[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, shape-shifters]

Heartthrob or hot wings? For lynx-shifter Garth Mckenna, hummingbird Nicolas is both. Without a doubt, Nicolas couldn’t be hotter if he tried. He is Garth’s sun, his love, and his unexpected mate.

Between such different men, finding a middle ground is never easy. When Garth’s two sons reject Nicolas, Garth is torn between his boys and his mate. He does not know what to do and what to believe.

Nicolas doesn’t remember his past, and he has kept what little he does know a secret from his new friends. Garth brings love to his life, and he is hurt when Garth’s sons refuse his affection.

However, sometimes, the sun is too scorching even for its children. Nicolas’s mysterious past emerges to threaten his loved ones and it might eclipse all his hopes for the future. It is up to Garth to save them from perpetual darkness.

The Lynx Who Claimed the Sun (Mate or Meal #4) Reviews

  • ~✡~Dαni(ela) ♥ ♂♂ love & semi-colons~✡~

The relationship development was nonexistent, and Garth's kids were old enough to know better. The mystery of Nico's past made little sense. All the characters acted and talked the same. Maybe I should have started with book 1. This one was a dud.

This fourth story wasn't just fun, there was amnesia to overcome, a mystery to solve, and some surprising bad guys to deal with. The pairing between Nico, a hummingbird shifter, and Garth, a lynx shifter with two kits, was just as unlikely as any of the previous ones - and just as satisfying once the two mates put aside their differences. Or rather, in this case, once Nico overcame his past and his reluctance.

It was also great to see some of the characters from the first three books reappear, and it feels as if this whole group is coming together quite well. New and old friends are learning to work together, never mind this whole prey versus predator concept, and the symbolism of that is really nice.

If you like shifter stories with a twist, if half-forgotten memories coming back to haunt a character interests you and if two mates dealing with a huge mess before finally finding their way to each other is something you want to read about, you will probably like this book.

I liked this story except for the story. Also I'm starting to skip over the sex scenes, too many, too frequent, but probably more because I'm reading the series all in one go and I'm starting to feel full up with the premise and the sex. However I'm compulsive so I'll still go on reading.....all the way to Book 14. Thank goodness they're short but that'll teach me to start this style of series without a fallback book to read a little of between titles. Or not read the series in one go.

I quite enjoy this series. By this point, you will already know what to expect from Scarlet Hyacinth.

That being said, this is not my favorite from the series. I prefer some of the later books to this one.

It took a little bit for me to get into this book. I liked that Nicolas and Garth didn't fall instantly for each other and that they let their relationship grow by spending time together. And I liked getting the perspective of Garth's kids. There were a lot of names and relationships tossed into the mix which I likely would have followed better if I had read the series in order but the story was still enjoyable. I always like reading stories about uncommon shifters. The hummingbird was a cute one. And I loved Nicolas's new email address at the end...very witty!

Me ha gustado que utilizara mitología mexicana para este libro, sobre todo la razón detrás del colibrí, y el resto me ha parecido muy bueno, si acaso como en estos casos, falta un poco de profundidad en la relación, personajes, demás.

  • Kate

This was much better than the last book, but still "just ok".

  • Kelly H. (Maybedog)

For a shifter-a-week book that was damn good. 4.49 stars

    Migraines aren't just bad headaches!

I love that in this world women can be betas!

Awesome to acknowledge that cleaning yourself up is really a prerequisite to rimming!

    Wonderful peril and bedside scene!

That was quite the about-face for .

Lynx shifter Garth Mckenna finds Hummingbird shifter Nicholas to be the sunshine of this dark world. When they meet, the attraction is electric. There is only one hitch in Garth’s happiness—his sons reject Nicholas, pulling Garth in two directions. Does he choose his mate or his sons? When Nicholas is threatened, Garth will do all in his power to save the one he loves.

The Lynx Who Claimed the Sun by Scarlet Hyacinth is the fourth book in the Mate or Meal series. This is the first book I have read in this series, and I do not suggest reading these books out of order. The world building and such is not explained in this book, so I am assuming it was in the previous stories. This left me a tad confused in places. But the overall story of love is beautifully done.

I did like Garth, a very alpha male character with a huge heart. Nicholas is less alpha but adorably cute in his own way. They really have a strong love connection that I could feel as the reader. I like being pulled into the characters and cheering for them.

There are a couple of places where I just laughed because the story was getting a bit silly but it is good to have a nice laugh once in a while. There is a nice story line as well as hot sex to follow, which I love. I love that the balance is done really well. I don’t necessarily feel I have to get more in this series, but I think if you love shifters and hot -love you would really like this series a lot.

typical Scarlet Hyacinth serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical Scarlet Hyacinth? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all serials by UNLESS motivated otherwise by markedly good/bad writing:
    Scarlet Hyacinth
    joyee flynn
    sunny day
    lynn hagen
    stormy glenn
    carol lynne
    gabrielle evans

i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry.

For a short story, these books are fully packed.

Yes, they are insta-love, but with "mate" in the title, that is to be expected. And in shifter stories I find I don't have an issue with it. Because in this series, it's actually not necessarily "insta-love" as so much "instantly knowing we are mates and meant to be together". The "I love you" bit is not mentioned immediately (unlike the sex lol) and there are always some issues to be sorted before everlasting love gets declared. And that is one thing I really like about this series.

This series just keeps getting better! There is action, adventure, romance, mystery and cute albeit bratty kids. I admit there was a slight dip from book one to book two with Shiloh acting like a bipolar nutcase but the third book had a lot less angst and more action so it was almost perfect. This one cinched the deal. Best one of the series yet. Can't wait for the next two!

  • Joie

Well good or bad I am a big fan of this series. To be honest this wasn't my fav so far but it was still pretty good. For me it was too rushed but it seemed more an issue with the word count. There were to many untied ends left in my opinion.

  • Candice

Garth's kids? Yeah, no! They are old enough to know better.

I also felt like we missed some of the building relationship :( In the previous books, I really liked Nico, but in this one? Not so much. I don't know why though.

  • Rachel Emily

I enjoyed this...loved seeing some previous characters back and I really enjoyed this couple. I think the books are getting better and better and more consistent. Really enjoyed this one!

  • Clover

I really enjoy this serie so far.

  • Tina

This series is just getting better and better

  • Kristy Maitz

There is nothing special about the book. My reading was very fast. I don't understand why Scarlet Hyacinth is writing that series of books is she is not doing it the right way.

  • AkFa

I know I'm not objective, but I just love this book

  • Dena

    3.5*

  • Melanie

Really pleased with this series, there's always so much going on.
This one has been my favourite so far.

  • Ashley Bellingar

A couple of twist which amused me greatly

  • Donna

Is it bad that these little red books (as I call them) always entertain me? Nope! Sometimes you just need a bit of fluff with a not-quite-believable storyline thrown in for good measure! ;p

And, as usual when it come to me and kids... Corbin and Preston stole the show! :D

  • Lola

I really need to give up on this series. There are some decent ideas here, but the execution is just terrible.
