The few patrons inside were all riveted to her. As Stewart's wheels rumbled onto the wooden floor, she turned and fixed him with her well-honed siren smile." ***

Stewart's Story Reviews

I haven't read either of the full books, so I'm sure I am missing something, but I was not sure at the "ending" of the story. It seemed so sudden. I was expecting to turn the page and see something more. It was a good story of someone who is living with guilt and trying to get by the best that he can given the circumstances.

I would give it more stars if there were a better resolution to the story. I'm not sure if they got back together or what. What about a job too? He was a student teacher for 1 week? That is not how it normally goes. Substitute? Yes.

This is the first book I read by Ruth Madison. It is a nice, short story about how a car accident changed the lives of Stewart, his family & friends. I liked how Stewart didn't let his wheelchair stop him from living his life. I think it could have been a really good book if it had more information about the secondary characters in the story. I would read other books by this author.

I didn't want to give it fewer stars for being so short, but it was the first time I've turned the page and thought...'that really was the end?' I guess now I'll have to read their Christmas short story!

  • Eleanore June

The story didn't feel complete. I know it is a short story/novella, but even with that in mind it was cramming too much in and yet managed not to wrap up in a satisfying way.

That being said I love how "normal guy" Stewart is.

I liked this novella but I think I would've liked it more without the scenes with Stewart's father. It seemed like the author just crammed those in there at the last second, in my opinion. But, other than that, a very soid lunchtime book
