Olivia and the Rain Dance Reviews

Olivia and her friends want to have a boat race. Unfortunately, with no water they are unable to race their boats. They try doing a rain dance to bring the rain, yet that doesn't work. They even tried to fill up the pond with the hose, unfortunately the hose wouldn't reach. Olivia comes up with a creative way to still have the boat race.

I think this would appeal to early childhood. I would probably use this book in kindergarten or first grade. I have not read any of the Olivia books before but the librarian informed me that children love Olivia.

I would use this when we had a class lesson on 'going with the flow of things'. Sometimes things don't go as planned due to things you cannot control. When that happens you need to just think outside the box and find another solution.

Olivia and her friends want to read boats in the lake, but where is all of the water? Olivia and the gang can't race boats without water. So they decide to do a rain dance to get rain falling. It's just a false alarm and Olivia gets an idea to roll the boats in a race instead. Then....KABOOM! it starts raining. Tomorrow Olivia will race her boat on the water.

I love this book, and Olivia! This is a super book to introduce the water cycle and for a weather unit.

This book is short and sweet and it has Olivia. Perfect for a toddler. My daughter loved this story. It shows kids that things may not work out the way you want it to but that is ok. You can think of another way to do something. And when she gets a little older, it is easy enough for when she is trying to read by herself.

Simple easy reader book. What can Olivia and her friends do when they want to boat race but the pond is dry?? Maybe a little rain dance will encourage those rain clouds to form.

Got this for Natalie. It was okay. Not as good as the original picture books as Olivias character is watered down.
