The founder of popular children's décor brand Petit Collage brings her signature collage style and modern, kid-friendly sensibility to picture books with this story of an attention-seeking little monkey with a great big imagination. When Monkey jumps high, he decides he must be a rabbit. When he roars, Monkey just knows he must be a lion--until Lion shows him how loudly a real lion can roar. In this playful game of "monkey see, monkey do," Monkey and his animal friends share what makes each of them special just the way they are.
Monkey See, Look at Me! Reviews

This is probably more of a 3.5, but my grandchild liked it enough to want to read it again after reading a couple of others. They liked making the sounds and it is simple enough that the child can predict what is going to happen from the very nice, yet simple illustrations and the very sparse amount of words, as well as the repeating. I liked it too, which is nice when you have to continue to read the same book again and again.

it's ok, not my favorite, but it does have monkeys in it. it's good for toddlers maybe? it has a monkey pretending to be other animals and then they are like, no silly monkey, i'm a (blah), it's sort of demeaning to the monkey? not impressed with the tone, but it is cute.

Read at bedtime for over a week at age 3.
-
Great for Toddler Story Time.
-
Cute for talking about animals. A very active book!
-
simple short story good for toddler may be even a lap sit.

My five-year-old son picked out this book last week. He liked it because he could read part of it by himself.
Poor Monkey, he's not even allowed to pretend to be other animals around his way-too-serious friends. I think this book could have been better if all the animals acted like the elephant or the lion. Obviously, the lion would make the best lion, but it also would have reinforced the fun of pretending and using one's imagination. -
Fun (yet familiar) story of a monkey pretending to be a different kind of animal.
"I'm a bird!"
"No, silly monkey. I'm a bird."
The cute illustrations and cheerful animals transform the book from "something I've seen many times before" to a great choice for Toddler Time. It could be used for a Toddler Time about monkeys, sounds, animals or friends.

Eye catching illustrations by Lorena Siminovich, founder of the popular Children’s décor brand, Petit Collage make for a delightful story about a game of Monkey See, Monkey Do. Children will appreciate how Monkey wants to show off by pretending to be a bird, an elephant and even a lion. His animal friends help him realize how unique and special they each are.

A playful monkey wants some attention and shows off his mimic the actions of other animals. But each time, he is reminded by the real McCoy that while he may, for instance, be able to hop up and down like a rabbit, he isn't a rabbit. In the end, all the animals join him in swinging up high. The digital collage illustrations make it clear that the monkey has made quite a few friends.

I probably liked this one the best from the recent monkey themed story time my daughter and I attended. This is an adorable monkey who is pretending to be lots of different animals only to meet those animals on the next page. Cute illustrations and the kids enjoyed pretending to be rabbits, lions, monkeys, etc.

Something about the monkey was throwing me - the heart nose? No? Well a little bit, but it was more than that. Then it occurred to me! The monkey has on pants while the rest of the animals are "au naturel" - Implausible! Either dress them all or take off the monkey's pants!

Age: Infant
Great read-aloud for the bright illustrations and the contrasting concepts. Although the monkey's wearing trousers but no other animals are wearing clothes, it does present a nice visual differentiation. -

I would read this book during an animal unit. I would then play a game of monkey see, monkey do with my students. This game could tie in well with social studies and other topics. I like how the monkey helps students explore other animals by pretending to be them.
-
This book has sweet illustrations. I think it would be a good book to use in either a toddler or preschool storytime. The illustrations would appeal to young ones and there is the option of incorporating the movements of the different animals while reading the story.

It didn't flip my bic.
-
I like the pictures and the repeating elements.
-
A silly monkey book perfect for (toddler) storytime.
-
All I could think was that this was a bit of a killjoy story. How annoying is it to be having fun pretending something only to be told you're not REALLY what you're pretending to be?
-
Charming illustrations and interactive elements make this a natural for toddler storytime.
-
Interesting and appealing digital collage illustrations; humorous story
-
this would work with my toddlers....better as a prop-and-tell story. make animals, tape to sticks and have toddlers act out the scenes/movements.
-
Note to self: this one might work well with toddlers.
-
This would be cute for a toddler storytime!
