Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Reviews

    Very cute!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is part of the Classic Collection, which includes The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, , Gulliver's Travels, Little Women, Pinocchio, Robin Hood, Robinson Crusoe, The Secret Garden, The Three Musketeers, Treasure Island, The Wizard of Oz and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

The stories are shortened versions of the originals, along with some wonderful illustrations. In the case of Alice, Ronne Randall adapts Lewis Carroll's classic and Robert Dunn provides the illustrations. Though not the complete story, the adaptation hits some of the highlights and is a wonderful way to get children interested in possibly reading the full-length version of the novel. Of course, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a lot of nonsense, to say the least, which is the reason the story is so charming--not a lot makes sense, yet it does once a reader gets older and goes through it again. So the shortened version of this particular story might not make a lot of sense to a kid, but it might be whimsical enough to get them to want to read more.

My 6 year old read this to me, and we agreed on the 4 star rating. We would read it again!

    Great adaptation for children.

Is it blasphemous to say you didn't like this book?

I bought the audiobook format, read by Scarlet Johansson, as a bed time treat for my daughter and I.

While Scarlet Johansson did a great job with bringing the characters to life with her soothing voice, the content of the story left both of us frustrated and confused.

Maybe the time of enjoyment for a book like this has passed. Yes, this was written in a bygone era, and perhaps it was unique then. Nonetheless, the book was complete nonsense.

If something like this were released today, it would go nowhere. It would get lambasted. The story was terrible and the characters were creepy and psychotic.

It was hard to enjoy the story with how little sense it made. I think you have to be high to appreciate a book like this, and my 6 year old daughter is a little young for that.

I definitely do not recommend this book.

Apesar de já ter visto adaptações deste clássico nunca o tinha lido. E mesmo tendo poucas expectativas, não deixei de me desiludir. Achei a Alice bastante irritante e bocado estúpida também. Prefiro as adaptações ao livro.

I love it! I love Alice's adventures because the caterpillar is cool. I also liked the cards.
