Poetry gives form to our feelings and helps us come to terms with them. Facing a personal crisis, a poem can be the beginning of healing. But if poems are good in a crisis, they are also a way of reaching out for new experiences and renewing our lives. In Forms of Feeling: Poetry in Our Lives, John Morgan investigates the role of poetry in the contemporary world, including where poems come from, the audience for poetry, and the ways in which poetry can offer a spiritual path in a secular time. "Morgan's thought on the inspirations for poetry, the work involved in the craft, and ultimately the uses of poetry, are accessible and lightly instructive in this quiet but generous book."-Kitsap Sun "This unique book appeals to a diverse audience. Writers of all genres will find the book informative and instructive as well as entertaining."-NewPages

I can't be impartial; the author is my dad's cousin. But I highly recommend it to anyone interested in contemporary poetry, life in Alaska, or growing up in New York in the 40s and 50s.
