Holly Dunn is starting life anew after her divorce is finally final. Life is tough, but thankfully, her ex father-in-law (formerly the town sheriff) remains her staunchest supporter, always lending a hand to assure Holly and her children have what they need.

When handsome new undersheriff, Matt Sanders, moves to town, she is embarrassed that their initial meeting happens on the roadway, when he pulls her over for speeding. He’s stern-faced and all-business, but Holly discovers there’s a heart of gold behind the badge.

Thanks to her former father-in-law, who has known Matt’s family for years, the undersheriff becomes a fixture in the family’s lives. Holly finds herself relying on him more and more, but soon decides it’s unfair to cast him in the role of “knight in shining armor.” She is determined to stand on her own two feet and ultimately pushes him away.

Matt wants a future with Holly, but wonders, can he convince her he’s ready to commit? And if he does, will she ever be able to fully trust again?

I really liked the story line I thought it was great! And the characters were well developed However there are a couple of things that rubbed me the wrong way First of all, half way through the book the author starts referring to holly as Jenna. Ok I get it. Her name started as Jenna but was switched to holly. Fine. Good. Great. Except when you change a character name change ALL of them. Please!! At one point I was so confused I had no idea who the heck Jenna was! Grrr then after she was called Jenna three times IN A ROW I wanted to throw my kindle! Ahhhhhh that really irritated me Second. I loved that Matt just threw himself in there and fell for the kids so quickly. However I think the story missed out on Matt and holly/Jenna really forming a bond then bam they loved each other. It would have been nice if they dated or had late night conversations...something. Anything! I would recommend this book to my friends but with a few warnings. It was a cute story.

    So many editorial mistakes

So often the gender of the character being referred to was wrong. Lots of spelling errors and unfortunately the story wasn't engaging enough to make up for the sheer number of errors. The character development was incredibly basic, nothing really happens until about 80% of the way through the book. Would not recommend and I wouldn't read anything else by this author

This book is free on amazon so since I was looking for a book, I gave it a shot. I liked this book. Not incredibly well written and the story line is basic:

    1) girl gets treated horribly by husband who leaves her
    2) girl gets pulled over by officer who then becomes a fixture in her life
    3) ex husband continues to menace her and her kids
    4) officer is knight who is everything she wants but denies herself

Very fast read, entertaining. I'm a sucker for a love story- velveeta style.

I love this book. It had me interested the whole time and I didn't want to put it down. It by far one of the sweetest and best romances I've read. I loved how through all the trials of a divorce from a horrible relationship Holly (the main character) finally found a person she could lean on and she allowed herself to trust someone again after her bad marriage.

finished this book in one day. not bad but definitely not amazing writing. I think most highschoolers could've written it and there were a lot of grammatical errors and at one point they put in the wrong name for the main character and that was annoying.

  • Georgina

Two and a half to three stars.

I liked the story and the journey of the characters getting to know one another but I do like more romance - a little kiss at the end isn't enough for me - just personal preference.

  • Kim

I thought this was a cute story, super clean with only a few times where they take the Lord's name. It was a nice break after all the dystopian and vampire books I've been reading lately. There's not a lot of substance to it, just a nice little love story.

So so. I thought the writing style was amerturish. In fact the editing was poor too because Holly's name was originally Jenna and when the author changed to Holly she didn't get all of the changes made. I just thought the style was distracting.

    Predictable but good

None of the disasters was too scary, the couples meeting and falling in love was very predictable from the start but that didn't make the story any less enjoyable. Light read, upbeat.

  • Danielle Calabrese

Really cute story about a women rebuilding her life after a divorce. Good character development, and it was free, so you really can't beat it!

Enjoyed it lots. A good read

  • Michelle Bard

book was a good book and a quick read! Very predictable but still enjoyable :)

  • Carrie

This is a sweet, easy, read of a love story. Nothing unbelievable or overly dramatic, clean, nice feel-good ending. Not something that's going to blow your mind, but a nice no-brainer.

  • Susan Cruz

I liked the story, but it was very predictable. I found myself getting annoyed with Holly. She was very whiny. I wish there were a lot of men in the world that were as good and caring as Matt.

  • Trish Sanders

Sweet, enjoyable story about a woman learning to trust after being betrayed in love. Very nice.
