Kay Allenbaugh's Chocolate for a Teen's Spirit is a heart-warming and inspirational set of stories that will change everyuone's outlooks on life. Allenbaugh used her skill of word choice and the knowledge of once being a teenage girl to create this fantastic book for teenagers everywhere. I feel that once a teenager reads this, Allenbaugh's and other women's short stories will change them mentally and make them a better person inside and out, because it sure did for me! Kay Allenbaugh's other works include Chocolate for a Teen's Heart, Chocolate for a Teen's Dreams, Chocolate for a Teen's Soul, Chocolate for a Woman's Spirit, Chocolate for a Woman's Heart, Chocolate for a Woman's Dreams, Chocolate for a Woman's Soul, Chocolate for a Woman's blessings, Chocolate for a Mother's Heart, and Chocolate for a Lover's Heart. I have read Chocolate for a Teen's Dreams and Chocolate for a Teen's Heart as well as this book, and they are all phenomenal. They changed my complete mindset, and all the women that had inspirational stories to share about their teenage life made me a stronger person. I feel that all her works are very similar, but yet at the same time, they each share different lessons for different parts of the mind. Based on other people's reviews on Allenbaugh's works, many people as well as me praise this taleneted writer for her stories. I have yet to see a person rate ANY of her stories lower than a 4!!!
The novel's themes fit perfectly for the book. The main themes were Adolescence and Female Roles. Adolescence is a huge one in this book, mainly because it revolves around teens and their hardships. Female Roles is another one because all the females that shared their life stories in this novel had huge roles to play in the book itself. The books main subject was for teen's to hear stories from women all around the world about their teenage years. I think this really helps for teenagers to relate to these women.
Overall, I feel that this book was definitely a success and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even my mom and dad loved it, and that's saying something since they're adults! Kay Allenbaugh did an amazing job writing this novel and I would love to read more of her stories for teens. -

Female Roles because all the females that shared their life stories in this novel had huge roles to play in the book itself. Adolescence is a huge one in this book, mainly because it revolves around teens and their hardships. This is a major plus for me, seeing as I am a 15 year old who would love to learn more about growing into adulthood and what to do in all my experiences yet to come. The book’s main subject was for teens to hear stories from women all around the world about their teenage years and their different experiences.

This book like most other books had a great purpose. The main purpose in this book was to help the reader. This book was all about trying to help teens get through their rough teenage years.
I feel like the theme of this book is "it'll be okay." This book was all about stories written by actual teenagers. Most of the stories stated that no matter how bad a break up, a pimple or even the grade you get on a test, it will be okay. Your teenage years are some of the most difficult years of your life and this book told stories about everything you could imagine and the message I got out of most of the stories, is it will be okay.
This story was very descriptive. Most of the stories that were told you felt like you were there witnessing them first hand. For example, there was a story told about a guy taking a girl to a graveyard and the way they explained it you felt like you were there.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I think being a teenager can be really hard and lonely sometimes. I really liked how this book helped me realize that i'mm not the only one who has a bad day or a bad week. You can't just give up on yourself because you had a bad breakup or your parents embarrassed you. There isn't anything I didn't like, I wouldn't change anything about this book. I haven't ever really read a book like this.
