  This is the first book by Walser I read and it said on the back that it's his best what tells me that I probably don't have to read another one. I found it rather boring and sometimes even annoying. The way Walser describes the feelings of a young female student seems quite strange to me and I really can't understand any of those. It made me wonder if these stories really happen or if it's just the phantasy of an old man.
  Walser tried to make the book philosophical by introducing La Mettrie but this philosophical topic didn't work out for me in connection with the story of the protagonists.
