-respect? Apparently not, because she even goes so far as to fly out to Alabama to beg Jack to take her back the night before his nuptials. And the asshat leaves her crying in a parking lot as he drives off with Chrystle the whore (again, the author's words, not mine). That, as they say, would have been a wrap for me. But, oh no, Cassie is far too in love to let a little pregancy and a marriage shake her resolve. BLEH. So not sexy.
Here's a list of not-sexy things for your perusing pleasure: Begging someone who's hurt you in the most heinous way to take you back, especially when they don't want to. Apologizing to the asshat for not being understanding enough to give him a chance after he's cheated, lied and MARRIED another woman. Continually chastising yourself that you should have worked harder to make things better for your lying, cheating bastard of a man. Raising a baby in a loveless marriage, because that's the way babies should grow up - who needs loving parents when you can have your sperm donor stick around to raise you?
WHAT? What the hell planet are these people living on?
Excuse me while I:
Oh, but it gets worse. From there we discover the whole "baby" thing was all just a ruse by Chrystle to get a rock on her finger and after Jack finds out, he goes running back to Cassie with his tail between his legs. It's only then that Cassie does the first sensible thing in this entire book (don't worry, it doesn't last long), she leaves for her new job in New York and tells Jack that if he wants her back he has to prove himself. So what does the asshat do to prove himself? He doesn't call or see her for six months. Yep, that's what I always do to show the people I love that I'm seeking their forgiveness. Works every time.
More fuckery ensues when Cassie finally decides to move on with another guy who takes her to...? Yep, a baseball game, where Jack just happens to be pitching. He sees her, they share a moment, and then she calls to tell him she misses him. Except he doesn't return the call. Two whole weeks go by before Jack sends Cassie a bunch of stupid gifts and then shows up on her doorstep. *SWOON-NOT* He spouts off about their mad love for each other and how they can never be apart and blah, blah, blah.
Epilogue: they move in together that night and we fast-forward a year into their happily ever after.
I call bullshit. Bullshit on Jack. Bullshit on Cassie. And bullshit on the author. This is the most absurd and idiotic relationship I have ever encountered. With the most absurd and idiotic story arcs ever. E-V-E-R. I was practically pulling my hair out during this entire book. Really, all this was was an angstfest. It went from one misunderstanding or argument to another. There was no character development, no firm story except this twisted ass love affair, and absolutely no redeeming qualities in these characters. Cassie was forever whimpering and whining about how she couldn't live without Jack and how she needed to win him back. Jack was forever whimpering and whining about how he didn't deserve Cassie while he stuck his dick in some other chick. There. I just saved you the trouble of reading this tripe.
In the final scene in the book, pre-epilogue, where Jack is spewing lovey dovey at Cassie, I know we're supposed to forgive him. Only it's too little, too late. So much fuckery has happened at that point that I simply didn't care. I hated Jack. I hated Cassie. And I couldn't have given a shit if I'd been paid to.
You want to read a book about cheating where the author actually gets it right? Read
True Love Story. Ian cheats on Sparrow and guess what? Sparrow dumps his narrow ass and it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R for this couple to get back together. By the time they do, Ian is thoroughly and undoubtedly changed. The reason I know this is because the author took her time to develop the characters before eviscerating them. You knew the before Ian and the after Ian intimately and you saw his pain and anguish as he dealt with what he'd done to Sparrow. That, is how you do a story on cheating. This, is how you kill my brain cells.
Aside from all the above noted B.S. there were other things that were just awful. Somewhere at around the 1/3 mark Cassie gets robbed and her ass beat. Like, seriously beat. Again, this book is all about the drama. The crap that went down with the police and subsequently the legal system would never have happened that way. A violent offender would never be given an opportunity to plead no contest within hours of arrest, not even in Cali. Sorry, worked in this field most of my adult life and know the system well. Does. Not. Happen. That. Way. Ever.
Other characters are one-dimensional and flat, adding little or nothing at all to the story. They're so vanilla they all sounded alike and when they were all in a scene together I couldn't tell one from another. The POV's were a hot mess. The author dedicated only a small fraction of it to Jack and it made the whole book seem stilted and unnatural. God, I could probalby go on forever, but I have other books to read. Good books. Books I'm looking forward to. Books I'm hoping will help me forget the horror I just endured.
Well fuck me running. On the author's thank you page she gives a shout out to the real Jack Carter. The world as we know it is over. This man exists somewhere out there. Hide your daughters, aunts, nanas, moms, distant cousins and not so distant cousins, and any other women you even remotely like... and maybe the silverwear and good china, too. I'm currently seeking a restraining order. -
★★★ 2.5 messed up, emotional and infuriating stars!
I mean, really…
This book... Well, this book… I can't say that I really hated it, but I also know that I didn't love it either. So, that leaves me somewhere in the middle… I guess.
***MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD***
The main reason that this book infuriated me were the two main characters and their immature behavior. Particularly that of: Jack Carter.
What. A. Jackass.
Seriously.
See, in the beginning of the story, Jack is a the typical famous playboy athlete who sleeps with a different girl every night. Then, he meets sweet and refreshing Cassie, his game changer, who doesn't fall for his usual charm. So, he decides to chase her and get her to go out with him.
Eventually they fall in love and that's when the real turbulence of their relationship starts. Because both Jack and Cassie have trust issues. So, there's lots of miscommunication, jealousy and unnecessary drama that could have been easily avoided if they would have just communicated in the first place.
Then, Jack does the unthinkable. On a drunken celebration night, he cheats on Cassie with a baseball groupie who has set her eyes on Jack and who's made herself easily available.
To make matters worse, this girl ends up pregnant so Jack leaves Cassie in order to marry his drunken one night stand who's really only after his money and fame.
Cassie, on the other hand, is hurt by his actions. Of course. But does she make him grovel? Does she turn him down when he comes begging for forgiveness after he's seen the light and divorced Chrystle's skanky ass? NO! She takes him right back and ends up being the one comforting him.
Granted, Jack did say some sweet things in the end and he did promise to make it up to her for the rest of his life but still…
By the end of the story they do get their HEA (for now). And as for the rest of the series and the continuation of their, without a doubt, dramatic love life? -
Sometimes I feel exactly like Julia Roberts, except my hair is a very unique shade of red (called brown), my lips are in proportion to my body and I would never ever teach Richard Gere how to drive a stick. So why birth this randomness?? Because every time I start a review, I kind of feel like Julia Roberts at the beginning of My Best Friend's Wedding. She slowly takes a bite, pauses, then says..."I'm writing this up as inventive...and confident." Well, a few days ago I took a rather big bite out of
JackThe Perfect Game and here's what I have to say...
I was somewhere between three and four stars for most of the book. However, somewhere in the second half there was some major five starness that jumped up and bit me on the ass. I was so confused. The star erasers had to do with the start of Jack & Cassie's relationship. The author had the perfect set up for something amazing. A buildup with so much sexual tension that I'd need a hazmat suit just to read it, but it was rushed. It came too quick; it happened too fast. Draw it out...tease me. Let me find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop! I WANT MY LICKS!
The banter had its great moments....seriously, but there were other times where the banter wasn't natural; it seemed forced. Scripted in a way. I also don't think I liked Cassie as much as I was suppose to. I didn't NOT like her, but I didn't love her either...not like I loved Jack. Maybe it was because she didn't have a penis.
Speaking of penis, did I mention how much I love Jack?? Yes, he totally broke my heart. The type of broken where my whole body tensed and I felt like I was going to be sick. But like any broken heart, it can be fixed...and Jack fixed it. The ending was absolutely amazing...A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I respect any book that can not only make me feel, but make me feel real emotions! The Perfect Game did that. J. Sterling had her finger on the pulse of something amazing. And even though it wasn't OMG great...it was a really good read that I'm glad I experienced. READ ON! -
4 Stars (Originally Read 12/14/2013)
DNF @ 34% (Re-Read 11/2/2019)
Another one bites the dust 🤦🏻♀️
I'm not quite sure what I was thinking the first time I read this....but I couldn't stand the h! She was playing stupid games of "I hate you even though I'm intrigued by you", she was a b, she was super insecure, and I really hated her "woe is me" attitude!
I know my attitude toward books has changed drastically since I first started reading romance, but I still hate it when this happens!
Oh well, on to the next! -
The Perfect Game
Ingredients:
1 cup of trust issues
1 cup of abandonment issues
1/2 cup of heartache love
1/2 cup of betrayal
a pinch of laughter
a pinch of an awesome bff
a pinch of sexy time
1/4 cup of slutiness
1 can of whoop ass
1 handful of tissues
2 boxes of "CUE FUCKING TEARS!!!"
Mix all these up and you have The Perfect Read!
Cassie Andrews and Jack "Fucking" Carter are both juniors at college.
Cassie is warned to stay away from Jack b/c he is like the BIGGEST manwhore on campus. He never...EVER...sleeps with a girl twice. She has trust issues because of her dad always promising things to her and never delivering. She has a set of rules for a happy life
#1-Don't lie.
#2-Don't cheat.
#3-Don't make promises you can't keep.
#4-Don't say things you don't mean.
Pretty simple and easy rules for anyone to follow right?
Whelp, I would think so but someone by the name of Jack "Fucking" Carter ends up breaking one or more. Which one? Oh i'm not telling. You have to read the book to find out. The one that he did break, broke my heart. I was like "OH HELL NO!!", "You F'n Tardbucket!!". I wanted to cry and shout out loud...WHYY!!!! (Like Sally Fields in Steel Magnolias).
Jack has abandonment issues from when he was a child (you're heart will just break reading about this) and so he never has had a relationship before. That is until he meets Cassie at a frat party one night. There is just something about her that pulls him in and he just can't stay away. She is his game changer. The one that he will give up anything and everything for. *sighs*
Everything seems to be going perfect until that one horrible, gut wrenching unperfect night. You would think the hurting would stop there but oh no. It continues and continues. I feel for Cassie but at the same time I would have been "Screw You Jack!!". I hate that b/c I wanted to be like "Oh you nasty little cunt bucket!!", "You twat face slut"! That said person goes on the I Hate Bekah List for sure .
I must say that Jack does redeem himself and my heart was just bursting with happiness and giddiness .
This book will have your emotions all over the place and you will enjoy every second of it.
Happy Reading :) -

After reading this you will never be able to look at a quarter the same way again. AND YES I am referring to currency that totals twenty-five cents.
"Your my game changer, you know that?"
"Game changer?" I shook my head unsure of the meaning.
"The one girl who changes everything, the one you'd give it all up for." He brushed his thumb down my cheek.
"I don't want you to give everything up."
"I know that. But here's the thing about baseball, Kitten. There's an expiration date for every single one of us that plays and we all know it. Eventually my baseball career will come to an end, and I can live with that, but I can't live without you." ~Jack and Cassie
I fell hard, HARD for Jack Carter. This man had me wrapped around his pinky. And then he crushed me, and I broke into a million tiny pieces that scattered away the second the wind blew. **sighs heavily** Why Jack?? Whhhhyyyy?!??
In
The Perfect Game Cassie Andrews a photography student in her Junior year in college meets Jack Carter the school star athlete. He is a baseball player. A pitcher with a fastball that has scouts lined up to watch him play. He is also known as a man-whore on campus. A man-whore who has never slept with the same girl twice.
When Melissa, Cassie's best-friend and roommate sees Cassie spot Jack. She puts the brakes on and asks Cassie to promise her that she will steer clear of him. Cassie promises...but it doesn't hold weight. Jack zero's in on Cassie and her constant rejection spurs him on. He wants her now and he won't stop until he gets her. And he does...he gets her.
Annnnndddd then he... Breaks. Her. Heart.
Thoughts
I loved him. I hated him. Then I fell for him all over again. I enjoyed this book it was filled with lots of witty banter between Jack and Cassie, and with Melissa and Cassie. Melissa was an excellent best-friend she kept it 100% with Cassie and never ever said things to placate her or the circumstances surrounding Jack. Jack was the epitome of a bad-boy and he played up to that role everyday of his life.
Both Jack and Cassie had parentage issues that effected them deeply. And this showed in their actions often. This book takes two unexpected turns. One felt out of place yet the author used it to her advantage. For one: It showcased Jacks alpha male 'I will kick your ass' side. For two: You really began to see through his macho male ego that he truly loves and will do anything for Cassie. The second curve ball thrown was not unexpected but was still SHOCKING and pretty much drove me insane.
I will not say more for fear of saying to much. I will say that I got my HAPPY ENDING!! **claps hands**
Fave new word
Craptitude
"Way to ruin a perfectly good moment with your craptitude"
"Craptitude?" He mocked.
"Yeah. Your crappy attitude."
Fave Line
"It cost fifty cents every time you touch me. Don't do it again." ~Cassie
This is a fave line because Jack is sure to use it to his advantage... In ways you would never imagine.lol!!!!!

If you have ever read one of my reviews you wont be surprised when I gave this book such a low rating.
I'll give you a hint ..cheating.
However, this book didn't just tell us that the cheating occurred we had to read about the event while it was in progress and it was a little sickening when Jack started thinking about how hot she was and that he wanted to f@#& her (sadly, I admit the situation was believable). That was just the start though. We then find out that after he didn't tell her about the cheating, he now has to because he didn't use protection and she's pregnant. But wait there's more.. he's going to marry her for the babies sake! Yep, so what else could happen, well Cassie decides that she still loves him and is going to try to stop the wedding. Does it work? NOPE apparently she comes in second despite her willingness to take the bastard back. He even sticks up for his fiancée and gives her a warning to stop telling her what she thinks of her. SO when Jack finds out she lost the baby, does he get a divorce? Noooo..he tells his wife he won't leave her when she whines, then we hear about him waking up with her and making plans to move to Arizona with her (BTW he already has a nickname for his new wife, "Crys"). Instead it isn't until he finds out Crys made up the whole baby thing that he goes back to Cassie and like an idiot with no self-respect, when he contacts her, she wants to be with him again.
This was definitely not a romance where I sighed and grinned with the happiness of the couple. It didn't strike me as a healthy relationship.
P.S. What kind of idiot believes that Crys was having a baby just because she said so when it was obvious she was lacking in a few morals. Just a suggestion but you could look at a pregnancy test or go to the doctors with her.... -

OK Ok... where the FUCK DO I START!
This is the story of Jack Fucking Carter and Cassie "Kitten" Andrews.
Cassie is new to the college, so when she catches the eye of the infamous bad boy manwhore superstar baseball pitcher Jack, her best friend Melissa warns her about him. He never sleeps with the same girl twice. Everyone knows this, including the girls he sleeps with.
Jack can't believe that Cassie doesn’t want him. He has given her his best smiles, pulled the dimples out, used all the right lines... Why doesn't she want him?!
He eventually breaks her down and gets her to go out with him, just one date.
That one date is the start of everything
"“This doesn't change anything," I stammered, my defences fading.
"It changes everything." He sounded so sure of himself as his soft lips silenced my weak protest.”
Jack has never had a real relationship, he has had a shit background that has lead him to have abandonment issues. Hence the manwhore thing. Don't let them close they can't hurt you right?
I've love you. I'm sure I'll fuck it up because I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Just promise me that you'll be patient with me.--Jack
Cassie has trust issues, her whole life her father has let her down with broken promises, because of this she is very guarded. She falls for Jack and gives him 4 rules to live by
#1-Don't lie.
#2-Don't cheat.
#3-Don't make promises you can't keep.
#4-Don't say things you don't mean.
Things go gloriously as we watch the relationship progress between the H/h, reading from both POV's.
Jack is drafted to Arizona for Baseball and Cassie receives an internship for her photography. They do the long distance thing both falling harder, and faster. Think Romeo and Juliet type love!
Then Jack fucks up.
I mean seriously
FUCKS UP!
That scene is in his POV and you are reading it,
knowing what is going to happen,
dreading that is going to happen,
and screaming at him when it does.
I shit you not! I was screaming at him and clutching at my chest as not only does Cassie world break mine did as well.
I am was sobbing uncontrollably, I was broken. I just felt like complete and utter shit!
AND THEN IF ONE BOMB ISN'T BAD ENOUGH!!
ANOTHER IS DROPPED.....
AND THEN ONE FUCKING MORE!!
Which one of Cassie's rules did Jack break?
You will have to read it to find out....
I do need to point out that we do get a wonderful HEA!!
but if this book did not have Jack POV I'm being 100% honest and said that I would of hated this book and hated Jack!
..................................
OMG... the things this book made me feel! GAH i can't explain it..
You want a rollercoaster of EVERY SINGLE FUCKING EMOTION YOU CAN HAVE???
LOOK NO FURTHER! -
I greatly enjoyed this book. I fell hard for Jack Carter. Yes, he came off as an arrogant jerk, but you could tell there was something more underneath. And there was. Jack isn't perfect. Cassie isn't perfect. They have issues. While you can pitch the perfect game, there is no such thing as the perfect relationship. Something happens in the book that is gut wrenching. You are so mad at Jack for what he does. Then because of his issues, he compounds the betrayal by making an even dumber decision. I couldn't decide if I should pull Jack out of the book and smack him upside the head or give him a big hug and help him fix it. I'm sure people are going to complain Cassie and Jack do finally get their happy ending. They are going to say Cassie is dumb. I think they are wrong. Sometimes the people you love make mistakes. And if you truly do love them, you will figure out a way to move past it and forgive them. Staying mad is easy. Forgiving someone takes guts. I adored the ending of this book. It was the perfect ending for an almost perfect book about imperfect people who are absolutely perfect for each other.

Cassie meet Jack, Jack meet Cassie...your Happy Ever After
My love/hate relationship to manwhores was taken to a whole new level. Cassie, I loved! Jack, I loved too but after what he did I can say I only like him a lot. Would love stories on side characters on Melissa(BF), Dean(Jack's brother)and Tyler & Amanda(former teammate and girlfriend to Tyler). It's got angst and of course a HEA. -
totally undecided on this book..there where things i liked and things i didn't! There were some very cute moments and I loved Jack and Cass as a couple and once they where together it was great but it seemed like all of a sudden they got together and were in love in the space of one chapter, when before that Cass really didn't like Jack. There wasn't enough development in the build up into the relationship. The idea of this story is really good and I believe if it had been edited quite a lot and bulked up with character development etc I would have had a much stronger reaction and attachment to the story as well as to both Jack and Cass. So much potential!..overall a pretty good read but one that I think could have been great.. 3 to 3.5 stars because it was a pretty cute story with a little bit of angst thrown in the mix :)

Welcome to my review of THE PERFECT GAME
There is a few things I want to say about the author of this book before I get started .
This is J.sterlings 3rd book . She wrote 2 other books in the YA genre .
In Dreams & Chance Encounters. Both are great books
I make no secret of the fact that I call Jenn AKA J.Sterling a friend . She is an amazing person with a larger than life personality, a sense of humour that calls to my funny bone lol & a huge heart that makes me love her. I can also be completely honest with her, especially about her writing. If I don’t like something she has written I CAN TELL HER without any concern because she has to love me afterwards lol .
So even though I know her I want you , the readers to know that THIS IS A 100% HONEST REVIEW !!!
When I finished reading this book I had tears in my eyes !......don’t judge me lol I’m not usually a sooky lala type of girl but I was sooooooo proud of Jenn for this amazing piece of work that I couldn’t help but get emotional !!
So much heart & soul when into this story that it just bled out of the pages & straight into me .
I started this book HOPING for a good read. I wanted this to show readers what I KNOW Jenn is capable of. What I got BLEW ME AWAY!!! It far exceeded all my expectations & took me to a place few book have. This book was a full body & mind experience for me .
Ok so let’s break the story line down for u a bit. I don’t do spoilers or even like to give hints of the plot of a book because that can take away from your reading experience so I will keep this simple .
Meet Jack, the hero of our story. Jack is a baseball player on the verge of hitting the big time . He is also a TOTAL MAN WHORE!!!! LOL You know the type of guy I’m talking about girls?? He sleeps his way through the entire female student body. A Smoking HOT bad boy who never sleeps with the same girl twice. Every woman wants him (even if it’s just to know what he is like lol)……except for our heroine teeeheeee ohhh how I love that in the female lead.
Now meet my girl Cassie. Cassie is new to school & even though Jack does catch her eye at a party , she very quickly works out he is an over confident man-whore & there is NO WAY she is going to be 1 of Jakes many conquests. In fact the drooling , giggling fan-girls that follow Jack around makes her sick & her repulsion for Jack & his team of giggling vagina groupies grows stronger by the day .
But Cassie has caught Jacks eye too. She is different ….. for the obvious reason that she doesn’t just drop to her knees in a puddle of drool for him !! lol
Jack is determined to break down Cassie’s defences & BOY does Cassie have some good defences!!!! She has a wall around her heart like the Great Wall of China!!!
Jack works out early that it’s not just about the chase. Cassie is a “game changer” for him & he is willing to change the way he plays his game to keep this girl.
Now. I’m not going to give you any more hints on the plot …..That’s for you to find out when you read this book but there is something extra special about it that I want to share.
The stand out performance in this book for me was the scene’s that Jenn sterling chose to write from Jacks point of view!!!!
There was this scene ….OMG THIS SCENE!!! THAT I, As a reader have NEVER experienced from a male leads point of view & because of how it was written from Jacks POV it added soooo freaking much depth to the story!!!!!!! My reaction to this scene & how I viewed Jack after this scene would of been SOOOOO VERY DIFFERENT if I didn’t get to witness this from a front row seat inside jacks head . I WAS SO ANGRY, THEN HEART BROKEN, THEN SCARED, THEN ANGRY AGAIN!!!!! AARRRGGGGGG !!!! This was where shit got real girls!!!!!!
My heart was pound from here on in !!!!
I had a white knuckle grip on my Ipad that could crack cement!!!!
I burst into tears!!!
I was swearing like a drunken sailor!!!!
I was sooo mad at Jack. Soo broken hearted for Cassie & how she was hurting.
What amazed me though is that my tears weren’t just for Cassie, They were also for Jack !!!
His sheer desperation crushed me!! He knew this stupid fucking moment of undeniable idiocy would take away what he loved most. All his hopes & dreams ….his whole future torn away from him …….AND ITS ALL HIS FAULT!!!!!! No-one to blame but himself . He was going to live the rest of his life with pain & regret all because of one COCK-DRIVEN DUMB-ASS MISTAKE …AAARRRGGGGG !!!!!
Ok …hold on ….sniff sniff……….i just need a minute to pull myself together …………..& mayb a mouth full of chocolate …………sniff …………………ok …OK im a little better now .
Alright im back ….lol sorry about that little break down but that’s just how worked up this book got me .
Now to be fair to Jack there was a certain SKANKY MOLE of a girl that some of the blame can go to for all my heart break but I CAN NOT talk about her without feeling a rush of violence so lets leave her out of this lol .
This book brought out the DIE-HARD ROMANTIC in me.
It takes a special Author to takes a relationship that has been sooo shattered & trust broken so badly by an unforgivable act & through pure genius make us want to fight for the hero that has done us wrong !!!!
Make us , as readers forgive or move past that wrong. Make us want to BITE, CLAW, PUNCH, SCRATCH & SCREAM our way back to our HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!!!!
This book was an absolute winner for me .
It took me on a ride full of deep emotion , heart pounding moments of pure angst & real love that left me with no doubt of my happily ever after .
WELL DONE MY FRIEND FOR GIVING ME MORE THAN I EXPECTED & EVERYTHING I WANTED !!
YOU GAVE ME MORE THAN JUST A GREAT READ …..U GAVE ME AN EXPERIENCE !!!!! -
After the best book of the year, let me introduce you my worst book of the year. Warning : This review is basically a big spoiler. So if you want to read the book, just don't read this.
Even the jerks need their ad, don't they? Or not really, okay. But I wanted to translate this "review" so here we go. Because this Jack Carter here? He could be the perfect fit for a chapter named "what-kind-of-boy-I-don't-want-my-daughter/friend/sister-date-like-ever"
Or 'what-kind-of-heroe-you-don't-want-to-recommend-me'
Jack Jack Jack Jack ......
What did he do? What DID HE DO?
Hum. Sorry.
Let's sum-up, shall we?
- He charms the heroine-I-forgot-the-name with lame jokes and improper comments. Jack, that's gross
- He makes her feel guilty when she's being unconfident.
- He cheats on her. Oh, do I need to spell it? H.E C.H.E.A.T.S O.N H.E.R You f*cking jerk! (sorry)
- He doesn't know what condoms are. When he cheats on his girlfriend anyway.
- The girl with whom he cheats gets pregnant.
- Obviously, he decides to marry that girl, because, I'm kind of quoting here : "I hate that girl but as she's pregnant I must marry her - that way my child will be so lucky to live with parents who loathe each others. Yay!" You are stupid, Jack. That's lame
- He discovers that the pregnancy was fake and meets the heroine (who, I must say, doesn't act like a moron for the very first time). She asks him to find a way to make amends.
- His way? He doesn't contact her during 6 months.
Oh, but don't freak out! She forgives him when he shows up with flowers. What am I saying? She asks him to forgive her (at this point, I didn't even try to understand these characters).
So, JACK :
Brrr. Way to violent for me. It was my I don't recommend book of the year.

Four almost Perfect Stars ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Hmmmmm so, for me, if I'm 100% honest this book wasn't perfect. It wasn't until the latter part of the book, probably from around the 60% mark when I finally started to warm to the characters.
Why.....
Let me get my moans out of the way:
I found the dialogue a little clichéd and too telling in places, it wasn't subtle enough, if that makes sense? Sometimes less is more and actions speak a thousand words.
Also Cassie's character, to start with, was all over the place; she wasn't consistent with her inner thoughts and actions - She wanted the guy and was going to have him and hurt him first, in the next breathe, literally, she didn't want to know him?
Jack, lovable but whiny when he had NO right to be...I'm not going to say anymore than that....
All that said, I stuck with it because I knew there had to be a reason for the good ratings and I got there in the end. I LOVED the characters and LOVED the story,
♥Now, of course I can't wait to get started on the sequel!!
On to the good things, or should I say Yummy things!!!!♥
"The one and only....He never hooks up with the same girl twice....Jack fcuking Carter....he's the ultimate playboy."
(I know Jack's a pitcher but he decided to hold a bat for this pic, lol)
Yes Jack is charming, lovable, gorgeous, yummy, HOT, and a MAN-WHORE but the girls don't care; they all want a piece of Jack.....
"The next big thing in the world of Baseball."
Yes Baseball is a major theme, it's Jack's passion his dream; the thing he cares most about. His home life fell apart when he was growing up but Baseball stood by him, it's his escape and boy is he good at it. Not just good but AMAZING!!!
A mega star in the making which makes him a magnet; a target, another reason for the girls to LOVE him.
“Fucking and fighting were the ultimate distraction.”
Cassie our blond haired, talented photographer is our heroine. She had a fairly rubbish time growing up herself, hence the rules of her, "...boy test.""You're both so screwed up alone that together you're like the perfect mess."
We see the emotional journey of Jack and Cassie's relationship, they both find something in each other, something they never expected.....it is a story about love, survival, trust, strength, honesty and forgiveness....."I'd finally met a girl who didn't try to impress me. She didn't care about what I did as an athlete; she cared about what I did as a person."
What they experience together is harrowing to say the least but quite beautiful in places."Fifty cents a touch, right?"
“You owe me a lot of touches, Kitten.”I loved this part of the story...so cute ♥
"I felt him inside me. I inhaled quickly, a pleasure-filled moan escaping my lips."
They fall in love ♥......
But love is not always easy, life is not always easy; sometimes mistakes are made that affect everything....
Sometimes there is NO going back....
Some things are completely out of our control...
Sometimes trying to do the right thing can be the absolute wrong thing!!!
JACK "I'm sure I'll fcuk it up..." CARTER I'M TALKING TO YOU!!!!!
So, the story for most part was a three star for me then something happened suddenly the story had more depth and purpose and was set up beautifully for the sequel ♥
"Do you still love me?"
♥ BR with the perfectly lovely Pink Lady, Deanna ♥

Jack and Cassie
Girl meets boy......and of course they fall in love!!
They meet at a frat party and even though Scarlett has been warned of his "player status." She eventually falls head over heels in love with the star pitcher of the baseball team.
“He was beautiful. And he was charming. And a man-whoring pig. God, what is wrong with me?”
Oh yeah and he looked good in that tight baseball uniform....WHEW!!
“It’s irritating how good he looks in his uniform, right?”
I jerked my head back toward her. “Seriously. Why does he have to be so hot?”
“’Cause he’s a jerk. Jerks are always hot,” Melissa reminded me with a nod.”
No worries it's a weak spot for all normal women;)
The first 50% of this book was such a sweet and beautiful romance. How one girl could turn this bad boy around and make him worship her......sooooooooo sweet!!
Then Jack gets drafted to the big leagues so they have to figure out a way to make their love survive in a long distance relationship.
That's where it became MY KIND OF BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And why was it my kind of book you ask?
Because everything went WRONG in the last 50%..........LOTS LOTS LOTS of angst.......my favorite!!!!
I wanted to scream at Jack........
His decisions were absolutely terrible....just when I thought it couldn't get worse...it did!!
Cassie had rules to follow, that she herself made....
Rule number one: Don't lie
Rule number two: Don't cheat
Rule number three: Don't make promises you can't keep
Rule number four: Don't say things you don't mean
Yea that's good and all but.....
I will just say after reading this roller coaster of emotions....the ending was beautiful! Let me repeat myself though I love these uber angsty books and I know some people don't so read with caution!
I quit highlighting quotes after 50% because it was just so good I couldn't take the time to swipe my finger....that's why there's no quotes for the last half...sorry.
But remember in the end there is an HEA and it's sooooooooooo sweet!!!
Happy Reading!!! -
This book is wrong in so many levels. I am not going to write a review now because I don't have anything respectful to say. Later maybe.
**UPDATE**
I chose to read this book when I heard it was somehow similar to Beautiful Disaster since they both had bad tempered main characters and everything. I generally don't mind bad [fictional] boys. They are hot and since I enjoyed Beautiful Disaster so much, I was so excited to start this book. Boy, never have I ever been so disappointed! Everything about this book was just wrong.
Let's start with Cassie, the main female character. She kept mentioning how her life had been screwed by her father not keeping his promises. Please! Parents lie sometimes, nothing is out of ordinary. Deal with it. I didn't understand how just her father never kept his end of the deal messed her up so badly. Dramatic much?
Now about Jack Carter. Tsk, tsk, tsk. What should I say? I didn't find his bad temper hot at all. I admit I like reading about possessive/bad tempered boys, but Jack was more irritable than he was hot. I really hated the way he treated women (other than his "Kitten"). Even those women were so annoying. he should not have said those things to them:
"Oh, so you're not a stripper, you're a whore?" ~ Jack said this to Cassie when he met her the first time. Very charming, right?
"... I'll find someone to teach you a little respect." ~ Jack said to Andrea when she tried to ask him to go to a party with her. So what now? Threatening a woman?
"I'm sure you were always a slut..." ~ Jack said to Chrystle after their night together. It takes two to do what they had done.
I did not feel the romance. Jack started pursuing Cassie like crazy after only met her once and it was like 5 minutes. It was a bit too fast. It was too desperate and I felt like the author just wanted to get it over with. The night they slept together for the first time was not how I had imagined it would be. First Cassie said she was not ready. And of course, Jack said it was ok, he would wait, blah, blah. Then he said he loved her and guess what? Cassie was ready. It took around 5 minutes and 3 words for Cassie to be ready. That was convenient.
How the author kept mention the same things over and over again was just so exhausting. I lost count how many time Cassie rolled her eyes. It drove me over the edge. And the F-bomb. Is it so necessary that almost every YA and NA book now have the f-words? I am not a writer (obviously), but I don't think a good book depends on how many F-bombs it has.
My phone vibrated in my pocket and I reached in and pulled it out. Text from Melissa. My f*cking savior...
I am glad that some people enjoy their time reading this book. Maybe it is just not a book for me, so I am not going to say I had a good time reading this book.

Jack Carter is a cheating piece of shit and it makes me sad that even after everything he did, this book still has high reviews and girls swooning over him. I knew before reading this that there was cheating in it, but I wanted to see how it was done. God, I wish I never read this awful book. Jack Carter is no book boyfriend/hero.
The actual sex with the OW isn’t detailed, but we did get to read his thoughts before it happened. He wasn’t drunk enough to forget he had a girlfriend.
I spotted Chrystle on the dance floor and suddenly couldn’t tear my eyes away from her tiny little body as she shook it. She watched me watching her and I knew I was in trouble. Look away, you idiot. Hot prickles shot through my body, but I ignored their warning, watching Chrystle grind her tight little body against another girl’s. Her hips dipped and moved in perfect rhythm and I suddenly couldn’t stop thinking about fucking her. If she moved like that on the dance floor… The song changed and she ditched her dance partner and headed toward me.
“I knew you liked what you saw earlier. You were just playing hard to get.”
“I didn’t like it earlier, but I like it now.” I slurred my words. ’Cause I’m fucking loaded and I can’t think straight.
“Is that right? Earlier you had a girlfriend.” She toyed with me, pressing her sweaty body against mine as I instantly became aroused. Cassie.
“Earlier you didn’t care.”
“I still don’t,” she sassed before grinding her hips into me.
“You better stop doing that or it’s gonna get you in trouble.” I want to give her some trouble. Some good, hard trouble.
“Maybe I wanna get into trouble?” She turned her body around and pressed her ass against me before bending over to pick something up off the floor. “I dropped this. Sorry.” Fuck. Me. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her to me. When our bodies were pressed up against each other, she reached down and placed her hand on my zipper. “Take me home, Jack.”
“You know this doesn’t mean anything, right? It’s just sex.” Drunken truth spilled from my lips.
“You sure know how to romance a girl,” she pouted as her bottom lip jutted out.
“Fucking isn’t romantic. And that’s all we’re gonna do.” I grabbed her hand and attempted to pull her toward the exit.
“You can drive, right?” I asked as I struggled to stay upright. “I’m sober as a judge.” She dangled her keys in the air. “I don’t know what that means, but let’s go.” She giggled as I followed behind her. -
3-3.5 ★'s
“Don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t say things you don’t mean, and don’t make promises you can’t keep.”
Another book from my cheating list that I finally got to and sadly, I was a little disappointed. Maybe I've read too many New Adult books because even though these characters are in college, they felt like high schoolers and they were sooo immature. It was definitely a turn off.
Jack and Cassie meet when she transfers to his college. He's the hot baseball player and can...and does get any girl he wants. But he's a once and done kind of guy and Cassie wants no part of that...or does she?
The more she pushes him away, the more he wants her and the more she wants him until she finally gives in. He's actually a nice guy once you get to know him and he opens up about his childhood. They share some similarities so they can both understand where the other is coming from.
It's not all roses though. They fight, he gets jealous, she suffers a traumatic event (WTH?), and then before we know it, he's getting drafted and moving away. They're going to make the long distance thing work but we all know how those usually go.
However, for a short while things are nice and then it's like this horrible cliché train wreck that Just. Doesn't. STOP. Pleeeasseee...make it stop, it was sooo hard to read and Jack becomes a super stubborn ASS!
Secretly (or not), I LOVED all the drama...I just wish it wasn't so stereotypical. ~Sigh~
The book does leave us on a good note that I wasn't expecting. I mean there's an epilogue and everything. I'm guessing the author didn't originally intend to continue the series but since she did my curiosity is demanding I continue as well. Here's hoping they're a bit better. *fingers crossed*
♦ Love that the author gave a shout out to one of my all time favorite books, The Opportunist! -
3,5 ⭐️
Per me è no. -
4 Fast Ball Stars
College love can be intense and earth shattering and also the place where you meet "The One". The one that changes everything for the good and the bad. This is a story of that kind of love.
Meet Jack fucking Carter he's a college baseball superstar- He doesn't date. He just sleeps with girls and all their friends. He was beautiful. And he was charming. And a man-whoring pig.
Meet Cassie aka Kitten- She's sassy, she's tough and says plays hard to get with Jack. But she has trust issues."So your head wants proof and your heart wants reassurance?"
They have great banter back and forth. They fall in love fast. Jack is a superstar and when Cassie becomes his girlfriend, she must deal with all that goes with dating a superstar. Mostly, that every girl out there wants her man and will do just about anything to get him. All that she wants of Jack are that he follows her rules-
Jack is recruited by the Major Leagues. All is going well, until Jack makes a life altering mistake. Life doesn't always go as you expect. Breaking one of the rules can change how you thought your life would turn out. I hate that Jack made a stupid mistake but I felt that he did what he thought was the right thing even though it wasn't. I wanted to hate him but I had a heart to forgive him.
Can Cassie move on with her life, start over, and learn to love again all a new city away from Jack? Can Jack come back from the mistake he made, show Cassie that his love never left, and get her to forgive him? All he has to do is......
It was a sweet, gut wrenching story. You keep rooting for them but there is so much thrown at them that you wonder is love enough? It ended in a happy place for me but there were so many questions that I had. The next book gave me answers so while you can read just this book, reading the next one brings it all home.

*spoiler alert*
★ ! I actually really enjoyed this book, for starters. The characters were great. Cassie was easy to like and i fell in love with Jake Carter from moment one. He reminded me a lot of Jude Ryder from CRASH by Nicole Williams, who i totally and completely love.
Jake is the school's biggest player, and no girl can resist him. Except for Cassie. I loved reading how he got her to finally date him and how sweet they were together.
So THE PERFECT GAME just get 1,5 stars for me. What Jack did ruined everything this book could be in my opinion.
But this was still a good read and i don't regret meeting the sexy/hot Jack Carter. I LOVED him (before he fucked everything up), I really did. But I still have not forgiven him for what he did...
So to sum it up, everything went to hell after a great start. Cassie is weak and a fucking doormat for forgiving him so quickly and easily. And Jack is disgusting..
I am still gonna read book 2 though, in hopes that Cassie dumps his sorry ass. Hopefully for good!! But we all know that won´t happen. But he has do something pretty spectactular for me to forgive him. What he did was totally unforgivable and disgusting. Jack fucking Carter deserves to SUFFER an eternity in hell for what he did. I hate him. I really do.
Update**the more I think about Jack and this book, the more I absolutely hate him with everything I am!! So I have decided that, for the first time ever, give this book the lowest rating, one star! -
Loved it!
I love romance and I love baseball, so when you put the two together, I’m all over it. So with that said, I can’t believe that I balked at reading this!
I was hooked from page one. I couldn’t put it down. I even read it while watching game 7 of the NLCS between the San Francisco Giants & the St. Louis Cardinals…which made for an interesting soundtrack to the book.
I ended up reading this in one sitting…it was that good. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Ms. Sterling, you have a new fan!

Confessions of 2 Book Lovers. -
