In this novella, Holly desperately wants a perfect Christmas, and she's perfectly willing to make herself miserable getting one. Unfortunately, there are mystical forces at play that threaten more than her holidays...her life is in danger. And the only one who seems to know what's going on is a darkly handsome, but mysterious, wizard who makes her want to add "romance" to this year's Christmas wish list.
A Wizard for Christmas Reviews

Meh, ok for a little Christmas short. There was nothing overly objectionably about it, but nothing I loved either. The set up was fun but the villain was defeated with unbelievable ease and the romance was rushed and cheesy. Could do with another round of edits, especially to look for missing words. But all in all, not bad.

This is an entertaining story with likeable characters. Considering the short length (6 chapters), I was actually able to connect with the characters quite well. The paranormal elements are kept pretty light, it doesn't delve much into facts and mythology, so there is a charming air of mystery regarding the origins and capabilities of the "wizards".
It's not your typical "warm and fuzzy" Christmas story; there's a few murder crime scenes shown (not gruesome, though), and a strange other-worldly monster is hunting the main characters. However, there are some lighter times, and the ending is nice, leaving you with a hopeful feeling for the characters. Overall, I liked the story well enough that I wish it had been a full length novel.
From what I understand, "A Wizard for Christmas" is part of the "Protectors" series, however it worked fine as a stand-alone story for me. I won't be reading the rest of the series as I can tell from the reviews the other books get steamier than I prefer.... however "A Wizard for Christmas" was thankfully quite clean. The language was kept fairly mild (h*ll, d*mn, b*tch, etc, and 3 uses of s***), and there were no bedroom scenes. -
A Wizard for Christmas fills the reader with all the good feelings the holidays are supposed to engender!

Okay
I was looking forward to a paranormal Christmas story. Unfortunately the hardcore stalking and manipulation turned me off. The writing is good and so is the p!it but not for me. -
The magic of a "a perfect family Christmas" does save the day but this is very thin romance wise - so not the holiday romance that I am seeking right now.

A Wizard for Christmas by Dorothy McFalls
Holly doesn't want the others to know she is always alone for the Christmas holiday.
In town there is a woman who is murdered and the police fear there will be more.
A man had helped Holly cross the icy road and he was kind.
Hadrian Graham, detective lives nearby and has references as he asks her out for coffee-She had just left her apartment, pj's on under a coat and no keys.
It was just one of those days... but she can't stay and hurries back to her apartment. The others in the cafe stare at her and they know she's not ready.
The neighbor will water her plants while she's away and now she has to leave. Not much money and there are no hotel rooms and she's tired and cold and Hadrian comes to her rescue.
They are of a different world and there are others who want to harm them.....
She gets the idea they want her to join a cult and she goes to the police station to file a stalker report. Now she's on the streets and somebody licks her lips and at the same time Hadrian gets a pain and he knows the creature is feeding and is close by.
Now they've had 4 women dead... Like this tale of what happens next...very magical and mystical.
More titles from the author are included at the end. -
A very sweet paranormal novella about a race of magical beings known as Foundlings. They come from nowhere, treated as abandoned babies, are raised among humans. As their powers develop they come together with others of their kind for safety and a sense of belonging. Many believe they are here for a reason, using their powers for good, to help the humans; they call themselves `The Protectors'.
Holly Post is a foundling, not that she knows it yet. Raised in foster care she never knew her parents and has spent her life being alone. Watched over for years by other Foundlings who believe Holly has a destiny to fulfil, the time has come when, ready or not, she needs to know who she is and what she can do. People are dying and only Holly can save them.
Under the protective eye of Hadrian she bravely accepts her fate and faces the beast not knowing if it will bring about the end of her life and a chance at happiness she never thought she would get.
This is a really endearing short story that you can read in just a couple of hours. It's the perfect length, keeping you engaged throughout; a really satisfying read. -
Holly is lonely and starts the holidays by lying to her friends about her fake family when all along her real plans are to stay home alone – like every other year. Being an orphan isn’t so much fun around the Christmas season. But that is before insanity struck - when she keeps meeting up with Hadrian, a man who she feels a tie with and doesn’t know why. Worried he’s into some kind of a cult, she runs away from him and his weird friends straight into the arms of a soul-eater who wants her REAL bad. Hers is an old soul and very powerful which is why the Hadrian and his group of wizards wants her to join with them. Murders are being committed daily by these soul-eaters and it has to stop. Seems Holly is just the person who can do that with the help of Hadrian who can’t stand the thought of anything happening to her.
This was a very different story and it reeled me in quickly – just had to see how it would finish. By the end, I was so glad that I had stayed with it. Different but great! Good writing and the characters were believable. -
Holly is special, she just doesn't know it. A foundling raised without a family, she has always held onto the make believe family she kept in her head, especially around the holidays. When a strange, but very attractive man, starts showing up everywhere she begins to suspect that something is wrong. Too bad for Holly that there's so much more wrong than she every thought. Stalked by a deadly and ancient force out to steal souls, Holly may be the only one that can save the unsuspecting humans.
A very sweet little paranormal romance - however, it was very tame. Lots of romance, no sex. Sometimes that's just the type of story you need around the holidays though. Many times in novella's it's hard to get to know the characters, but I felt very close to Holly by the end of the story - quite a feat for so few pages. The ending left me a little wanting and quite rushed, but at least satisfied that the loose ends were wrapped up. If you looking for a quick Christmas feel-good type of romance, this one may just hit the spot -

What do you do when you have no-one? Like Holly you dream them up..that perfect family. More perfect than anyone has. Only loving me, they are all there waiting for me. Now though, I find out someone, that things have changed, I have changed. This was a very strong story line that will catch you off your feet. Humorous, pitiful, strange and yet filled with an awakening. Love, that one thing, always just out of reach. Holly reaches out of herself and become what she is and it is enough, enough to...to? Well you have to read it to find out what happen to her and Hadrain and it will be worth it. Enjoyable read.

This is a short novella with a paranormal twist to it. It is also part of a series but you are able to read it as a stand-alone. We have all wanted that perfect Christmas and in this book Holly lies to her friends to pretend that she has it. As this was a novella there is not that much detail to it and it skips along at a reasonable pace. The storyline is good, the basis is sound and the characters interact nicely. I'm guessing you need the other books to learn more about the others. Very nice.

This was a pretty good book. It had a great storyline and the characters were fairly well developed although i think there could have been a bit more expansion done on the Protectors so the reader would have a little more idea about how they came to be and what they do. And i think the ending was a bit rushed and it could have been done different. It sort of just ends suddenly. It was fun little book however, and i will look forward to reading the other Protector books in the series as well.

I downloaded this as a free download for my kindle. It wasn't horrible...it just felt a little rushed and almost like a prequel to a bigger story. The plot was decent, the characters had so much potential...I guess that is my complaint, there was alot of potential left untapped. It was a quick enjoyable read that I breezed through in less than a day. I can't say "ooooh, I liked this book!" but I wouldn't say I didn't like it either, hence the 2 star "it's ok" rating.

Short but fun book. I've read the other two books in the Protector series before this one and it did make more sense to me to read this one after. I'm not sure what the correct order is, but it was nice to be more familiar with the characters. This is a great book to read with the Christmas season starting up!

I was not a huge fan of this novella. In the beginning of the novel, I found Holly to be a dynamic character and that her interactions with the mysterious Hadrian were intriguing ...

Quick, short and sweet. A young woman who is an orphan dreams of her perfect family, but it is all just a dream. Then someone walks into her life a stranger and everything she thought she knew changes.
-
I got this as a kindle freebie. It's a cute story but I'm such a wimp about scary stuff. It wasn't too scary but it was more scary than I like. If this is your genre though you'll probably love it. The content is clean with just a little bit of language.
-
Its an ok read, makes me want to know more. But it makes me wish for things I have no right to. Maybe this is why i hate the hokidays, or is it just jealousy? or is it sisterhood, knowing that i"m not the only one broken.
-
I have been working through some of my Amazon free book of the day purchases. This was a short story that had enough potential that I am going to check out one of the author's other books.
-
Too much telling and not enough showing, not enough character development and I couldn't stand Holly. Honestly that's why I rated this so low, I couldn't stand Holly.
-
Cute little short story. The romance did seem a bit rushed. I find the world intriguing with lots of questions still and will read more hoping to find some answers.
-
An odd start, and while the story itself was interesting, it needed filling out on the background.
-
Unusual story but a great ending fitting for Christmas!
-
It was a short easy read, but lacked any depth or great characters. It was all told very quickly with extremely predictable scenarios and character building. Probably would not read again.
-
Cute story
-
This was a good christmas short story. Christmas is about family. Somehow Holly found her family and didn't need an imaginary one anymore.
-
Undeveloped
The story was okay, I felt it needed more character development, they just left me flat. There was nothing to make me care about the characters.
