Beauty and the Beast (Disney Beauty and the Beast) (Read-Aloud Storybook) Reviews

  • Emmy Kirkham

    Genre: Traditional
    Grade Level: 1-3

I love the story of the Beauty and the Beast! This follows right along with the movie, so some students would be very familiar with it. I think it would be great to use in my classroom to compare different versions of this story, just like we did with Cinderella. I enjoyed the colorful, familiar drawings in this story, as well as the fast paced, large text. I think this would be a fun book for students!

  • Tessa Zimmerly

    Genre: fictional/ traditional literature
    Grade: 2nd- 3rd

Very colorful book, the pictures are beautiful. It is an easy read, but still very entertaining. This is a great book to use when talking about fairytales.

  • Andrea Flory

This book is good for grades 1-2 and 3-4. It followed the movie pretty well. I would have it in my classroom for students to read it on there own but not in front of the whole class because boys will most likely not want to listen to this book. The genre is traditional literature.

This was my youngest's bedtime reading for the last few days. Wasn't a bad book really. I haven't seem the movie so I am not sure how close it tallies to the film. I do know of at least a couple of scenes that seem to be missing so I will presume the story had to be shortened to fit the format. And of course the songs are missing. I am also not sure how close it is to the original story. However taken by itself this isn't a bad book. It reads briskly. I probably could have finished it quicker than I did but stretched it out a bit for some reason. As well there is definitely more artwork than verbiage per page. If you have a young daughter she is probably going to enjoy this one. Surprisingly I gave it four stars, I expected to give it only three but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Many children are familiar with the beauty and the beast story due to the Disney film. If they are familiar with the story like I am, I would not recommend this story to them because it leaves out parts that we have been accustomed to. Due to leaving out these parts, it seems as if the story jumps around and does not flow well. The story as a whole is still done well with colorful images of support, but I wish that it had not left out as much information as it did when reading it.

  • J.M.

This is a storybook adaptation of the Disney movie, so it follows that script well.

    (4☆ Would recommend)
The movie is great, but being able to sit down with a kid & show them the movie in book form is such a great opportunity for learning.
