Interning on a major motion picture is not all bad. She gets to watch some of the scenes and even offer her opinion. “That kiss looked lame. Laughably weak. There’s no chance at an MTV award with that kiss.” LOL.
Until the director says, “Hey, Intern. Yeah, you. Ashley. You’re right. So, teach Caspian how to kiss. Oh, and get in front of the camera. We're going to need you in this next shot."

This could have been so much better. The overall idea is something I can totally get behind... because I've done this:
Imagine yourself around 15 years old. Sitting on your bed, gazing at your JTT and Devon Sawa posters... you start to daydream. You no longer live in suburban USA with your accountant dad and nurse mom. Nope, you're spending your summer with your LA-hot-shot dad on a set of a big movie. Said movie has some of the hottest names including the even bigger hottie male lead. You're cool. Not star struck. You turn into his personal assistant. Oh and look at that, the director wants you to stand-in for a female lead since you're not awkward-teen... nope, you're a hottie too. What are the odds! So you and Mr. Star flirt and have this whole "this won't work out but we're supposed to practice kissing together" thing... then he pushes you away (because like all hot guys, he's damaged and has an uber-sensitive side) and you run home to your real friends and you're mom. Then (spoiler) hot guy comes running back and says he loves you and you live happily ever after.
See - great idea since WE'VE ALL DAYDREAMED ABOUT THIS! The problem, the writing was jumpy and didn't give you a whole lot of depth. The "we need to have a hiccup in this love story" was just thrown in there - no foreshadowing and zero weight to it. It just happened (sorta - since there was a lot that was just thrown in there) and Mr. Star blamed her. She ran off and then it didn't really get solved. Oh, Mr. Star figured out who done-it but you never got to see it. The author just served it up and you're supposed to swallow.
Sooooo.... if you're on the fence, but you're craving a PG celeb focused love story... try out Breathe (yes, I know that author is in some drama but I'm keeping myself out of it - I just want to read). If you want a celeb book that's a little more PG-13/R... try Love Unscripted. Neither book is award winning writing but they kept me more hooked/happy then this one.

I was in the mood for a wish fulfillment story when this crossed my bow. I don't regret it, precisely, but I have to admit it reminds me of what's common in this space. This kind of story already has a lot of disbelief to suspend, so I wish authors would take some care with all the rest. Emily Evans seems to take that as "well, as long as their disbelief is already suspended . . ."
I suppose it's fortunate that at least Ashley, as a character, holds up or I'd have abandoned the story pretty early on. She's sweet and grounded and was fun to spend some time with. She doesn't have any great expectations of her summer internship and comes across as someone doing her best with whatever she has been given.
That's not much to hang a novel on, but that's really all I had. The plot was beyond stupid, none of the secondary characters made any sense, and sometimes physics didn't seem to be all that certain, either.
Caspian, Caz, was hit or miss. Which is to say that he's mostly okay, but he has moments of irrationality or where the plot bends him in weird ways. At times, he's nice. At times commanding. At times too willing to be pushed around. It felt like there was an attractive vulnerability there and that might be what Evans was going for, but it never really gelled for me into something I cared about. Mostly I was with Ashley and could take or leave Caz according to what would make her happy.
Also, someone needs to find a copy writer because the cover copy was misleading and kind of dumb.
Anyway, this was a two and a half star read, pretty much throughout. Ashley was entertaining enough to flirt with three stars but never quite able to get there all by herself. -
I love celebrity romances. Especially where the guy is the famous one and the girls is the normal of the two. I love the fairy tale aspect of it all. When I read the blurb for The Accidental Movie Star, I didn't want to get my hopes to high. I had just abandoned another celebrity-type romance book, and was disheartened, so I learnt my lesson in expectations...
But I have to admit that this story was quite enjoyable and fortunately, I was not disappointed at all. I was hooked into it right away, and didn't want to put it down until I finished. I like books like that.
I liked Ashley. She's a likeable character and it's a plus when I don't roll my eyes when she interacts with the male lead. She's strong and doesn't come out as a simpering fool. I hate when that happens. She has standards and can stick to her guns when needed.
Caz was also a character that is flawed but likeable. He can be arrogant, but can be sweet. Stoic, but vulnerable. He knows when he's wrong and (although it takes a while), mans up and admits to it.
I'd recommend this for those who wants a quick read, enjoy a sweet romance with a celebrity flavour.

I must have played around with the idea of buying this book for at least four months before I gave in and purchased it. When I finally got around to reading it, I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. I thought at best it would be a cute but frustrating story about an average girl and a Hollywood hunk falling in love. I expected her to be flawless but insecure and him to be perfect. I thought that I would have to put up with her constantly questioning why he liked her, and he would have to reassure her over and over again that he truly did like her. That's the story that I've read countless times before, and I geared up for the same old thing.
But boy was I wrong!!!

Ashley & Caz
Ashley wants to be an architect but she needs some extra credit for her college transcripts. Her dad arranged for her to work with an architect on a movie set over the summer as an intern.
Caz is a movie star. He has been acting since the age of 14.
After Ashley overhears a conspiracy to make Caz a dad without his knowledge she gives Caz a gift. Ashley does not tell Caz what she overheard but Caz is now smitten with the intern.
After a bumpy internship and a bumpier friendship with the movie star the two characters find themselves at different sides to a story.
Caz believes what he has heard about Ashley even though Ashley denies her involvement. Ashley does not even know how to explain it because she has no clue what has happened. So the two part ways.
Caz finds out more of the truth to the event and asks Ashley to forgive him and to move forward with a relationship.
The book begins before college and ends while Ashley is in college. There is not a whole lot that happens in the hot and steamy area it is pretty PG13. I find that the scenes are a bit choppy getting from one event/place to another. Sometimes I was a bit lost and had to re-read the transition. All in all it was a cute story and I got used to the transitions as the book went on. -
This was a nice fun read, I enjoyed it, but it could have been a lot better. The plot was pretty straightforward and even though I did actually enjoy it I had a problem with the characters, more specifically the relationship between the characters. None of them felt real to me. Ash and Caz were supposed to love each other but I didn't really feel that, it was more like I was just reading about it, that I just being told that they loved each, because I didn't actually see it. Half the time I wasn't even sure if Ash actually liked Caz at all with the way she was acting. Also how she kept talking about Marissa seemed a bit strange to me. I get she was trying to fill up the silence (which I don't agree with, but that's ok, cause that's just me, but it was like Marissa this and Marissa that, and she wouldn't shut up about Marissa, and the way she brought her up in the conversation was strange to me as well. I don't know if that was just me but yeah that's what I got out of it,but even with it's flaws I still enjoyed it.

The narrative does not make the reader identify/fell in sync with the characters.For example i wasn't sure if the main characters were dating or having a no strings attached relation or whatever at any point while reading the book.The heroine suddenly "realizes" that she was in love with the hero after seeing her emotions on the screen..Seriously!? Can u be any more dense? Or are these people zombies? I never felt the connection between me as a reader to the book or between the main characters who fall in love for god-only-knows-what reason. All in all the characters are not really 3 dimensional or fully developed and the author could have done a better job with a story with so much potential is she had focused on showing the development of the plot rather than telling it. The book does not live up to what the blurb leads you to expect.

This a fun quick read! I recommend it.
It's the summer before Ashley enters her senior year of high school and she wants a job to put on her college resume. So what does she do? Her dad, who is part of the "in" crowd in Hollywood (I don't actually know what he is. Maybe some record dude or whatever) gets her an unpaid summer internship on a movie set with one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, the British (*dreamy sigh*) actor, Caspian Thaymore, more commonly known as Caz.
First time Ashley meets Caz is in his limo on their way out of the airport. She got into his limo by accident instead of hers. Go figure.
Exasperated Caz (come on! He was mobbed by a huge crowd of girls) thinks that Ashley is a fan who snuck into his limo, so he grabs her wrist and signs it without her asking him to. Ashley's like "Oh come on!"
Then he finds out she is an intern.
As a production assistant on set, Ashley runs any kinds of errands necessary. Actor needs a coffee? Call Ashley. Makeup lady needs help? If Ashley is there, call Ashley. Caz needs to learn how to kiss better? I'll get to that in a second *wink wink*
Caz is the main male character in the film. There are two main female characters: the hot vixen and Caz's character's long dead true love.
Hot vixen lady is played by an egocentric actress named Petra. True love is supposed to be played by an actress named Lorene who shows up weeks late into the filming. More on that later.
So this Petra woman was talking to her production assistant Olive (her name is Olive! And I don't even know how such a lowly person became Petra's PA but whatevah). Anyways she was talking to Olive in her movie star trailer while Ashley was going to drop off a script update when she heard the following conversation:
Olive: Of course, you'll make headlines for just being here, but imagine if something exciting happened, like if you were to get pregnant--with Caspian's baby.
Petra: If I show up pregnant with Caspian's baby? Why would I want that? I'd be so fat.
Olive: Imagine the press.
Petra: The coverage would be amazing, and everyone is getting pregnant or adopting right now, so we could go maternity shopping, me and all the other big stars. I've worked with Caspian before, but we've never, you know. What if he doesn't want a kid right now? He's only like eighteen.
Olive: No guy can resist you. How hard is it to get preggers? Punch a hole in a condom.
Petra: Then I could lose the baby tragically, or he's loaded so I could keep the baby. I would look stunning in maternity clothes. Ans my child would be such a pretty baby because Caspian and I are both so good looking, and I could dress her up like me.
As you can see, Petra is very self centered and is obsessed with publicity. So Ashley overhears this conversation and guess what she does. She goes to the drug store and buys condoms to deliver to Caspian (so they are not sabotaged) without him knowing it was her. Of course she ends up in his trailer with him and the package and she accidentally drops it.
When Caz asks Ashley why the lovely present, she tells him she heard something, but won't tell him who said it or what they said. The very curious Caz thinks she fancies him and he keeps calling her in particular to do him intern favors (like bring him a coffee). He keeps asking her what she heard but she won't tell him. I don't understand why she won't tell him. It's not like Petra is a mass murderer she should be worried about. Also Petra didn't even know that Ashley was eavesdropping! I guess it was just to make the relationship between Ashley and Caz more interesting.
So the more Caz calls on Ashley to help him with whatever, they slowly become friends with with a spark of something more just beneath the surface. When does that spark become a flame? Let me tell you. Caz was just performing a kissing scene with Petra and the director was asking opinions when:"The director looked at Ashley. 'You're part of our target audience. Opinion.'...Ashley tilted her head and assessed the image again. 'Well, Caz looks great with his shirt off, so it'd be a shame to lose that scene, but that kiss was not so hot.'
The director nodded. 'PA, go to Research and ask them for some romantic DVDs. Mark the scenes and get them to Caspian tomorrow.'...The director turned to Caz. 'Watch the DVDs and we'll reshoot Thursday. I'll make a decision them.'
'The PA will help me research the scene?' Caz said, in a way that wasn't really a question.
'Yes.' Turning to Ashley, the director commanded, 'Show Caspian how to kiss.'
ALSO! Remember how not too long ago I mentioned that the actress who was supposed to play Caz's character's true love, Lorene? So she was late.
Studio decides Ashley can film the stunts (since there isn't a face close-up) instead of Lorene. Lorene showed up weeks late and she showed up drunk. And she was fatter and no longer fit into the costume.
Ashley what size are you!? Ashley fits into the dress. So Ashley acts instead of Lorene in the scenes that don't really involve close-ups of the face....including the beginning of a wedding night scene................you get the idea! And this is after Caz and Ashley practiced kissing in Caz's trailer.
Despite loving this book, I only gave it 3.5 stars because I feel like there's something missing. I think it's the physical characterization mainly. I like that we really get a feel for who each character is because there is an abundance of dialogue (the dialogue was really amazing by the way). But we don't know much about what each character really looks like. What do we actually know?
Ashley is blond and has I-forgot-what-color eyes.
Caz if buff and hot (duhhh), has blue-green eyes, and chin-length streaked blond hair....Okay Caz isn't too bad.
Some of the other characters have striking physical features, like Boomer's biceps and Powder's look in general but some others need some more image.
Petra is really annoying and Olive is worse.
All the set people are awesome. Cutter's OCD is really funny but I think Powder is my favorite. To clear up the confusion, the crew are nicknamed based on their jobs. Powder is the makeup girl, Cutter is the costume guy..etc. Ashley is called PA (Production assistant).
Caz. What can I say? A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth even more.
We don't see much of Ashley's parents, but we know they are divorced and are still in love. The only reason they divorced was because of very different life styles. In fact, Ashley's mom is pregnant by the end of the book.
I love Ashley's snarky remarks and dialogue.
This book mentions the kissing pentagon several times, but it's never actually explained. We sort of see step one in action but that's it. Am I just in the dark about this and it's something we should all know about?
I don't know what to think about Garrett Campbell (by the way he is the love interest in the next book **squeals**). It's great that he and Caz are friends again.
Speaking of friends, I love Ashley's relationship with her best friend back in Texas who works at a restaurant called the Fry Hut, Marissa. Even though we never meet her, we get an idea of what she is like because of the dialogue, or in this case, text messages between her and Ashley. She is the protagonist of the next book!
Since Caz has been working with the movie industry and celebrity life for a long time, he should have known that Ashley would be telling the truth and not the people who are all about appearances! That was dumb on his part. And then firing her! Months later, he realized what a stupid idea that was and crashed her school winter dance.
Okay well not exactly, but before the dance he comes and tells her that he wants to talk to her about all that happened and she's like "I don't have time now because of the dance" and he's like "Fine then Caz is coming with".
They mend their relationship. She goes to the movie premiere, and commence awkwardness. Remember how I said she had to film some parts with Caz, including the beginning of a wedding night scene? Yeah, her father was also at the premiere and boy was he pissed at the end! He basically freaked out. "Ashley what the hell have you been doing all summer?!"
Fun.
I really enjoyed this book! Read it because awesome! -

I honestly don't even know how what to say about this book. It wasn't awful. It wasn't mind-blown-fantastic either. It was just... eh.
I was frustrated with both Caspian and Ashley. I don't know what compelled me to read this, but I wanted to for some unknown stupid cupid reason, so I bought it. I waited a while too, and it was not worth the wait.
Ashley.Sounds like the name of a bitch.She is such a friggen tease. She leads him on, makes out with him , she finally gives in to her 'true' emotions, and overall, she is just an annoying, overjealous flake."Maybe you do, maybe you don't (shower.) Let me see." Leaning forward until her elbows rested on the wooden armrests of his char, she put her face near his shoulder and neck, and made snuffling sniffs.
There were so many mixed signals coming from this couple, or whatever the hell they are, that I just had no clue whether they were going to kiss each other the next time they see each other or scratch each others eyeballs out with a cat and a party hat.
Caspian confused the bejesus out of me. For a start, he really likes to get all up in Ashley's junk. There is only one word I can use to describe him, and it starts with a P. Can you guess it?Pervert.Possessive."Caz put his hands on her waist and pulled (Ashley) forward. When her jean-clad legs hit his, he tugged one of her knees up until it rested on the chair beside his thighs"
Bearing in mind, this happened in front of many people in the makeup room, while Ash was putting face cream and eyeliner on him. Classy. I'm getting too lazy to write 'Ashley' all the time, so she is now 'Ash' to me.
But wait, there's more!:""Your favourite colour or, more importantly, boxers or briefs, you man beast." (said Ashley)
Caz smiled wickedly and put his hands on the top button of his jeans, and unbuttoned them"
"Caz tightened his grip in her hair, stilling her."
"Caz rose. "Okay, let's try it." He took (Ash's) arm and led Ash to the back of his trailer-to his bedroom."
I liked the idea of the book. I liked the authors intentions. I liked some moments between Ash and Caz. I really liked Marissa, Ash's best friend. She said/texted some really funny things, and she was the only one who had intended humour that I laughed at. The book wasn't as awful as I think I made it sound, it just isn't worth another read for me.
Wait, One more!:"Caz stretched his arms over his head and leaned side to side. The hem of his shirt rose, showing an inch of his skin. "I could probably use a massage later (Ashley)""

This is one of those reviews where I could really spend the whole time just listing all the things I didn’t like. I liked the idea for the book, but the execution fell flat, at least for me. I thought the characters were too young; they did not come across as 17-18 at all. I think it would have worked better as a NA read, maybe have Ashley in college and a bit more mature (that would have also made all the drinking, etc. more bearable as well).
The writing was okay. It felt choppy and didn’t always flow well. Same with the dialog, the conversations didn’t seem realistic. None of the male characters sounded masculine. Actually, they all seemed interchangeable. No one had a unique voice.
By the end I didn’t really care for Ashley. I think a lot of that had to do with my dislike of Caz and their very weird relationship. Caz was pretty nonexistent to me. Sure he was present for the whole book, but I never got a feel for him. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a book where I just didn’t feel the character at all. He barely spoke and when he did, it was lame. He did not come across as a hot Hollywood actor instead he was quite, broody and not much of a people person. It seemed like he hated his job and all that went with it. He also didn’t seem like he was 18. I wish he would have been more charming and had a personality (I would have taken any personality, anything would have been better than the wooden image we got).
Their relationship was so weird. He constantly refers to her as his “assistant” and makes her do all sorts of things for him. He also makes her read lines and practice kissing scenes. Which would have been fine if he had been charming, there had been some banter, but they had ZERO chemistry between them. I wasn’t even sure they were dating, it was just odd. A lot of their lack of chemistry could be from how Caz is portrayed. I imagine it would be hard to have any kind of relationship with him.
Overall, not the book for me. I liked the idea for the story and it had good potential. It was just too choppy and didn’t flow well.

This book was cute and better than I expected. Ashley our heroine is visiting her father for the summer before her senior year while also interning as a production assistant on a film at her father studio. Her father forgets to pick her up at the airport and sends a limo instead. She gets in the limo when suddenly someone slips in beside her. That someone is Hollywood's it boy Caspian, Caz, and he is curious why she is in his limo. They end up sharing a ride to avoid his crowd of fans. Irony sakes she ends up working on his new film. She overhears another PA talking with a star, Petra, about getting pregnant "accidentally" by Caz so she tries to help by bringing him condoms so that cannot happen. He thinks she is hitting on him so he tries to keep her close and only accepting her help. They become friends and he is flirting with her constantly but she continues to refuse his advances because her father dated actress before and their priories are never straight. Because she is near the height of one of the stars she becomes her stand in. The star is not in a good place so she does a lot of filming thinking most if not all with be cut. The relationship grows but people sabotage their progress by feeding him lies and because he is big on trust he gets her fired off the film. A few months later he starts to realize maybe she was telling him the truth. He talks to her and found out it was other people giving out the info not her. She ends up going to the premiere with her father when she sees Caz and he is not letting her slip away. He fires his agent for telling the press where he was and working him to much. They see that the scenes that she helped film all of them made it into the film. She is shocked to she herself on film and when her father sees it he wonders what she did on set especially after seeing her with Caz. The crew she works with see them talking and realize she is one of the top execs daughter and all of the sudden want to treat her better. An earthquake happens and Caz protects her and saves her and tells everyone about her being his girlfriend. The father wants to call the mother to tell her they are okay and Caz says that's good because less stress is good for her pregnancy. The father realizes that the mother is pregnant and it is his because the parents still love each other and still sleep together. It ends nicely with her at UCLA close to her parents and her boyfriend who will be going there next semester doing one on one off thing.
The book was well written and kept me reading cover to cover. I can't wait to read more from this author. -
What can I say about this book other than that it's BORING!!! I'm sooo disappointed in this because I expected way more.

This is a story about a girl called Ashly who wants to be an architect. She decides to work in a set for a movie in California where her dad lives. She meet Caz and paparazzi take picture of them together, but they don't know who the girl is since it's only the back of her head. Ok, until now it's not that bad. It goes down hill when she start working at the set. Caz was kind of cute at the start but then the story started to drag on and on. i felt like there was actually nothing new happening at all. Just some drama about some random characters.
So when I started reading this, I expected this book to be about a girl who become famous, and fall in love with an actor. But, it was nothing like this. It was full of stupid drama that was too stupid to be called drama. I'm really disappointed in this!! REALLY!
First of all, it's very weird that I hated the main male character because I usually like main male character more than female. But, in this book, the Caz was too dump, and somehow too much like a kid. Ashly was actually a little bit better since she had a strong personality.
The plot was super boring. There were no twists, nothing good enough because the whole thing seemed to be expected. Sometimes I felt like Caz actually act like any other stupid main female character in any book which was kind of a NO NO to me. The writing style made me become very bored, and I felt like the book dragged on for a long time. I don't know, there was something missing in this book. -

I found this book by luck, and because I'm obsessed with checking my Amazon recommendations. I don't think I've ever been more happy about my crazy tendencies.
This book is AMAZING.
We start with Ashley standing alone at LAX waiting for her dad - a hot-shot guy in the movie business in Hollywood - to come pick her up so she can start her summer with him and her internship on the set of a new major motion picture. Only her dad doesn't show.
He sends a limo to pick her up, and as soon as she gets in the car she finds out she will be sharing the ride, and not just with any person. No. She'll be sharing the car ride with the hottest guy in Hollywood who will be shooting the movie in which she'll be working on as a PA: Caspian Thaymore.
After an incident with beer and orange juice, then another one with a box of condoms, Caz starts seeking Ash's attention by generally turning her into his personal assistant... and stealing her tea.
I love how Ashley isn't this starstruck teenage girl, and is not in any way impressed with the movie set or its people. She treats everyone the same way, and she's not terrified of paparazzi and reporters or any other thing that comes along with being famous. I think maybe that's why Caz likes her so much, because she doesn't expect to get anything from him; she's there as an intern to learn more about the movie set structure because she wants to be an architect, and that's it.
I didn't expect to love this book so much, but I did. The characters are hilarious - Powder!! -, and so are some of the situations we find them in - teaching Caz how to kiss!!! -, and it's really great to read about Ash and Caz together, because she doesn't take any of his shit. This is an amazing book, and I definitely recommend it to everyone to immerse themselves in this story and have tons of fun while doing it! -
If you are looking for a cute contemporary book with a glamorous edge you need to read The Accidental Movie Star. Ashley is a character that was fun getting to know. Her "real" approach to the Hollywood stars was refreshing and realistic. She wasn't just magically immune, she had been around them her whole life. It all made sense. The romantic progression between her and Caspian was cute. The little signs, quirks, and jealousies were funny. It wasn't love at first sight it was gradual. One of my favorite and hottest scenes in the book was the kissing lessons. Emily Evans sure doen know how to describe a kiss! Caspian was a nice guy and not really what I expected. He was very down to earth, but still knew how to use his Hollywood charm to get what he wanted. If there was any complaints from me it would be the lack of trust and obvious explanations as to what really happened. Also, the title doesn't really fit. Ashley doesn't actually becom an accidental movie star (in my opinion). This was a really cute book and well worth the couple of dollars it cost. I give this book a 4 STAR rating.

I feel like this book had such great potential. There was a lack in character building. I like a good back story to really get to know the characters, and this book does not offer that. The first 75% I feel is really slow moving, and the last 25% is so fast, with some chapters only being a page or two. I didn't really feel the lead characters connection or chemistry and wished this would have been written out better. I give it two stars because it was ok, and I at least was able to finish it.

2.5 stars. It was okay but could of been so much better. A lot of scenes just didn't make sense, like no way in hell that would happen sense. I don't see why the h couldn't of just been an actress if the author wanted her to do movie scenes with the H? But no, because every single actress had to be a total drama queen? Some scenes were really not but overall eh, it was just not great.

I really hate clean books that are only clean because of interruption. There is no moral question of "is this right", or "is this a good idea". It really leaves the characters lacking in a major area.

Most teenagers get summer jobs working in fast food joints or coffee shops. Ashley was not like most teenagers. Her dad is a huge Hollywood executive and he got her a summer job as a PA in a new movie starring one of the hottest guys in Hollywood, Caspian Thaymore (Who by the way, I'm totally picturing as Alex Pettyfer. The hair, the eyes, and the accent. Come on, it's totally him!). Caz and Ashley's first encounter wasn't exactly ideal but the more they spend time together, on and off the set, the more they end up liking each other.
I've been on a Rock Star/Movie Star kick these past few weeks. The last books I read were Rockoholic, HDU and then this one (I'm gonna start Starkissed right after this review). The Accidental Movie Star is a quick, fun read. I finished it in one sitting and I must say, I quite enjoyed it. The story is nothing new. Hollywood star falls for average girl. The idea seems far fetched but the inclusion of Ashley's dad being a Hollywood big shot makes it somewhat possible and believable. Ashley grew up around celebrities so it made sense that she was able to act naturally and not at all fangirl-y around Caz. She saw Caz as an actual person instead of just some movie star and I think that's the reason why Caz took a liking to her (That and the box of condoms she gave him, which he took as an "invitation". Lol.). When I started reading the book, I thought Caz was going to be the stereotypical asshole movie star but turns out, he's actually a pretty great guy. He does have his issues and drama diva moments but for the most part, he was a genuinely nice guy. For reasons I can't fathom, he kept reminding me of St. Clair from Anna and The French Kiss. Maybe it's the accent and some similarities in their personality, but I digress. There were also a lot of pretty interesting side characters in the story. My favorites were Powder and Petra. Powder seems like someone who would be really fun to hang out with and Petra, oh my God. She is just totally ridiculous and laughable. Also, there's Olive, who I hated with a passion.
What I liked about the story was that the attraction between Ashley and Caz didn't happen instantaneously. They were sort of friends first and over time, it just developed into something more. These two characters have great chemistry together as evident by the really really hot kissing scenes between them. They also ended up filming a bed scene together, which was also pretty steamy. The only things I didn't like about the book was that some scenes felt unfinished to me. Like they ended too abruptly or something. An example of this is the scene at the beach where they were caught off guard by a paparazzi. They ran away from him and then the scene just ended. What the heck happened next? Another thing is, I think the book would have worked better if it had been written in first person POV. The third person narrative just didn't work for me. All in all, I really liked this book. It's light, funny and will have you wishing you had your own Hollywood Hunk Boyfriend. -
3.5 stars. Thanks to Mehar for the rec. Cute story of the movie star H, Caz, with the everyday high school h, Ashley. Ashley's dad has her working on a movie set for the summer while she's hoping to learn some architecture tips from the set builders, she winds up on Caz's movie set. A sort of fairytale story by a new author for me. Ashley was a strong, level headed girl who didn't give in to Hollywood's plastic fluff.

Wow! What HORRIBLE writing. Like something out of a 13-year-old’s journal - sadly, not even from a very imaginative or literate 13-year-old.

Fine book. it felt like it jumped around alot... like there were a few connecting sentences missing each chapter. Also, while it was technically clean, it seemed to skirt on gray area quite a bit.

The Accidental Movie Star
Almost all hopeless romantic girls (like me) dream of this.
Sparkling lights, famous and gorgeous actors all around, make-up crew on ready, PA all around...
But our darling heroine doesn't want this, but she was given this with an extra.
Ashley is a daughter of a well-known person in show business. She was about to start college, take up architecture and wanted to have a part time job that will add something to her application form. Luckily her dad is well-known she got an internship as a Production Assistant (PA) in a movie entitled Eternal Loss, Eternal Revenge. When she got to Los Angeles her dad forgot to pick her up so he sent out a limo for her instead. When she got to the limo, she was surprised that Caspian Thaymore, the very popular and handsome British actor also went inside. The intercom then said they are sharing the same limo.
The production of the movie was nice. Caz was part of the main cast alongside with Lorene and Petra.
The actors and actresses didn't surprise our heroine for she get to have a chance to go to screening with her dad before. The journey of being a PA begins...
When Ashley was given a task to give the script to Petra she accidentally heard her talking about taking chances to be pregnant with Caspian's baby. Petra talked about sabotaging the condoms he would use and how that issue will make her a big star. That troubled Ashley. The next day she bought a box of new and sealed condoms and gave it Caz. That started their closeness. Caz became curious about her and started teasing her and talking with her.
Lorene, the true love of the character of Caz in the movie, didn't show up. The director asked Ashley to replace her instead. Ashley thought they would only use her back and not show her face in the movie so she eventually agreed.
A day came for the shooting of Caz's sex scene with Petra. Ashley doesn't want to watch but then she can't help it. The scenes showed up to be awkward and 'so not hot'. The director asked Ashley to teach Caz how to kiss. That started the teach-him-how-to-kiss session. After that they went out together and Ashley can't forget Caz's kiss. The became closer and closer. The sex scene with Lorene almost didn't happen but the director asked for Ashley to replace her. The sex scene was hot, sexy and sultry.
Then the wrap up party came. Someone drugged Caz's drink and he blamed Ashley for doing it. He even asked the director to fire her. Asheley tried to explain that it wasn't her and the pill's he found in her purse was probably Olive's fault.
After a couple of months Caz cleared his mind and started to believe Ashley. Since Ashley was fired and back in her hometown Caz called the department to know where she lives.
It was Ashley's winter dance and still she wasn't able to talk to Caz. When somebody came in front of her house she was surprised to find Caz. Caz said sorry to her and asked her to take him to her dance. She agreed and they went out together.
Screening day came and Ashley came with a beautiful dress sent by her father.
She was surprised that her face was shown in the movie and she totally replaced Lorene. Her dad went mad knowing this. He said he doesn't approve of his relationship with Caz and she wasn't supposed to be an actress but an architect.
Will they be able to convince Ashley's dad that it is true love? Find out...

I love CAZ of course I just hate that he didn't believe Ashley. Well, I guess he has trust issues. His best friend betrayed him and his parents are divorced so I think it is hard for his part too.
I honestly think that the title of the movie sucked. It sucked BIG TIME.
Ashley is a cutie. And I love her. She is strong in her own ways, she is creative and she is fun. She is very trusting especially to her friends.
I LOVE THIS and you'll gonna love it too when you read it. -

I liked that Ashley is passionate about architecture. It just fit with her sensible personality. It's funny that she's more keen about the set-up of the movie set than all the actors and what-not. I also liked that she had so many hobbies outside of Caz. He's practically an afterthought to her. Hello? This is so brilliant I can hardly express myself.
Ashley's dad is a hot-shot producer but Ashley lives with her more normal mother. Even so, Ashley has had enough glitz and glamour for a life time. Her dad got her a summer job working on a movie set. Despite being unreliable Ashley's father really does love her and is fiercely protective over her.
Ashley is such a delightful character. I love her balance of snarky and sweet. Reading about her was such a treat. She's effortlessly sexy and I enjoyed her steady gentle sarcasm. But my favourite part of her personality is her cool. I could not believe how unfazed she is. I LOOOOOVE her. This is how she responded after one conniving PA first shows her claws.
Olive leaned close and whispered, “Sleeping with someone may have gotten you the job, but I guess whoring won’t save you from filing.”
Ashley - “What? That wasn’t part of your interview too?”
I also loved her bestie Marissa.
While walking, she shot off a text to Marissa. “Hollywood gossip says I slept with someone to get this job.”
Marissa texted, “It’s an unpaid internship. You must not be very good at it.”
This book is so awesome I didn't even mind that the bad guys are completely, ridiculously evil. I found it interesting that while Ashley thinks little of the Hollywood lifestyle, she's not intimidated by it either. She's got wonderful, magical, self-esteem. Why am I waxing poetic over that? Because seriously, with these celebrity romances there's always those whiny, “Why would he like me rade rah? He's out of my league rade rah. I can't cope with the lifestyle rade rah. I'm a nobody rade rah.” Ashley's confidence in herself and her appeal is refreshing.
I liked that Caz and Ashley's relationship don't start off particularly well or particularly badly. It's quite antagonistic but not all out contemptuous. I loved that Ashley is level-headed enough to clear-up potentially long-term assumptions and misunderstandings. Even better, she tends to not make any assumptions herself. Though Olive exudes stereotypical bitch, Ashley still tries to be nice to her. Ashley is an extremely well-rounded character and open-minded to boot.
When Ashley “teaches” Caz how to kiss they try and copy a few movie scripts. It's hilarious the way they pick them apart and realise that those great passionate moments on screen are really awkward when re-enacted in real-life.
Caz is...British. *sigh. Just give me a moment to bask in that. Okay. He's British and of course, that makes him more tantalising than the average hero. While Caz is not quite the tortured hero, there's a lot in his life that's going wrong. The most glaring is his parent's divorce and his agent's manipulations and heavy-handed methods.
When Caz realises that Ashley is not enamored with him and that she's pretty damn funny, the hunt is on. I liked that he has a twin goal of getting to know her, but also pushing her buttons. It definitely isn't sappy chasing – the two happily clash a lot. The author does a good job of capturing a teasing but flirtatious boy-meets-girl.
So despite all the mock-aggression, Caz and Ashley have each other's backs when it counts. This makes for a snappy but adorable romance. My favourite. I loved how Ashley would chatter about her best friend Marisa when she wanted to cheer Caz up. It was so random and cutesy, but it seemed to do the trick. I really enjoyed watching them fall slowly (no insta-love) and deliciously in love with each other. -

This was my third consecutive celebrity romance novel, and also the weakest of the lot. I have read Emily Evans’ books before but Accidental Movie Star did not seem up to par.
Firstly, the title and synopsis appeared a bit misleading to me. I expected Ashley, an ordinary girl, to become a famous movie star after her latent talent for acting was discovered. However, that did not happen, so I guess I can say that the plot was different from what I imagined. The story wasn’t bad overall, but it was so sedentary. Hollywood is supposed to be exciting, right? So, where was the excitement?!
About the characters, I liked Ashley; I rather liked her a lot more than Caspian. But halfway through the book, I started getting exasperated with her. Caspian was cute but so bland, which wouldn’t have been an impediment if he was an ordinary guy, but he lacked the charisma of a movie star. Also, it was mentioned repeatedly that he was a Brit, but except for his obsession with tea (which is rather stereotypical in my opinion), there was nothing else to it. I mean, why impress upon the fact that he’s British if you plan to have him act like any normal (non-Brit) guy?
And the secondary characters were simply paper-thin. The thing that irked me the most was her dad’s character, he was absent for almost the entire length of the book. I knew what car her dad drove, I knew where he worked, but I had no idea WHAT he worked as. Besides, I don’t think even his name was mentioned in there. The author absolutely ignores the minor characters. It was as if those characters were only present for the sake of it, they were not at all developed through the course of the story. Even the angle with Ashley’s best friend seemed kind of incomplete.
If we were to talk about the relationship between Ashley and Caspian then, well, let’s just say that it would be a very short conversation. Half the time, I wasn’t even sure there was a relationship. There was an obvious misunderstanding added near the end of the story, however, even after figuring it out, Caz didn’t immediately go to meet Ashley. He waited until he had time to spare from his busy schedule for that (ever heard of a magical device called the cell phone, buddy?). Moreover, Ashley had to see her emotions portrayed on a movie screen to realise her feelings.
By the end of the book, I was shaking my head. I expected better. I would still try to read the next book in the series. Hopefully, it would be better than this one.
