2007 NFL Record \u0026 Fact Book Reviews

I am the only person on Goodreads who has this book! ECHOechoechoechoecho...

Ah, none of you people know what you're missing. This is the holy grail for the football geek. It has the score of every pro game ever played period, even by teams that have long since gone defunct; it has lengthy recaps for every Super Bowl and every one of last season's games.

Sections it's light on: rules (what the hell do I have to do to track down a complete set of NFL rules and bylaws in print?!); coach bios, which take a just-the-facts approach that renders them totally useless, because no one outside a tiny, sad subculture in Boston really gives a shit where Bill Belichick went to high school; there's absolutely nothing regarding formations, which are a pretty big part of the game. They're not even mentioned once! Amazing! So for its dunderheadedness on these points, the book deserves an award.

Could use shrinking: the fantasy football section. Look, this just isn't the book for that, and when it tries to be it's just pathetic. No fantasy player with a pulse goes to the NFL for advice, especially considering its well-documented antipathy toward the hobby that may well be its lifeblood.

That said, this book has more NFL raw data than it's easy to find anywhere else. There might be more online but this book is way more navigable than the NFL site.
