Negotiating the Self Reviews

Evans is skilled and apt at explaining complex ideas in simple terms without losing any of the complicity. The book really made me think deeply about how as educators and people in general, we are constantly negotiating our identities and subjectivity and revealing ourselves in local spaces via global discourses.

This was a fascinating exposition and study. I found the material and the way it was presented to be self-reflective and not at all didactic. I look forward to reading more work from this author.

Okay, truth is I wrote it! :) Although it features lesbian and gay teachers, overall it's about teaching as an "outsider."
