Just one thing before I begin: I'm a firm believer of rating things in context. By that I mean that if I'm in the mood for an action-type book, I wouldn't look at a romantic comedy. Equally, if you're not in the mood to read a how-to book with anecdotes thrown in, you probably won't be as happy with How to pack like a Rockstar.
To me, the book was everything I expected and more. Admittedly, in my opinion it almost deserves 5 stars just for its mere existence. If you're well-travelled there's probably not too much you haven't figured out yourself yet, but it's highly entertaining and certainly great for someone who's up to their first big adventure. I myself love packing, it gets me all excited and worked up for travelling, and I truly enjoy it. So I just loved the idea that there's someone else out there who feels passionate enough about it to write a book about it. On top of that, it features some of my favourite bands, is really well laid out and isn't afraid of showing a diversity of opinions on topics.
I don't know if it's because I ordered a copy from overseas, but I got a handwritten note with mine apologising about the postage price! That certainly blew my mind - I mean, how often does that happen to you when you buy a book? I think that goes to show Shaun really cares about it and rightfully so, it's a delightful, lighthearted read. I can only recommend it!
