The Characters Came to Life!
Paul, Kirsty, and Jennifer were so real, that I feel like I could pick up the phone and give one of them a call! These sorts of ironies and unexpected twists happen in our lives. The characters were broken, dealing with a promiscuous past, dealing with insecurities, dealing with a surprise pregnancy that totally changed plans for the future. The author showed authentic emotional and mental battles; complicated family dynamics, and, of course, wrapped it all in the often angsty climate of Scotland. Well done, Caroline Johnston! I can’t wait to see what your next project is! -
Great Read
I really enjoyed this final book in the Raincoats series, following Kirsty, Paul, and their friends through the joys and challenges leading up to their wedding. It was also fun to learn a bit about Scottish weddings. And just the overall setting in Scotland is even more of a treat for me, since I can now picture it better in my mind after having been there. It was good to travel back to a country I love.
The Scripture themes were encouraging to me as they encouraged the characters in the story. I definitely recommend this series.
