Yes hi hello I’m obsessed with this book. I read 4 hockey romances in a row and this is easily tied for first place with Behind the Net.
Mickey is trying to save money for her dream by bartending and having a only-fans-esque side gig. And Rhys is falling head over heels for her online persona. After moving into a new apartment and joining a nhl hockey team, he pieces together that his beautiful neighbor is the girl online that he’s been chatting to for MONTHS. But can he tell her he knows without fudging it up 👀
I can’t even begin to explain how much I loved this book. It’s fast paced, has so much angst and depth, and Rhys!!!! His mouth? I’m still thinking about it. Enemies to lovers done in contemporary romance can be a hit or a miss for me. But this one?! Perfection. The groveling?! SIR.
Pls pls pick this book up. I loved it so much.

Another read that I found on TikTok but this was one was actually decent.
It's a little bit trashy, with some very well-written smut - Rhys is a dirty-talking Dom - and an easy-to-follow plot.
I loved our FMC Freya, a cam girl who has a major crush on one of her subscribers. Lucky for her, said subscriber is her new neighbour, a NHL rookie and terrible tipper! Rhys was a grumpy character which I love.
Overall, I fun palate cleanser with good smut! -
This audiobook was incredible! I think I found a new favorite male narrator. 🥰 Full review to come.

If you haven't read Before We Came I suggest reading it first. It's about Birdie and Lonan and Strong and Wild is about Freya/Micky, Birdie's bestie and Rhys, who is teammates with Lonan. Plus, Before We Came is an amazing book!

I absolutely loooooved Micky! She is strong, independent, fierce, and sassy. I also love a sex positive woman! There was no shame in what she needed to do to accomplish her goals. She has always been the dominant one in a relationship/situationship and when Rhys comes into the picture, she has to learn how to let go of that control to feed his dominant side. I love a good brat and Micky was so good at it 😜

I walk away from him and check on my other patrons. When I glance over, he’s looking down at the bartop with a sly smirk. He’s pushing my buttons for shits and giggles. He snaps his fingers at me and points in front of him. Like I’m some puppy he’s trying to train. “I’m sorry, did you just snap at me?”“Yeah, you walked away. You’re supposed to serve me.”
Uuuuummmm, excuse me?! I was like, "Oh hell no!" (I put that note attached to the highlight, lol. My jaw dropped!) But quickly, he grew on me. He had this idea of what his life should be like, but Freya broke every rule he had set into place. Their banter and the push and pull between these 2 was top-notch. As much as Rhys gave her, Freya gave it right back, and it was the perfect match. When it came time for them to finally get together, I was a hot mess, y'all. It was hot af!
Rhys has the perfect balance of degradation and praise, passion, and roughness. He taught Freya how to submit to him, and it was hard for her. She often tried to top from the bottom, and he shut that down real quick. Sometimes, he would entertain her inner brat, and I loved it. Chapter's 29, 30, and 31 will live rent-free in my brain for the rest of my life. The spice is so, so good!!!
There is so much I love about this book. I could write 20 more paragraphs about all the ways I am obsessed, but instead of doing that... just trust me and read this series! I can't wait for Lakes Hockey #3!

It's not everyday I finish a book, and I immediately need to write a review... BUT HERE I AM.
To preface, I saw Strong and Wild appear on my Goodreads feed, and I was like eh... I'll add it to my ever growing hockey romance group. Then I saw it on my TikTok feed, and I think we can all agree TikTok recommendations are hit or miss (with more misses than hits).
For those who think praise and degradation go together like anal sex and aftercare. This one's for you.
Instantly obsessed
For our tropes we have: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, topping a top... I could go on and on. So good.
Trigger warnings: drug addiction
Freya:
- sassy, independent, sometimes a brat
- hard on the outside, soft on the inside
- bar worker at night and OnlyFans type worker at day (and night lol)
- saving money for her future business
- doesn't take any bullshit
Rhys:
- rookie hockey player, which was refreshing. I feel like hockey romances focus on the men being already amazing players, and as readers, we don't get to see their career develop. It was refreshing seeing Rhys go from playing short sprints to making a name for himself.

- has an OnlyFans type account (see the connection?)
- learning to speak up for himself and set boundaries
I won't give everything away, but I immensely enjoyed Rhys and Freya as a couple and as separate characters. They fit together perfectly and experience some painful trauma related to the trigger warnings.
That being said, I highly recommend Strong and Wild! The steam was 5/5. Make sure you have an extra set of panties, everyone, because MY GOD. -

Okay, I’m obsessed with Micky. I loved her in Before We Came but I loved her even more in here. You really get to see more of her back story and why she’s the strong, independent woman she is in S&W. Rhys absolutely simped out for Micky, despite his best efforts to keep distance and not let himself get distracted.
THEIR CHEMISTRY? THEIR SEXUAL TENSION? wooooffff 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 This was one of the spiciest books I’ve read in a HOT MINUTE. It was also my first experience with BDSM and I ain’t mad about it 👀
And, once again, Sloane hooked me from the very beginning and made it impossible for me to put down. And always check your trigger warnings before reading just because there are darker topics that might hit a bit too close to home for some. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about these two and I am absolutely devouring this series.

This book was filled with some of the greatest spice I’ve ever read as well. It was a beautiful Dom/Sub relationship and I ate it up every single time.
Now let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Anna. I appreciate how well Sloane handled the sensitive topic of addiction. But did I want one of two things to happen to resolve the issue? Yes. I didn’t care which of the two was the outcome, I just wanted some resolution to a terrible situation for them all.
The vulnerability Freya showed to Rhys when explaining her past was heart wrenching. And to think we find out those details AFTER she helped Anna. What a wonderful person Freya is.
I loved the conclusion and the HEA these two amazing characters deserved. Also, I’d love to visit a real life Sugar & Ice! -

This book had me in a chokehold when I first read it and it happened all over again when I listened to the audiobook. Rhys Kucera and Freya (Mickey) McCoy are my all time favorite MC’s. The narrator’s delivered this couple’s banter, LOL moments and some soul crushing moments. The spice kicked up a couple of notches with Alex Kydd and Savannah Thomas sexy voices. This duo were the perfect combination to play Rhys & Mickey. Everything combined was just pure perfection 🤌🏼

Wow - this book was intense! Ms St. James continues not to shy away from heavy topics, but manages to do it with care. I absolutely loved Rhys and Freya's hate to lovers. Their passionate natures were just kindling to the fire that is their attraction. Their shared trauma set them up for some failures, but ultimately their success as well. Wonderful storytelling with tons of laugh out loud moments from their snark. Loved Freya, her huge personality and giving heart ❤. I occasionally struggled with Rhys, but ultimately forgave his fumbles. Loving this series! I read book 3 first, so now I'm just waiting on the release of 4 - can't wait! -

Another page turner from Sloane St. James! She has a writing style that I find effortless to read and thoroughly enjoy. In the second installment in her Lakes Hockey series Sloane brings Mickey into the spotlight after introducing her to us in Before We Came. I loved getting to know Mickey and learning all about her. The character development is amazing and the plot was excellently executed. I look forward to reading #3 and, so far, would definitely recommend this series to anyone!

I loved Lonan and Birdie in book one but MY LORD Rhys and Mickey just upped the ante. I had been told by many friends who read this book that this was super spicy and they were not kidding. The mouth on Rhys Kucera was everything I could’ve ever dreamed of and more. Him and Mickey were so dirty and I loved every second of it.

They end up being neighbors by chance and don’t really engage with each other… until Rhys discovers what Mickey does in her free time as a side gig being a cam girl. I really loved that the secret identity trope did NOT last too long and we got more of them together while she worked as a cam girl vs her not knowing who he was, etc. I just loved Mickey’s spit fire personality and how she was didn’t take shit from anyone and stood up for herself all the time. But I also loved how soft she became for Rhys and they both were what each other needed 🥹
I will say this book does go into detail around addiction so please know that going in, while there is no on page drug use there is lots of on page struggles from a character who is impacted heavily by their addiction — just take care of your mental health 🖤 -

One thing about me is that I adore a strong and sassy FMC, and Freya check all the boxes. I love her attitude, drive, and hilarious remarks. When Rhys called her a maneater, I was over here snapping my fingers in agreement. I loved how they “met“ and how their story started. I got a little bit nervous with the sister’s participation in the storyline, but I think it ended up being done beautifully. I truly do not have any words to put together on how much I love this couple together or how feral Rhys was. This is a must!

You know the TikTok sound “when the first book in the series is good, but the second book is the series is like HOLY FK!!” That’s this book. I was not prepared for the spice. I was not prepared for how good it was. I was not prepared to fall in love with Rhys and Micky like I did! I felt so many different emotions reading this story. The third act breakup hurt me so bad, but I loved how strong micky was. She was exactly the person Rhys needed.
