This book absorbed me. The writing was rich, the story was unique and vivid ... the whole experience was very strong. I'm not 100% sure why it's the scholastic icon it is, but I'm sure in a scholastic setting I'd be able to discuss it all day long.
This is probably the book from 2012 that I'll remember the most vividly, years later.
The only real problems I had with it were the pacing, and the beautiful eponymous sentence ... it was lovely and powerful, but it seemed very out of tone with the rest of narrative. -
One of my all time favorites Their Eyes Were Watching God is like chocolate for readers who love beautiful language.
