From Eroica with Love, Vol. 8 Reviews

There are some translation choices that probably would have played out differently had this been done more recently (the r-word crops up a couple times, for example.) Mostly, I find the characters really grating by this point. The first part of the plot, involving a hijacked plane, is pretty exciting. But then the plane lands outside a convent in Spain and things get cringey.
Dorian feels more and more like an over-the-top stereotype of a gay man and less like an exciting rogue. Klaus's attitude towards women is - yikes.
I'm a bit mystified over why I enjoyed these so much back in the 00s. Although maybe the fan translations were better - I read those too, back in the day, but I honestly can't remember.
Anyway, Eroica is an interesting relic from another time and a fascinating example of early shojo but these days I'm finding it challenging to enjoy. -
mad 70s spy vs spy shonen-ai precursor. very silly, also very funny (of particular note in this volume is the scene where iron klaus carryies out his mission in the toyshop).
