Death Note, Vol. 3: Hard Run (Death Note, #3) Reviews

I'm still loving this series!
Now L and Light are hanging out together. I know right?
I really hope this series has a happy ending! NO ONE TELL ME!
Mel ♥ -
You know what? It does not matter what you read, what genre or if it's a manga. The only important thing is if you like the story.
And I can tell you that I like Death Note very much to the point where I can say it makes me feel physically good. I feel myself smiling and relaxing; I'm excited to turn the page.
I need more of this in my life.
And what else can I say? I'm so happy that Misa is finally on the scene. I love her chaoticness and childish glee. And do I need to mention that she is my namesake? -
Death Note, Vol. 3: Hard Run (Death Note, #3), Tsugumi Ohba
In order to keep working, Light hides a LCD Mini Television in a bag of chips to see criminals while he writes their names acting as if he is studying.
L decides to remove the cameras, but still suspects Light as a Kira. Some time later, Light enters into the Toho University, where he meets L, who reveals his own identity in order to study Light's reactions.
L reveals to Light that he suspects he is Kira, which forces Light to ally with him to prove he is innocent. Soon the channel Sakura TV airs a video from a person with Kira's powers telling people to stop bothering Kira by killing the anti-Kira commentators.
Soichiro manages to enter Sakura TV's building with an armored car without being seen, and stops the broadcast. Light notes that the one who made the tapes is an ally for him and that has obtained the shinigami's eyes, allowing him to see anybody's real name and lifespan.
After realizing there is another Kira, L requests Light to join them to stop the second Kira. Ohba said that he often struggled while selecting chapter names, but for chapters 15 through 23 he had the titles selected early; he said that he was "on a roll" during that time. ...

Death Note builds on the suspense established in the first issue. Light's long war of face-to-face encounters with L has finally begun, and characters, relationships, and stories are beginning to intersect. These psychological, mind-game panels have an undeniable charm.
-
It's a Misfortune Volume..
"They say humans haunted by Shinigami have nothing but misfortune.”
— Ryuk
Okay, So you think all it'll be just 'The Hunter and Haunted"?
Well, think again..
The surveillance between L & Light, Light & L is taken to whole higher level.. and it sure drive Light insane..But he's smart, he'll recover...
BUT...again, Think AGAIN..“Kira is evil ... There's no denying that ... But lately I've been starting to think of it more like this ... The real evil is the power to kill people”
The Moral I thought about since the beginning is told here by Soichiro 'Light's Father' in a very misfortune circumstances..
But I am still Team Light, there's too much Misfortune deeds happen to innocent people BY Those who MUST JUST DISAPPEAR.
But did you thought just by doing that, you kill someone yourself... you take a soul...you're Death...you're cursed, Misfortune...
Well, in this volume you can see how Misfortune Light , he almost get insane really with facing "L" face to face and dealing with him...
BUT by the end of this volume. the course of the story will take a strange level.... Kira start acting crazy and clumsy...he sends videos to the Media....sending message to the Japaneses and the NPA...and L.
It's crazy move truly , could Light be that Misfortune to do that? or he has a Bigger plan?
******************
It's really smart volume , that should have titled "Misfortune"
A huge plot twists come unexpectedly chapter after chapter , the curse is here...and Light still can't see it.
New character appears I believe will make the next volume even more exciting.
And Now ,let's see the chapter by chapter rate;
Trash (5 Stars)
How Light get his killing with all the cameras around his room? if he didn't do any ,it will be even more suspension.. A smart chapter.
Gaze (4 Stars)
Well, no more cameras.. It was almost getting normal again..BUT The Gaze in the ending is a real 5 stars Twist.
The next chapters are just like a great Ping-Ping game.....
Humiliation (5 Stars)
The Messers and the Messies.... Light in Collage, and his colleague is .... "L"
First Move (5 Stars)
Still a Ping-Pong.... and it's getting smarter..
Duplicity (5 Stars)
Light & L will try to work together!!! but it's not the twist...the twist is how to write an end to this thrilling chapter...
Misfortune (4 Stars)
Here Light's father will deliver his line of Misfortune, But Will Light accept that?
Hard Run (4 Stars)
I almost hated it....I'm team Light BUT This chapter he's just went so far....
funny he's not here to explain..
Shield (4 Stars)
Still , had Light gone insane? totally insane? it's "L" chance now to get closer to him.
Fool (5 Stars)
Oh my God......We've been fools to believe all of it..
It's really big twist..
I just love how smart the authors are..it's a really great thrilling read.

Yet again, another stellar installment of the Death Note series!
This third volume felt more action-packed than its predecessors. The good/bad binaries became even more muddied and the the art work turned darker in tone to accommodate it. It felt like this volume marked a shift in the series, where from here on out we have entered more into the world of the psychological thriller. Again, there were many levels to this and many genres were converged on, but it primarily had a crime-based theme. This was enhanced by the increasing focus on the police detectives and the mysterious L, who are attempting to solve the case of the homicidal maniac murdering both convicted criminals and the police members attempting to trap him. This insight into the two conflicting sides of the case make this compelling reading!
In true Death Note style, this has ended on a cliffhanger that is making it impossible for me to stop now! I am a true convert into the Manga world. -
I’m on
BookTube now! =)
There’s something to be said about series that are able to surprise you and “Death Note” is definitely one of them. After volume two I thought it would be really hard to top the cat-and-mouse game Light and L were already playing but boy, was I wrong! Volume 3 really lifted it to an entirely different level and I have no idea how those two characters aren’t freaking out. XD I mean if I’d be in their shoes I really wouldn’t be able to stand the pressure. Light and L though?! They just shrug it off and plan their next chess move. *lol*
Which brings me to the brilliant brain Tsugumi Ohba must have. I mean to think in those kinds of dimensions and to let your characters always be a step ahead of the other. Wow!! It takes quite a mind to think things through like that. So yes, Tsugumi Ohba has all my respect for creating two characters like L and Light and for being able to effortlessly keep this kind of arc of suspense. It’s really amazing and I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us.
As for the storyline: Things are heating up considerably and the tension was running high! There were chapters in which I gripped my volume and just continued to read without taking a single breath. The thing that had me really intrigued is that they are both playing with open cards even though they don’t play with open cards. If you know what I mean?! *lol* It boggles the mind!
I wonder what Light’s father is going to think once he finds out that his son is Kira. And I’m sure in one of those 13 volumes he will. It’s just a matter of time...
Also the ending! It’s interesting that there is a copycat now. And I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next! I’m sure this copycat Kira will mix up things a little... or well, actually A LOT! *lol*
Volume 4! I’m ready! =)

I'm going to read this real quick today because
1.) I want to know how it continues!!!
2.) I finally got this volume from my library!
3.) It's a quick read and I really want to finish more than just 3 books in July! I need to defend my honor as a book reviewer! *lol*
4.) I'm finally healthy enough to actually read again! =)
Okay, so let's do this! ;-) -
This storyline keeps twisting, twisting and twisting.
I did not see that ending at all - i did not expect this to head in this direction. -
Really love where the story is going and how even more layers have been added to the suspense. Looking forward to seeing what will happen next!

"They say humans haunted by Shinigami have nothing but misfortune.”
— Ryuk, A Shinigami
This Manga series' plot development has been far beyond my expectations. I'm still amazed at how much information has been crammed into such a small amount of space.
Whether I agreed with them or not, I liked most of the characters. Light is a fantastic lead character. L is an excellent counterpoint for Light, symbolising morality and purity in contrast to Light's immorality and cruelty. L is also the only character who understands Light, whilst most of the other characters are useless and easily manipulated by him.
Let me say that I admire his quirkiness. Instead of sitting, he squats on the chairs. He chews on his thumb. Everything is amusing.

Well that was confusing and amazing and challenging and suspenseful and a lot to take in👀
I freaking KNEW there was another Kira out there. I originally thought it was the same creature who gave Light his Deathnote (I forgot his name) because they mentioned he had two. But now it’s not his. Idk how I feel about there being a second Kira. Especially a girl💀 idk if it works as well. I like the continuous battle between Light and L. Not Light, L, and some new girl interfering😩 -
Light Yagami is a megalomaniac monster and must be stopped. Go Team L!
-
" Having a suspect help you investigate, while the suspect is being investigated...that's a fine idea."
Spoilers ahead!
L has talked to Raito and L's suspicions of Raito being Kira are increasing day by day.
Also, wouldn't it be fun if there were two Kiras? 😗 -

**This is a spoiler free review (spoilers are hidden); it may contain spoilers for previous instalments in series (scroll down)**
The past two reviews of this series have been using my usual graphic novel/comic book/manga review format, but now that the writing style is pretty much constant, I won't remark on is as much and so I am going back to a more traditional form of review. That being said, maybe I'll notice a shift later on and go back to focusing on the previous review format if need be.
That being out of the way, Hard Run was not on quite the level of the previous two instalments, but that being said, it was still good. I found it a bit more boring (just the lack of engagement until the very end made it more of a slog). This brought my enjoyment of it down. I also felt like this one was more "padded" if you will when compared to, for example, the first volume where each chapter had a specific thing it was going for.
The one area that was fascinating to read about was the confrontation between L and Light. In fact, their manoeuvring right now, though maybe not 100% realistic, keeps me on the tip of my toes.
A significant plot twist occurs, but I will address it in my spoiler section:
All in all, weakest volume so far, but still a good read.

My favorite of the series so far!
This is such a crazy smart series, and the plot keeps twisting in ways I'd never expect. Light and L are both fascinating characters and it was super interesting getting in both their heads as they face off.
It still moves a little slow at times and I'm not certain what I think overall-- but I'm definitely invested in seeing where this is going. -
Yılın ilk kitabı olaraktan dört puan verecektim ama o sonda resmen son dakika golü attı be!

THEY'RE MULTIPLYING -
The mind games were just exquisite and very intense. I'm rest assured now.

4.5 stars - Spoilers
-Liked this more than Volume 2. It was more engrossing and the battle of wits between L and Light was immensely entertaining.
-I didn't expect L to reveal himself to Light, it was a cool twist. I loved seeing them both trying to stay one step ahead of each other.
-The twist at the end was great. I was wondering how Kira/Light was killing off people without knowing their names - I really didn't see the second Kira thing coming at all.
-I'm glad the second Kira was a girl but I'm annoyed at how dumb she seems. I also hated that the driving force behind her actions was just so she could impress Kira.
-I'm not impressed that all the female characters have either been silly and submissive or have only acted a certain way because of a male character. I don't think it's asking much to have one well rounded female character whose world doesn't revolve around a guy.
-Looking forward to volume 4. -
*I actually read Volume 3 in the Black Editions, but you can't count the volumes separately there so here we are.
"They say humans haunted by Shinigami have nothing but misfortune.” — Tsugumi Ohba, Death Note, Vol. 3: Hard Run
One of the best cat-and-mouse games I've ever seen in literature, tbh. Light and L are absolutely brilliant. The tension was high, and the reading experience is addictive! I sat down and finished this in about 1 1/2 hours. Also,
However, I feel like outside of the main tension, the characters fell flat. I feel like the characters didn't progress. Light's losing it a little bit more, but everyone just felt stagnant. Also, there are still scenes of casual sexism, which serves no purpose. So why is it there?
Volume 2 is still my favorite, but I am so excited for Volume 4!! -
This one was kind of slow ... I mean I liked all the smart conversations, however it only consisted of talking. I wish it would’ve been more action-packed like the previous two.

In the final parts I tried to be better about taking the time to look at the graphics as well as reading the story as I had noticed my tendency to just read the text and speach bubbles I was so engrossed in what was happening I wanted to know more, I needed to know more.. xD
I am enjoying myself SO, so much, I feel like a broken record saying it over and over again, but I really do :-) And I finished this in time to go to the library today, too, I'm considering if I should just check out the rest of the series while I'm there, if they have them xD
And I'm still terrible at reviews, I'm sorry... xD
Anywhoddle... I am quite loving this, I recommend it, highly, I think it's a good place to start if you have no prior experience with manga, like me :-) I plan to put the Black Edition of these, that are available from BookDepository on my christmas wishlist O:) -
Wow! I think so far this is my favorite volume!
Firstly, Light is downright scary!
Secondly, L is one of the most insightful and competent detectives I've ever come across, and while I know next to nothing about him I strongly believe he is a great human being!
Thirdly, every single character is so fleshed out and realistic!
Fourthly,
Tsugumi Ohba has done a marvelous job creating a clever and suspenseful story full of though provoking messages!
Lastly, this volume really upped the ante and I can't wait to find out what happens next! -
I've never once considered finding that notebook and gaining this power a misfortune. In fact, it's made me happier than I've ever been. And I'm going to create a perfect world.
Light continues to be a psychopath. Light's dad continues to be a total badass. L continues to actually live up to his reputation at his own funky pace. This serious continues to be a lot of fun. I have trepidation about the reveal from that last set of panels and the fact that the next volume is entitled Love, but let's see how it goes, right? -
4.5 stars
I haven’t binged a manga like this since FMA.
Really loving the development, and even though I know what’s coming because I’ve watched the manga, it’s still keeping me hooked. Sometimes Light is just way too cocky though, but it’s definitely part of his personality. -
1) Kde je můj deathnote!? NO? KDE JE!
2) Ten deathnote potřebuju A K U T N Ě --> ASAP
3)proč mám pocit, že bude fakt sranda <3 -
Gefällt mir :)
