From slow-cooked stews and quick stir-frys to paellas and pilafs, the spectacular array of dishes in this cookbook will serve you through the seasons. No matter what you are in the mood for—comforting casseroles, braised meats, creamy chowders, frittatas and risottos, hearty pot pies, cheesy gratins, baked pastas, or spicy gumbos, curries and tagines—you'll find an enticing meal that can be made or presented all in one vessel.
Endlessly versatile and easy to prepare, one-pot meals are the ideal solution to what’s for dinner. Whether it’s slow-cooked short ribs, a hearty casserole, or a healthy stir-fry bursting with seasonal vegetables, the collection of main course recipes found in this book will provide inspiration throughout the year.
Fresh spring vegetables, like sugar snap peas, leeks, and tender asparagus bring new life to baked pastas, creamy risottos, and fluffy frittatas. In summer, the garden bounty stars in lighter fare like braised meat dishes with diverse flavors, roasted and stir-fried seafood, stratas, and enchiladas. In autumn, root vegetables take a leading role in pot roasts, gratins, and rustic tarts while classic comfort foods, such as meat loaf and baked ziti with sausage, are back-to-school favorites. Rich and savory dishes like meat pies, fall-off-the-bone lamb tagines, spicy curries, herbed cassoulets, and warming stews feed a crowd and keep winter’s chill away. Williams-Sonoma One Pot of the Day offers 365 recipes for delicious, seasonal food that is made or finished in one pot, including many meatless and oven-to-table selections. Colorful calendars at the beginning of each chapter offer an at-a-glance view of the dishes best suited for the ingredients, occasions, and typical weather of the month. From January to December, you’ll find a variety of one-pot dishes to satisfy any craving and suit any meal, with accompanying notes offering ideas for variations, garnishes, and other tips. With this comprehensive book as your guide, you’ll discover an enticing recipe for every day of the year.
Full-color photographs enhance many of the recipes to help guide your cooking. You’ll be amazed at the wide range of dishes from which to choose—just open this book, check the calendar, and discover an exciting new one-pot dish to try.
Williams-Sonoma One Pot of the Day: 365 Recipes for Every Day of the Year Reviews
-
Another winner from William Sonoma! Delicious, easily shop-able, primarily meat centric recipes structured around a season calendar. This book takes the thinking out of weekly meal planning. Most recipes are for 4-6 portions.

Fuck this book, It certainly implies an actual meal per day, but loads of these are just side dishes.
And also it implies that it's the kind of meal you make in ONE POT.
What with the title of the book
NOT true, the first recipe literally needs A heavy saucepan, A large pot, a frying pan, and a baking dish...
nope! -

I received a copy of this via firstreads. I love the variety of recipes in this cookbook. I also like how it has a recipe calendar at the beginning of each month and talks a bit about each month's seasonal foods. The recipes for each day are also geared to that time of the year so you find recipes that fit the season. However, there are a few downsides to this book. One of which is that some of the recipes are sides and not main dishes. From the write up and the title one is led to believe that you will only use one pot to make 365 meals, but in reality it is 365 dishes whether that is a main coarse or a side and several times the book will recommend several day's dishes to be put together for a meal. The other thing that disappointed me was that there were not more pictures. Do not get me wrong I have seen and read many a cookbook with much less in the way of pictures, but I had been hoping to see more all the same. It seemed to me that every time I wanted to see a picture of a dish there never was one and the pictures that there were seemed to be for recipes I would not want to make, but that could just be my luck. Overall, I think this is a great book to have on hand since you can find a recipe for whatever type of food you have a hankering for and who doesn't what to have less dishes at the end?

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway in return for an honest review. The recipes in this book represent a broad variety of ethnic regions-- Asia, the Mediterranean, Northern Africa, France and down-home American to name a few. Because I live in a rural area, I was concerned that the recipes might call for exotic or extravagant ingredients that are not readily available here. The vast majority of these recipes can be prepared from items in my pantry or those available in the local grocery stores. Some of the more exotic spices can be purchased on a road trip to near-by cities. It would be good to keep red and white wine on hand as well. The cooking techniques are not elaborate and no special tools are equipment are needed. Preparation times vary widely--not all are quick and easy after work meals. Having only had this book for a week, I have tried a limited number of dishes--but all were easy to prepare and tasty. This is a book I plan to use frequently to add variety at my family's meals.

This book is nice but not amazing. Its great for beginners I think, if they are stuck for ideas what to cook, the book has made it easy as each and every day there is a new recipe.
If you have been cooking for a while you may already know a lot of the recipes, but there are a few inspired recipes in there too. Great for winter cooking. -
Literally not a single recipe I haven't seen many times before.
That said, if you didn't know how to use the internet and had only one cookbook, this could be a good one. A lot of variety (although if you were actually eating through it day-by-day it'd e too much meat for the normal person), and mostly one-pot recipes (although a lot of them aren't TRULY one-pot). -
I can't wait to start making some if these dishes. It will be fun to open the book to the day if the year and see what I should cook!
-
Yum! Love this book! I will have to try all the recipes but it will probably take more than a year. Maybe like 365 months. Will come to give my take on each of the recipes.
-
There's a great variety of recipes; however, there weren't enough tasty sounding recipes to make this a must-have for me.
-
I really liked everything I've made from this so far.
-
I wanted "one pot" recipes meaning, a meal where you only need to use one pot, as on the front cover. This is not it.
Also, the photos were lovely but most recipes were not pictured. -
Okay cookbook.

Great concept. Surprisingly overwhelming.
