Well, it was just Okay not like I was hearing for so long.
There wasn't any twists and turns. It was just a plane read. Author didn't let us to guess things.
But still a good read. I enjoyed it.
P.S.
By reading this, I came to know some more facts about story which I didn't know before. ^__^ -
I do not think that my mother ever really knew me. I was a tomboy, and all she wanted to give me were these stupid Disney books. Maybe she thought if I read books like Cinderella and this 1 that I would be looking for a prince or some other rich man. She was not happy that I married a carpenter/plumber, but I was.
Why do they write this kind of books for girls? I was lucky that I was too old for the barbie dolls. What kind of Values do these give to little girls?
As a result, I missed out on a lot of good adventure books and am too old to enjoy them now. But I did love Robinson Crusoe. -
(Included in the Blue Fairy Book under the title of The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods)
Like many young girls, my first version of Sleeping Beauty was the Disney one, so it was interesting to see the difference between Grimm's original version and the Disney one, as well as a couple of retellings of this story I read in 'light' versions of this tale, mainly in school.
It doesn't seem like much of a tale since it's abut someone who's sleeping, but this old story certainly has inspired some creative retellings of it in various media, and it is worth comparing the different versions of this tale. -
Whenever I think of Walt Disney I remember sleeping beauty one of the best stories that never seems to age. Loved the book and the film that really bought this story to life much to the delight of children both big and small.
My children and grandchildren love sleeping beauty. One of our favourite classic stories. Recommended. -
Review to come.

Briar Rose is a classic faerie tale for children from the Brothers Grimm. This is the original story of Sleeping Beauty and the tale that inspired the numerous remakes and rewrites and movies.
I really enjoyed this. I had never read the original Briar Rose story before reading this so coming across it on the app made my heart fill with joy and I settled down immediately to read it. It was the traditional tale I had always remembered, and yet, something new at the same time.
I found no qualms what so ever with Briar Rose, other than the whole, the prince came in and was like ‘hey, I’m gonna kiss this sleeping princess’. This is the reason I knocked a star off. Traditional, but it still irked me. They didn’t have to write it in. I’d recommend this to anyone who likes classics, faerie tales, or children’s stories. This one is a definite for anyone with children; it’s a good story for reading aloud.
I think this was perfect. I don’t think it was too dark and twisted, as what is usually expected from the Grimm Brothers Faerie Tales. It was short and sweet (expected), and I didn’t really get anything from this. There seemed to be no moral to the story, and it was really nice just to be able to sit and read a faerie tale without having to expect some form of lesson. -
Classic fairy tale love-story that I loved reading to my daughter and derive pleasure from the simple story.

My love of reading started when i was young, and it gives me immense pleasure to provide books to Spread the Word Nevada, an organization that passes them on to children in the community. They are a terrific organization supporting an important cause. If your local I encourage you to check them out. For those living further a field, look in your own community, their may already be a similar program in place. And if not, you can always help start one.

Myself, I go out on the weekends and
shop thrift store and bulk book lots to rescue books and donate them. Sometimes I'll find a book I remember reading when I was young and will read it again before passing it on.
I don't rate these books using my normal scale, instead I give most of them three stars. This isn't a Criticism of the book, simply my way of rating them as good for children. -
Hmm. Well. This is another children's book made by Disney that skips some stuff. The only difference seems to be that the author, whoever the actual person was, decided to do the 'tell the reader it happened' thing instead of the 'let them read through the thing that happens' thing. Not entirely a bad read aside from the cardinal sin of mentioning that a song was being sung, but neglecting to mention what the song is called or any recognizable lyrics. Hmm... 2 stars.

An interesting story. An evil curse makes a princess fall asleep for a hundred years.
A surprise was that the hundred years had passed, and it was not the prince who woke her up. She would have woken up, anyway. -
- Federico y Catalinita
- El Enano Saltarín
- Los dos hermanos
- Hermano Chistoso
- Juan el de la suerte
- La niña de los gansos -
4 stars. This is the original story behind Sleeping Beauty. I really enjoyed.

Similar story to what we know, very fairytale like with a happy ending. Quite enjoyed it.

This is one of my favourite fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers; this book has influenced so many adaptations like Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and more recent Maleficent.
This book is about a King and a Queen longing for a child and because of the Queens kindness to a fish in need he granted there wish and had a beautiful baby girl. The King and Queen wanted to invite all the fairies but only had a certain amount of places so they decided to invite all but one and did not tell her. That fairy made a surprising entrance and put a cure on the princess that on her fifteenth birthday she would prick her finger on a spinning wheel and be put to sleep for one hundred years and the fairy disappeared. The King made an order that all of the spinning wheels will be collected and burnt, to avoid the curse.
On the day of her fifteenth birthday the King and Queen were out and the princess was at the castle by herself; she went exploring in the castle and found a tower, she went up the narrow stairs to find a golden key in the door. The Princess was so excited and opened the door to find an old lady with this weird object spinning, she went it and questioned the lady about the object and begged for turn; as soon as the Princess tried the spinning wheel she pricked her finger and the fairy’s curse was completed. It wasn’t just the Princess that was put into a deep sleep but it was the whole of the castle, the King and Queen arrived just before the curse begun and was put to sleep as was all the staff, animals and even the fire stopped blazing.
So many years passed and the thorns around the palace grew so high that you couldn’t see the palace, and the stories of the Princess Briar Rose went throughout the land. So many princes have tried to fight through the thorns but none succeed. On the day of the hundredth year another prince attempted to rescue Briar Rose, but when he approached the castle there was no thorns but beautiful flowers and a magnificent castle; he astonished as he walked through into the castle everything was sleeping. As he roamed through the castle he finally found Briar Rose; amazed by her beauty he could not stop himself from kissing her. His kiss woke Briar Rose and the rest of the castle and they were wedded as soon as possible.
One of my favourite types of stories have the happily ever after; these types of books I use as an escape from reality, which is why I love fantasy because it’s something that I will never experience in real life. Most girls have always dreamt of being a princess and reading these stories allow you to get lost within the fairy tale.
I think these books would be great for the book corner in a class room for other little girls to get the same, similar or even their own experience and feelings from this beautiful tale.
From my experience in a school, fairy tales can be used within literacy however it needs to be rightly suited to the learning outcomes and objectives; for example if we were discussing adverts in literacy we could link that to Briar Rose by asking the children to create a advert for a company who wants princes to claim the reward of rescuing Briar Rose.
This book can be accessible for a range of ages, the younger children would love an adult reading this book to them, so they can go on a journey together but as the child gets older this can be used for independent reading for the child might want to go on the journey alone.
This is a great fairy tale and the book is fantastically written by the Grimm Brothers. -
I have never loved that fairy tale, I couldn't find any morals, I mean, sleeping for 100 years, Ok, we can deal with that, but falling in love with the princess before even meeting her or seeing what she looks like? And a queen mother who's an ogress and who's planning to eat your family? Come on!
And asking the first guy you see when you wake up, "are you my prince?" while you should be frightened to death? :D are you kidding me?!
Anyway, I had fun reading the book with some new surprises that I've completely forgotten about :D -
This was a story that I wouldn't have children read by themselves. Possibly read aloud to them to get the story across but honestly I think the tales that are more modernized are more appropriate for children. It wasn't really like the other grimm stories it was a happy ending, but I don't think it would captivate their attention.
-
My all-time favorite Disney story--not for the storyline or plot, but for the art, which for its time was tops. And the heroine is gorgeous, too (You will recognize Audrey Hepburn's eyes in Aurora's face)!
-
like the book, but enjoy the movie more.

The secret political life of plants. Even Rilke was captured by it.

I've arranged my thoughts on this rendition of Briar Rose, one of the milder versions out there, into a haiku:
"Submerged in rem sleep. . .
The dull hush of fireless breath,
Waiting to age up." -
